*Shadow's POV*
"You've been texting Blue the entire week we were out." Rouge pointed out as we finally went into our office. The commander had called us a week ago to go on a mission before I continued the one involving the royal family.

"Was I?" I said as I placed my phone on top of my desk. I usually didn't even have it with me. But Sonic had insisted I text him. While I wouldn't have normally listened, I was starting to feel more comfortable with him.

"Do you like him?" Rouge went straight to the point. I snapped my head to look at her, nearly missing the chair as I sat down.

"What?" I cleared my throat, ignoring what had happened. "No." I said, but maybe it was a lie.

How the hell was I supposed to know that?

Was I comfortable around him? Yes.

Did I miss having him around? Also, yes.

Maybe he was breaking me more than I thought.

I mean, we had been at this weird relationship thing for about a month already. We were also spending a lot of time together because we were still trying to figure out who Maurice was, which turned out to be more difficult than I thought. The day I left, Sonic had left a single blue colored lantana flower at my door since he wasn't there to see me leave.

"Really? Then how come you put on the bracelet he gave you when we got back here?" Rouge sat at the edge of my desk.

I looked down at my wrist, looking at the blue beaded bracelet with an 'S' in the middle. "He told me to wear it." I shrugged. "Didn't you say I have to listen to him?"

"As in, pay attention to him. Not do everything he says." Rouge crossed her arms as she remained with a bright smile. "So when are you going to tell him you like him?" 

"I have no idea what you're talking about." My eyes narrowed as I looked at her.

"Oh, come on, don't play dumb with me. I've seen the way you look at him now. Plus, you're always chasing after him, getting involved in his business. It's adorable, really. I didn't know this was where this situationship would bring you. Make you realize you do, in fact, like the hedgehog you so desperately avoided for years."

My fist clenched. "I chase him because he's reckless. Someone needs to keep in check. And you told me I need to be around him."

"Uh-huh. I said to be around him, not to follow him halfway across the world just to stop him from getting into trouble." My jaw tightened.

"I don't have time for your games, Rouge." She chuckled, getting down from my desk and walking closer to me, giving me a light tap on the arm.

"Oh relax Shadow, it's not a crime to care about someone. Especially your boyfriend."

"It's a fake relationship." Rouges smirk widened as she turned to walk out of the office.

"Is it?" I glared at her, her words echoing in my mind as I watched her leave. Her words were irritating me more than I wanted to admit.

Before I could even settle my mind down, I received a call. It was Sonic.

"Hey Shadz. Rouge texted me that you were coming back today!" Sonics cheerful voice buzzed through the line. "Sorry I didn't answer your texts today. I've been kind of busy."

I chaos controlled back home after I got everything in order at my office. "Busy with what?" I pinched the bridge of my nose already imagining how I was going to have to get him out of trouble yet again.

"Oh, you know," Sonic said casually. "Just hanging out with Amy." Her name echoed in my mind, irritating me even more. "We went shopping, and now we are grabbing something to eat." My grip tightened on my phone, a strange mix of irritation and... was it jealousy? Flaring up.

It was not jealousy. How could I be jealous? Sonic could go out with whoever he wanted. Why should I care?

"You've been with Rose the whole day?" I gritted my teeth yet tried to sound calm.

What was wrong with me?

"Yeah," Sonic replied, oblivious. "She kind of insisted, you know how she is."

"I see." I rolled my eyes. There was a long pause before he answered back, getting my nerves all worked up. I hate this. I. Hate. This.

"Wait. Are you upset or something?" Sonic broke the silence.

'Yes, Hedgehog, and I dont know why.' I wanted to so desperately snap.

I scoffed, but it sounded sharper than I intended. "Why would I? I couldn't care less what you do."

"Uh-huh. I mean, I was going to go over, but if you're mad -"

"I'm not mad!" I snapped without realizing. Damn it.

"Shadow, we were doing so good for a month without you snapping at me." Sonic sighed on the other end of the line. "You're jealous, aren't you?" Sonic chuckled, I could practically see his dork smile from wherever he was at.

The words hit me like a punch to the gut. I hate this.

"I don't get jealous, Faker." I refused to admit it. Saying it out loud was more so I could convince myself to just calm down and drop it.

"Could've fooled me." He teased. "You seem pretty worked up that I'm out with Amy. She's just a friend, Shadow." My ear twitched at that.

"I couldn't care less who you waste your time with."

"Don't be like that. You know you're the one I really want to be with." His confession made my heart skip a bit, and my mixed emotions calm down ever so slightly. He would always remind me he was the one with feelings in this weird relationship we had. But was that even true now?

"Then why aren't you here?" I spat out before I could think what I was saying. I suddenly felt so vulnerable. 

Sonic didn't answer me, but I did hear him talking to Rose in the background. Soon, he finally spoke back into the phone. "I'll be at your house in a bit. I am just going to finish eating. I promise I'll go straight over once I am done."

"Fine." I rolled my eyes as my foot bounced since I was now sitting on the couch.

"You're cute when you're jealous, you know that?" His words disarmed me more than it should.

"Shut up."

"I'll be on my way as soon as I can, Shadz." With that said, I hung up, but I stared at the phone in my hand.

The jealousy I didn't want to admit was there had faded.

I like him.
