Chapter Twenty Five
"Hello Shoto." The woman said turning around to face us. She looked surprised to see me and looked over to Shoto.
"Mom, I'd like you to meet Momo Yaoyorozu, my girlfriend." He told her. She looked back to me with sparkling eyes and a wide smile.
"Shoto! When did this happen? Why didn't I get a letter about it?" His mom gushed walking over to us.
"Earlier this week. I was going to write, but I had a school project."
"Hold on, why do you two have a baby?" She asked looking at the doll in my arms.
"Well, we had to do a sexual education class once our teacher found out that we were dating." I finally spoke up.
"That's the project I had." Shoto added and she nodded.
"Well come on in you two! Sit! Sit!" Shoto's mom insisted, "Yaoyorozu, it is so wonderful to finally meet you!"
"Finally?" I wondered sitting down, "You said Shoto didn't tell you that we were dating."
"You're right, but he has been talking about you for a couple months now."
"Mom!" Shoto whispered to her
"Oh, yes, sorry!" She waved it off, "I've never heard of you! Now then, would you like some tea?"
"Yes please!" I giggled at the exchange. Shoto's mom is very sweet. She's definitely much happier now than she was when Shoto was younger, at least from what I've heard and seen.
"So Yaoyorozu, tell me about yourself." Rei said getting the water ready. I always hated when someone asked that. I never knew exactly what they were looking for.
"Well, I just turned sixteen earlier this week. I go to U.A., which you probably already know... I like reading and hanging out with my friends. I also want to become a hero like Shoto here."
"Oh, I enjoyed reading too. What kind of books do you like?" She asked me coming to sit back down while the water heated up.
"I really like illustrated encyclopedias. Shoto actually got me a new one for my birthday. I haven't been able to read it yet, but I really look forward to it."
The morning went by quickly as the three of us talked about all sorts of things, books, how school was going, how Shoto and I got together, what we thought of the baby, etc.
Rei, as she asked me to call her, really was lovely and I had no reason to be worried. I actually found it silly how jittery I was to meet her now that I think about it. Shoto went out to pick up some lunch for is from the cafe down the street claiming that his mom shouldn't have to eat hospital food.
"Oh, I briefly met Fuyumi and Natsuo in the mall a few weeks ago while Shoto and I were there." I told Rei who was talking to me about Shoto and his siblings.
"You did? That's a shame. Now Fuyumi will tease me that she got to meet you first!" Rei joked before taking a sip of tea, "But I least I got to talk with you first. I'm so glad Shoto found you. You're a lovely young woman!"
"Thank you! I'm glad to hear that!"
"And do you want to know something?" She asked me. I took a sip of tea and nodded yes, "I don't know if I've ever seen that boy smile as much as he does while talking about or being with you. You've made my boy happy again and I'm so thankful for that."
I was speechless at her words. She was even tearing up a little bit and I couldn't help but tear up some too at the sight.
"I'm back." Shoto called out walking into the room, "Woah! What happened? Are you two ok?" He put the bag on the counter and rushed over to the two of us. Rei and I were practically in tears by that point.
"Yeah, we're fine." I croaked out trying to fan my eyes with my hands so tears wouldn't slip out.
"Just doing some bonding!" Rei chuckled wiping away a few tears, "They're happy tears, don't worry."
Shoto looked between the two of us. He gave a soft smile and shook his head. He went to get the food ready on the table for us while his mom and I finished drying our tears.
We ate lunch and talked a little bit longer before finally deciding to head back to the dorms. We gathered up Hiroki and his things so we could leave. Rei gave us each a hug. While hugging me she whispered in my ear.
"Thank you again for making Shoto happy."
I nodded and pulled away from the hug. She looked so happy and I was definitely happy that I came to meet her. Shoto said goodbye one last time and we started on our way back.
"What did you think of my mom?" He asked me after we got off the train and were walking to the dorms.
"She's very nice. I'm glad I came with you." I admitted.
"That's good. I'm very glad about that." He smiled. I don't think I ever realized how much Shoto talked or even smiled around me. He was mostly quiet towards everyone else, but not with me.
With me he would talk, smiled, even joke around. He's comfortable with me and I'm comfortable with him. I found myself smiling.
"What is it?" He questioned.
"Oh nothing, I'm just thinking about something your mom told me."
"I didn't talk about you that much before we start dating." He blurted out rubbing the back of his neck.
"What? Oh! That? I wasn't thinking about that! What did you tell her?" I teased him and he groaned.
"Not much! Really! I told her that you were my classmate, that you were very smart, and..."
"And?" I nudged him.
"And that you were pretty." He sighed.
"Aw! How sweet of you!" I gushed but I could feel my cheeks heating up.
"Yeah, yeah." He waved me off trying to hide a smile, "Now then, when were you actually thinking about?"
"Just you." I told him, "I was thinking about how much you talk to me and how much you smile around me."
"You're nice to talk to."
"You think so?"
"Momo, you know how I'm an introvert?" He asked me and I nodded, "Well, I could spend a whole week with you and I still wouldn't be tired of being with you."
"Really Shoto?"
"Really. I don't think I could ever get tired of being with you."
I smiled at him and leaned my head against his.
"That's sweet honey." I told him and he wrapped his arm around my waist.
"Anything for you Momo." He kissed my temple, "Anything for you."
