Undercover Princess Mia : Chapter Twenty Four
"Oh, I'm so excited! Anne did you bring my red dress along and not to mention the black stilettos! We're going to have so much fun in the palace!" Marya gushed while zipping her bag.
"I guess I placed everything in. Besides, that red dress isn't yours, it's mine! Mom gifted it to me, not you," Anne said through gritted teeth and tried to snatch the bag from Marya.
"Don't you dare say that Anne! Remember that day when I shared my hat with you, since you didn't have one," Marya argued and my ears were bleeding by their bickering.
"Right. That green hat which was already spoiled by your ugly flower designs on it. It didn't even fit!" Anne reasoned out and I rubbed my temples, trying to calm myself.
"Nothing can fit that abnormally large head of yours!" Marya snarled and before the twins could start a cat fight right in the middle of the airport, I quickly stepped in between them. They glared at each other and I rolled my eyes.
"Well, alright then! Stop fighting for nothing! I'll get you guys enough dresses and hats in England, let's just go ahead!" I burst out and they obediently nodded.
Marya nudged Anne and she asked softly, "Ginger, isn't coming with us?"
"No, she isn't. I messed up and now she wouldn't even want to look at me," I muttered dejectedly.
"Who told?"
I looked up at the familiar voice and saw the twins grinning widely. I whirled around and was immediately pulled into a tight hug.
"Yo-you are suffo-stop strangling me!" I choked out the words. The red -head released me and all of us burst into fits of laughter. The laughter slowly died down and left us in a comfortable silence.
"Ginger, you came . . . " I murmured as I held her at an arm's length and admired her petite figure.
She looked gorgeous in her lavender coloured tank top and black skinny jeans with ankle boots. Her bouncy, red curls was let loose as it wildly reached till her breasts. On the other hand, I still wore the black wig, feigned glasses and my dull blouse with a plain skirt. This was going to be the last time that I would ever wear the ugly disguise since once I would reached England, I would throw this wig and glasses forever.
"I just came here to tell you that I'm sorry for acting so immature the other day. I didn't expect you to be a princess and all, it was too cliché to believe," she explained and I laughed lightly.
"You shouldn't be the one apologising, I'm sorry. I messed up everything, I'm a big, fat liar."
"I understand why you lied, it's to protect yourself and maybe all of us so I forgive you Amelia," she said softly and then took a glimpse of the exit. "Now I think I should probably go."
"You aren't coming with us?" I asked sounding hurt, but she grinned widely, flashing her neon braces.
"Actually, I can't come with you guys because . . . " She turned around and we saw Chad and Noah approaching us. They stopped behind her and hugged each other passively. I locked gazes with Noah, but he rolled his eyes. This gesture of his pricked my heart, but I didn't blame him. I deserved this.
"Why aren't you not coming?" the twins cried in unison, but Ginger giggled. Chad pulled her to his chest and possessively wrapped his arms around her. All of us stared at them in awe and fascination.
"I can't come because this man right here--- " She poked Chad's chest and he chuckled. "---and I are going to move in together!"
"What? REALLY?" the twins burst in unison and I suppressed my delight.
"That's so good to know! I thought your parents would never allow you," I said and Ginger beamed.
"Chad convinced them somehow, besides we are going to the same college. We need to find a good apartment, arrange everything and we're planning to do this summer," she said with great enthusiasm and we all pulled her into a tight hug.
Every time Ginger and Chad used to bicker about little things, she ran to us for solace. Her mascara would be running down her cheeks and her eyes would be red and puffy. Her curly, red hair would resemble a bird's nest on her head and her ugly cries would break our hearts. The twins and I dutifully used to take her to Baskin Robins and had ice cream to calm her and restore her feistiness.
We all pulled away while congratulating Ginger and Chad and bade them farewell. Suddenly, I heard another familiar voice squealing excitedly. I staggered back in alarm when soft baby hands wrapped around my knees. I looked down and a small smile played on my lips. I bent down and ruffled Kyle's hair lovingly.
"Amelia, I don't want to leave you," Kyle said quietly.
"Aw, don't worry, Kyle baby. I'll come back soon," I promised while smiling ruefully at him.
"Don't tell lies to a little kid," Noah said coldly and my eyes widened.
"Amelia, never tells lies! She is nice, she won't lie to me!" Kyle protested childishly and I lifted him up to start giving him sloppy kisses on his cheeks.
"Ew Amelia! Yikes!" He scrunched his nose in disgust and jumped out of my grip, wiping his cheeks. Before I could kiss him again, he ran and tugged at Carla's shirt.
I didn't realize Carla was standing right there the entire time. I smiled at her and she mirrored my expression.
"Ma'am, we should leave," the bodyguard said and I nodded. Kyle looked sadly and longingly at us which broke my heart. I waved at him enthusiastically, but he just stood there watching me and Noah.
We both turned to leave and after walking a few steps, Kyle ran after us. Noah and I whirled around and were surprised to find our legs squeezing to each others.
Kyle hugged both of our legs together, which resulted us to both stand there awkwardly. Both of our lower bodies was getting smashed together and my cheeks turned scarlet. I could notice Noah's ears turning a light shade of pink.
Within seconds, Kyle released us and I sighed. I couldn't believe that the little kid, barely five had so much power and energy to hug us so tightly. I looked down and saw Kyle crying as he wiped his tears with Noah's t-shirt.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't cry," I said in a barely audible voice. "Come on Kyle, we'll be back before you know it."
"Don't leave Noah, Amelia. He doesn't know about England. He'll get lost, don't leave him."
I laughed lightly, trying to cover my tears which appeared because of overwhelming emotions. He was barely five years old and still he talked like a mature kid. It was so surprising and I smoothened his hair as he sniffed.
"I won't leave him," I whispered.
"Promise?"
"Promise," I promised the second time and Kyle forced Noah and me to hold our hands. For a moment, our gazes were locked with each other. Then we quietly walked towards my private jet.
