The following day, Ana arrived at her office earlier than usual due to her workload. But she had no idea that her boss had arrived before her.

On the other hand, Austin and Jake were already seated in the former's office. While Austin sat on the table with his arms folded across his chest, Jake sat on the chair placed in front of the table that was turned around so he could focus towards Ana's cabin.

Austin looked especially dapper in his sky-blue shirt with the sleeves folded up. His brunette hair accentuated his forehead in a perfect style.

His almond-shaped hazel eyes were riveted to the person behind the enormous see-through glass; his enigmatic and piercing look gave him a menacing appearance. Had Ana seen his facial expressions, she would have considered not going to work the following day. His smirk never turned into a smile all this time, making Jake sigh. He knew Austin was being too speculative, but he had no say in the matter.

Jake had worn a shiny black shirt inside his white suit. The white and black combination stood out on his ivory skin and gave off a chocolate boy aura. Compared to Austin, he had more gentle and charming characteristics. When he glanced at Ana, his expression softened as well.

After observing Ana settling herself into her office, Austin finally decided to break the silence. "What are your thoughts on this?" He asked Jake, who was staring at Ana as attentively as Austin was.

There was a pause for a minute as the two of them continued to glance at Ana, who was going through some files attentively.

"I'm not sure. Let us just pay attention to what she says." Jake responded without glancing at Austin, who nodded his head in response.

A few minutes went by, but Ana was preoccupied with her task. She opened her laptop, checked the files, and started to type. Although Jake grew bored, Austin's eyes remained fixed on the girl. "Can I just sleep?" He yawned and asked in a bored tone that made Austin grimace at him.

Austin wanted to yell at Jake, just like how he would yell at Ana. But he kept his cool since he realised that it was his best friend. "Just a moment, please!" He whispered between clenched teeth, turning his attention to Ana again.

He was carefully observing all her expressions and waiting for her to make a call or take action. If she didn't do it now, she might do it in the future. And the listening device hidden beneath her desk would let him hear everything she said and Austin could listen to everything on his laptop that had the device connected.

Austin walked around the desk and finally took his seat. He decided to get to work, but then he heard a voice. Not only he, but Jake became inquisitive as well, turning his chair over and focusing intently on the laptop.

"Oh, Hitler is always putting me to work. I arrived so early that I couldn't even see my crush's lovely smile. It's all right! As long as I have a photo of him."

Did she just call her boss "Hitler?" Well, that came as a shock to both the friends.

Austin glanced at Ana and he noticed her grabbing her phone as she began glancing at the screen intently. Her lips curved upwards into an endearing smile as she spoke, "Hey, Jonny Boy, when will you realize how much I adore you? You're the epitome of perfection. I adore you to death. I wish I could tell you how I'm feeling, but I believe you're dating someone. My life is bad enough as it is, so I wouldn't be surprised if you aren't single."

Austin and Jake exchanged a perplexed glance. They expected to learn some office secrets that Ana must be keeping from the two, however, this personal secret was surely shocking. Did that mean she had feelings for John?

Austin continued to glance at Jake, who was lost in his thoughts.

No, she likes John? How can she? He's a playboy. He doesn't sleep around, but he loves flirting. Ahh!!! Can't she consider my feelings for her?

Jake felt a pang in his heart. He wouldn't say he loved Ana yet, but he was sure that he somehow liked her enough to feel jealous to know about her feelings for some other guy who wasn't him. Not only that, but he liked her so much that he was jealous of his close friend who he technically grew up with.

Austin's next sentence brought him out of the trance. "Does she have a thing for John? This is the joke of the day." He began laughing as he imagined his clumsy secretary acting like a whipped teenager for his best friend.

"I know he's a friend of ours, but... He just isn't deserving of her." Jake let out a sigh. His lips didn't even stretch upwards at Austin's comments.

Jake's reaction made Austin raise his brow dubiously. "I've always wanted to ask you. Do you like her?" He inquired but when he saw Jake's shocked expression, his eyes narrowed as if he was signalling him to change his answer if it was a "yes."

Jake gulped but when he noticed his best friend's scary gaze, he couldn't help but stutter, "W-what a-are y-"

"Yes, you do. It's no surprise that you've always taken her side. Even when I asked you to install a listening device in her cabin, you tried to change my mind several times. I mean, seriously? This clumsy clown?" Austin burst out laughing again and Jake couldn't help but blush.

"Hey, stop! I don't like her or anything. It's just that she's cute."

Jake's reply made Austin wave his hand as if he were trying to dismiss the point his friend made. "You know what, Jake, even if she was the last girl on the planet, I'd sooner die alone than date her. She irritates me."

"Yes yes, you hate her with all your heart." Jake rolled his eyes teasingly after hearing his comment.

"That's right," he replied annoyingly.

"Whatever the case may be. When she's there, I just have a good time." Jake responded and glanced at Ana with a smile.

"Dude, get a life. You're in desperate need of it right now."

"At the very least, mine is better than yours. Anyway, I'll leave you to enjoy listening to her." Jake said, rising on his feet and moving toward the door, not before glancing at his crush one last time. Her smiling face made him smile and he would never lie, but his heartbeat increased as well.

"Fine. Get going!" Austin exclaimed but shook his head when he noticed Jake's attention fixed on Ana for a few seconds before he left his cabin in a daze.

As soon as Jake left, Austin decided to get back to his work. The laptop was already open and he could hear everything Ana spoke. Hence, he decided to check the files that he was supposed to do because there was still time for her to come to his office according to his regular time. This meant he didn't need to put AirPods because Ana wouldn't approach him for some more time and he wouldn't be caught.

Fifteen minutes passed and the two were busy with their work. It appeared like Austin had forgotten about the whole listening device thing. However, he heard a phone ringing and he was sure that it was Ana's phone.

He stopped working and continued to stare at Ana, who picked up the phone.

"Yes, brother?" She spoke, as she continued working on her laptop and waited for the other person to speak. "Bro, I'm at work." She spoke, but soon she closed her eyes, pressing her lips to not burst out at her brother.

"No, brother, I'm working FOR the child of my boss's father's wife. But, because he isn't here yet, I'm not working WITH him right now. I'm a PA, and I have a few files to finish before he arrives an-"

She rolled her eyes when she was interrupted. It seemed like he was speaking something she did not like even a bit because she began massaging her temples.

"Big Bear, we had a great conversation yesterday. You should know that I love my job. I find my boss irritating at times, but he works extremely hard. And, as his PA, I have a responsibility to maintain the reputation of him as well as his firm. Now is not the time to discuss this with you. You're well aware that I'll never work for you. So, if you'll excuse me, I need to work."

With that, she quickly disconnected the call. She placed the phone on her desk with a thud and tried to breathe a few times to calm her anger. Soon, she muttered to herself, "I feel like I should arrive early and leave late. That's the only way I can avoid my brother for the time being. I don't know what's with him being concerned about my boss. Whatever it is, at least working here, distracts me from thinking about worthless things."

Within a minute, she walked out of her cabin and Austin assumed she had gone to the office cafe.

However, Austin was confused. What exactly was wrong with her brother? Why was he calling her and annoying her early in the morning? Why was he concerned about Austin? Did he even know him?

Whatever it was, Austin let go of all the thoughts and smiled to himself when he thought about how Ana at least enjoyed her work and was diligently working for him as his PA. Maybe she wasn't that bad, but he was now curious to know what secrets she held and he was ready to know all of those.
