Chapter Twenty Six

- Todoroki -

The rest of the weekend went by quickly and we were back in class on Monday. We returned the babies and all of the stuff. That went with it. Class returned to its normal topics.

Weeks few by with nothing remarkable happening. Momo and I spent as much time together as we could. We'd have breakfast together in the mornings and then hang out some after dinner to do homework. We both agreed that the afternoons were to spend time with friends because it was important to maintain those relationships too.

It was a Saturday morning about three weeks after Momo and I started dating. I was just finishing getting dressed to head down to the common area. It was 7:30 am and I knew Momo had probably been up for an hour. I yawned and shook my head. How did she get up so early?

I pulled a shirt on and grabbed my phone. I walked out of my dorm and locked the door. I went to the elevator and pressed the down button. I stretched in the elevator trying to wake myself up some more.

The elevator dinged and the doors opened up on the ground floor. I stepped off the elevator and went to find Momo in the common area. Some mornings she was sitting near the window but on other mornings she would be curled up on one of the couches. I never really know where she would be.

I looked around by the couches. No Momo here... I glanced over to the tables and didn't see her at any of those either. My eyebrows furrowed. This is odd. Momo's always up before now. Maybe she's in the bathroom. I'll wait a little longer.

2, 5, 10 minutes passed by and there was still no sign of Momo. she was doing some cleaning. No Momo. I checked my phone, no messages from her. I was starting to get worried. I went over to the elevator that lead up to the girl's dorms and pressed the up button.

I'm glad it was a Saturday morning and most people were still sleeping in otherwise it would have stopped on every floor and made the trip longer for everyone involved.

The doors ding and I stepped off on the top floor and went down the hall to entrance to Momo's room. I knocked on the door. No answer. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. I knocked again, louder this time. I heard a groan from inside the room and a thud.

"Momo!" I cried out trying to open the door again, "Momo, it's me! Shoto!"

The door knob jiggled and the door slid open. Momo stood leaning against the door frame still in her pajamas with messy hair and a pale face.

"Momo, are you ok?" I asked rushing to help support her. She put most of her weight on me and I helped her get back into bed.

"I feel awful..." she groaned as I pulled the covers back over her, "and I'm freezing..."

"Let me see," I felt her forehead, "Momo, you're burning up. Have you taken any medication?"

"No, I felt too sick to so get it..." she mumbled trying to pull the covers up closer. I helped her with the covers then went to get some medicine and some water. I sat her up and supported her while she took the medication. Once she finished, I laid her back down and played with her hair.

My poor baby was sick and I was set on taking care of her. I went downstairs to make some noodles and chicken broth for when she woke up. Everyone was starting to mill around and they became harder to avoid.

I quickly gathered up anything else I might need to take care of her and went back up to her dorm. She was stirring by the time I entered the dorm again.

"Hey Momo, easy now. It's just me." I soothed brushing her hair out of her face. She smiled softly and opened her eyes.

"Hello Shoto..." she whispered trying to move the covers off of her, "I'm hot now..."

I helped her move the covers off of her and propped her up with pillows. She was suffering bad. I got the soup ready and gave it to her to eat.

"You need the energy." I told her. She stayed up the rest of the afternoon with me and we talked about all sorts of things while I took care of her.

She started talking about all sorts of things that I knew she normally wouldn't talk about. She went on about cute couples from books, classes, the furniture in her room, something about Kaminari and Jiro, and a whole lot more I didn't understand.

She was completely out of it and drifted in and out of conciousness throughout the afternoon. I only left her side whenever one of us had to used the restroom and to get her dinner.

I had never seen Momo like this; and while I enjoyed taking care of her, it wasn't normal. I wanted to see her happy, smiling face not contorted in pain from her sickness. She seemed to be getting better, but I wished I could take the pain away now. Recovery Girl said she couldn't heal Momo because of how fatigued Momo was. She said that it would end up doing more harm than good.

"Thank you Shoto..." Momo murmured slipping into sleep again. I smiled down at her. It was odd to think how much she meant to me in such a short amount of time.

I honestly couldn't think of anyone else I'd rather be with than Momo. I stroked her hair again and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Asui promised me that she'd check up on Momo tonight since I can't. I was extremely thankful that Momo wouldn't be alone all night. I gathered up my stuff and made sure Momo and Asui wouldn't have any trouble during the night. I made sure that all the medicine was within her reach and that the water glass was full.

I smiled down at Momo as she stirred in her sleep. I smoothed her hair and gave her a kiss on the forehead one last time before standing up.

"I love you Momo. I hope I can find the right time to tell you that in person." I told her before exiting the room.
