Chapter 5: Cherry
I frowned as Reina explained the whole situation to us, and Astrid just simply stood besides her, eyes unwavering and empty.
'Gods...' I inhaled, 'That's...'
I stopped immediately as I thought of what words I could use to describe this situation. Horrible? Scary? Sad? None of them seemed to fit. Some might be too harsh, some not appropriate. So I just covered it up with a shrug and a sigh.
Reina lowered her head, out of enthusiasm as she always did before,'What can we do?'
Astrid suddenly widened her eyes and shouted something soundlessly. She stomped her feet in frustration as she realized no sound came out as usual, then ran away, leaving a trail of white mist and a small line of words formed by ice: Something is calling me to them. I have to go.
But what's that thing? Why did it call her at this time and this suddenly?
We raced after her, trying to catch up with her, but all we found is surrounding silvery smoke and nothing else.
'Astrid! Where are you!'
'What are you girls doing here?' A voice rang behind our backs and in a sudden, I jolted with realization as I waved my hand and the illusion was dismissed.
When did Astrid learn how to create illusions? And why is she doing that?
'What happened?' The same voice called out again.
'If you are talking to us then at least show us where you are. I am not interested in talking to air.' hissed Reina.
'Oh yeah? You do have eyes do you, Reina? Our famous Queen of Fire?'
A boy around fifteen jumped in front of us from somewhere above us and grinned, 'Nice to meet you, I'm Flint, and there's no need to say thank you.' He had raven hair with catchy fire red streaks and eyes, balls of flames circling him.
He offered a hand to Reina as she swatted it away and snorted, 'Flint? Strange name. Never heard of you before. And yes, I definitely won't thank you, duh.'
'Oh yeah? And you? You're the Queen of Fire, but you have a rainy name instead? Rein?' He laughed.
'So what, at least I'm powerful enough to drown you up, tiny little flint! Off our way!' Reina thundered and flicked her hair as she rushed past Flint.
I swear I saw a red dragon mark on Flint's shoulder before I go.
He must be someone in the famous family here...
