Chapter IV
Luke's POV
The months passed rapidly. I started hanging out with Brianna and Lakyn, which I think worked better, since Lakyn and I were both with Brianna. I'd stayed at school over break, for two reasons: Lakyn and Brianna were in the talent show, and all that I had to go back to was camp, even though I missed Annabeth, there was the first reason to stand. December 25th finally came, and we hung out in the common room in the main campus until 6, since both girls needed to warm up. I headed back to my room, since I had nothing better to do. I decided to send an Iris message to Annabeth, since I hadn't seen her since last summer.
"O, Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, accept my offering. Show me Annabeth Chase," I commanded. The mist shimmered for a second, then displayed an image of the Big House living room. Annabeth and Chiron (in wheelchair form), were in front of the fireplace, which cast an orange glow on both of them. I could nearly imagine the heat it gave off. The picture almost made me 'homesick' for camp. Annabeth glanced up and saw me.
"Hey, Annie," I said, using my nickname for her.
"Hi! Oh my gods, it's been FOREVER!" she squealed. That surprised me a lot, as she's a daughter of Athena, and it's almost impossible to make her do anything 'girly' or somewhat intellectually degrading.
"Glad to see you, too," I replied.
Chiron said, "Is everything going well there?"
"Yes, it is." Then, anticipating his next question, I said, "Lakyn is with her. They are warming up for the talent show."
"Is that right?" Chiron asked.
"Yes," I said. "Um, Chiron, can I talk to you? Alone?"
"Of course," he said, sounding surprised. "Annabeth, why don't you go find Silena? She's been asking to see you," Chiron said.
Annabeth groaned. "Probably to try her new makeup on me. Either that, or she's going to try to give me a makeover." I stifled a laugh at that. Annabeth hates makeup, as I might've mentioned. Nevertheless she got up and headed off.
"What is it, child?" Chiron asked. I felt my face turn red, but he was, like, the only guy that I could talk to. My brothers would only make fun of me, and obviously, Lakyn might be a daughter of the love goddess, but she can get annoying sometimes. She would probably say something along the lines of 'I told you so.' Chiron was also the closest thing that I had to a dad to talk to, since mine had abandoned me before I was even born, and its not like I could contact him when I wanted to.
"It's Brianna," I said. A small smile played at his lips.
"Is this what I think it is?" he asked.
"Um, yes, probably," I responded.
"I wouldn't think that you, of all these campers, that you would need 'The Talk'. After all, you spent three years with Thalia," Chiron said in a teasing tone.
"It's not that!" I responded indignantly. "I'm just trying to figure out if she feels the same way, and how to tell her, if she does."
"You'll know both things when the time is right," he said. "Don't try to force things to happen too quickly. All events will happen in their own time."
Or when the Fates will them too, I thought to myself. Aloud, I said, "Okay."
"Was that all?" he said, actually smiling.
"Yeah," I said.
"I'll see you in the summer, then," he said.
"Alright. Please tell Annabeth I said 'Hi', and that I miss her," I asked.
"Of course," he said, before waving his hand through the mist, dissolving the image. I glanced at my clock, and was surprised to see how much time had passed. I decided to head to the theater to grab a front-row seat.
