Where did you go? (sansxfrisk)

"Sans?" Sans turned towards his brother, curiously wondering what the taller skeleton called him for.

"Yeah Papy? What's crackin?" He asked. He had been looking for Frisk, who had disappeared a while back. He knew they weren't dead but they had apparently not gotten to the core yet. He wondered what was taking so long.

"Have you seen the human? Alphys said they suddenly disappeared in hotland. Like they had teleported." Papyrus asked, worried about their human friend that they had grown to care about. Sans goes wide eye.

"No paps but imma go look. You stay here and wait to see if they show up." Sans told him before heading off, quickly teleporting once out of view. He didn't know of anyone that could teleport like him. Sans defiantly knew that Frisk couldn't. Where did they go?

Why did his magic churn in his stomach at the thought of something being wrong with Frisk?

{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}

It had been a month since Frisk the human had disappeared. All of them had looked for the human but had been unable to find them. Alphys has searched all of her cameras, unable to figure out even where Frisk had disappeared at. It was somewhere between two blind spots on her cameras, making it impossible to figure out if someone had grabbed the human.

All Sans knew was that Frisk was alive. If they weren't, they would have resetted. He knew of their ability and had been able to sense when they were alive or not. Meaning they were alive somewhere.

None of the monsters throughout the underground could find the human. Even Asgore hadn't seen them come by, having learned of the human his subjects cared for so much. Toriel had come out of the ruins to help with the search, now distraught with worry.

Undyne had sent out the royal guard to search in the more shady and dangerous parts of the underground, in case someone had kidnapped them. But there wasn't a trace of the human in sight.

Sans wondered briefly if his ability to tell if they were alive wasn't working anymore. It wouldn't make sense though, why wouldn't Frisk reset if that was the case? He knew that they were alive, somewhere. He needed to find them. And possibly blast them with a gaster blaster for making everyone worry so much. Okay. That was a bit much, but he would still be mad at them.

Papyrus had stopped making spaghetti, too worry about their human friend to partake in his favourite dish. Undyne had stopped bench pressing monsters. Alphys had stopped watching mew mew missy cutie. They were both always on the hunt for Frisk now.

Frisk, where did you go?

{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}

At this point, three months have gone by. Monsters are giving up looking for Frisk now, figuring the human dead by now. Sans wouldn't stop, however. He knew they were alive. They had to be.

Despite everyone saying to give up, that by now the human would have died by starvation, he knew that they weren't. They were alive, SOMEWHERE, in the underground. He wishes he could figure out where though. He wanted his Frisk back. The human he could make puns with. The human that would brave his brother's spaghetti just to make him happy, even though it killed Frisk once. The human that had the DETERMINATION to keep trying, again and again, to break the barrier so they could make it to the surface.

Sans searched day and night for the human. He searched every corner of the underground, just for some clue of the human being alive. That's all he needed.

Sans needed it. He needed to at least know they were alive somewhere.

"Frisk?" Sans said, searching for them still, "Where did you go?"

{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}

Another month has gone by and Sans is starting to lose hope. He doesn't want to but it is wearing down on him. Frisk hasn't appeared. They haven't reset. Sans wonders if they died and lost their ability. Maybe they fell into the lava. That would of been a painful death for such a nice human. Maybe Chara was trying to take over, and in order to keep from another genocide, Frisk didn't reset? It's possible. Chara rarely ever took over though. Frisk was stronger than them.

Nothing about this made sense to Sans. Something wasn't adding up about the human's disappearance. A human didn't just disappear like that. Unless they wanted to maybe.

"Frisk, just where are you?" Sans wondered aloud to himself, never noticing the hooded figure creep away to not be seen.

{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}

Sans had about lost all hope on finding Frisk. It had been half a year now. He barely went to Grillby's now, not wanting to remember his memories of his time with Frisk there. It hurt to think they were dead.

He wished he at least knew what happened to them so he could move past it all. If they had died, he wanted to know how at least. Was it painful? Did they die painlessly? Were they happy with their death? Why didn't they reset if they died?

So many things didn't add up with all of it. Sans wished he could figure out what happened. It made the punny skeleton wonder if they weren't dead sometimes.

"Sans?" Grillby called, snapping the skeleton out of his thoughts. He looked at the fiery bartender, Grillby knowing exactly what was on his longtime friend's mind.

"Yeah Grillz? What's up?" Sans asked with a lazy grin. Grillby sighed softly worried about him.

"You still need to pay your tab." He reminded. Sans waved it off.

"Yeah yeah. Don't douse yourself with worry I'll pay it. ((I... am very proud of that pun xD))" Sans told him with a grin. Grillby rolled his eyes, noticing a cloaked figure come into the bar. It was a normal occurrence. Apparently, they had been hurt badly and didn't want to show themselves. It was understandable at times.

Sans blinked at the new arrival. "Who's that Grillby?" He asked curiously. They felt familiar.

"They started showing up a few months ago. They got hurt badly apparently and do not like to show themselves because of it." Grillby explained, going to the back to make the hooded figure's fries, knowing that was regular. Sans blinked in surprise having never seen them before.

He went over to the corner booth where they had sat alone and grinned at them. "Hey there. I've never seen you before." He said. He almost missed the slight wince coming from the figure. Almost.

"I haven't seen you either. I don't come to town much. Only to get what is necessary and to occasionally eat here." The figure said. Sans felt like their voice was strangely familiar, but at the same time strange.

"Ahh. Well, I'm Sans, Sans the skeleton. People tend to say I'm quite the punster." Sans introduced himself and held out a hand. The figure flinched again, moving away.

"I-I'm sorry I don't feel comfortable touching others." The figure said quietly. Sans dropped his hand.

"Alright alright. I get it I'm quite a sight for sore eyes. Might scare ya a bit." He joked. The figure smiled under their cloak. Not that Sans could see.

"I guess you could say you would make a human's skeleton jump out of their skin? ((Not... so proud of that joke))" The figure joked weakly. Sans chuckled a bit as Grillby set down the fries. The figure slowly reached out to grab a fry, accidentally showing their hand slightly. Their human hand.

Sans eye sockets widen and pulled back their hood, revealing Frisk. Frisk started at him like a deer in headlights. They had an eye covered in a patch, along with numerous scars all over their body. "Frisk?!" Sans exclaimed, the bar going dead silent ((ha. Slightly a pun)) and looking over, looking at the human in shock.

Frisk froze before suddenly teleporting, startling everyone even more.

Sans ran out, hoping to catch sight of the human but it was too late. They were gone.

"Frisk where did you go?" Sans said as he teleported off to find Alphys and figure out what was going on.

{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}

It had been two weeks since Sans had seen Frisk in Grillby's bar. Everyone had been on the hunt for the human, their hope renewed. Sans wanted to know what had happened to the human, and why they ran from him.

He wanted to know how they had powers like his.

Nothing made sense anymore. Alphys had managed to get the whole encounter in Grillby's recorded. Everyone was on high alert looking for the human. They had narrowed the area where Frisk appeared to be in Snowdin. It was a problem task however since there were numerous places the human could be. Snowdin's forests were thick and hard to find anything in. You could easily lose yourself if you weren't careful.

Sans searched the most out of everyone. He wanted to find Frisk.

Frisk where did you go? was the question on everyone's mind.

{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}

Alphys had found traces of Frisk in waterfall, in a secluded area not easily accessible to a monster. Sans instantly headed to the spot. He had to catch them before they ran again. He couldn't lose them again. He wouldn't.

Sans watched as Frisk went around their small cave hideaway. It's obvious that this is where the had been living for the past few months. How had no one noticed? Especially with all the searching they did. The skeleton waited for an opening before taking it, grabbing Frisk before they could teleport away. Frisk squeaked in surprise and did something Sans DID NOT except. They summoned their own Gaster blaster, shooting at him.

Sans quickly teleported out of the way as Frisk just started to cry. He frowned. "Frisk? What's going on? What happened?" He asked, getting closer to them. Frisk moved away.

"St-stay away! I'll hurt you! Please do-don't come any closer!" Frisk yelled crying. It was obvious now that light was shining behind the patch they had on their eye.

Something clicked inside Sans.

"Did... did Gaster experiment on you? Is that why you disappeared?" Sans asked. He moved closer to them, almost in reach.

Frisk just started crying more before teleporting off. Sans frowned, teleporting after and sees them running. He wouldn't lose them again.

The chase was on. Sans chasing after Frisk through the underground. Teleporting after them. Dodging blasters. It was obvious that Frisk was not aiming at him, just trying to get him to stay away.

Finally sans cornered Frisk. Who had started to run out of magic at that point. He pinned them down and knocked them out with a pressure point he had learned about on the human. With that, he picked up the human gently, who slept in his arms, looking smaller and frailer than they already were, tears in their eyes still. Sans frowned.

"Frisk... Where did you go?" Sans asked before teleporting to Alphys to get the human checked out.
{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}

Sans and Alphys couldn't believe what they found out. Frisk's soul had been merged with a monster. Not just any monster either. It had merged with Gaster's soul. Not only that. It wasn't a normal merging of when a human absorbed a monster's soul. They were perfectly merged together.

Frisk slept as they discussed what could have happened. Sans could add up anything at this point. He wondered what happened. His father had been dead for a long time. Having fallen into his own creation. His soul shouldn't be around. Even then he hated humans when he was alive, he wouldn't merge like this with Frisk. This connection between the souls was peaceful and not forced. Not like Frisk would willingly kill someone. Gaster would have killed Frisk and taken their soul if anything.

Alphys had created anti-teleporters and set them up so Frisk couldn't escape when they awoke. They felt bad about trapping them but they couldn't let this continue. They wanted to help Frisk.

As Frisk slowly started to wake up, Sans moved beside them. He knew they would be angry at him for what he did. He didn't care though. He wanted his pun pal back.

"Hey buddy." Sans said quietly. Frisk's eye shot wide open as they quickly sat up. They looked around looking nervous and scared. Alphys came over.

"F-Frisk you a-are in my lab. R-remember this place? C-calm down please b-before you hurt yourself." Alphys stuttered out. Frisk whimpered slightly.

"I can't stay here though I'll just hurt you guys! I can't afford to hurt you guys!" Frisk yelled, putting their head in their hands, freaking out, not sure why they couldn't teleport away. They felt drained. They had to get away before they lost control.

Sans frowned. "Frisk. What happened to you? Why is your soul merged with Gaster?" He asked. Frisk just whispered. Alphys quickly dragged Sans out of the room. Sans frowned, not wanting to leave yet.

"S-sans give them time. They're s-scared." Alphys told him. She knew Sans had been the most worried about Frisk. He hadn't given up on them. But she knew Frisk was scared for some reason. Something had happened while they were missing. Something horrible.

Sans sighed out. "Fine." Before walking away. He wanted to help Frisk. He knew that questioning them wouldn't help but he had to know what happened. So much didn't make sense.

"Frisk. Where did you go?" Sans asked softly, heading home.

{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}{|}

Slowly, Frisk started to recover. They still would flinch and not let others get close but they were getting better. They hadn't answered any of their questions as to what happened or where they disappeared to either.

After a few weeks of recovering, Frisk's scars faded away, barely any actually permanently marking their skin luckily. They didn't try to escape as they did before. Sans was anxious to find out what happened but he wasn't allowed to see them until they recovered.

Sans couldn't wait though, and one night he snuck into Frisk's room. Frisk was sitting in bed, the patch of their eye, concentrating. Their eye glowed a soft reddish purple. Sans watched in a slight daze.

Frisk was startled out of their trance when they heard sans. Looking at him and quickly covering up their eye with the patch, which Sans noticed to be faded completely white, they looked away. "What are you doing in here? I thought Alphys said you weren't allowed?" They said quietly. Sans frowned. He knew this wasn't normal of Frisk.

"I wanted to check up on my fellow punster. How is it going? Learned any new puns while gone?" He said, trying to lighten the mood. Frisk smiled softly while looking at the wall.

"I don't know, are you going to try to bone me up for what happened?" Frisk joked slightly. Sans chuckled a bit sitting next to them.

"Good one." He said after a moment. Then they say in silence. Just relishing each other's presence.

Sans was just glad to have his buddy back.
