Getting Nowhere

Jackie stared down at Anti who wasn't even able to sit up yet.

"Uh . . . . . ."

Anti growled and used his arms to try and lift himself, shaking, "I . . ..  won't ask . . .twice"

Jackie swallowed but decided to roll with his attitude, "If it wasn't for me, dick, those creeps would've put you six feet under"

"So what!?" Anti finally glitched and was on his feet, leaning on the wall of the building next to him, "What's it to you? . . . . . . The fuck you wearing?"

He was sort of offended, "None of your business for one. Two . . .  I just so happened to be in the neighborhood. You're welcome" he faked as if he were walking away from the scene.

"Hey!" Anti shouted behind him, "Where the hell you think you're going!?"

Jackie smirked, knowing he was reeling him in. He turned to face him, "You can walk now, right? I'm clean of you far as I'm concerned, bitch

Jackie turned to 'walk away' only to see Anti had glitched in front of him. He was beaten and bloody and it seemed as if the alcohol was more or less leaving his system with his glitching, frying it off.

But even if he had bruises forming and blood on his face, he still looked menacing. Jackie was almost scared. Almost.

Scared he might figure out who he was.

Anti's green eyes gleamed at him like a wolf but after a few moments, he lifted his head up as if sizing him up, suddenly grinning.

"What's with the get-up?"

"What's with the glitching?"

Anti licked his teeth and ran a hand through his hair, smearing blood in it, "You don't seem scared of it. You know who I am, punk?"

"Yeah, sure I'M the punk. You're Antisepticeye. Why would I be scared of some green rat who chases around that pretty boy in the jumpsuit?"

Anti's eye twitched.

Jackie didn't particularly like to refer to himself that way but it seemed to have gotten a reaction out of him.

"The fuck do you know?"

"I KNOW that some weird fucking taser just took you out on your ass . . .  and that shouldn't be all that easy to do to you, right?"

Anti actually seemed worried for a moment as if he hadn't really thought about what was just used on him. He shrugged, "Doesn't matter. I'll find out what that piece of shit was and destroy it myself"

But Jackie already knew. It was another one of Marvin's 'weapons' but Jackie hadn't realized that he had been selling things like that. He didn't blame him for creating something that could stop Anti but to put it into civilians hands to do with how they please!?

"Sure you will" Jackie nodded to him, "I'm gonna take off now. Stay out of trouble, glitch"

Anti smirked, "Watch yourself, asshole. Might find yourself in a hole when you wake up tomorrow" he suddenly frowned, "You're lucky I'm still high as fuck else I'd knock you down where you stand"

"That's no way to thank someone!"

Anti stared at him for a few moments.

Jackie was worried he'd attack him anyway. After all, he was right. He WAS high. What did he care right now if he was saved by him or not?

But the glitch suddenly cracked a smile, "I like you. . . . . Now fuck off" he promptly turned to walk away.

Jackie still had some attitude in him though, "I was going that way. You glitched in front of me"

Anti stopped and the 'hero' ego had to contain him self from not laughing as the glitch quickly turned to speed past him, "Fuck off" he muttered in a light growl.

And with that. . . . he was gone.

Jackie wasn't done, though, no matter how much he wanted to be.

'He's even more scary to civilians' he thought to himself, 'Feels so different from when he's talking to the real me' Jackie chuckled to himself.

He scaled the buildings again and watched from the roof tops as Anti stumbled home for a different reason now.

'Marvin's really been working' he thought about the taser again, 'That had real fucking power in it. That could kill any other normal person.'

He was pissed off at Marvin more than ever but as he had been thinking before, his weapons could also help him. Once he found that glove, Marvin would be his next big problem.

Finally after nearly a half hour, Jackie noticed Anti had stopped, slinking into an alley. He tried following him only to notice . . . .

He had vanished.

'Great' Jackie grumbled to himself, 'He glitched. Now what?'

He was back to square one.

Anti glitched into his apartment, meanwhile and leaned on his door.

'What a fucked up night'

He only wished the effects of the drugs had lasted longer for him.

After getting tased and kicked in the face, he was shocked sober.

'And then that weird guy in the costume shows up' he scoffed, 'Another hero wannabe maybe? A Jackieboyman fanatic?' Anti swallowed and narrowed his eyes, limping to the kitchen for a glass of water, 'No, no. If he was a fan of the hero, he would have tried taken me into the police.'

Thinking back to the garb he wore, he had to admit, it couldn't been any heroic look.

'He saved my ass though, I'd hate to admit. Perhaps a neutral vigilante? If that's even a thing?'

He shook his head and started to take off his clothes to get in the shower. He stopped in front of the mirror, though, to see the burn that the taser gave him, 'Another scar, huh?'

Anti glared at it with malice, 'I'll have to find out what the hell that thing was. Those pricks still have it. Didn't see that amateur take it with him. . . .'

Taking a deep breathe, he rolled his eyes and hopped into the shower to rinse off the blood and sweat from his body.

'Maybe I'll have to watch HIM, too'

It was finally the weekend and Chase had the day off to spend time with his kids!

He almost forgot what it was like just being around them not having to worry about his phone ringing, work calling him in.

They were at the park and Chase was playing catch with Sammy and Kallie.

"Good one!" he shouted at Kallie. Even though she nearly fell backwards, she still caught it, "Now throw it to me!"

"No!" Sammy argued, "To me! Come on, Kallie!"

The little girl giggled and flung it towards her brother.

Chase mocked disappointment, "Aw, Kal! I thought I was your favorite!"

She laughed at him, "I love you, daddy!" as if those words would make it all better.

It did.

He grinned at her, "I love you, too, sweety. Sammy! Your turn!"

"Yeah! Get ready, Dad! I'm gonna wind it up!" the boy stuck his tongue out, putting his cap backwards just like his father.

Chase and Kallie watched as Sammy spun around in a circle, thinking that that would make the ball go farther. But when he finally did manage to throw it, it accidentally flung behind him!

"Aw, man!" Sammy watched as the ball fell into the bushes behind him.

"I'll go get it, Sam" Chase started to walk towards him but Sammy was indignant and stubborn, wanting desperately to impress.

"No, no! I'll get it, dad! I got it!" he didn't want to disappoint him.

The father sighed, watching as his son ran towards the bushes for the ball.

Kallie bounced on her feet apprehensively, sucking on her thumb. Chase managed to catch her doing it, too.

"Kallie, what have I told you about doing that? I saw that!"

His daughter giggled and stopped immediately, "No you didn't!"

"Yes I did, young lady!" he snapped back with a smile.

Kallie sensed the playfulness and laughed, shaking her head, "No, you didn't!"

Chase ran over and quickly grabbed her, scooping her up in his arms, "Rah! You adorable little brat! You scoundrel!"

Kallie laughed as her father spun them around, holding her up in the air.

"Uh. . . dad?" Chase stopped at the sound of his son's voice.

He turned and looked around to see Sammy with a stranger and he immediately hugged Kallie to him in his arms, "Sammy, get away from that man! Come here, now!"

Sammy just looked confused though, "But dad, isn't he your brother?"

"Yeah is that any way to treat family, Brody?"

Chase stilled, still ushering for Sammy to come to him, "Anti?"

The glitch smiled. He sported a large bruise over his right eye, some scrapes and he was limping. But he still grinned like the devil, "Hey there!"

Sammy finally came over to Chase and the father forced him behind him, "What are you doing here, Anti? Get the hell away else I'll-"

"You'll what?" he smirked, "Call Jackie? . . . Honestly I'd love for you to."

Chase narrowed his eyes at him but before he could ask anything, Kallie spoke up, "Daddy, why are you being so mean to uncle Anti?"

"He. . .. " Chase wished he could tell them but he didn't want to break their hearts. They seemed to like the man, after all, "Uncle Anti and I just have some disagreements is all. He's not a good influence on you kids."

"Oh well that's a little harsh" Anti stepped forward and Chase stepped back, putting his other hand behind him where his gun was. Anti caught that, though, "Right here, Chasey-boy? In front of so many people? In front of your kids? Thought you'd have more manners than that"

Chase swallowed, "What do you want?"

"Where's Jackie?"

"How the hell should I know?"

Anti rolled his eyes and growled, "You all stay in touch, right? I'd just assume you'd know. You were about to call him, after all, weren't you?"

"Daddy?" Sammy tugged on his shirt, "What's going on? You're acting like Uncle Anti is a bad man or something. Isn't he the good guy like Uncle Jackie? I thought they worked together and stuff?"

"Uncle Anti's the best!" Kallie laughed and smiled, holding her hands out to try and reach for the man but Chase kept the distance.

"Stop it, Kallie. I'll explain later, kids"

Anti took a few quick steps forward and reached for Kallie.

Chase didn't want to make a scene but he didn't want  Anti to just take his kid!

But. . . . .. suddenly Anti had her in his arms, bouncing her with a light grin.

"OR daddy could explain now. What's the rush, after all? Hm?" Anti smiled as Kallie played with his hair.

Chase was stock still. He could sense the malice towards him but . . . . it really did seem as if he wouldn't hurt the kids. Anti was just playing with him. Hurting him this way without putting the kids in any real danger.

"Dad?" Sammy asked again, "Can Uncle Anti play with us? I'm sure if you just give him a chance, he's a nice guy!"

Kallie hugged Anti around his neck. The glitch winced as she pressed against his bruise but didn't shove her off, "Yes, let the bad man play with you, hm?" he mocked with a grin.

Chase sighed. If they were in a more remote location with less people, he'd get him and his kids out of there. But he didn't want to make a scene for one and two. .. . ..  Anti didn't seem threatening towards the kids.

In fact. . . .if Chase really thought about it, he could have hurt them plenty of other times when he wasn't around. But he didn't.

Could he really trust Anti around them?

Finally, he gave in, "Fine. Let's play some catch"

"Where's the ball, though?" Sammy asked, "I couldn't find it in the bushes"

Anti made his hand glitch and the ball appeared in it, "Looking for this, brat?"

"That's so cool!"

"Yay!" Kallie cheered, kissing her uncle on the cheek.

Anti wanted to gag from her sweetness but refrained. He was doing all of this for a reason, after all.

After a few throws and catches for probably around fifteen minutes, the kids got tired of it and ran off to play on the swing sets with other kids, leaving the egos alone at a picnic table.

"Alright. You got your family bonding time. Now what the fook do you want, asshole?"

"Oooo, so hostile."

"Who fucked up your face? Was it Jackie?" he grinned.

Anti scoffed, "He'd wish. I'm actually looking for him. Thought you'd know something with you all being so damn close"

"I know it's surprising but we don't actually communicate everyday." Chase took off his hate, playing with the nob of it on the top, "Why do you ask?"

Anti shrugged, squinting at the bright light of the sun, "Haven't seen him in a few weeks. Thought he died or something"

Chase narrowed his eyes at him, "What makes you think that?"

"I've caused quite a few more crimes lately that usually mister Robin Hood would be right there in a blink of an eye to stop. I robbed an ATM. Never showed. I tried robbing an art museum. Never showed."

"Awe, you upset because he's ignoring you? Poor thing" Chase mocked him, ignoring the glare he got, "Look, I don't know what Jackie's problem is but leave me the fuck out of it, you got it? I don't have anything to do with your guys' good guy-bad guy shite."

"Oh so when I'm targeting you, though, then you'll be apart of it?"

Chase raised a brow at him, "You can target me all you want. But at least I know now, you won't hurt my kids. The way they looked at you meant something and you know it. You getting soft, glitch?"

"Fuck off."

"Who beat your ass? I'm dying to know so I can thank them"

Anti promptly stood up, "I'm done here. It's obvious you have no information for me"

"Who you going to go to next? Henrik? Because I doubt he knows anything either. And we all know you can't find Marvin"

The glitch crossed his arms and huffed, "You're lucky your kids are here else I'd kill you for being so fooking smart with me."

"So you DO care?" he smiled with a goofy tooth-filled grin.

"I'm leaving."

"See you later, BRO!"

As soon as Anti glitched away, though, Chase frowned and took out his phone.

If what Anti said was true then something really was wrong.

'Why didn't Jackie stop that shit? Was he more hurt than we all thought?'

He texted Henrik to see if he knew anything, watching in a daze as his kids laughed and played on the playground.

'Maybe I should visit Jackie myself and see what's up? It's weird enough that Anti came out of nowhere to ask me. He's never done that before.'

Chase took a deep breathe, just trying to figure out what it all meant.

'Something bigger is going on than I know and I'm going to find out what.'
