I rushed up to Aidan, a cigarette hanged out of his mouth while he was surrounded by two guys both washed out in dark colors. His lacrosse stick stuck out of his backpack. He sat on the gray cement by the stairs. I felt hot walking quickly towards where he was seated. My thoughts were running faster than my feet.
"You!" I shoved him hard. The people around him took a step back. Their eyes widened.
"Camille? Is everything alright?" The shove barely effected him as he hardly moved. I shook my head.
"Is everything alright?" I yelled at him. He reached his hand out to touch my shoulder, but decided against it placing his hand back at his side.
"Lets go talk about this somewhere else-"
"I am done listening to you." I told him sternly. Aidan threw the cigarette on the cement, furrowing his eyebrows.
"My best friend since kindergarten won't talk to me, because I accused her of something you did." Thoughts clouded my mind as I spoke quickly. I wanted to say more. To just scream at him for lying to me. Confusing me about what was right and what was wrong.
"What are you talking about?" He said in a quiet tone.
"The pills." A closed lip smile went on my lips as Aidan's face settled.
I could tell he remembered. I didn't want to find out that he did. I didn't believe myself.
He proved me wrong.
Aidan looked towards the ground. He wouldn't even look at me.
Coward.
"Okay." I said silently to myself. I turned and walked away and with every step I hoped Aidan would start to come after me. To stop me or even just call out to give some sort of excuse. But he didn't and I moved farther away.
I shook my head watching the ground as I walked. Someones shoulder was shoved into mine. "Sorry, are you alright?" The voice asked. I looked up to see Ethan's mop of golden hair.
Perfect timing.
I just wanted to go to class. I was done arguing with people about things I couldn't control.
"Oh." He mumbled. "It's you." Ethan glanced towards the ground.
"Yeah." I started to take a step away from him towards the school when he took my hand.
"We need to figure this out." His eyebrows furrowed as he searched my face.
I looked down towards his hand in mine. It used to be a regular thing. Last year we would walk down the halls fingers interwind. Where we used to not care about what people thought, because it was just us. Before everything went down hill.
"Sorry." He pulled his hand from mine. "Its a habit" Ethan's voice was cracked and raw. I looked to his face dark circles sat underneath his ocean blue eyes.
"Its fine." I was holding my breath. This conversation seemed so monatoned, so controlled.
Stiff.
Ethan lead me across the parking lot to his car. He was always at least two feet ahead of me. When he past the passenger side he opened the door on his way to the drivers seat. I got in and shut the door. We drove to the board walk. It was early that morning so there was hardly anyone down there. You could smell the ocean throughout the breeze. We stopped at the end of the dock. No words were said between us since we were at the school.
Ethan spoke out. "I always thought we were like meant to be." A smile was fixed on his face. "Isn't that crazy?" His goofy smile appeared.
"I never thought about anyone like that, but when I saw you." Ethan laughed. followed with a shake of his head. "I'm not sure."
He looked at me and smiled slightly. "E-" I started when he cut me off.
"You don't see me the way I see you." Ethan stopped smiling.
"Thats not true." I told him. He looked away again he didn't speak for a while. Just silence.
"Why did you kiss me Cam?" Ethan was confused. He had a right to be.
"Were you bored..?" He spoke in a horse whisper.
My head started to shake frantically. "No." I felt hurried.
"Then what?" His voice started to become tight.
"I.. I don't know." I looked at Ethan. That wasn't an acceptable answer.
"You were being you. You were there." I didn't know how to phrase it.
"Convenience." He willed the irritation out of his voice. He just sounded hurt.
I never wanted to hurt Ethan. My chest started to ache.
"No Ethan."I sighed heavily. "You are what keeps me grounded, you've always been."
Ethan stuffed his hands in his pockets. "I'm not what you want though." He felt defeated. I do too.
I shook my head. "I don't know what I want."

We got back to the school there was a group of kids on the side of the school. Ethan went inside to go to class. I walked closer to the noise seeing a large group of kids, including Aidan and the raven haired girl. Some were smoking, Aidan wasn't. A first for everything I guess.
I started to turn and go into the school when I heard them quiet down.
"Finally you got rid of her, Its ridiculous. Her following you around all the time." I glanced seeing the raven haired girl yapping to the group. Aidan's jaw was clenched and his fist were balled tightly at his side.
"What's her name, Camille?" She threw her head back and laughed. Her white teeth showing.
What?
"Shut up." He said quietly.
"What? You've got to be kidding me, you have feelings for her?" She glared at him, she wasn't amused anymore.
Feelings? What feelings would Aidan have towards me?
"Shut the fuck up." Aidan spoke roughly were it sounded as almost a growl.
"Fuck you." She spit.
"Ada. Stop." The voice's black hair was tossed on his head following his eyes that were so dark they were almost black.
She scoffed in response. "Whatever." Ada started to walk away from the group and toward me. My feet moved under me running to the closest tree. I took a deep breath pressing my back against the rough bark. I heard her steps walking away towards the school and the rest of them followed her. I closed my eyes softly.
"Looking for something?" I heard a deep low voice. I jumped keeping my eyes closed. I opened one slowly seeing Aidan with his head tilted.
"Just leaving." I mumbled taking a few steps around the tree when I was suddenly pulled back by him pressing me against the tree.
"Just wait." He whispered. I started to squirm against him trying to move. He was heavy and built. I eventually gave up huffing.
"I don't get how you think this is okay-" I told him quickly. He pushed one finger to my lips stopping me from speaking.
I hated how his closeness made my heart race. I hated that he could do this and it didn't effect him. Take my life and spin it upside down.
I looked at his facial structure as he peaked around the tree looking for someone? He looked back at me and met my eyes. he glanced for a moment then backed up. I was ready to go when he released me. Like I was some sort of animal that needed to be held down.
You don't know him Camille. He lied to you. I got myself together and started to walk away from him.
"Can we talk." His voice was stiff and surly. Almost on the verge of vulnerable.
I turned around to face him. What did he want from me? We are perfect strangers.
"No." I mumbled turning around and started walking straight to class.

After Lacrosse practice I was driving home in the family's range rover. I didn't have George drive me to school today. I wanted to do something normal, or at least something that felt like it. The rain started to pour beating down on the windshield. I drove down a winding road surrounded by dark trees. Forest was on both sides of the road. I squinted seeing a figure walking on the road.
I drove past slowly as the hooded figure turned to glance at me.
Aidan.
I wanted to keep on driving, my gut started to eat at me. Telling me what the right thing to do was. I fell hard on the brakes. I tapped the steering wheel impatiently as he walked past the passenger window. I rolled my eyes stepping out of the car.
"Aidan!" I shouted putting a hand on my forehead trying to see him through the downpour.
"Aidan!" I shouted louder when he failed to turn around. He look back at me standing still.
"Get in the car." I told him sternly. The rain started to soak my hair. He walked closer to the passenger side.
"I'm walking." Obviously. HIs steely gray eyes were visible in the rain and for a moment, in my mind, it wasn't raining.
I shook my head.
"I can't let you, Its pouring." I started to raise my voice over the pounding of the rain. "Please." I sighed heavily.
He held my gaze nodding. We both climbed into the car. His soaked clothes are going to ruin the seats. I winced slightly thinking of how Warren Callahan would be upset. It's not like he would say anything to me anyways. He hasn't spoken to me since the hospital.
The radio hummed in the background. Aidan watched the woods pass throughout his window as we drove.
"Ada volunteers at the hospital. She read your file." He talked lowly. "I'm sorry."
Volunteers my ass. Ada doesn't seem like the type to care for anyone other than herself. I don't want to talk about that night. I saw it in my nightmares. That was enough. I especially didn't want to talk to Aidan about that.
Aidan, Aidan who?
"Whats your last name?" I glanced from the road to him. He seemed surprised by the question. I wanted a subject change.
"Rezso." He furrowed his eyebrows, I looked back to the road.
"Aidan Rezso." I said absently.
"Its been in the family for generations." Out of the corner of my eye I could see his leg start to bounce.
"Where do you live?" I mumbled.
"What?" I could feel his eyes on my face.
I laughed quietly. "I need to know where I should drop you off."
"Oh." His leg stopped bouncing. "Pennyfield lock road." I was surprised at which side of town he lived on.
We past great big houses with great big lawns. I imagined how long they would take to mow. We hire someone for our lawn. The trees started to cloud the road the farther we went down. I past a sign that was labeled DEAD END.
"Am I going the right way?" I stretch to look out my windshield more. Fog had appeared so quickly. I switch the high beams back to low.
You could get lost here. Maybe I should get lost. No one would know where to look for me out here.
"You think I don't know where my house is?" Aidan's lips lifted at the corners. The smile was barely there. I felt heat slowly creeped to my cheeks.
The road ended. I looked to him for advice.
"Turn left." He directed me as I pulled towards the left. I could barely see the turn.
The fog was clear in the driveway, Like it up and disappeared. I felt my eyebrows furrow. The gate was tall like it could reach into the trees. Two big lion headstones sat on either side.
The gate was in my way, Aidan didn't jump to open it like I figured he would. "Should I drop you off-"
The gate opened like clockwork when I started to ask if I should let him get out before the gate.
"You don't have to pull up." He started to get out.
"Why wouldn't I?" I started towards the house. I felt in awe as I noticed it wasn't a house. Or at least it didn't look like one. It looked like an old hotel with big windows to let in light. A brick hotel. The houses we passed were about the size of mine. Big, too big. But this brick hotel was too too big. How many people lived here?
"That's ridiculous." I mumbled to myself. Aidan looked at me while I stared at the 'house.'
"Thank you." I turned my head to meet his eyes. I kept getting lost there.
"Sure." I swallowed the lump in my throat.
A figure knocked on the window and I jumped slightly. I turned to see an attractive man with dark features. I rolled down the window.
"Hey there." He smiled. Perfect straight white teeth. The man reached and scratched the stubble on his face.
"Hi." I reached my hand out the window to shake his. "I'm Camille Callahan." His hand was warm when he returned the hand shake.
"Daniel Reszo." I smiled forcefully. I was used to introductions. Gallas taught me that.
"I'm Aidan's uncle." He glanced to Aidan tilted his head slightly.
"You have a wonderful home. It's amazing actually." I glanced at the brick hotel once more.
"Well it something thats for sure." Daniel leaned into the car slightly. "I would invite you in, but we have family staying for the week." He looked to the brick house gesturing with his hands about the people.
"That's alright. It's late tonight anyways." His eyes were a bright emerald green.
"It is late." He made eye contact with Aidan. Aidan was the first to break it looking down at his folded hands. The air started to feel heavy.
"Goodnight Camille Callahan." I nodded as Daniel started to walk away. I rolled up the window looking towards Aidan.
He started to get out of the car. "See you." I called after him. He nodded once.
"Goodnight to you too Camille." I said to myself taking the road out of the the driveway.
