The minutes felt like hours. My mind was drowning in doubt. I was trying not to cry but a couple tears rolled down my face.

*Knock! Knock! Knock!*

"Wait. That's my door their knocking!" I thought. I sped walked to the door. I was hesitant but I eventually opened it.

The lady who brought us in to talk with him had a bright smile on her face.

"Congratulations! You've been adopted!" She cheerfully said.

My heart bursts into flames....... and tears. I hugged her and she hugged back.

"Oh thank-you-thank-you-thank-you-thank-you!" I was so excited.

"Hehe! Don't thank me. Thank him." She pointed to him down the hallway. I was like a kid on Christmas Day. I ran towards him and gave him a big hug, yelling "DADDY!"

Ryan's POV:

It really warmed my heart to see a child, who has been hurt for so long, to finally be accepted. What warmed my heart even more is when she called out 'daddy.'

I don't know about you but this was the best time of my life.

"Alrighty then, sweetheart. I want you to pack your stuff so we're ready to leave."

She gave me a nod of approval and ran to her room.

I just couldn't help but smile.

Shyla's POV:

Oml! I never thought this day would come! Especially my hero who is taking me under his wing!

•Front flip to the future•

I have everything I need in my suitcase! Now it's time for me to........ oh no.

The group of the boys and the girls were blocking the way to the exit.

"Where do you think you're going SHYREN?! Aren't you even going to say goodbye?" One of the guys said in a 'nice' sarcastic tone.

I held my luggage close to me. Making sure I kept my distance.

"Oh come on Shyren! All we want to say is goodbye!" One the girls said but in a more bitter tone.

I took one step back. This not what I wanted nor is this what I needed. I was looking at all of them in fear.

One of the girls made an evil grin at one of the boys and said, "wanna give her goodbye gift?" I didn't like what was going to happen because I knew what they were going to do.

They were slowly getting closer to me.

Ryan's POV:

I was waiting in the car, wondering where she was. So I went out of the car, and headed into the building and saw the kids gaining up on her.

I speed walked past the children and stood in front of my daughter.

"I don't think anyone of you want to get in trouble, so I suggest you all move along." I said defensively.

They listened but one kid said, "I'll see you around Shyren!" Like he's ever going to touch my daughter.

I turned around and kneeled to her. She tried to fight her tears, but to no prevail she couldn't.

"Come on now. I'm taking you home." I put her on my shoulders and I was walking. I could hear her sniffling, wanting to cry but can't.

•Lil' time jump•

We're in the car now and she's sitting in the front. Her head is hanging, she was crying a little.

"Here. Come sit on my lap." I said, looking at her. She looked up at me with her slightly florid face and gave me a look of 'your really wanting me to do this.'

"Come on now." She eventually came over to me. Then I lowly told her, "you don't have to hide your tears, just let them out." I said while resting my chin on her head.

The tears were forming and she was balling. I held her as she let them out and I was rocking back and forth lightly.

This poor girl is in so much pain...... I'm glad I'm taking her home.

After balling her eyes out, she went to sleep. I didn't want to wake her up but I wanted to take her home.

"Hey. Shyla?" I said trying to whisper.

She woke up.

"I'm going to drive home. Okay?" She nodded happily but was really tired.

I turned on the car and drove home.
