*Shadow's POV*
"Will you finally admit you want to be with him?" Rouge sat down on the edge of my desk. We were currently in my office, and I had all the lights off except for the lamp she was sitting next to.
"Shut up." I rolled my eyes and started going over the files I had on my desk. I wasn't in the mood to talk to her, especially if it was about Sonic. "I don't want to talk about this anymore."
Rouge shrugged and looked at a chaos emerald she was holding. She kept stealing mine, and I wasn't even in any mood to fight back for it, knowing how obsessed she was with gems. "Fine, I'll just talk to myself then." She grinned. I just ignored her. "I'll just talk about the talk I had with Sonic and his siblings. How I found out that he is marrying Princess Sally just to keep her safe from Eggman, who, if caught, will prevent any of this from happening." My ear twitched.
I stood up and slammed my hands on the table, then picked her up and threw her out of my office, snatching the emerald away from her before she could fight back for it. She gasped as I slammed the door on her face while I growled.
I'm tired of this. I'm tired of her. I'm tired of Sonic.
But if all it took to stop him from marrying that princess was to capture Eggman, then I would do it myself.
*Narrators POV*
With his mind set, Shadow chaos controlled to Eggmans base. He shot forward in a blur, effortlessly disabling the defenses as he tore through the metallic corridors. Alarms wailed, but Shadow didn’t falter. He was focused, single-minded in his pursuit. As he reached the central chamber, the massive doors slid open to reveal Eggman standing behind a panel, surrounded by his latest machines.
"Ah! Shadow! You're just in time to witness my latest creation!" Eggman taunted, his mustache curling in rhat sinister way he always it. "With this, I am sure to finally destroy that blue pest!"
His words angered Shadow even more. It was his fault his heart was hurting again. It was his fault Shadow was debating again on whether or not to give Sonic a chance. Hearing Eggman say he'd destroy Sonic only made his protective instincts kick in.
Shadow didn’t respond. He dashed forward, Chaos Control warping the space around him as he dismantled the robots one by one. Eggman’s grin faltered, his confidence disappearing.
“Why do you persist, Shadow? You could have everything! Power, control! Why fight for them?” Eggman sneered, his eyes narrowing.
Shadow's answer came in the form of a swift kick that caused Eggman to fall. The doctor groaned as he hit the ground.
"I fight for my own reasons." Shadow snarled as he grabbed the doctor by the collar, only letting go when he was hit by one of the doctors robots.
He turned to look at the army he was about to face on his own. He will have to give everything he has to do this alone.
*Sonic's POV*
I sat on my bed, my foot bouncing as I bit my glove out of nerves. Rouge had contacted Manic, Sonia, and I that she had found Shadow unconscious outside of Eggmans lab. I wasn't allowed to leave the castle since I was supposed to do some training with my uncle, and he was strict about it.
"Calm down. I'm sure Stripes is okay." Scourge said, leaning against the door frame.
"It's been 3 days since he last reported at G.U.N. I should have known something had happened. I should have just gone to check on him. To talk to him." I couldn't help but worry. I looked out the balcony, then looked back at Scourge, an idea coming to mind.
"What are you doing, Blue?" Scourge sat up straight as I walked to him and closed the door, making sure no one else was coming. Then I looked at Scourge and took off his jacket. "Whoa. Hey. Im touched, but -"
"Shut up." I walked with it to the closet, then hid it and grabbed my suit and the mask. "You're covering for me. Change. Quick."
"Are you kidding? Your brother is going to kill me. Scratch that. Your whole family is going to kill me." Scourge shook his head as I shoved the clothes to his chest.
"Imagine if you were in my shoes, and it was Manic. I would help you." I said harshly, causing Scourge to stop talking. He sighed and gave in, then started changing.
"Go. But you owe me. And big time because they're going to figure out as soon as they see me."
"It's just so the guards know someone is here. After that, you can tell them I forced you into it. Which I did. So it works." I chuckled, then patted his back and walked to the balcony. I glanced down and jumped off when I saw no one was there.
I ran as fast as I could to Tails house where Rouge informed us she had taken Shadow.
"Sonic? What are you doing here?" Tails gasped when he saw me burst in through the door. "Oh chaos, Chuck is going to lock you up when he figures out you left."
"I dont care about that. Where's Shadow? How is he? What happened?" I quickly asked.
"Blue? Is that you?" Rouge walked out of Tails guest room. I walked to her and peeked in the room to see Shadow sitting on the bed. He was quiet and looking out the window. I could feel myself being able to breathe now.
He had bruises on his body and some scratches. I couldn't help myself, I walked to him in a rush and instantly hugged him, being careful not to hurt him. I didn't care if he pushed me away, I didn't care if he punched me, I didn't care if he yelled at me. I just needed to hug him and know he was safe.
