Chapter 1

The war began:

War, first day:

"Protect the princess!" the king ordered.

"Yes Majesty, at your orders." The guards replied correctly.

They took me by the arm and took me quickly to the lower part of the castle, there was security everywhere.

"What's going on?" I asked confused, I didn't understand why suddenly everyone was nervous.

"My princess, I must tell you that a war started out there," the soldier said, taking me by the arm and practically forcing me to walk.

"A war." I could feel a chill running through my entire body. "You have to help them!" I spoke desperately.

"Whom? He asked confused.

"The children, the elderly and women. You should give them a safe place to be." I spoke worriedly.

"We don't have that kind of place in Wiltorn since we never imagined that a country like this, so friendly and calm, would end up in war."

"We have the castle, the attics, the cellars, the dungeons, the extra rooms, there's a lot of space here," I said annoyed when I saw that he was not even thinking of a way to save my people from this atrocity.

"I will speak with the King and then I will have him notify you the answer, now Princess Diana, stay here."

After a while of being in the basement, the servants of the castle began to decorate and furnish it for my comfort, when the preparations were finished the chief of staff gave me a letter.

"I'm sorry my girl, but the castle won't be enough for so many people, women and children, only they will be allowed to enter the castle."

~ Your father, The King.

My desire to wrinkle and flip that paper were many, but I restrained myself since that was seen disobediently, a princess must maintain her composure.

"Annabeth, prepare everything please, we will have guests" I tried to smile.

"As you order, Princess Diana."

Annabeth went to explain to the rest of the staff what to do and little by little women and children were arriving, some of them were hurt or covered with blood, then there were those who had lost their husbands or their mothers.

When I witnessed that, my desire to cry was gigantic, but I could contain myself.

With all those citizens that were arriving from time to time, we could settle and made room for others.

"Thanks, Princess, thank you very much," said a lady while holding my hands.

"Stop that woman!" Cried a boy.

A guard without hesitation rushed at her and took a knife that she had hidden, and apparently had poison. After seeing that, the guards began to inspect every person who was there and those who arrive, as there could be another infiltrated of our enemy.

Inside I had no notion of anything, of the day, of the time; of the situation ... of nothing.

War, second day:

We slept on the floor, and covered ourselves with blankets and tried not to get cold.

"Good morning princess!" An infant spoke as he stroked my hair.

"Good Morning!" I answered still lying.

"I'm hungry," he whispered flushed.

"Okay, don't worry, right now I'll tell them to prepare breakfast." I smiled again and sat up.

"Annabeth," I approached her.

"Yes, your Majesty?" She replied with a bow.

"Our guests are hungry here," I said. "Please, prepare a big breakfast," I request kindly.

"As you order "she smiled.

"Thank you," the boy replied as he pulled on my dress.

"It's nothing." I smiled, assimilating his height.

Annabeth didn't take long to bring breakfast for all of our guests. Seeing everyone trying to smile and the children eating happily, it gave me a warm feeling.

<< Fran >>

Suddenly, I remembered and noticed his absence.

I joined my site and went all over the place looking for him ...

Why isn't him here?! Despair and nerves began to make a presence.

"Guard! I exclaimed, nervous and pale.

"Princess, what happens?" he replied worriedly.

"Fran ... It's not here. Bring him!

"Princess, Mr. Fran is helpful in the war."

"No! Please, I need him here, safe and sound."

"I am sorry to tell you that it is not possible to obey that request."

What can I do? ... Fran. Fine! If they don't bring him to me, I'll bring him myself.

"Please, I need water, tell Annabeth, and I need you to revisit the place, right now," I ordered.

"We reviewed the place yesterday..."

I look him annoyed at wanting to contradict my order.

"I understand, we will do it again."

When the guards were already distracted, I ran, ran as fast as my legs could. I needed Fran alive.

* Outside the castle *.

Horrible, frightening, horrifying ... Words that describe what my eyes see.

Death ... Death for each side that watched.

<< Fran >>

I ran again, I went to Fran's house and her father was dead in the entrance, with both hands I covered my mouth not to scream.

Scared, I looked everywhere, in search of something that isn't death or chaos, but I know it is impossible, it is a war, after all.

In the distance, I could see Fran, coming with a rifle held by both hands and blood on his clothes. I couldn't avoid sighing in relief... He was alive!

I ran to him and he looked at me surprised.

"What are you doing here?" He said angrily.

"You have to come to the castle, please; you can't stay here" I answered trying not to cry.

"I can't, Diana, I have to help when you assume, you have a country to govern." He smiled.

"Princess!" A guard yelled. He came running.

"Careful, Diana!" Fran spoke frightened.

*Shooting*

"Fran? No ... It's not true ... It's ... It's my fault..."

*Shooting*

The guard who came back killed the one who caused the first shot.

"Come now," he said, looking everywhere.

"I cannot leave, we have to help," I replied desperately.

The guard, seeing my resistance, took him, put him on his shoulder and hid us carefully; we arrived safely at the castle.

He left him on the ground and a pool of blood formed around him quickly.

"It's my fault," he spoke as I gently touched his wound and saw blood on my hand.

"It isn't, he died for the country."

"Obviously, you don't understand!" I cried as tears began to sprout from my eyes.

"Princess..."

"Leave me alone!" I ordered. "Fran, I'm sorry, this is my fault, if I had not acted recklessly, maybe you would be alive, I loved you, I love you and I will love you forever ... You will always be the first owner of my heart. Always."

I took a bracelet that he had since I knew him and I kept it to always remember him.

What was left of that awful day, I spent it crying and preparing a funeral for Fran, this was the first and last time I'm going to cry in front of someone.
