Two opposing factions which necessitate each other's existence. Iuderis is an order of paladins, cells of which exist all over the continent. They serve the god of law Iudex by keeping and enforcing the laws of their code. Because small bands of criminals would easily be destroyed by the order most of the ones in Derion banded together to form the Serpent Company. These groups' goal is but one thing, the other's annihilation.

Iuderis

Iuderis is an organization which enforces the laws of their order. They do so by sending out a Judge, who will wander towards the appointed criminal, who shall be judged and given appropriate punishment ranging from simply apologizing to being executed. However they do not judge actions in a vacuum, because of this a child which steals bread to feed it's siblings will not be punished while a noble that raises a hand against their servant as a punishment for a wrongdoing will be visited by a Judge. Due to this they're not exactly popular but are tolerated because they do more good in most people's opinions. That said however the one exception to this is being a member of the Serpents, those are to be executed on sight. Iuderis as an order of paladins has been granted the Judge's eye. This blessing allows them to track down criminals and see nothing but the truth for a certain amount of time each day. The leader of this order is the Lord of Law. The Lord of Law is usually an experienced Judge who has served the order for many years and has proven themselves worthy in front of the High Cleric. The High Cleric is the religious leader and best doctor of the order they can use a miracle once a year to commune with Iudex itself in times of dire need. Their headquarters is a castle on the western border of Derios

Serpent Company

The Serpent Company is a criminal organization based in the Duchy of Lendred. Their Count is often a client of theirs and offers them pay and protection in exchange for their services and loyalty. They are reliant on this protection as for now they are still too weak to confront Iuderis head on. Iuderis however can't attack them because the professional troops of the Duchy would aid in the defense, meaning they are somewhat at a stalemate. The Serpents are criminals through and through and range from petty thieves to highly skilled assassins and mercenaries. While they already control basically everything of Derion's underground dealings they're trying to gain even more wealth and power during these chaotic times.
