Chapter 1 : Scene Of Crime
The sound of the police sirens were everywhere. There was so much chaos in Evelyn Street.
People were answering to the questions asked by the police. The press flooded the scene of crime wuth their cameras and microphones and were constantly pushed away by a few officers.
As the body of an old woman and an old man was pushed into an ambulance, about a kilometer away, two young girls sat on soft grass and stared at the scene.
"What do you think happened here?", asked the blond short haired one.
"I don't know Sarah, maybe the parents were murdered by their children?", answered the black long haired girl, her eyes wide open.
Sarah started laughing. "You know what I think Siddy? The parents killed each other while their kids were sleeping."
Siddhi giggled. It was just a few days ago she had joined the FBI and had met Sarah, a fun loving, jovial girl who always lightened up her mood. "And why would they do that?", she asked in her Indian accent. Siddhi Ahuja was Indian who was born and bought up in Canada. Her English was well versed and strong.
"Stop being a kiddy, and start thinking Siddy!", Sarah laughed again.
"Very funny. Firstly my name is Siddhi, not Siddy."
"Yeah? Same applies to you too. You really need to start pronouncing my name as Serra and not Sara!" They looked at each other and started laughing once more.
"Do you think they'll hand over this case to the FBI?", asked Siddhi after a while, her eyes grew tensed. She felt an urge to solve this case.
Sarah looked at Siddhi and exclaimed, "Hell yeahhhh! They will definitely do that. I mean, this house is known for all kinds of troubles. Living in this neighborhood sure has its perks of spying."
"Spying? What do you know about the house?" , asked an eager Siddhi.
"Well I usually cycle past that house every evening and I've heard violent sounds, sometimes even screams. I've seen the people staying here too. Kathlie Scott and Marshal Scott, the ones who were murdered, they had two sons, Liam's the elder and Blake's the younger. It seems that they've had their differences on a regular basis." Replied Sarah, confidently.
"So Liam and Blake must be getting questioned right now. Do you think any one of them did it?", asked Siddhi, curiously.
As a quick breeze blew past them, Sarah tucked her hair behind her ear and said, "I don't know. Maybe or maybe not. I don't know either of them well. This case seems complicated. Guess we'll have to find out when it is passed on to us. Please pray that you don't receive this one as your first case. It's going to be very hard on you if it does."
Siddhi sneezed. "It's getting cold. Let's go home. We'll see what happens in the office on case allotment day.", Siddhi said as she wrapped her arms around her body.
They got up, walked towards a red car parked in a distant and rode off.
As her roommate drove, Siddhi looked out of the window and got lost in her thoughts.
She was eager to know what her first case would be. She wanted it to be simple and quick so that she could solve as many cases as time could permit.
At the same time, she wanted to know how those brutal murders happened in that horror house. She was determined to solve that case too no matter whatever challenges she would have to face.
