Chapter 20 - The Plan Of Romance

It had been two more months of spending time in the underground, until Frisk was finally able to get past Asgore and break the barrier.

Frisk had to admit, trying to take on Asgore, again, was pretty freakin' tough. Just as she remembered. But she was glad to have beaten him. And the best part was, there was no taking on Flowey!!

Even though Flowey still didn't really seem to like them, and there was the occasional argument between Sans and him, Flowey had seemed to become accustomed to life with Frisk, and was maybe even learning to tolerate her a little.

Not Sans though. Those two still weren't getting on at all. At least, not until recently.

Frisk thought at some point they were going to try and have a full on battle when Sans had formed a gaster blaster on him at one point. It was lucky Frisk was able to stand in the middle of it all to stop it. So that was a relief.

Anyway, they were now once again trying to enjoy life on the surface. Frisk was starting to feel much more safe in this timeline, than she had in past timelines. Which was great.

Though, Frisk was still trying to get used to the fact that she and Sans were sorta together. Which was awesome!! But they hadn't really told anyone about it yet, because they didn't want anyone making a big deal. Especially Toriel..

"she might suspect something is up but... i don't really want her to know yet, if that's cool with you. i know i'll only get the 'if you hurt my daughter' talk and i'll feel like that'll put a lot of pressure on my part." Sans had told her. Frisk chuckled.

"Alright, I understand. Yeah, I can see Toriel being a bit weird about it to be honest. Seeing as she's my mother and all... But she's only trying to look out for me." Frisk laughed.

"i know... tori is great. i just don't wanna be scowled about it... at least, not yet."

"Haha, okay."

So, for now, Frisk's and Sans' relationship was kiiiinda a secret. But it's not like they really did anything mushy together. After all, Sans was a skeleton, so.... You kinda get the jist of things.

But Frisk loved all the cuddles and the staying up late and talking. Frisk even gave him the occasional kiss, even if Sans had no lips. She just loved the look he got on his face. He would look so nervous, it made her laugh.

As they were now just moving up to the surface, Sans and Frisk were laying around the house, after packing everything. They had managed to pack pretty quickly, with Sans' special power. So they had a lot of time to kill until Papyrus and the others were ready to come up with them. Sans was lying on the living room rug, with boxes around him. He was drinking ketchup in thought and turned his head over to see Frisk looking at a magazine. She flipped a page.

Propping himself up onto his elbow, he rested the side of his head in his hand as he stared at her. He continued to drink his ketchup as he continued to glance towards her.

"What is it?" Frisk casually wondered, not even looking up from her magazine. Sans jumped. He didn't know that she would notice him staring at her.

"n-nothing" He sheepishly chuckled. "i was just thinkin' how nice it is gonna be to be able to go up to the surface with you and all the others. i mean, if truth be told, i had lost faith in goin' up there a long time ago... but thanks to you..." He grinned."it's finally happening."

Frisk grinned back, as she slightly blushed. Placing her magazine down on the rug, she put her hand on top of Sans' and squeezed it tight.

"Yeah, I'm very glad to have helped you... And I'm super looking forward to getting to be on the surface with you guys. It'll be fun." She said. Leaning over, she placed a kiss on his forehead.

Out of nowhere, Sans suddenly tackled her into a hug and she squealed in surprise.

"gotcha!" Sans cheered, as he started to tickle Frisk like crazy. She continued to squeal and laugh as Sans wouldn't let her go.

"Stop it!" She laughed, with tears coming to her eyes. "Stooooop!" She continued. Flowey rolled his eyes from the window sill.

"Urgh. You two make me sick." He pouted in annoyance. "You know, just because you guys forgot I was here, and I accidentally saw you two together, doesn't mean I like to look at it." Flowey spat. Sans grinned as he loosened his grip on Frisk and let her get up. She brushed down her shirt to make sure it wasn't covered in anything from the rug. She squinted, seeing a piece of fluff on the hem of her shirt and picked it off. She smiled back at Flowey.

"Well, I just want to say thanks to you, Flowey, for not saying anything to anyone. After all, we've just wanted to keep it a secret for now. God knows how everyone will react about it. I could imagine Papyrus being utterly excited for you." She chuckled, looking towards Sans. Sans laughed, as he scratched the back of his skull.

"i guess i could see that..." Sans murmured, as he started to drink his ketchup again. Flowey sighed.

"Well, whatever. But remember, smiley trashbag, if you snap at me at all, the deal of me keeping it a secret is off and I'll tell everyone. you. know." He said.

"yeah, i know that." Sans casually replied.

"Well, then good." Flowey said.

Just as all three of them finished conversing, Papyrus burst through the front door.

"I HOPE YOU THREE HAVE FINISHED PA-- WOWIE! YOU GUYS HAVE! I HAVE TO SAY, I AM SURPRISED, SANS. NORMALLY IT TAKES YOU ALL DAY TO GET THINGS PACKED I-- WAIT, DID YOU GET FRISK TO DO ALL THE WORK!? SANS! YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER!"

Frisk giggled. "Don't worry, Papyrus. He didn't, honest. He actually did most of the work, to be completely and deadly truthful."

Papyrus stared at her with a mix of shock and disbelief. "HE DID? REALLY? WOWIE! I HAVE TO SAY, I'M VERY PLEASED WITH YOU SANS! EVERYTHING I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TEACH YOU FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS MUST FINALLY BE PAYING OFF, NYEH HEH HEH HEH!"

"you got that right bro." Sans grinned, going along with it. Papyrus walked over to his brother and gave him a hug. Sans looked a little taken by surprise. But he happily hugged him back. Frisk smiled at the two. She was so pleased to have Papyrus back after what happened several months ago, when the last timeline was going on.

Sans still had absolutely NO idea that he had even laid hands on his own brother. Which was good. Frisk still couldn't have him knowing. Otherwise she felt the happiness that he had now, during this moment in time, would be gone. Forever. Not even Frisk could bring him enough happiness that it would stop him from going mad if he lost Papyrus. Frisk knew that. And she understood it, so it didn't really upset her in the slightest.

Papyrus loosened his grip on Sans and stood upright to look towards Frisk and Flowey.

"EVERYONE IS PRETTY MUCH READY. TORIEL AND ASGORE ARE LAST TO GET READY. THEY JUST HAVE A FEW FINAL THINGS TO PACK... APPARENTLY..." He muttered the last word 'apparently' as if it wasn't a surprise to him. It wasn't really a surprise to Sans or Frisk that they were the last two to get ready.

Toriel and Asgore STILL had their problems. Even in this timeline. Which was an utter nightmare. Toriel still chose to look at him as if he was a piece of dirt she had scraped off the bottom of her shoe. And him? Well, he still tried so hard to try and get her forgiveness once again. But it seemed as everyone was packing, as told by Papyrus, she wasn't having any of it.

"she'll get over it eventually. she can't stay mad forever." Sans chuckled. Frisk scrunched her face up in doubt. Remembering the last timeline, Toriel could be really cold towards Asgore. No matter how hard he tried, she always had some horrible remark to spit at him and he'd stumble in defeat. Frisk wished her goat mum could be more forgiving... After all, Asgore said he was sorry... Frisk understood that he just wanted to do what he thought was right for his people. It's not like humans were so great and perfect either, as they were also on the other end of the stick, attacking and killing monsters if they came into "THEIR" territory. So humans weren't really any different.

However, with monsters now coming up to the surface, humans were just going to have to be more accepting and understanding. It's not like they really had a choice.

"Hey, I have an idea." Frisk rose her eyebrows, as she crossed her arms. The three others turned to face her as she spoke. "Why don't we make up a plan to try and get Asgore and Toriel back together?" She suggested. Sans chuckled.

"you mean, like a date?"

"I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S SUCH A GREAT IDEA, HUMAN. THE QUEEN AND ASGORE HAVEN'T GOT ON IN YEARS, AFTER SHE DECIDED TO LEAVE THE THRONE AND HIM ON HIS OWN. I DON'T KNOW WHAT GOOD IT'LL REALLY DO..."

"This has to be the dumbest idea I've ever heard." Flowey spat. Sans wiped ketchup away from his mouth and shoved his hands in his pockets. Slowly, he nodded, with a happy look plastered across his face.

"on normal circumstances, it would be almost impossible. however, thankfully for you guys, you have the punniest guy around. not only that, but i'm a master of romance, believe it or not." He winked at Frisk as she giggled. Papyrus gave him a look of doubt.

"REALLY? YOU? A MASTER OF ROMANCE? NYEH HEH HEH! DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH, SANS! I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME YOU WENT ON A DATE WITH ANYONE. IN FACT, YOU'VE NEVER EVEN BEEN ON A DATE BEFORE! I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, HAVE IN FACT DATED THE HUMAN HERE. I HAD MY TRUSTY DATE BOOK HERE TO HELP!" He said, somehow pulling out a book that Frisk remembered so well. When she and Papyrus first met, he ended up taking her out on a... Well, date. Well, she wouldn't really call it a date herself. But that's what he called it. And she actually found it pretty sweet of him to do.

"heheheheh. trust me bro. i may not seem like it, but, believe you me, i have some knowledge that you would be jealous of." Sans teased. Papyrus still continued to stare at his brother, unconvinced. He obviously wasn't shifting his opinion that he was the best at romance, rather than his older brother Sans. Papyrus probably felt his brother was all talk.

"ALRIGHT, IF YOU SAY SO. BUT I STILL DON'T BELIEVE YOU. HOWEVER, IF WE'RE REALLY GOING TO DO THIS, YOU CAN BE THE ONE TO HELP US SET THEM UP. WHAT DO YOU THINK, HUMAN?"

Frisk grinned and nodded. She gave him the thumbs up. "I think Sans is right. He'd be great! Er... Not that you wouldn't, Papyrus!"

"THANK YOU, SMALL HUMAN." Papyrus thanked her, clearly touched by her compliment. Flowey frowned in annoyance.

"Uh... Hello!! What the hell am I supposed to do?!" He complained. They all turned to look towards him.

"I thought you didn't want to be a part of it."

"I didn't... But I just hate being left out." He admitted. Frisk rose her eyebrows. Her face relaxed and she gave him a sympathetic look.

"But you're a flower, Flowey... I don't know what you could..... You could er... Be decoration?" She tried. Flowey sighed.

"Sure, whatever." He replied. Frisk looked back towards Sans and Papyrus.

"So... Are we really gonna do this? Are we even gonna try?"

Sans gave her a nod and ruffled her hair with his hand. "with your lead, i think we'll do it kiddo." He grinned.
