Chapter Four: Between Them
The weekend came along eventually, and after a week full of boring classes everyday followed by slow wifi Cress couldn't have been more glad when she and Scarlet were pulled out of their room and led over to the car park by Iko and Cinder. There he was waiting in his car, that in itself looked more expensive than all the technology she had ever owned... which was a lot.
"I didn't realise there was going to be four of you," Thorne said, leaning out of his car window and eyeing Scarlet. "Who's the redhead?" he asked.
"Scarlet," Cinder shouted over the blaring music that played from the speakers. She opened the door to the passenger seat, swinging herself in before anyone could object.
For someone who seemed to hate him so much she seemed rather eager.
The rest of them piled in the back, Cress squashed in between the two taller girls, but at least it gave her more leg room.
For a car that looked expensive it wasn't all that roomy, which Cress guessed would be what she looked for in a car.
"Where's hot girl?" Thorne asked, looking back at the three of us. Cinder grunted.
"Not you too," she moaned.
"What?" he asked, grinning.
"Winter's not here and everyone's been giving Scarlet hell about it, don't you be like that too." Cinder explained.
"I was just saying," Thorne said before slamming his foot down on the pedal. The car took off with a jerk and Cress grabbed hold of her seat, hoping this was just a glitch in his driving. But no, the whole ride was like that, and for half the journey she wished she could hack into his brain and reprogram it to drive straight.
Cinder turned the music off, complaining it was going to melt her brain and so they were forced to make conversation, something Cress had never been good at.
She cringed back in the car until they pulled into a car park in front of a block of towering flats, looking as if no one had been there in years. The car park was mostly empty consisting of only a few dented vehicles; Cress was surprised Thorne's posh car hadn't been nicked yet.
Thorne pulled the car to a stop, throwing them all forward, and for a moment Cress was happy to be sandwiched between Scarlet and Iko: it kept her from breaking any bones.
"This is it!" Thorne said, way to overenthusiastically, swinging himself out of the car and opening the door behind him for Iko. She giggled as she jumped out, and Cress couldn't help blushing when Thorne offered his hand to help her out (which she obviously didn't need, but took anyway), shutting the door behind her and dropping her hand quickly. Though it had only been a brief moment of contact, Cress could still feel his warmth on her skin.
There was no one sitting at the desk in the bottom of the building, and no one in their way as they made their way up the stairs to the third floor (why they couldn't take the lift Cress didn't know). Cress wondered if anyone did actually live there.
Thorne's flat was larger than she would have expected for a building like this, and not anywhere near as messy. She suspected he applied the same amount of care to it as he did his car.
"Welcome to my humble abode," Thorne said, flopping down on the sofa and pulling Iko down with him, making her giggle.
"Take a seat and I'll get you all a drink."
Hesitantly Cress sat down beside Scarlet on the sofa opposite the one Iko and Thorne were on, a coffee table between them. Cinder rested herself on the arm beside Thorne, incredibly close for someone who said she hated him so much. Her arm brushed his as Thorne stood and Cinder flinched back, looking annoyed, but not at Thorne.
Cress wondered what was between them, because right now she found it hard to believe that Cinder hated Thorne as much as she made out.
After asking the girls what they wanted to drink Thorne wondered off to the kitchen, throwing a wink back at them, though Cress wasn't sure who it was directed at, or if it was directed at anyone in particular at all.
"So this is where you spent the summer?" Scarlet asked, receiving a nod from Cinder as she leaned back against a wall, not slipping into the free seat where Thorne was sat a moment before. She seemed so different here, shy almost, and nothing like that when she had seen Thorne and Cinder together before.
"The place doesn't look big enough for three rooms," Cress pointed out.
"There's not," Iko said.
"Iko and I shared," Cinder finished quickly before anyone could ask the question. She was almost blushing and seemed completely on edge, very much like when Kai had come over at lunch on the first day, very much like every time she saw Kai.
Her curiosity was intoxicating.
"Here we go," Thorne mumbled through the glass clenched between his teeth. He set it down first before setting down the other four, two in each hand and sliding them out towards the corresponding person.
"Isn't Kinney here today?" Iko asked, taking a sip of her coke.
"Nope, sorry Iko he's out with his girlfriend," said Thorne. Iko sighed, taking another sip, her eyes meeting Cress's. Cress tilted her head in question, but Iko just shrugged. She would be sure to ask her later who this Kinney was.
"Is he still with Sybil?" Cinder asked, turning her head so it was right next to Thorne's and turning away again quickly, her face alight.
"Oh, no they broke up and got back together again last week. Sorry again Iko," Thorne said.
"Sorry," Scarlet interrupted the silence that followed, "who's Kinney?"
"Just a friend," Thorne said, though Iko clearly didn't think about him in that way.
After the talking became too much for Cress to take in she zoned out, watching her friends faces instead and thinking about what she would hack when she got back to school, possibly she would try to access Thorne's phone... not for any particular reason though, but just to see if she could.
She didn't doubt that she would be able to.
----
After a few hours of the stress of trying to keep a straight face they got ready for Thorne to take them back to school, but before Cinder could walk out of the door Thorne pulled her to one side, calling out to the rest of the girls, "I'll meet you in the car."
Iko gave Cinder a worried look, but after a reassuring nod she carried on with Cress and Scarlet, the door banging shut behind them.
"What do you want," Cinder growled, but not before realising Thorne had her backed up against a wall and was towering over her.
"I've missed you," he said.
"That's ridiculous, you can call me or visit whenever you like," Cinder said, nervous with Thorne so close to her, his body almost pressing against hers.
"You know what I mean," Thorne said, leaning down to kiss the side of Cinders mouth gently. Her heart pounded in her chest, her cheeks flaring, and she didn't restrain the red blush that spread across her cheeks. She didn't particularly care when it was just him.
He leaned down again, pressing his lips against hers and running a hand over her hair, but she stepped out of his grasp before she couldn't, leaving him leaning against the wall by himself.
"The others are waiting," she said, "let's not do this now."
"You've got to stop acting so nervous around me," Thorne said, straightening himself. "Someone's going to notice."
"Then you've got to stop kissing me," Cinder said, reaching for the door handle, but Thorne covered her hand with his to stop her from opening it, and a surge of heat rushed through her.
"I thought you liked me kissing you," Thorne said, and even though she couldn't see him, Cinder could hear the grin in his voice.
"Not when other people are around," she said.
"No one else is here," Thorne said, leaning into her and wrapping his arms around her waist, "it's just me," he leaned in closer, "and you," he whispered into her ear, his breath light. Cinder forgot how to breathe as he nibbled on her ear lobe and she leaned back against him, all her senses blocking themselves with only the thought of him.
She let him turn her around and kiss her lips again, but shaking her head she pulled away, pulling the door open before either her or Thorne could stop her. She stepped out into the cold corridor with Thorne behind her, and tried to calm her racing heart as she descended through the building.

A/N: well you know what I say, it's never to early to break a few hearts... I have really bad morals don't I...
Well I hope you don't hate me too much, but this was surprisingly fun to write (surprisingly? of course it was fun I got to write Carswell Thorne!)
What did you all think? Does anyone here actually ship Thorne and Cinder romantically? They're one of my brOTPs, but I've always wondered what they'd be like in a romantic reltionship so I wrote it.
That's pretty much my life...
I thought: what if? So I wrote it.
My mum going to bed before me if like her just giving me permission to write until 2am...
Well it's not my fault!
So tell me what you think, wanna know your opinions on everything, like literally everything, like literally right now comment your opinion on polar bears or global warming or the post apocoliptic feeling of whatever song you're currently listening to
Because I'm listening to diamonds (not done that in a while) because it's in nightcore, and since the last time I listened to this is was in this massive hunger games phase (while also watching the walking dead gamesplay) it always has a post apocolyptic feeling to me... I don't know why it just does...
I'm thinking of my hunger games phase now...
Now you're free to comment on your opinion on the hunger games!!!
No, not the lunar chronicles or anything, not this fanfic, no just talk about everything besides that!!!!
Also anyone see the cover change (I would put it in the media if I wasn't on my computer and the art wasn't on my tablet)
*whispers* I changed it so much
I EDITED MYSELF AND I'M SO PROUD!!!
... just let me have my moment
I don't talk to real people in real life practically all day, especially when I'm at school so I have to do it on the internet at almost midnight.
My jumper has an owl on it... its really warm...
THAT SENTANCE IS DEFINATLY GETTING A PLACE IN THIS STORY!!!
By the way the song in the media is owl city in nightcore!!!
You should totally listen to it!!!
someone's gotta tell me to shut up, but unfortunatly I'm alone right now...
*whispers* so alone...
So yeah, tell me what you thought of the story (I'm so dam blunt)
Thorne: Bye!
