The day of allotment finally arrived. Sarah and Siddhi reached the FBI office a few moments earlier than their usual timing and stared at the long queue of people waiting to have a short look at the bulletin board.

"Go ahead! I'm sure you must have been assigned a case! Have a look." Sarah pushed Siddhi into the queue.

Sidddhi went past the crowd, "Excuse me, coming through!" Amidst the crowd, Siddhi looked for her name in the list.

Why couldn't she find her name?
Was there a typing mistake?
It couldn't be, she had tried so hard to get qualified for a case.

As Siddhi went back to Sarah, the latter asked eagerly, "So? Which case Siddy? Tell me quick,  I have to get back to mine!"

Siddhi sighed and shook her head. "When did you get your first case?"

Sarah kept her hand on Siddhi's shoulder and said,  "Hey it's okay. I'm sure you'll be assigned the next time. Don't get heavy hearted. I got mine just two months ago. You'll get yours too." With that she looked at her watch and added,  "By the way,  I'm running late. See you at Lunch?"

"Yeah, okay. I really need to speak to the boss.", replied Siddhi and walked away.

Siddhi waited for permission and then walked into chamber which had a board stated "Agent Marie's Williams.

"Siddy! So glad to see you. Tell me, how are your preparations going?", asked the head of department.

"I've been preparing for months Agent Williams,  my tutors tell me that I'm ready,  so why haven't I been assigned a case already?" , requestioned a worried Siddhi.

"I have constantly been receiving compliments about your performance Siddy and that's why I removed your name from the list.", said Marie.

"I didn't understand you."

Marie came closer and whispered into Siddhi's ears, "I have a stronger, more exciting mission for you. That's only if you're interested."

"What mission ma'am?", asked Siddhi.

"We need you to go undercover. The Scott murder case is way more complicated than we thought. You have potential Siddy. All you have to do is befriend Liam Scott into committing to you that he's the culprit." Marie replied,  softly.

"But why an undercover mission? Why not just interrogate him into telling the truth?", suggested Siddhi.

Marie's eyes grew tense. "Cops have already tried it,  nothing at all, no proof that he did it or any of his contacts too. The cops cannot arrest him without proof. You are going to help us with that. This case involves various murders commited by one murderer, not just one."

"And what about Liam's brother?"

"His brother is kidnapped by the murderer. There's no trace of him. Just a note by the murderer and he wants cash from Liam. The team believes that Liam has kidnapped Blake and is faking the note because he was the only one present in the house, the day the Scotts were murdered. Plus, the handwriting is a replica of Liam's.", replied Marie, in a mellow, grave voice.

"I'll do it ma'am.", replied Siddhi confidently.

"That's the spirit that I love in you. Just one thing. You can continue staying with Agent Matthews but you both need to surrender all your FBI belongings over here right from today. All kinds of paperwork, books, weapons, everything needs to be away from your house. I don't want to take any chance in your cover blowing up. From tomorrow morning you are a college student studying in Liam's class and she is your elder cousin who is a Primary Arts teacher."

"Sarah is solving this case undercover with me?"

"No, but since this is a very dangerous mission I need her to keep an eye out for you. She'll be solving a case of that same college you'll be going to. So she's her way and you are yours but you both are undercover from tomorrow morning."

"Thank you ma'am! Thank you so much!", replied Siddhi.
This would reflect so much more better on her CV, she thought.

As she walked outside, Marie called her back and said, "Make me proud Siddy. Don't do anything that will make me replace you."

Siddhi smiled. She knew that Agent Williams always believed in her work.
