Your Judge And Protector [2]
"ya sure you're gonna be comfortable with just sleeping on the couch?" Sans questioned as he handed Undyne a pillow and a blanket which she happily took to set up to allow her to relax. She let out a small laugh, smirking at him as she went to lie down.
"You're the one whose asking me that question? You can practically fall asleep anywhere." Undyne pointed out, and Sans couldn't help but chuckle a little.
"alright, you have a point." Sans agreed with a nod as Frisk reentered the room, changed into her pyjama trousers and shirt. She was just busy drying her hair with a towel as she had just gone to have a shower seeing as everyone was getting ready to go to bed. Alphys and Papyrus had gone back to their own homes, so now it was just Undyne, Sans and Frisk under the same roof for now.
"Well, let us know if you need anything, okay?" Frisk smiled with the towel just hanging over her hair. Undyne nodded, taking what Frisk said into consideration.
"Will do!" Undyne exclaimed happily before looking like she was ready to shoo them away. "Now you guys should just go get some sleep already! You're keeping me up!" She joked with a smirk. "Though, one thing, while I'm under this roof, please keep the baby making at a minimum." Undyne teased, causing the couple to blush like there was no tomorrow. Frisk pouted as she let out a small "hmpf", sticking her nose up in the air and she turned on her heel to go to their room.
"Very funny!" Frisk answered over her shoulder. "Night, Undyne! Are you coming Sans?"
"uh... yeah." Sans nervously laughed. "night, undyne." Sans said before also deciding to follow after Frisk.
"Night!"
After that whole conversation with Undyne, Sans chuckled as he saw Frisk sitting on the edge of the bed, still trying to dry her damp hair. The skeleton smirked, crossing his arms as he leaned on the door frame.
"you need help with that, bud?" Sans wondered, already making his way across the room to sit behind her to take the towel from her. "here." He continued, gently ruffling her hair with the towel to dry it.
"Thanks." Frisk smiled a little as she exhaled, rolling her shoulders. "I'm kind of nervous about that meeting tomorrow... I wonder what's going to happen..."
"do ya know what the people you're gonna meet want to talk about?" Sans wondered, taking a small pause with the hair drying as he asked that question, before continuing up until the point he knew her hair was definitely dry. When done with the towel, he of course inevitably just laid it down next to the bed, but he promised to pick it up tomorrow.
"Well... Not really. I think mum and dad know most of the details." Frisk explained as Sans slowly nodded, showing he was listening. Seeing as he was done with her hair, he decided to lie down himself to get comfortable, whereas Frisk followed, cuddling into him as he put an arm around her and held her close.
"hey, i'm sure it won't be that bad. people actually seem to respect you after all."
"Well, not everyone." Frisk admitted with a small frown. The skeleton knew he couldn't really argue with that fact. Just like how people disagreed with the fact that monsters were on the surface, many disliked Frisk as the ambassador for them as they did not understand why she supported them at all. Luckily over the past few years, Frisk had never been targeted or attacked as her friends always tended to keep close to her in case something bad ever happened. Especially Sans.
"well, even if there are those pricks who think they can target you, you know i won't let them." Sans responded seriously, earning a small nod from Frisk.
"I know..." Frisk whispered. "I'm grateful for that, Sans. Really. But sometimes I wish you wouldn't put yourself in so much danger to protect me. I know you don't only have 1 HP now, but even with having 15, that's only like a little more damage you have to take until someone kills you." She shuddered. "And I can't see you die... Not ever again. I'd have to RESET otherwise..." Frisk mumbled. Sans pulled a face of bewilderment, as if he was thinking for a moment.
"what happened to that old machine that alphys had? the one she used on me? on chara?"
"Didn't Alphys tell you?" Frisk wondered, and Sans just simply shook his head as 'no' to that question. "It's broken. And trust me, before you ask, yes she's tried to fix it. She even asked Gaster about it. But the blueprints that were used for it just went missing or something - so I've been told." She explained.
"so they have no clue how to fix it?"
"Exactly."
"well... that's definitely problematic..." Sans murmured with a frown. Not that he was planning to get dusted any time soon. In fact, he was hoping to stay intact and well alive for as long as he possibly could to be there for Frisk. They had already been through many timelines together, many resets. From pacifist timelines to even genocidal timelines where Sans was utterly torn up over the fact that he had to kill the girl he loved over and over, because if he hadn't, none of them would even be here right now. There were too many timelines to count, and Sans and Frisk were the only two who remembered experiencing every single one of them. With all the bloodshed they had gone through, even fighting against each other, it was amazing how they were both still two people who seemed to cling to each other for dear life. But maybe all the troubles of their past, it only made them stronger.
"Yeah..." Frisk agreed. "So, you're going to want to be careful from now on. I know how you can get when you think people are going to do something... So, just try not to get yourself into too much trouble, okay?"
"trust me, frisk, i hear you loud and clear." Sans smiled, pressing his mouth against her forehead in a kiss. "there hasn't been a reset in a long time, ever since chara started living with toriel, asgore and flowey again... and you have no idea how happy that makes me. i want to be able to continue living a life with you frisk, so don't expect me to get dusted so soon."
"Sans..." Frisk sighed, a small, thankful grin falling on her lips. "You always seem to know what to say... Well, okay, I'll take your word for it." She said, as she let out a small yawn. "Anyway... I suppose we should go to sleep now, otherwise we're going to be exhausted for tomorrow."
"'course. sure thing, kiddo." Sans chuckled, as he clicked his fingers, using his magic to pull the duvet over the both of them. Frisk giggled a little, feeling nice and cosy as he snuggled into her, letting out a yawn of his own. "night, frisk..."
"Night, Sans." She answered. "I love you."
"heh..." Sans opened his eyes half way to look back at her, her own eyes staring back at him. He leaned forward for a moment, nuzzling his mouth against her lips in a kiss before pulling back and lying his head back down onto his pillow. "i love ya too."

Hearing the shower turn on so early in the morning, Sans couldn't help but groan, as he just wasn't so used to waking up at whatever 'o clock it was. He felt someone's hands on his shoulders, gently shaking him to wake up. Being so zoned out, Sans couldn't exactly hear their voice, but he was sure that was Frisk trying to awake him from his sleep.
"just a couple more minutes, frisk..." Sans moaned, until he felt the person's hands shake him way more furiously than before, causing the world to jolt into his face from complete shock. The shaking was so intense that it actually took down 1 of his 15 HP, and of course rather than it being his loving girlfriend waking him up, it just had to be Undyne who seemed to act like a commander when waking up from bed.
"Hey, punk! Get your ass up!" Undyne commanded, strolling across the room and bringing the curtains open. Sans had to shield his eyes from the light, using his boney fingers as he sighed in annoyance. Of course he had to be the only one in the house who wasn't an early bird.
"think you can be a little less demanding...?" Sans chuckled as Undyne crossed her arms from where she was standing.
"Frisk has a meeting to go to! So I'm just making sure you're not going to make her late!" Undyne pointed at him furiously before dropping her arm to her side and flashing him a more relaxed smile. "So, just get up and get dressed. And uh, sorry for the extreme shaking. But I felt like you weren't going to get up otherwise." Undyne finished, before deciding to leave the room. Sans exhaled, noticing the sound of running water had stopped, meaning Frisk was probably done in the bathroom.
Just as Sans was ready to pull his duvet off of himself, he saw Frisk reemerge into the room, wearing what looked like a plain white buttoned up blouse, a black coloured blazer, along with long jet black trousers that covered her ankles. He stared at her, his eyes slightly wider than normal, as even in such smart looking clothes, he thought she looked ever so pretty. He found it so unfair how she could practically look good in anything, while choosing clothes for him could be a nightmare. He tended to just go with the usual casual look, the hoodie with the shirt and the shorts.
"I hope that expression is a good one." Frisk teased as Sans had probably been staring at her for a full minute just not saying anything. Of course, the sound of her voice stopped him from looking like he was half there and half not, and he couldn't help but blush blue and smile as her gave her the thumbs up.
"of course it is." Sans said, getting up and walking across the room to her to pull her into a close hug. She let out a small squeal of surprise but started giggling soon after until Sans had pulled her into a kiss. "i was just thinking about how sans-ational you looked." He winked after leaning back from the kiss. Frisk laughed once more, clearly amused by his pun.
"Thanks. I'm glad you think so. I was worried it was too much... But you think this is smart enough for a meeting, right?"
"it's fine. ya don't need to stress yourself out so much." Sans beamed, ruffling her hair with his hand.
"I know, I'm trying not to. It's not like this is the first meeting I've ever gone to with mum and dad, but somehow I feel like it's more of a big deal today. I don't know why, it's just a gut feeling." Frisk shrugged. "Anyway, you should go have a shower too. I'll have to let mum know you're taking me with Undyne instead, so they know to go straight there."
"alright, i'll get on with that then." Sans said, giving her another quick peck on the lips before parting ways with her to go to the bathroom to do just as she had said. He wondered why Frisk was a little more jumpy than normal, but he supposed she might have just been having one of those days where she just felt nervous. He didn't exactly blame her.
Well, whatever happens, Sans made a mental note to cheer Frisk up if the meeting was at all stressful. Perhaps they could watch some movies, or play some video games. He was just going to wait and see how the day went.
