Chapter 9
-Bobby's P.O.V-
Me and Lucy stood back, examining our work of three days. It wasn't much but hey, we had 2 months. At least we had made a start. I turned to say something but burst out into laughter seeing her looking down at our project in annoyance. Her lips slightly pushed out and her forehead crinkled.
"What?" She whine, making me laugh harder. "Stop it's not funny, this is horrible"
"Lucy we have more than enough time to do more" I managed to say in between my laughing fit. She opened and closed her mouth multiple times to speak but never did. Her shoulders dropped and she sunk back down to the floor.
"Think Lucy think" I heard her mutter to herself. She's without a doubt a perfectionist when it came to any type of work. I watched as her face turned tomato red when her stomach let out the sound of a whales mating call.
"When was the last time you ate?" I asked her. She looked up at me with embarrassment.
"Yesterday" She told me.
"No breakfast.
"Late to school and lunch detention equals no food for me" I looked at her wide eyed and shook my head.
"Alright put your shoes on"
"Why?"
"The project can wait and I'm hungry too so let's go get food" I reached for my jacket that I threw over my bed.
"Won't that be weird?" She questioned, hesitantly standing up to follow me out of my bedroom.

I stood arguing with Bobby for over 10 minutes. There was absolutely no way I was getting on the back of his motorbike. They scared me and there's barely any precautions in place to keep me alive. He finally gave up trying to convince me it was safe and opted for his car instead. I let out a sigh of relief and hopped in the back. Bobby gave me a confused look.
"Get in the front" He told me.
"But you have a girlfriend"
"Lucy, it's not like I'm cheating on her. We're just friends going to get a bite to eat" Did he just call me his friend? Oh wow.
"We're friends?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Well yeah, at least I thought we were" I shrugged and hopped out the car only to get back in but this time in the passenger side. I quickly buckled up my seat belt.
As he drove, I tapped my fingernails lightly on the window in time with the music playing on the radio. I was really grateful that Bobby was a safe driver. I didn't really feel like dying today. My favourite spot, White Castle, was the one we both opted to go to. When the next song started, I squealed out loud. "Journey: Separate ways." He snickered and reached over to turn up the volume as I glanced at him pleadingly.
I grew a little too confident and began to sing along as the song played. I jumped a little when Bobby began to join in, singing a little louder than me. The both of us screaming the chorus. This wasn't me at all but I felt so comfortable around Bobby, like I didn't have to hide or pretend or even be nervous around him. I liked the feeling. Finally, we pulled up to white castle once the song finished. Bobby pulled into a parking spot and we just stared at each other in silence before breaking into laughter.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me" I giggled.
"No don't be sorry, it was fun. Lisa hates that song so I never get to really enjoy it with her" He told me. I shot him a sympathetic look before exiting the car and walking beside him into the restaurant.
I returned from the bathroom to see Bobby already sat in a booth with our order. I approached him, reaching my hand into my jacket pocket to pull out the amount my meal came up to. To my surprise, he flat out refused to take it. I began to protest.
"Just sit down and eat the food please. Your grandma fed me so I'm returning the favour. It's not exactly breaking the bank is it?" He smirked before taking a bite out of his burger.
"Thank you" I sat down opposite him, taking a French frie and popping it in my mouth.

"The guys gave me the encouragement and we've been together for an eight months now" I told her. We'd been in deep conversation since we started eating and she asked me how I met Lisa.
"That's so cute" She took a sip of her drink, avoiding eye contact with me.
"What about you?" I asked her, wiping my hands on a napkin. She put down her drink and looked up.
"What about me?"
"Where's your boyfriend? I know you ain't going to sit there and tell me you haven't got a boyfriend" I looked up at her. She began to uncomfortably shift.
"I've actually..never had a relationship" She admitted. I stared at her wide eyed with my mouth hanging open slightly, not believing what she had just said.
"You're lying!" She chuckled and shook her head.
"I am not" She responded in a high pitched voice. "There was this one guy, Stephen"
"Stephen Matthews"
"Yeah. Basically he asked me out once last year and the girls pushed me to date him. He took me to the movies and I honestly felt nothing. There was no connection so I didn't pursue it. I ended things before they could even start. I wouldn't have been fair on him" I nodded showing her that I understood what she meant. I sat back listening to her go on.
"I just...I want to find someone I have a connection with. Someone who I can relate to. We have to share similar interests but also like different things. I want someone who loves me the way I love them" She huffed and reached over for a napkin.
"I hear that. I like Lisa don't get me wrong, she makes me happy but we don't have a lot in common" I began to say. I reached over to grab some of the salt packets, not realising she was doing the same. My hand accidentally touched hers and she quickly moved her hand back.
"Where you about to take the salt?" I questioned with a smirk.
"Yeah, I always take them for spare. My parents think I'm weird for doing it" She placed her head in her hands. "Wait a second...was you?"
"I was" I shamefully admitted. I could feel myself blushing. I didn't blush! What the hell? Lucy picked up her drink, looking around the restaurant as she sipped from her straw and I watched her in amusement. Her little different facial expression as her eyes landed on every other person here were adorable.
'She's so cute' I thought to myself. I quickly snapped out of my thoughts. What was I thinking?!
