Who's Dead in the Town Hall?

Mabel was fuming, her fist still clenched and a small amount of Candy's blood was on it. "WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING?!?" Mabel screamed, making everyone turn and look at them but Mabel didn't care. She was too angry and care. "I was just trying to get Dipper to like me, something that YOU said you'd help me do!" Candy said, still cradling the broken nose. Mabel then turned her attention to Dipper. "And you, what were you thinking doing that to Pacifica!" Mabel had the right mind to punch him as well but she didn't, something just felt off. "Look Mabel I don't know what you're talking about, I only have feelings for Candy." Dipper proclaimed with utter sincerity in his voice.

Mabel couldn't believe her ears, why the hell was he saying this, he loves Pacifica and not Candy. "He can't be telling the truth, he's probably under some kind of spell!" Mabel thought, then an idea struck her. She reached into her purse and pulled out a small necklace. It was a simple gold chain but on the end was a shard of the Truth Stone(yes, this damn thing is back) and walked up to Dipper. While he was distracted she clasped the necklace in place them proceeded to ask him questions. "Do you love Pacifica?" Mabel asked bluntly, to which Dipper replied, "No, never have." He said immediately before getting a look of confusion on his face. "Do you love Candy?" Mabel then asked, "Yes, more than anything yes!" Dipper again answered immediately. "How long have you loved her?" Mabel then questioned. This time Dipper didn't answer right away, instead he furrowed his brow trying to concentrate.

"I can't remember, but I know that I love her!" Dipper repeated almost like he was stuck on loop. At first Candy looked up and smiled at Dipper, then a horrible truth finally settled in. "Wait, Pacifica...you were dating PACIFICA?!?!" Candy asked incredulously, now remembering that girl running away crying. "Oh no, oh God what have I done?!?" Candy was now frantic, she had just destroyed her only chance of becoming friends with Pacifica. "WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU TELL ME DIPPER?!?" Candy asked Dipper angrily, tears coming down her face.

"I...I...-HUECK!" He never finished, Dipper was suddenly shaking from head to foot. "Dipper, are you okay?" Mabel asked, her anger momentarily replaced with concern. Dipper started to tense up, his eyes bulging out of his head. He collapsed and puked blood but it looked to be a bright green color with gold specks littered in it. "What the hell?!?" Mabel was scared, her brother looked to be dying and she had no idea what to do.

"NO, I HAVEN'T....GOT...MY....NOOOOOOO!" Dipper screamed, his voice changing near the end. He then gave one last twitch, somehow trying to grasp at the last of his life, then went still.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Mabel let out a scream, followed by everyone doing the same and exiting the building in a scattering rush.

Mabel couldn't move, she had a look of pure terror and sorrow on her face. The tears started falling, first lightly, then she was sobbing heavily. "Please...come back Dipper." Mabel choked out through the tears.

Candy looked up at her best friend as she cried over her brother. Candy felt horrible, SHE had caused the death of a good friend and a great brother just because she was jealous. Candy looked down in shame, no longer able to look Mabel in the eyes. In the moment neither Mabel nor Candy heard a door open.

"What the hell happened here?!?" They heard a voice ask in fear.

Mabel and Candy looked up, unprepared for what they saw. "D...Dipper...how?" Mabel stuttered in shock, she thought she might have been hallucinating but when she looked at Candy and also had the same face of disbelief. "Oh man, did he hurt anyone, Where's Pacifica?" Dipper asked in worry, looking around frantically. Suddenly he felt someone tackle him, it was Mabel and she was crying hard. OH GOD, I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!!!" She said as she hugged him tightly. Dipper managed to release his arms and hug her back, "I'm not dead yet Mabel, please don't cry." Dipper said soothingly, rubbing her back with his thumb to calm her down.

When she finally stopped crying she looked up at him, then her expression turned to confusion. "Wait, then who's that?" She asked, pointing to the body next to Candy. Dipper walked over, before he examined the body he looked over at Candy. What happened to you?" Dipper asked, an awkward sense of concern growing for the bleeding girl on the floor. "I hit her square in the nose, probably broke it if I'm lucky." Mabel said angrily. Candy only looked down, as if she was afraid to answer.

Dipper then looked at what was supposed to be him on the floor and frowned. He remembered something in the second journal detailing what to do in this situation. Dipper reached around the copy's neck and pressed a soft patch of "skin". The body started to convulse, and then it loosened up to take its original shape. After a couple of seconds of gory morphing, the figure was revealed to be the shapeshifter. "The shapeshifter?!? I thought we froze him!" Mabel said, obvious fear in her voice. "He locked me in a cage, he was working with Bill, Gideon, and Giffany on something but I don't understand how he ended up like this."

"I might." Candy finally spoke up. Dipper looked at her and kneeled down, asking Mabel to get some tissues. When she returned Dipper grabbed a couple and gave them to Candy, who gratefully took them and plugged her nose. "Candy, what happened?" Dipper asked. She looked at Dipper guiltily and explained it all; how Bill visited her, how he promised to make Dipper fall for her by giving him the love potion, how she put the entire vial in his drink, how that thing kissed her,(she had to stop for a second to throw up) and right to where they were now.

"Can't say I can justify what you did but it's kind of sweet to know you went through so much trouble just for me." Dipper said with a kind smile, but Candy only looked down in shame. "I didn't know you were dating Pacifica, if I had known I never would have done what I did." Candy's eyes were beginning to tear up again but Dipper squeezed her hand in reassurance. "It's in the past." then he looked up at Mabel, "Look, I know what Candy did was wrong, but being overcome with jealously drives the kindest of people to do terrible things, you know this better than anyone." Dipper said, raising an eyebrow at his sister, who's cheeks turned a bright scarlet.

Eventually Mabel's angry expression soon softened a great degree, "I'm sorry I didn't see your problem the way you saw it, I never knew you were hurting so much. Can you forgive me for the broken nose?" Mabel asked meekly, to which Candy gave a small smile. "You don't even have to ask, I know what I did was underhanded and crappy but I guess I saw it as THE only way." She said and got up. Dipper looked to be in deep thought, "Dipper, you okay?" Mabel asked once she turned her attention back on him. "I'm just wondering how I'll manage to explain this to Pacifica, that whole ordeal with fake me kissing Candy is kind of a stretch for most people to understand. Hell, I probably wouldn't believe it is I wasn't there!" Dipper exclaimed, running his fingers through his hair.

Then they heard the door open once more and in it stood a few familiar faces. "Mark, what the heck are you still hanging around for?" Mabel asked incredulously, she had thought he had run off with the crowd. "Nice to see you too Mabel." He said before catching a glimpse of the dead shapeshifter, his eyes going wide in shock and his mouth opening and closing like a fish. Then Dipper saw the last person he thought he'd see again, "Giffany?" Dipper said in surprise as, sure enough, there stood the love sick computer program that helped him escape.

"Please, I wish to help you stop Bill. I know what I've done is horrible but I wish to make up for it, to protect the ones I love!" She said with great deal of determination in her voice. "Wait, Giffany? Isn't she that coocoo computer game that fell in love with Soos?" Mabel asked hesitantly. "Yes but she's alright, put the salad fork down!" Dipper said, grabbing the fork from his unstable sister.

They then saw someone they weren't expecting. "Old Man McGucket, why are you here?" Dipper asked, he hadn't seen or heard from the memory impaired scientist. "Dipper I'm glad I found ya, I think something's coming and it ain't going to be pretty!" He frantically said, looking around nervously. "Look Fiddlferd I know you think something bad is going to happen but the last time you told me something like this it turned out to be nothing." Dipper was saying but McGucket was having none of it. "Dang flabbit listen t'me boy, we're all in danger!" He said before pulling out a notebook. "I was at my shack sleepin away when I get a vision of the beast with one eye! He said he's finally got what he wanted thanks to what transpired t'night!"

Dipper was confused, "Got what he wanted, the hell does that mean?" He thought to himself but couldn't come up with anything logical. "Look, before we do anything we should go get Pacifica!" Dipper heard someone say, he looked back and saw it was Candy. When she saw all the confused looks she got up, determined, "I just...want to say I'm sorry for what I did. This is my fault and I want to fix it!" She pulled out the wads of tissues in her nose.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?"

Time skip...

The group arrived at McGucket's personal garage, whom insisted that they take some equipment to combat Bill if need be. When they arrived they saw someone already in the garage working on something beneath a tarp. "Egret, you still working on that blasted thing?!?" McGucket called, clearly annoyed. "Yes sir, been trying to find the problem but nothing seems out of place, it's a little bizarre!" The man exclaimed bewildered in whatever he was doing. They went over and introduced themselves to the guy, who in turn said his name was Cornelius James Egret. "He's a gradgiate of some fancy school but came to be my apprentice when no one would hire." McGucket explained. "And let me tell you, hands on training with him is a lot more fun than some teacher droning on for hours in a classroom!" Cornelius said, returning to his work.

"So, what exactly are we here for again?" Mabel asked, disgusted by the condition of the shop. "Some of my personal equipment that I prepared long ago if that freaky triangle guy ever comes after me!" McGucket said in a frantic tone. He went over to a large cabinet and opened it up making everyone else, even his apprentice, go speechless with surprise. Inside were what appeared to be carbine rifles, like the one Gruncle Ford has on when he came out of the portal, but they glowed with an eerie green color. There were also swords but they didn't look to be made out of any metal Dipper had read about.

"Well, quit yer gawkin' and grab em'!" McGucket said impatiently and everyone grabbed either a rifle or a sword. They mostly handled the weapons awkwardly because none of them were trained but Candy was handling the katana like a pro. "Now I understand that most of you," McGucket was saying, excluding Candy from the mix of inexperienced "have no idea what yer doin and frankly I get it, I only developed the weapons but I am too old to use them. So instead I brought in some people to help you maintain focus on your mission." And as if on cue two people walked forward and, quite frankly, Dipper was going to pass out from all the surprises today. "WENDY...SOOS...but how-" he was cut off by the handy man. "Sorry dudes, we just couldn't tell you because McGucket swore us to secrecy." Then Wendy continued, "Where do you think we've been all this time while we were away from the shack?" She asked in a joking manner. Everyone now was looked about ready to have an aneurysm but Dipper kept his cool. "Why would you guys do this?" Dipper asked, non accusingly of course.

"Because me and Soos were tired of getting in your guy's way whenever you went after anything paranormal. When McGucket offered to train us well, it was too good to pass up. Since about when Stanford came out of the portal we've been training and truthfully, we got good." She bragged, picking up and twirling her two outfitted wood cutter's axes. Soos hefted a large sniper rifle and had a multitude of knives and a handgun on him. "Well, you two certainly take badass to a new level." Mark said.

McGucket told them to change into more appropriate clothes for fighting and, sure enough, there in the back of the shop was a rather clean boys and girls dressing rooms. After they got dressed Dipper came out and was astonished. "What material is this?" McGucket was about to explain when Candy beat him to it. "It appears to be a titanium and Kevlar based armor with a graphine and nylon combination pads around the joint and nervous areas in the limbs." She then noticed all the surprised faces around her and her face went red. "I'm a dress maker, I have to know these types of things." She said.

Once they were all outfitted with the appropriate gear; Dipper and Mabel taking a handgun, Mark taking an assault rifle, Candy with her katana, and Giffany who had downloaded a tutorial on sword fighting(yes, we have officially crossed into "Matrix" now)picked up and begun to expertly twirl two short swords. "So, now what?" Mabel asked. "Now we have to go get Pacifica and get her out of the way. If McGucket is right about Bill then I don't want her to get hurt." Dipper laid out the game plan.

"I don't like this," he continued "I don't like what this whole situation could lead to. This isn't just another fight on the dreamscape, this is real life. I don't want things to go that way but I can't guarantee that all of us will come out alive, or if we do our minds won't be the same."

"This is our battle, let's not turn it into Gravity Falls's war!"
