Finally Over [9] -Final-
"W-Well, I'll see what I can d-do..."
"Okay, thank you Alphys."
After Sans and Frisk had collected Chara's soul, they had quickly gone back to the present time, and met up with Gaster and Flowey. Flowey was obviously furious, because of Chara's death. However, Frisk was able to stop Flowey from making any sudden moves, as she told him that they were there to revive her. Now, they were currently in Alphys' house, about to use the very same machine on Chara, that they had used on Sans previously in the timeline, when he had to be revived. Sans still thought it was a bad idea... But if Frisk really believed Chara wasn't going to straight up destroy everything, he was just going to have to listen to her... He wanted to trust her judgement after all...
"O-Okay, s-so, just put her soul in this p-part of the machine. Again, the machine will try to b-bring her back, as close as she was to her original state as possible."
"as close to her original state as possible, huh?" He slightly frowned towards Frisk as he said that. Alphys nodded.
"Yes, that is correct."
"Will this definitely work though? Because I thought when you used this machine, you had to have something from their old body to bring them back." Frisk wondered.
"O-Oh, n-no. This machine w-works very differently f-for monsters and humans. F-For monsters, you obviously need the soul, and the d-dust of their body to bring t-them back. Whenever a h-human dies, all you need is t-the soul to be able to r-revive them..."
"I see..." Frisk replied. "Well then... Here goes." She muttered. Stepping forward, she placed Chara's soul into the machine. Compared to how the machine reacted to Sans' soul, the machine was a lot more erratic this time. Sans and Gaster gave each other a worried side glance, as the machine shook a little too much for their liking.
"W-Woah... I've never s-seen the machine act t-this way before..." Alphys mumbled. Just as she said that, the machine stopped shaking, and there was an almost blinding flash. Just as the room started to clear, everyone opened their eyes again, looking back towards the machine. The bed that sat inside it, slowly started to come out, revealing the human figure, of a girl wearing a green and yellow stripped jumper... It was Chara, laying unconscious on the machine's bed.
"Chara!!" Flowey exclaimed, quickly disappearing into the ground and reappearing beside her. He stared down at her with a frown. She looked so peaceful, compared to the look she had on her face earlier, when she was trying to kill everyone. "Chara...? Can you hear me...?" Flowey muttered. "Why isn't she waking up!?"
"calm down, flowey. it just takes a couple of seconds for her to wake up." Sans explains. Flowey glared towards him.
"Shut up, smiley trashbag! You know, if you hadn't killed her, we wouldn't have had to do this!"
"oh shut it, flowey. just maybe be grateful that she's been brought back at all. we could have just left her soul to shatter in the past, but instead, we brought her back here. so stop complaining."
"No, why don't you--!!!" Flowey screamed at him.
"A-Asriel...?" A voice murmured, interrupting Flowey. Flowey turned towards Chara, with a look of surprise upon his face. Slowly, she started to open her eyes, and gazed towards Flowey. Her usual red pupils, were now a normal looking shade of green.
"C-Chara...?" Flowey whispered in response. Chara sat up, staring back at her old best friend. "Are you okay...?"
"W-Where... Where am I...?" Chara lightly said, as she pressed her hand on her forehead, looking very confused.
"You're in Alphys' house." Frisk said, which caused Chara to be startled, as if Chara hadn't even noticed she was there.
"F-Frisk...?" Chara stuttered. "How did I...? How did I get here...? I thought I was..." She trailed off. Her eyes widened, as the moment flashed back in her mind, remembering when she had been killed by Sans. That's when her eyes darted straight for him, and he stared back at her, looking a little uncomfortable. No one expected it, but out of nowhere, Chara jumped off the bed, burst into tears, and practically dived at Sans in a flying hug, which REALLY took him by surprise.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!!!" She repeated over and over. Sans stood, a little awkwardly, not really knowing how to address the situation. He and Chara had been enemies for as long as he could remember. Now to have her sobbing at his knees and apologizing over and over, was so strange to say the least. Never in his life would he have seen this moment coming. With a small frown on his face, Sans hesitantly took one of his hands out of his pockets.
"Don't hurt her!" Flowey screeched, almost getting ready to fire "friendly-ness pellets" at the skeleton. But instead of harming her, Sans grinned, as he ruffled her hair.
"heh... you're alright kid." Sans managed to say. Chara's eyes widened, and she looked up at him in surprise.
"Y-You mean... You don't hate me?! I tried to kill you, over and over! Ruin your life! Laugh at your misfortune and take Frisk from you! You can't say you don't hate me!"
"trust me kid, i never said that i really liked ya all that much either... but the truth is, if you've really... stopped doin' what you've been doing... maybe you'll be able to gain my trust... but trust me, chara. you try and screw any of us over, ever again... and i'll come down on you harder than ever. ya got that? i ain't taking no shit from you." Sans bluntly said. Flowey glared at the skeleton, half expecting Chara to get upset by what he said. But she nodded in agreement.
"Right! I perfectly understand... You have every right to not really like me... None of you do..... But I will do my best to redeem myself! I'm not dark anymore... I don't know why... But before I died, I felt a strange feeling overwhelm me. Not hate, but... Love... It was a feeling I never experienced before... And... I feel like that was kinda thanks to you, Flowey." She said, dropping her arms to her sides and turning towards her best friend.
"B-Because of me...?" Flowey whispered in response. She slowly nodded, a small sad smile on her face.
"Oh, Chara... I'm so sorry... For everything..." Flowey continued, as he started to tear up. "I'm not who I was anymore, when I was your best friend... I'm soulless... It's rare for me to even feel compassion or love... I'm glad that you're back, Chara... But I feel like if I stick around you, I'll just make you sad, or I'll make you hate me, because I don't feel a single thing when I'm around anyone!"
Chara took a step closer towards him, and knelt down in front of him, continuing to smile. "If you don't ever feel anything... Then why are you crying?" Chara wondered. She giggled. "Don't worry, Flowey... I'll help you feel again, I promise. Even if you aren't your old goat self, and you're a flower, I can still help. I'll still be by your side, okay?"
"R-Really...?"
"Really." Chara nodded. Shakily, Flowey formed a vine out of the floor, and brought it out in front of him.
"C-Can we shake on it?" He quietly asked. She giggled again and nodded, bringing out her pinky, and hooking it with the vine, as a pinky promise. That, in itself, was enough to send both Chara and Flowey into an utter fountain of tears. Chara somehow lightly wrapped her arms around the small flower, as Flowey wrapped his vines gently around Chara in a warm embrace. The others stared at the two, with huge grins on their face.
"So... Looks like it's finally over..." Gaster sighed, feeling relaxed.
"Agreed... I'm so happy..." Frisk smiled. Sans chuckled, slipping his arm across her shoulders.
"you should be... you were right, frisk... you really could help chara become a better person. you just stayed determined." He said. She nodded in agreement, as she blushed a little and gave Sans a quick kiss on the cheek. Alphys also smiled.
"I f-feel very c-confused as to whatever h-has gone on in my a-absence... B-But whatever did happen, it s-seems to be sorted now... Which is so g-good..."
"Agreed.... It's over now..." Frisk smiled.
"yep.... it's finally over..."
