Five: Tiresome
I walk through the forest quietly.
"There she is!" I hear a familiar voice say. I turn around, only to be crushed in a hug from my oldest brother Kankuro.
"Let her breath!" Temari yells at him. He quickly lets me go. I cough and only have a small amount of time to breath, because Temari catches me in a hug. She lets go and Gaara appears.
He lets me hug him, but does nothing to respond. I don't mind though, as I stand on my tippy-toes and wrap my arms around his neck. "How've you been?" Temari asks as we sit in the grass.
"Well, I did graduate," I grin. They congradulate me.
"So who's on your team?" Kankuro asks. I tell them all about Kiko and Jenko, and how old Turishiko is. I add on all of the other stuff that has happened recently, leaving out Shika very carefully.
"So who's the dude with the pony tail?" Temari asks. My eyes widen and I swallow hard.
"Um, why?" I question.
"I don't know, he's kinda cute and I thought he might have been your boyfriend," she smirks. I glare at her, as does Gaara and Kankuro. Aaahh, older brothers are so protective sometimes.
"Na, he's not my boyfriend. He's just a friend," I say, looking away. Then I frown in realisation. "Were you watching me?" I ask.
Kankuro and Temari look guilty, wheras Gaara just says, "Yes."
I smile and pull some grass up. Before, I had so many questions for them. Now it seems I only want to sit in silence, like some siblings actually can.
"How's home?" I ask softly.
"Well, Dad's as evasive as ever," Tem admits.
"But things are still good."
I continue to talk to them, for a while at least. Eventually they have to leave. I hug them goodbye again.
As I walk back home, I can't help but think that if the opportunity ever arises; if I ever get the chance to return to the Land of Wind.
I may not go. I Konoha not my home?
~One Month Later~
I sigh heavily and collapse on my couch. Thirty-six missions. That's right; thirty six of them over the past month. Kiko, Jenko and I have been attacked by cats, old women, dogs, and eachother because we've been so grumpy at stupid D ranked missions.
Slowly, I eat my barbecue pork we are having for dinner. "It'll get better soon; I promise," Neyo and Jikei kept saying. I just wave them off.
The next day, I wake up expecting the exact same outcome; D ranks, ramen with the team, walk home with Shika.
Not wanting to get up, I throw my alarm clock out of the window and scream "Die!" I'm guessing Shima had opened the window this morning.
"Ow!" I hear someone yell outside.
Feeling guilty that I ay have hit someone, I peak out the window to see Kiba, Akamaru, and Shino. "Sorry Kiba!" I yell.
"It's cool Tai," he calls back. I give a closed-eyed smile. "Well, have a good day!"
"You too," he replies.
I waved and he does too. "I love you Shino!!" I add on, which Shino is used to. He just looks up at me, and waves slightly, before shoving his hands back in his pockets. I grin and close my window.
After I had a shower, I get dressed in my ninja uniform, and walk out of my bedroom. "We must fight to the death-"
"NO," I say straight out to Tano.
I slide down the banister and land flat on my feet. I have breakfast, grab my weapons and skip out the door. I walk slowly to the water fall Gama makes us meet at.
Eventually, Kiko and Jenko join me. "Another D rank, I'm going puke," I say. They hum or nod in agreement.
We finally make it to the clearing, to see Gama, sitting on a cloud as usual.
"Sensei," I begin. He nods slightly. "I-...We were wondering if we could get a...non-D ranked misson," I say. He chuckles.
"I was waiting for that question," he grins. What does he mean he was waiting?
"Um, what?" Kiko questions.
"Knowitall, Fat Cake, Purple. Tell me, how many D ranked missions have we done?"
"Thirty-six," we all groan. Sensei grins. "Today, make it to forty, and I shall talk to lord Hokage about a C ranked massion."
We all grin excitedly, and I feel a jolt of determination run through me.
"OK, let's go to the Hokage tower now!"
~*~
The tree drops the last apple in my hand under my command. "And that, is how you complete, your 37th D rank," I grin, high-fiving Jenko.
The thirty-eighth D rank is given to us. "Escort Iruka Sensei's new students to their training grounds," Kiko reads. "But, they're annoying little brats! That should be A ra-" I slap my hand over Kiko's mouth.
"Good bye, Lord Hokage-sama," I smile sweetly, following Gama out of the room.
Once we are a few metres away from the door, I slaps Kiko in the head. "Ow!" He exclaimes.
"You idiot! The Honourable Grandson is in Iruka's class!" I scold him. "Not to mention my Otoutou!" Kiko gulps and tenses. Jenko rolls his eyes and sighs, sick of Kiko's stupidity.
We walked into Iruka's classroom. It's full of excited chatting students. Iruka smiles and gestured for us to come forward.
"Class, these ninja are previous students of mine. Jenko Tamadotchi, Kiko Hamijana, and Taihana Miroku," he announces.
When Iruka says my last name, people look at Tano, who sits in-between Moegi and Konohamaru. Moegi does not seem to happy about that. "Yes, I'm Tano's sister," I sighed.
It takes mere minutes for Jenko and I to realise something; Kiko? He was right. These children are a nightmare-ish pain.
"I'm tired!!"
"Your walking to fast!!"
"He shoved me!!"
"She kicked me!!"
"Go away!!"
I try to block them out, which does some justice.
"I need to go to the toilet!!"
My eyes meet Jenko's. "Kiko!" We both call out.
