The snow of Snowdin was pure white and at least a foot or two deeper than usual, you didn't mind as walking through it was kind of fun. The sudden angry yell from ahead made you stop and look through the falling snow to find a red scarf fluttering on someone's back and bright red hair.

"WHY DID ALPHYS DO THAT!?"

"She didn't mean it Pap!! It was an accident!!"

You quicken your pace to find yourself meeting face to face with Papyrus and Undyne who both looked a little... shaken?

"Uh... what's happened?"

"ALPHYS WAS DOING AN EXPERIMENT AND-"

"Paps? It may be best if she finds out herself."

He sighs and nods, its irritating to you how they won't talk but knowing their personalities well you know that they won't talk now that they've decided not to.

"Fine... where is the... experiment..?"

"It's at Paps house. Just uh... be prepared."

They both quickly walk off before you could get another word in, once again slightly irritating you. Your feet once again crunch through the snow but this time with a destination in mind. As the house enters view you notice that no lights were on in the wooden home, suggesting that Sans is either asleep or not home. The door was slightly open and you slowly walk in, straining your eyes to see in the dark room. As you close the door your suddenly pushed by a heavy object to the ground with your arms pinned to your sides.

"Hey!!"

You try and struggle but whatevers on you is rather heavy and is... curling up..?

"sorry kid... can't help it."

"Sans?"

He quickly jumps of your back and steps away as you slowly stand. You turn around to see Sans but the rooms too dark to even see your hands.

"Uh... Why are the lights off?"

"oh, sorry. i'll turn them on."

The sudden light blinds you and you quickly cover your eyes, blinking to try and adjust to the small blinds of light that escape through your fingers. You move your hand once your sure you can see but flinch backwards at the sight in front of you, at Sans. His skull contorts at the top of his head to two pointed tips with small tufts of fur inside and a skeletal tail whips around behind him. He looks at his tail and back towards you, a blue blush spread across his face.

"uh... hey."

"Alphys..?"

"lab accident. i... sorta pushed alphys out of the way of an explosion so..."

He gestures to himself and shyly smiles, you cant help but feel a little proud of him for saving Alphys. A lizard, or dinosaur, cat would be kind of scary in your mind.

"Well, I think it suits you. Cats are pretty lazy..."

"she called the purr-amedics but i'm fine on how i look meow."

You can't help but laugh at his cat puns which he seems to be pretty proud of now that he has more material to work with. You suddenly remember about something you had once left in Papyrus' room and you run in there without an explanation. You quickly search in the desk drawers and pull out a small metal object before racing back downstairs and jumping onto the couch beside Sans.

"hey kid. whatcha got there?"

Without answering you press the small button on top of it and a little red dot appears on the wall opposite of you.

"no."

"Please?"

"no way."

Even though he's refusing his head follows the red dot around the room while you hold in your laughter. Slowly the dot moves closer to him and his tail flicks around, barely missing your face. He suddenly jumps off the couch and pounces onto the dot, checking under his hands once he stops. 

"where'd it go..."

You break into uncontrollable laughter as the skeleton cat stands and rubs the back of his head, once again blushing. You calm down enough to hold down the button again which Sans begins chasing around the room.

"This is adorable..."

You see Sans' cheekbones go a deeper blue but he continues chasing the red dot until he literally falls to the ground, breathing heavily dispite having no lungs.

"Sorry Sans..."

"no... problem... kid... it was... pretty...fun..."

Feeling bad you pick him up from his place on the floor and bring him back to the couch, laying him down beside you. You feel tired yourself and close your eyes, laying your head against the back of the couch, but quickly open them when you feel a weight on your stomach.

"uh... it's not... comfortable on that side of the couch..."

His head is facing up on your stomach with his eyes looking away, seeming to be waiting for you to move him off you. Instead you start scratching the spot behind his right ear, making him flinch but quickly relax. The sound of something a lot like a far off engine is heard and you quickly realise that the skeleton is purring loudly, you resist calling him cute. You close your eyes again and slowly continue to scratch behind his ear as you fall asleep.

"(y/n)... (y/n) wake up please..."

Your eyes slowly open to see the cat-ified skeleton sitting beside you, wide eyed staring at the door without moving an inch. You yawn and rub the sleep from your eyes as you look over at the door yourself.

"What's wrong?"

"there's someone at the door... but they haven't knocked..."

Sighing you stand and walk towards it with a worried skeletons gaze following you. You quickly open the door to see Alphys writing something down in a small notebook.

"Oh, hello Alphys!"

She looks up and shyly smiles, putting her book and pencil into her lab coats pocket.

"H-Hello (y/n)! I came to see how Sans was d-doing."

"He's fine. Just a little anxious about the fact you were standing at the door and never knocked."

A tail flicked you in the back but you ignore it and let Alphys inside, shutting out the cold outside wind. Without even asking Alphys starts examining Sans with her notebook out again, ignoring the swishing tail and his moved backears.

"Alphys... I don't think Sans likes you... examining him."

She doesn't even seem to hear you, her eyes and mind are too focused on the transformed skeleton. Without warning Sans hisses and claws at Alphys, barely missing the rim of her glasses.

"Sans!!"

You pull Alphys back as you look at Sans, fear and disappointment showing though your eyes. He look down at his now clawed hands and seems almost scared of what he just did, more scared than Alphys. In a blink he disappears from the room leaving you alone with the scientist.

"I-I'm sorry... I was... j-just..."

You sigh and pat her back to try and help her calm down. Your mind wanders to where Sans might be but his shortcuts can take him literally anywhere in the Underground without letting anyone know where. Sighing you and Alphys call everyone up, telling them what happened and how scared of himself Sans looked. Papyrus was the most concerned, saying that he'll search throughout the entirety of Waterfall himself for his brother. Alphys leaves once Undyne comes to pick her up and as soon as they do you grab your jacket and go out searching yourself. It's not his fault he hissed, neither is it Alphys'. He's just scared of things he's not sure about.

"Where are you Sans..?"
