Barry's Pov

So how does a hero get ready to ask out a guy who you met on a train after that man happens to be a guy from Brooklyn? Same as everyone I guess gotta build up the courage, find a perfect flower for the person, find the right words AND FIND A GOD DAMN RIGHT OUTFIT TO WEAR which I am having problems with right now. I was flashing between a bunch of outfits I have in my closest while blasting Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. I thought I found the perfect outfit and flashed downstairs for the 9th time but decided to flashback upstairs and put on a suit and flash  downstairs again while Joe who was annoyed with me was busy writing notes down

"If you change one more time I'm going to shoot you," He said and I rolled my eyes at him "Why are you even wearing a suit anyway all you're going to do is ask Steve out and who knows maybe he'll just want to go to the movies?" Joe asked so I decided to flashback upstairs and put on the red outfit that I decided not to go with and flash downstairs again and Joe had a gun in his hand

"I promise that is the last time I'm changing," I said and Joe laughed putting his gun away and stood up. He gave me a huge 'Papa Joe hug' 

"Now go and ask out Steve and make me proud," Joe said. I nodded and flashed out not gonna lie I am feeling very nervous what should I say to him? Does he even like me back? I mean I figure he might since we flirted last week when we were at the bar. I huffed a breath and ran past the flower shop, WAIT! FLOWERS! I came to a complete stop and ended up hitting a pole. I groaned in pain and in embarrassment. 

Steve's Pov

It has been a week since I started my own investigation into Dr. Wells. I have been doing research non-stop on Harrison Wells and whatever suspicious things I find I send off to Fury and he says there is something up with him since the beginning of the building of the Particle Accelerator. I saw a paper that talked about how he and his girlfriend were in a car wreck and his girlfriend died but Wells survive the crash, some people say that he started to have odd behavior then under related searches in CCPD database I went to the Allen home where Barry's mother died in came up. I was interested in how that showed up as well as Wells' accident. The only thing I can think of is going to that house and do my own investigation but I know it's been years and someone is already living there. I was broken out of my thoughts by the knock on my door. I stared at the door blankly and saw the time, it was almost 8:00. Just for safe measures, I decided to grab my shield and made my way to my door. I was about to open the door and get ready for Eobard to flash in but all I saw was a guy wearing a red jacket with perfect brunette hair. 

I sighed in relief realizing it was Barry, I quickly hid my shield and opened the door "Oh hey Barry what a surprise" I said 

"Uh Hi um Steve," Barry said nervously and was holding a rose which he handed to me 

"What's this?" I asked gladly taking the rose

"I..I was wondering if you would like to go out with me...like...a date," Barry said I looked at Barry frozen, unable to process what he just asked. My heart started to beat out of my chest he really did ask me out after all of those months of us hiding our true feelings  I smiled at him and was about to accept it when I realize I could put him in even more danger, my secret identity to the Wells investigation I couldn't get the image of Barry being held by Eobard. I looked down and my smile disappeared

"Barry I like you I really do but I came across something that Tony and I have been working on for weeks and I might have a lead...and it's dangerous I can't imagine you being put into danger because of what I'm doing," I said and Barry's smile disappeared and his shoulders fell like I broke his heart. It broke my heart seeing him heartbroken

"Well...it's a good thing I didn't dress up in that suit then," Barry said and sighed he looked at me again "I understand I get it I'm a forensic scientist I investigate murders that are linked with Gang wars and I am always afraid of putting my sister's life in danger Joe is like that too...if you want...we can just remain friends" Barry suggested still sounding heartbroken

"Or after I'm done with my investigation and put an end to whatever is happening then I'll ask you out myself," I said smiling slightly and Barry's eyes lit up 

"Y-yeah... I like that" he said and I smiled widely

"Wanna come in and have a couple of beers?" I asked him I know what I am doing is putting him in danger but all I ever want is to have a few moments alone with Barry Allen. 

"Uh-" barry trailed and was interrupted by his phone ringing and Barry scoffed "Uh hold on I need to take this it could be important," He said

"That's fine," I said and stood there which Barry shooed me back into my apartment I looked at him and decided to close the door. He is an odd fellow. I sighed and heard what sounded like a woosh of wind going away and coming back which gave me a weird look. I heard a knock again and opened the door and saw Barry put his phone away

"Okay I guess that wasn't important, it was Joe telling me 'use protection too' which I quickly hung up on" Barry babbled. I laughed at his adorableness and invited him into my apartment. We decided to talk and drink beers when Barry's phone went off again "OH COME ON!" Barry shouted in the middle of drinking beer. He went out again and took the call. I took a sip of my beer when I heard a chiming sound coming from my laptop. I went over there looking back at the door making sure Barry was still out there. I looked at the screen and got an email from Fury, he told me to go ahead and investigate the Allen home and if cops find out you broke a law come and contact me I'll be your lawyer. I took a breath and deleted the email just in time for Barry to walk back in

"Ugh sorry Steve I am just very popular today," Barry said

"It's fine," I said and closed my laptop. 

After a night of talking and drinking beers, Barry had to leave, it certainly wasn't a date but felt like one I knew it was wrong to decline the offer like I did but I am doing it for a reason and Barry understands he is technically a cop after all. I cleaned my apartment and decided to head to bed. Got a long day ahead of me tomorrow. 

~Next Morning~

Barry's Pov

I sat there in Jitters with my friends sulking I shouldn't be sulking why am I sulking? Clearly Steve has something he needed to take care of and wanted me out of it for 'safety' reasons I am technically doing the same to him so he doesn't know my identity but God damn was I looking forward to kissing Steve that night after the date. I sniffled which caught the attention of Caitlin and Cisco

"So...how was the date?" Cisco asked

"There...was...no date..steve said no," I said

"What!" I heard Iris yelling as she was approaching "Ex-fucking-cuse me?! He rejected you!" Iris shouted

"Yeah say it louder I am pretty sure everyone is interested in hearing me getting rejected from a cute ass guy and while you add it why not mention me being the flash," I said whispering the last part which caused Iris to hit the back of my head. I slammed my head on the table due to Iris's smack. Yes, Iris's smack is so hard it literally causes me to fall over and hit a random table, even though she's shorter than me she is still a pretty strong kick-ass woman. Iris then walked away

"Well, to be honest, I am glad you and Steve didn't at least take it to the next level" Cisco started

"Yippie," I said sarcastically still having my face on the table

"Well It is because I am afraid of you moving too fast," Cisco said and I looked at him which caused Cisco to hold in a laugh as he pointed to that I have a bruise on my forehead which I could care less about. 

"What do you mean? he rejected me there is no date" I said then placed my head on the table again because it felt comfortable for my sulking ass. 

"No, no, no I mean I meant going too fast, hurrying. Look, I mean, you're fast, but there's fast, and then there's fast. Am I being subtle enough?" Cisco asked

"No," I said at the same time Caitlin said yes

"Cisco's right. With your increased blood flow and increased heart rate, theoretically, your speed could cause you to..." Caitlin trailed which caused me to look up at her in confusion

"You're gonna need to think about a lot of dead puppies," Cisco said and I looked at him and started to pout, whoever thinks about dead puppies is sick in the head

"Wha..." I trailed

"Talking about the whole kennel," Cisco said and I started to tear up

"Okay no dead puppies, uh cold showers," Caitlin said and I looked at her 

"You know what? Nuns" Cisco said Why are they asking me to think about something that doesn't turn me ooh...I get it

"Like I said you guys there is no date," I said

"Well in case you ever think about...sticking your lightning rod in Ste-" Caitlin started which I completely cut her off

"No! not happening" I shouted. I was still sulking when I heard Cisco's phone ringing. He picked it up. I sighed still feeling down when I felt a coffee being set down on my table 

"It's on the house Barry," iris said 

"yay," I said sounding broken and grabbed the coffee and sipped it

"Hey I gotta go I gotta help a friend out," Cisco said and got up and left leaving me and Caitlin. I sat up and continue to drink my coffee in silence. Caitlin stared at me with concern in her eyes which was quickly interrupted by the news

'Quentin Quale was attacked near his lab at Concordance Research last night. There were several unsubstantiated reports of the so-called "Burning Man" in the area following the attacks.' The news reporter said which caught the attention of Caitlin, Iris and I

"Burning Man? Caitlin, weren't you asking about him a few weeks ago?" Iris asked. I looked at Caitlin and she looked at me with worry in her eyes.

Ever since Cisco told us what actually happened that night of Ronnie's death and explained that he merged with Professor Stein has got me thinking that Ronnie or Stein needs help. 

Steve's Pov

It was mid-afternoon and I decided to take a day off from work to continue my investigation I felt my phone buzz with text messages from Iris she seems pretty angry over what I said to Barry but I decided to ignore the messages, I drove up to the house that Barry's mother was murdered in, I remember watching a video of young barry Allen talking about how he saw something that night and the police didn't believe him. I looked at the house where I stood I can imagine the horrors that took place at night. Barry was only a kid when his mother was murdered. 

"Steve?" I heard a voice behind me. I turned and looked at Joe and Cisco. Oh no

"Detective West, What are you doing here?" I asked

"Investigating Barry's old childhood home, how about you?" Joe asked. At this moment I couldn't come up with a lying excuse as to why I was here. Telling them the truth will put them in danger but it seems to me they are out for the same thing. 

"Same as you, Detective, I am here to find Barry's mother killer and bring him to justice," I said and Joe looked at Cisco then at me

"Is that why you rejected Barry? The poor man was moping around at Jitters" Cisco asked and I nodded 

"He can't know that I am investigating this, this could put him in danger as it did to Pepper," I said

"Pepper? Tony's girl?" Cisco asked. I looked down

"I haven't been particularly honest with any of you truth I am C-" I started and was about to reveal my identity when Joe interrupted me

"Later, it took me a while to get a search warrant from my captain I want to hurry up and use it before it's too late," Joe said and I nodded

"Okay," I said and followed them to the house. Joe knocked on the door 

"You know Joe, Caitlin and Dr. Wells should be on this" Cisco said

"No I want to keep this between us," Joe said gesturing to me and to Cisco 

"Then why call me?" Cisco asked

"Because you could apply your technical expertise and help me prove who really did it," Joe said and Cisco nodded. A woman opened the door "Hello, ma'am. I'm Detective West. This is Cisco Ramon and Steve Rogers" Joe said

"Hello I am Sherry like the drink" The woman, Sherry replied winking at Joe. "What can I do for you, Detective?" She asked

"I don't know if you were aware, but there was a homicide in this residence approximately 15 years ago," Joe said

"Oh I know about it," She said

"We've reopened the investigation. Do you mind if we come in and take another look around?" Joe asked and the woman smiled

"Oh not at all please come on," Sherry said and stepped aside for us to walk in. I walked into the house that Barry once lived, it was a nice home. It's sad that this home that was once filled with happiness and sweet memories became death and sadness...almost forgotten. 

"Do you live alone?" Joe asked Sherry

"Yes, I'm divorced," She said. I went inside the main room which was the living room I stood by the door and Joe looked at me 

"You are standing in the exact same spot Barry was 15 years ago," Joe said. I looked at him 

"I remember Director Fury gave Tony and me a mission to stop the..person who killed Barry's mother," I said looking around, Cisco was scanning the area with his machine he brought it. 

"Question" Joe said I looked at him "What does this Fury man want with the killer?" He asked. I don't remember Fury telling me but I remember when he called me at the hospital telling me that the explosion wasn't normal 

"He told me that the accelerator explosion wasn't a normal explosion and that there is something up with Wells, I didn't want to believe him thinking that his old age finally caught up to him and is going insane but Tony...he is the smartest person I ever know in the team and now it is making me wonder," I said whispering slightly so Cisco won't eavesdrop especially since he works with him and I don't know if he is one of his actual minions. Joe nodded as he agrees with me

"Not gonna lie I have been investigating Wells as well... it's just that there is something about him that makes me question him especially after the car accident" He said I looked at him

If I knew Joe was investigating Wells as well I would've gone to him and this investigation would've been taken care of weeks ago, no Stark involvement.

Barry's Pov

Caitlin and I hurried back to S.T.A.R. Labs after hearing about Ronnie/Stein's attack. We sat there and looked at the profile of The Burning Man thinking about how we should approach him. I found out I actually met Martin Stein on the train when I was coming from Starling City that was also the day...Steve and I met. I looked down remembering that day. We decided to go to Professor Stein's wife. I looked around the room while Dr. Wells and Caitlin were asking questions

"The Conway Prize for Scientific Advancement," I said reading the title of an award Stein won

"Martin was very proud of that one" Stein's wife, Clarissa replied with a smile. Dr. Wells came closer to the award

"I'd always hoped to win one of these" Dr. Wells said looking at the award

"Oh look at that he won it...3 times," I said sounding impressed which caused Dr. Wells to sigh in jealously. 

"Takes a special kind of person to make Dr. Wells jealous," I said smiling at him. Caitlin went back to asking Clarissa some questions and I showed off a picture of Ronnie. Clarissa then explained a month after the exploded she saw Ronnie. Dr. Wells, Caitlin and I went outside to gather what we got

"So it appears Martin Stein and Ronnie Raymond have something in common besides sharing a body. They both feel the need to protect the women they love." Dr. Wells said

" Clarissa said she feels like she's being watched. Well, then, this has all the makings of a stakeout." Caitlin said

"Great I guess I'll join you," I said both Dr. Wells and Caitlin looked at me

"What? I don't have any plans certainly don't have a date tonight so" I said

"Actually Mr. Allen it is best that you sit out for a little while if Ronnie sees you in your suit he'll freak out  and possibly hurt Clarissa, just caused he killed one of his old classmates it could mean he doesn't have full control of his powers," Dr. Wells said and I sighed but nodded anyway because it sounded like a good plan

"If we need you here, something tells me we can get you back in a hurry." Dr. Wells said smiling. 

Steve's Pov (going back and forth between povs I am sorry everyone)

It has been almost an hour of investigating this old home and so far we have found nothing. Cisco had tried different types of tech he has with him but still isn't picking up. I decided to help Cisco by using some of his techs to scan the floor for any lightning marks and I too wasn't picking up anything.  

"I'm not picking up anything. Not even with The Super Light." Cisco said scanning the wall

"Super Light?" I asked him

"Well, technically it's a multi-spectrum, violet laser-enhanced scanner that detects molecular schisms in the 600 mega-volt range, but I figured "Super Light" was easier to say," Cisco explained which I have no idea what any of that means but I played along

"Right, but what does it tell you?" Joe asked

"Nothing, we didn't already know about that night," Cisco said sighing. I stood up and went to him. 

"Okay, Barry's mother's body was found here, knife beside her, blood spatter on the wall belonged to Nora." Joe describe the gruesome scene

"Detective West, I think... I just think maybe it's been too long, and everything's different" I said looking at him

"Except that mirror" Joe pointed out at the mirror I was standing by "Sherry must have bought it at the estate sale." He said and Cisco scanned the mirror

"Oh my god, Silver Nitrate"  Cisco said and Joe gave Cisco a weird look like he didn't know what he was talking about, now it is time to get vintage science-y 

"The compound used in photography. It was often used to back vintage mirrors. Basically, If there were two speedsters there that night, the sparks from their movement would have generated enough flashes to actually expose images onto the silver nitrate."I explained which cause Joe to grin thinking that it was a lead to solving the case and Cisco gave me a look like he was impressed.

"You are saying what I think you're saying?" Joe asked. I looked at the mirror closely

"This mirror might contain photographs of what actually happened that night," I said I felt my phone buzz, I looked at it and saw that barry was calling, I sighed to myself and excuse myself from the group and went outside. I stared at my phone thinking if I should answer or not. Since we found a possible lead I don't want Barry to find out and want to get involved and get hurt. I took a deep breath and did something I am going to regret forever. I clicked 'ignored' on the call and the call hung up. 

I am sorry Barry but this is for your own good.

Barry's Pov

I was sitting in the living room at home blasting Sam Smith and continued to sulk. I looked at my phone waiting for any 911 text messages from Caitlin or Iris because I know Iris is dealing with another paper that she might need help writing. I looked through my contacts when I came across Steve's name, I was desperate to call him, I just want to hear his voice, his gentle deep voice that reminds me a lot about Captain America who I haven't seen at all last night when I had my non-date interrupted twice, one interruption was to capture robbers that Cisco called me about then another that Joe called about a man about to commit suicide. I guess Captain America decided to call a night off since Central City is pretty quiet today surprise, surprise, I took a deep breath and decided to call Steve.

The call kept ringing and ringing. My heart was beating out of my chest just hearing his voice makes my heart beat fast, faster than my speed. I continue to wait until I heard the call end. I froze in my place not moving, I looked at my phone and found out that he hung up on me I sat there tears streaming down my face, he has never hung up on me before no matter what time of day it was if one of us called we would pick up. I threw my phone across the room in anger and prayed that the phone didn't break because I was expecting Caitlin or Dr. Wells to text. I placed my hand over my mouth and let tears fall

I heard my phone buzzed all the way towards the wall where I threw it at. I flashed over there and looked at it surprise to see that my phone was still working. I saw a text from Caitlin that read 'F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M' I instantly ran out of the house and on the street Dr. Wells and Caitlin were on and saw Ronnie..or Stein I should say

"Professor Stein!" I yelled getting his attention. Stein turned to me "Hey, I'm not here to hurt you, and I know you don't want to hurt anyone else, so if you could just not..." I said trying to get to Stein but it didn't work "Flame on" I said and saw Stein flame on. I decided to flash towards him which was a bad idea because he grabbed me and flew up in the air. He was flying pretty high I took a deep breath trying not to think about the fact that Stein could let me go at any time. Stein stopped in mid-air hearing Caitlin shout 'No' Stein then releases his grip on me and I started to fall.

Falling very fast, I closed my eyes thinking that it was the end, I took a huge breath and had tears still streaming down my face when I saw Steve in my mind. At least I will die with him in my mind...

CLIFFHANGER HAHAHA yes I just did that and no I am not crying over that part okay my eyes are sweaty from all the staring at the computer while typing and plus I was listening to BTS and it's their anniversary- okay yes I was crying*whips tears*
