Chapter 16
-Bobby's P.O.V-
"What are we doing today?" I pulled my blue and white stripe tshirt over my head waiting for Lisa to respond.
"Bobby I told you I have a thing" She turned away from me to retrieve her stuff. I rolled my eyes. All I wanted to do is spend some time with my girlfriend was that so much to ask for?
"What thing?" I asked in annoyance.
"A thing with my parents" She placed her hands on her hips. "When did I have to start explaining myself to you?"
"You don't but Lisa" I stopped talking all together seeing her scowl at me.
"I know, you love me and what to be with me all the time but I need my space" There was no way she was serious right now! "Go hang with the guys or something?"
"They're all busy with their girlfriends" I answered back.
"Dutch then?" I shook my head and looked around my room. Lisa huffed and walked over to me.
"Look I'm sorry but I have plans. I'll make time for you next weekend" She leaned in to kiss me, but there was no emotion behind it.
"Ok" I sat back down on my bed.
"I love you" she told me, throwing her bag over her shoulder and blowing me a kiss.
"I'm sure you do" I muttered.
"Oh grow up Bobby!" She scoffed and stormed out of my room.
I grabbed the pillow from beside me and lazily sat it over my face, letting out a frustrated yell once I heard the front door close. Why was she acting so different? Did I do something? All I ever tried to do was make her feel special and clearly it's not enough anymore. Nice guys certainly finish last. An idea popped into my head , I'll just head out somewhere where I am appreciated.
"Where are you going?" My mom asked as I grabbed my keys.
"To see a friend" I told her.
"Okay be safe"
"Of course" I placed my hand into my jeans pocket. "Hey mom, can I have some money?"
-Lucy's P.O.V-
"Ta-da!" My dad jumped into the kitchen wearing a chefs hat and apron. My mom, grandma and I looked over in his direction. My mom looked amused, my grandmothers face dropped and the only sound that could be heard was me sipping the last of my juice up with a straw.
My mom and dad decided to stay home this weekend considering the news. However, my grandma gave us all a stern talking to when we woke up. She wanted no negativity in the house. From this day forward, we were to enjoy every minute of everyday we had with each other. Her being positive inspired me so much. And if she could do it, then so can I.
"Do you like?" My dad asked.
"Dad we're cooking dinner at home not in a five star restaurant" I reminded him.
"I think you look sexy darling" I cringed as my mom spoke. You do not put 'sexy' and 'darling' in the same sentence! My dad gave her a wink. I audibly gagged and my grandmother looked disgusted.
"I think you look ridiculous" She blurted out.
My dad and grandmother began to playfully argue amongst themselves. This is how their relationship was from the moment he met my grandmother. It brought a smile to her face when she got to tease my dad. Just then, a knock at the door sounded. My mom excused herself. I listened to my dad trying to defend himself, fiddling with my straw.
"Lucy, it's for you" my mom came back with a smirk. I jumped off of my chair and headed for the door.
"Hi, what are you doing here?" I asked surprised. The smile wouldn't leave my face. "I don't remember arranging to work on the project today"
"I know I just wanted to see if you'd like to hang out?" Bobby stood with his hand rubbing the back of his neck. He wanted to hang out with me? On the inside, I was jumping for joy.
"Oh, Bobby I'd love too but I'm helping my family out today, we're just in the middle of making dinner" his face instantly dropping. "Unless you'd like to come in and join us?"
"Sure!" Bobby pulled his hand from behind his back. A small bouquet of flowers in his hand. "I hope you don't find this strange but I ran and got these as a 'get well' gift for your grandma"
"Bobby that's so sweet" I beamed at him, letting him enter the house. "You can hand them to her yourself. She's just in the kitchen" I led him to where my family were, my grandma instantly pleased to see him. She really took a liking to him from the first time.
"Hello Bobby!" She rushed over, wrapping her good arm around him.
"Hi Doris, I spoke to Lucy yesterday and she told me you weren't well. So I got you these" He handed her the flowers which she happily took.
"Why thank you. Your mother raised you right" She pat his shoulder before walking off to find a vase.

I stood giggling at Bobby's reaction to making a homemade meatball. At first he was grossed out but by the third one, he got the hang of it. I rolled the meat between the palms of my hand and placed it on the plate in front of us, ready for my mom to begin frying them. My grandma came over to us a few times, making sure we weren't destroying her recipe.
"That one's too fat" Bobby told me. I looked over at him in shock, he snickered at my reaction.
"You know, for someone who never knew how to do this, I'd hush up if I were you" I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Very mature"
"Alright you two can I have the meatballs please" I grabbed the plate and passed it over to my mom.
"I'll make the sauce" my dad yelled reentering the kitchen from his toilet break. My grandma handed him the list of ingredients he'd need and he began to gather them.
Throughout the process, my dad had been asking Bobby all sorts of questions. What his hobbies were, what his parents were like. Favourite movies, music. Basically he didn't shut up but Bobby seemed happy enough to answer him. Once my dad heard Bobby did karate, he had a field day. He practically begged Bobby to show him a couple of moves. My mom ended up finishing the sauce, we let the meatballs simmer in them and made our way out into the sitting room. We just had to see this. My dad had already made space.
My dad threw a punch at Bobby, which he effortlessly blocked. He tried a few more times, even attempting to kick him, but never seemed to make contact. My dad was pretty impressed and to be honest so was I. I'd never seen Bobby do karate, I only heard about it. My dad tried one last time, only for Bobby to catch his wrist, flipping him onto his back. My grandma seemed to enjoy that a lot.
"Kick his ass Bobby!" She yelled. "Excuse my language" I leaned my head into her shoulder laughing along with her, my mom trying to hide hers. I watched Bobby help my dad up off of the ground, I saw him quickly lick his lips.
"Close your mouth dear" My mother whispered. I frowned and began picking at my nails. I really needed to stop doing that.
"Pretty impressive, you'll have to teach my daughter one day. That way I'll feel more comfortable with her leaving the house" My dad said.
"Maybe one day I will sir" Bobby replied, glancing over at me.
