Ross' POV:

So instead of my mom going to an IKEA or a furniture store to buy Robert stuff, she brought him to a BJ's. She said it's because she has a membership card and there's random cheap furniture in the middle. I would have rather went to an actual furniture store but I guess it's fine as long as Robert gets what he needs, and from the looks of it he actually looks like he's enjoying looking around the place.

We came just when the staff were setting up samples so everytime Robert saw a stand he would rush to it and grab two samples for me and him, which I actually really appreciated. Whenever me and my mom come here I get anxious getting the samples for myself so I just never get them.

He was also taking his time looking at the random tables of books, clothes, and games in the center and entrance of the store.

"Ooo.." I hear Robert mutter to himself from behind me.

I turn around to see what he's looking at and see it's a huge book about astronomy. I remember him telling me once stars fascinate him so it's no surprise this book caught his eye.

"Lemme see." I request, gesturing for him to hand me the book.

He hands me the book and I flip it over to check the price. Five ninety-nine (5.99), not bad.

"I'll buy it for you." I say to him with a small smile.

His eyes immediately light up and he smiles with his usual big smile that I love. "Really?!" he excitedly asks.

"Yeah you dork, here." I assure, handing him the book back.

He gives me a quick hug then runs back to my mom to look at the furniture.

"What do you think about this Robert?" she asks, pointing to a small brown dresser.

Robert walks up to it and opens one of the drawers before closing it back.

"This is good." he answers.

"Perfect! How much is it? Do you see a price tag?" my mom asks.

Robert starts looking around for a price tag, opening all the drawers and looking on the top and sides of it before he finds it on the bottom.

"It's fifty dollars!" he shouts.

"Mm, not bad. Alright boys, help me get this thing in the cart!" mom says.

Robert and her then go on each side of the dresser and put their hands on it, getting ready to lift it up.

"Wait, we don't have to build it? We just buy it like this?" I ask, getting behind the dresser.

"Yep! Now on three..."

She counts to three and we all lift up the dresser and as gently as we can, place it in the cart.

"Phew, well that counts as my workout for the day. Now let's go pay!" mom says, now pushing the cart to the huge line that went all the way to the bakery section (which is in the back of the store).

"Why is the line so big?!" I complain.

"Don't know, that's just how it always is whenever I come. No biggie though it moves fast. Usually." she answers. She smiles but I could tell she's actually annoyed with the line.

Robert sees another sample stand but surprisingly doesn't go towards it which confuses me cause he will literally eat anything.

"Ew." he mumbles.

"What?" I ask.

"It's coffee." he answers.

"...You don't like coffee?"

"No, it's so strong and.." He tries thinking of other words to diss coffee but can't so just goes with, "Blegh."

"That's good! You shouldn't be drinking coffee anyways at your age and it contains so much-!"

"Mom we know!"

"I'm just sayin hun."

I frown and quietly to Robert I whisper, "Can you get me a cup?"

He looks at me disgusted. "You-!"

I shush him and look at my mom to make sure she's not looking at us, which thankfully she's not.

"Don't be so loud, just get me a cup!" I whisper-yell.

He groans but quickly runs over to the coffee stand and brings me back a cup. I take it from him and take a sip. It's so good, just what I needed right now. Robert looks at me disgusted again and I chuckle.

"Y'know there's other ways to try it besides black, right?" I whisper to him.

He raises his eyebrows. "Like how?"

"Well there's latte's, cappuccino's, macchiato's, and lot's more. I think you'd like a caramel frappe from Mcdonalds, they're sweet and you can't even taste the coffee." I recommend to him, finishing up the coffee sample and throwing it in a nearby trash can,

"Maybe I'll try it, but if it's nasty I'll kill you." he jokes.

We laugh and Robert opens his astronomy book and starts reading. He would make little "Ooo's" every now and then which was cu- funny. Damn it.

Robert's POV:

We were only halfway through the line when I realized I had already read through fifty pages of the book. This book is actually really cool, there's a bunch of stuff in here that I never knew! Like how stars are actually black bodies, which are objects that absorb one hundred percent of all electromagnetic radiation that falls on it, for example black holes. But stars don't just absorb the radiation, they also radiate back into space more than it absorbs! So freaking cool. I want to read more but I wanna save it for when we get back home so I close the book and just admire the cover.

"How's the book?" Ross asks.

"It's awesome! Did you know that.."

I start rambling to him about everything I read in the book so far and he listens through all of it with an attentive look on his face, which kinda threw me off for a sec because usually when I start rambling I get cut off by something so it feels really nice that he's actually listening. Like he actually cares. I mean- of course he cares. I wouldn't be here furniture shopping if he didn't. And that look on his face- I don't know it's just- I don't know the word. It's warming to look at? I don't know how to describe this but I could ramble to him all day if it meant he would make that face.

After some more rambling we finally get to a self-checkout register and quickly scan the dresser. Jaune pays for the dresser and Ross does a separate payment for my book. I thank him again and give him a huge hug. We walk to the parking lot and me and Ross help Jaune put the dresser in the trunk of her car. Jaune then walks the cart back to the entrance of the store while me and Ross get in the back of the car.

"Were you serious about wanting to try the frappe because I could really go for some Mcdonalds right now." Ross asks while he puts his seatbelt on.

"Yeah! I'm willing to try anything sweet." I answer, also putting my seatbelt on.

"Alright, halfway through the ride you have to ask my mom for Mcdonalds."

"Why can't you ask?"

"Cause you're the- uh- guest and she'll listen to you. Moms always act differently around guests. More nice."

"If you say so."

We smile and give each other a thumbs up before Jaune enters the car and puts her seatbelt on. "You boys hungry? I could cook something when we get back." she asks.

I look at Ross and he gives me a thumbs up. So I ask, "Um, can we get Mcdonalds?"

Jaune looks at Ross through her mirror then back at the wheel. "Sure hun."

I thank her and smile at Ross as we subtly high five each other. Jaune then begins driving to the Mcdonalds, which was coincidentally just five minutes from the BJ's.

We pull into the drive-thru and Jaune looks at us both through the mirror. "What do you guys want?" she asks.

"Caramel frappe, spicy Mccrispy no pickles and fries." Ross answers.

"Chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce, fries, and a Doctor Pepper, please." I answer, exaggerating on the 'please' to bother Ross since he didn't say it.

Me and Ross ordered each other's drinks because we know Jaune wouldn't let me have coffee, since she lectured me about it in BJ's.

"Since when do you drink caramel frappuccinos? I thought you only liked black coffee. Usually you get Doctor Pepper from here." Jaune asks confused.

"Just trying new things, y'know?" Ross hesitantly answers.

"Alright.."

Jaune then proceeds to order and pulls up to the first window to pay. After that she drives up to the second window and takes our food from the employee in the window. Jaune thanks them and checks to make sure everything is in the bag and hands us our food as she does so. After we all had our food she begins driving home.

Ross hands me the caramel frappe with the straw already in it so I could take a quick sip without Jaune noticing. The frappe actually looks really good, there was whipped cream on top with a caramel drizzle and caramel on the bottom. It was also light brown which made me feel a little bit better about tasting the coffee. I hesitantly took a sip and when I did I felt like I ascended to who knows where with a choir singing in the background. I wanted to drink it all right then and there but Ross stopped me because Jaune would've noticed.

"See?" Ross whispers.

"It literally doesn't taste like coffee at all, just pure sweetness! How is that possible?!" I whisper-yell back.

Ross chuckles and takes the frappe away from me so Jaune doesn't see. He puts it in the cupholder on his side of the door then gestures for me to put a straw in the Doctor Pepper so he could have a sip. I quickly do it and while it's still in my hand he takes a quick sip. I put the drink back in my cup holder and through the glimpse of my eye see Jaune staring me down through the mirror. I was about to say sorry but she just quietly chuckles to herself and mouths 'it's fine' through the mirror before turning her attention back to the road. I also chuckle and me and Ross start eating our food.
