jaemin walked back to his house late at night, when jeno had fallen asleep.
he had spied on him all day, and even when he got back to his own house.
jaemin had seen jeno's mother, a very sweet and caring person looking like a female version of jeno. and, he had seen a brand new jeno.
that boy was completely different from the person he had seen at school. jeno was no longer cold like he was at school, not at all. this jeno was caring, he showed signs of love to his mother and to his cats. he was the opposite of how he was at school, avoiding people and not caring about the others.
jaemin wondered what made him like this. his file said that the boy had family troubles, but from what jaemin had seen, everything seemed to go the right way... this was something he will have to seek further.
"ah... my wings." jaemin sighed once he had passed the door of his house and let his wings appear and spring out.
during the day, jaemin was obliged to fold them behind his back and use the 'recedo' spell to make them disappear.
honestly, that was horrible for him.
not only did he feel so attached to his wings that having to walk everywhere was torture, but also, they felt soar when deploying them after a full day.
jaemin didn't waste a second to fly through his house, sighing at the pleasant feeling he hadn't felt for a whole day.
after having written in the file about his first day, jaemin lied on the fluffy layer of cloud that was his bed remembering everything about his day.
his mission was far from being a simple one. jeno and renjun hated each other for no reason, and it's not some beautiful encounter that will make them forget about their rivalry... it was clear that they hated each other without knowing why. jeno didn't seem like someone who could be this mean for no reason. jaemin had seen it in his comportment at his house. he was caring. so why wouldn't he be towards renjun?
perhaps because something on renjun's side was going wrong? anyway, he would see this tomorrow, when spying on renjun. for the moment, nothing in jeno's persona could form a valid reason to hate the boy. everything in him was irreproachable. his behaviour at home, his loving side, his beautiful face, his body... everything...
and so, jaemin slowly fell asleep, the image of jeno's toned body not leaving his mind.

the next morning, renjun walked out of his house to go to school pretty early.
seeing the grey clouds announcing a rainy day had made him in a good mood. he was convinced today would be a good day. hopefully, jeno wouldn't be there to ruin it.
he slowly walked to school, humming a tune while smiling, the chains attached to his clothes colliding and sounding like christmas bells at each step he made.
all in all, a very good way to start your day.
renjun arrived to school on time, and walked to his art classroom, for his first class. the teacher was already here, chatting with some students about their projects.
renjun decided to start a brand-new painting, not to remind himself of his annoying chat with jeno the day before. sure, he needed to finish that painting before the end of the week, but today was a way too good day to cloud your mind with lee jeno.
renjun left his bag next to his easel and walked to the classroom's cupboard to pick a canvas, a palette and some brushes. he placed the canvas on the easel and took out of his bag the new tubes of pain he had bought.
he opened the first tube and squeezed a bit of it on his palette, doing the same with two other tubes. he wet a large brush in the glass of water he had previously prepared and then dipped it in the red paint.
today's painting would be abstract. he had no fix idea of what to pain. just a bubbly feeling in his stomach that he wanted to put on a canvas.
and that's what he did.
in a few minutes, his white canvas had become a colourful mess, splashes of yellow paint in the corners, reddish stripes everywhere, orange spirals that mixed with the blotches he had left there before... there was so much paint that his opus had relief.
"woah. you were inspired today, renjun." the teacher congratulated him when she passed behind.
renjun nodded, not even paying attention to her. he was concentrated. nothing could distract him.
later that day, renjun was at the canteen, standing in the long queue and waiting to be served.
he picked up a tray and placed it on the rail in front of the different varieties of food. he picked a small plate with some salad, and then a natural yoghurt before getting in front of the desserts. a chocolate cake was there, begging to be picked by him.
just as renjun stretched out his hand to pick it, another hand coming from nowhere did the same.
renjun lifted his head to look at who it was and furrowed his brows.
"i had it first." he growled.
"we had it at the same time, shortie. don't make a fuss and let me take it." jeno replied, his hand holding the plate firmly. it was the last piece of chocolate cake, and jeno was too much of a chocolate-enthusiast to let this precious piece of cake go.
"why would i? i was in the queue, you came from the other way, which means you already have eaten."
jeno raised a brow. "i didn't take a desert before. i'm taking it now."
"too bad. you should have picked the chocolate cake when you passed." renjun spat, pulling on the plate.
"don't even try using your strength with me, i'll destroy you." jeno warned, pulling the plate towards him and bringing renjun with it.
"you asshole just let me- "
"boys! keep going! there's a long queue behind you!" the canteen lady yelled, waiting for renjun to settle in front of her and tell her what he wanted to eat.
renjun glared at jeno.
he had forgotten how it all had started, why he hated him this much... it was all in the past, and their daily bickering was always nonsense, but they had gotten used to it. it's as if they couldn't live a day without it.
jeno didn't seem like a bad person when you looked from afar. but when he met renjun for the first time, something had gone wrong, and here they were now.
"give me the cake." renjun told.
"come and take it." jeno smirked before taking the cake with his bare hand and stuffing it in his mouth.
renjun gasped and snatched the pieces that were exceeding from his mouth before putting them back in the empty plate and slamming it into his tray.
"you're going to eat that when it was in my mouth?" jeno asked, struggling to talk because of his full-mouth.
"i'll make sure to pour bleach on it before to disinfect it." renjun spat, pushing jeno to finally get his meal.
once again, they had fought.
once again, it was stupid.
and once again, renjun was questioning 'why?'.
why had they come to a point where they couldn't even have a normal conversation?
why did he feel the urge to just yell at that boy?
why did jeno always act this mean with him?
jaemin was seated at a table, inside the canteen. he had used his fake school card to enter and he had followed renjun around since the beginning of the day.
he had witnessed their bickering – form afar, but still – and he was asking himself the exact same questions as renjun right now.
he didn't understand what in this boy's life could justify his hatred towards jeno.
renjun was a nice kid, sure, he had a cold façade on, but jaemin had seen how much of a passionate boy he was in his art class. there, he looked like someone so pure and angelic. he couldn't hate jeno for no reason.
and the same goes for jeno that he had spied on the past day. he was a real sweetheart when he was at home.
so, what had made those two perfect boys hate each other this much?
