I feel the light appearing to be holding me
I taste the bitter chilly night air
I lie awake I cant believe its 2 am
But once again, there's nothing there

Your mind was in a blur. You remember being surrounded by fire, the smoke suffocating you. You closed your eyes, coughing as you laid on the ground. When you opened your eyes again, all you saw was white.

"Mom? Dad? Sans? Pap? Frisk? Anybody!?" you screamed out into the bright nothingness.

Your watch read 2:00, but was that am or pm? You shouted again, not expecting an answer.

There is no heat in my lighter
As if a fire could burn away from inside
Although my life has all been a lie
Somehow I knew that this would soon be the end

"Do you mind? It's two in the freakin' morning and I'd like to get some more sleep before my folks get back" a male voice said from behind you.

You whirled around to see a skeleton. Unlike the two you were familiar with, his bones were mostly black. His fingers were yellow and magenta and his cheeks had a splatter of what looked like paint on them. The most peculiar part of him was the top of his skull which floated up like liquid.

Normally you would be very cautious of the stranger, but seeing how he was groggy and his clothes are disheveled, you don't really believe he means to do harm.

And in my dreams, you were laying there just scraping for air
My fingers wrapped your throat in a wheezing kind of heaving all of
Air from your struggling body and soul 
While leaping cries were silently filling my eyes

Pj got a better look at you before taking a step back in shock. You were the kid that Nightmare attacked in his dreams. He remembered seeing Nightmare strangle you as your home burned.

"Who are you and how did you get here?" he asked.

"I'm (y/n) and I don't know. There was a fire and I couldn't breathe then I just sorta woke up here"

He looked at you sadly, this wasn't good and his parents were gonna be back with Mr. Dream at anytime.

"Where exactly am I and who are you?" you asked.

"Come with me, I'll explain everything at my house. You must be hungry and tired" Pj said offering you his hand.

You nodded and took his hand.

Let me jump into a core so deep
So I can finally take the leap and maybe fly for once
Then the blue explosion will swallow me amazingly                                                                                 As I fall so far into the light                                                                                                                                  With all it's beauty I just might feel all my tears again                                                                     Please forgive all my sins that are slowly melting into me

You sat on the couch in his living room drinking a cup of buttercup tea.

"My name's Paperjam but you can call me Pj. This place is called the antivoid"

"Antivoid?" you were slightly confused, you knew about the void but this was new.

"Basically, this is the center of the multiverse. There's portals all over this place that lead to different AU's and timelines" Pj said trying to break it down for you.

"Oh, Sans mentioned some stuff about altered timelines and worlds a while back. We all thought the lack of sleep and excessive drinking was getting to him"

"Ah that's right! You come from the origin universe. He always was acutely aware of  the timeline paradoxes"

I hear a sound their slowly stepping up the stairs
And though a door to anywhere else
I stand alone and under such a gloomy cloud
A small window will lead me there

The front door opened and closed followed by several pairs of feet making their way up the stairs.

"Jammy, we're home! Are you feeling better now that you've rested?" a voice called entering the room.

three more skeletons entered the room. One however is immediately recognizable.

"Mr. Ink!" you yipped happily.

Pj and the other two looked at you and Ink with confusion.

"You know my dad?" Pj asked.

Ink pondered a moment.

"Oh! You were the kid with Sans when I visited the origin universe!" he beamed remembering.

Oh what is this? Such a beautiful light!
The sun it weeps and cries like a puffy red eye
The world is sad and it's starting to die
But in the end this world will just melt in my hands 

"That's su-uper great of yo-ou to remem-member them Inky" the stringed skeleton said rolling his eyelights behind his glasses.

"I think Error's point is why are they here?" the other one chimed.

"Nightmare brought her here after he killed her" Pj said grimly as he looked his company dead in the eye sockets.

"Oh dear, so Sans was correct when he claimed that he spotted Nightmare leaving. He was an absolute mess when he discovered the remains of the young human's home and their disappearance" the caped skeleton was troubled by the new evidence.

"Sans! Is he alright!? What about Mom and Dad!? I have to go home they need me!" You were in a full blown panic.

"Woah there human! I'm afraid you can't go back just yet. The entire AU was evacuated and they were all split up through the main four AU's, Origin, swap, fell, and shift"

And in my dreams, you were laying there just scraping for air
The curtains dance like something I'd seen inside a movie theater
Lips are now breaking and then try to speak
But all my words were quietly all melting away

"Dream, I'm sure we can at least let her see her parents and Sans. It'll put a lot of minds at ease" Ink said rubbing the back of his skull.

"I'll take her, if you don't mind dad" Pj said.

"Alright, I do believe I left the skeletons and Dreemurs in Shift" Ink said waving them off.

"Be-e-careful you two. Co-ome back whe-en you've fin-n-ished" Error said patting your backs.

Pj opened the portal just in time to see Sans passing by with whom you presume is this worlds version of your mother Toriel.

"Sans!" you shout running into his arms.

"(Y/n)! Kid!, You're okay! Thank the stars! We were so worried" he cried holding you tight.

Soon enough the others heard the commotion. All just as emotional and grateful for your return. After a few minutes things settled down.

"Heya, um sorry to cut the reunion short, but we gotta go. Nightmare is still after you for whatever reason, so it's not safe for you to stay here too long.

"Wait just a second there bucko! Where are you taking them?" Sans growled, his eye flashing.

"They'll stay with my folks and I in the antivoid for now. Don't worry though, I promise to bring them back to visit every so often. Unfortunately, this will be the routine until we can either capture Nightmare or negate the threat towards them."

You said your goodbyes and followed Pj back through the portal. 

And all at once, a quiet has come over me
Then a memory
A laugh without a sound from haunting ghosts have plagued my mind
Their silent voices echoing through time and space

You smiled and waved until the portal closed back up. You sighed sinking onto the floor. The house once again appears to be empty aside from you and Pj. He joined you on the floor. 

Pj was silent, trying to find the words that'll make things seem better. He just had to take you away from your family and friends. You were stuck here for an unknown amount of time with monsters you didn't really know. Overall the situation sucked.

After a while, you broke the silence with a light chuckle.

"You okay?" Pj asked.

"I'll manage. Things right now could be worse"

"They could also be better" he said slumping forward.

"True but, a couple hours ago, I thought I was dead. I thought I was stuck in some odd version of limbo for all eternity alone. I was terrified until you found me. Then I found my family. Sure things suck ass right now, but at least I'm not alone. I'm alive, they're alive, so I know if I just keep going, if I just keep living, we'll make it out of this alright" You smiled closing your eyes and leaning your head against his shoulder.

And in my dreams, this sad world was being covered in night 
And midnight struck like something I'd seen inside a haunted house
And now when the nightmares have come to attack
I cannot breathe, and this is all the time have left

Gyaaa!

Pj returned the smile as he put his arm around your shoulder. He felt something warm bubble deep in his chest as he mulled over your words. Without warning a hearty laugh escaped from deep within his throat and chest.

Let me jump into a core so deep
So I can finally make the leap - and maybe fly for once
And everything I was torturing will melt away with everything
Can you hear me telling you good bye
So that the sun can finally rise
And melt down everything 
into a kind happy smaller world that maybe I could give to you
I know...This world has melt down

You looked at him, startled by his sudden burst of laughter.

"Pj, bud, are.....you okay?" you asked quirking your brow.

"Sorry, I just find it kinda funny how my Dad was right about you humans. You can be thrown into the most screwed up situation that puts you in danger, and as long as you know that you and the ones you care most for are safe, you always have the confidence and determination that you'll make it through to the end" he answered wiping a few tears away.

"Hehe yeah I guess we are like that"

"That's the best part about you. Most monsters in this situation would give up all hope, but since we've been introduced to humans like you, you give us something to be hopeful for. So (Y/n) don't ever change"

"Thanks Jammy, I don't plan on changing anytime soon" you smile hugging him.
