Chapter Seven

"Here are the totals for those of you who got offers" Aizawa announced to the class. It was our first day back after the festival and I was still bummed about my performance.

Todoroki - 4,123
Bakugo - 3,556
Tokoyami - 360
Iida - 301
Kaminari - 272
Yaoyorozu - 108
Kirishima - 68
Uraraka - 20
Sero - 14

"In past years it's been more spread out, but there's a pretty big gap this time." He continued. I scanned the list for my name. Yaoyorozu- 108. That's a decent number I suppose. But Todoroki and Bakugo each got over 3,500. How am I ever going to catch up to them?

"Gah! That's no fair!" Kaminari groaned about the results and throwing his head back.

"What about the real star? Moi?" Aoyama muttered to himself upset he didn't make the list.

"Todoroki got the most, ahead of Bakugo? Jiro wondered.

"Yeah, it's the opposite of how they placed in the festival." Kirishima added.

"They probably weren't excited about working with the guy who had to be chained up at the end." Sero pointed out.

"If I scared a pro, they're just weak!" Bakugo yelled at them. I sighed and looked at Todoroki.

"It's amazing. You must be proud."

"These offers are probably because of my father." Todoroki grumbled. I knew his dad was a pro hero, but Todoroki really didn't seem fond of his father's "help." I guess I can't blame him. I would want to get that many offers on my own effort. But even so, I wish I had gotten more than 108 offers...

"I don't think that was the only reason." I told him, "You do have an impressive quirk and fighting ability."

"Thank you Yaoyorozu."

"Despite these results, you'll all be interning with pros, got it?" Aizawa informed, "Even those of you who didn't get any offers."

I wonder what pro hero I should shadow. I'm not sure who I got offers from yet, but I'm sure there's a good variety. Right?

"And for that we need hero names!" Sato exclaimed breaking me out of my thoughts. Oh no, a hero name? I didn't think I had to choose that until later.

"Things are suddenly getting a lot more fun!" Uraraka added with a smile. Easy for you to say! I've tried to think of a hero name hundreds of times to no avail. They all seem awkward and forced. I'm no good at creating names.

"These hero names will likely be temporary, but take them seriously or-"

"You'll have hell to pay later!" Midnight announces strutting into the room. Some of the boys gasp and start eyeing her thin mesh costume. I wish boys weren't such pigs and wouldn't drool over a lady like that, "What you pick today could be your codename for life. You better be careful, or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."

"Yeah. She's got a good point. Midnight is going to have final approval over your names. It's not my forte." Aizawa tells us getting out his sleeping bag, "The name you give yourself is important. It helps reinforce your image and shows what kind of hero you wanna be in the future. A codename tells people exactly what you represent. Take "All-Might for example."

I take the dry erase board being passed back from Mineta. My hero name. What on earth do I pick?

Creation Hero: Generate?

No...

Multiply?

No...

Production?

No...

Each name I came up with was worse than the last. I sighed and put my head in my hands.

"Having trouble?" Todoroki asked

"Yeah, you could say that." I told him, "What names are you thinking?"

"I don't know. Probably something like Bakugo calls me"

"Oh no. Absolutely not!" I laughed, "If you go by Half n' Half all I'll be able to think of is coffee creamer! And don't get me started on Icy Hot! Please don't do that to yourself."

"I guess you're right."

"Besides, you're a simple guy. No sense in choosing something's extravagant. It won't suit you."

"You're right again. You seem to see what won't work, is that why you're struggling?" He asked me.

"I guess so... Everything I come up with seems too formal..."

"Hmm... Let's see... so your quirk is creation..."

"Yes, I turn the lipids in my body into objects."

"You create stuff... so something create-y..." Todoroki thought aloud, "Maybe-"

"Wait, what did you say? Something what?"

"Something create-y?" He asked looking confused.

"Yes! That!" I told him writing 'Createy' on my board, "Hmm... it doesn't quite look right..."

"Let me see." Todoroki said taking the board from my hand and erased part of it and began to rewrite it. He passed it back to me when he finished.

"Creati. I like it! The spelling change helps a lot!" I told him and he blushed a little bit, "But what kind of hero am I?"

"Well, you can create a lot of stuff."

"Yeah, but nothing organic."

"So? You can still make just about everything a hero would need to."

"Oh! That's it! Todoroki you're a genius!" I told him rewriting my board. I stood up and went to the front of the classroom.

"I hope I can live up to this name." I announced glancing back at Todoroki, "The Everything Hero: I'm Creati."

"Creative!" Midnight beamed approving the name. I smiled at Todoroki and went back to my seat. Before I could say anything to him, Todoroki stood up and went to the front of the room. He propped his board up and I was surprised.

"Shoto."

"Just your name? That's it?"

"Uh-huh." He said glancing at me

"Well, ok! Next up!" Midnight approved. Todoroki nodded and went back to his seat.

"Why'd you pick your name?" I asked him when he sat down.

"You said to pick something simple because it suited me. My name happens to be short and it's who I am." He told me and I blushed. I didn't think he'd take my advice and I certainly didn't think he'd pick his own name.

I smiled and looked out the window as the final few students picked out their names.

"Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we can go back to talking about your upcoming internships." Aizawa said, "They'll last for one week. As for who you'll be working with: those of you who were on the board will choose from among your offers, everyone else will have a different list. You have a lot to think about. There are around 40 agencies around the country who've agreed to take on interns from your class. Each agency has a different specialty that its heros focus on. Keep that in mind."

"Imagine that you were Thirteen. You'd want to choose a place that focuses on rescuing people, not fighting villains. Understand?" Midnight explained.

"Think carefully before you decide." Aizawa reminds us

"Yes sir!" We agree as he passes out the lists. The bell rings as we start to look over our options.

"Turn in your choices before the weekend." Aizawa tells us heading to the door.

"We've only got two days?" Sero complains

"Yeah, so you should start now. You're dismissed." He says walking out of the classroom and closing the door.

I'm pretty versatile, maybe I could train with a hero that does a lot of hand to hand combat to help with my reflexes. Or maybe I could work with a rescue hero, that could broaden my experiences as a hero. Maybe a hero in the big city to see how they do hero work with such a concentrated amount of people around.

Todoroki lets a small grunt escape his lips as he inspects his list. I glance at him and notice his eyebrows furrow a little bit. I decided not to ask what was on his mind, he was probably focused on something and didn't realize he made the noise.

I stood up and went to talk to Jiro. While other groups were talking about their options.

"Hey Jiro, I should have asked you earlier, but my family is having a banquet this summer for our company. I'm supposed to bring someone, would you want to come?"

"A company banquet? That sounds kinda fancy..."

"Yeah, it is... I hope that's ok with you! You're one of my closest friends and I'd really like you to come Jiro!"

"Well, if I'm one of your closest friends you should call my Kyoka." She laughed, "You're so formal! I'll have to ask my parents of course, but if they say yes, I'd love to come!"

"Thank you Kyoka! And you can call me Momo if you want to" I tell her with a smile, "Anything standing out to you?"

"A few, yeah. But I haven't made up my mind yet... what about you?"

"I want to do my research before I pick. I have a lot of options and I don't want to choose the wrong one."

"That's totally understandable. But don't worry Momo! I know you'll make the right choice!" She reassures.

"I hope so!"
