27. He is an asshole

Hunter: I miss you.

Karishma: I miss you more.

Hunter: when can I see you?

Karishma: maybe right after class if you aren't busy?

Hunter: I could spare 15 mins before my next lecture...

Karishma: that's good enough, considering we haven't had time to be around each other with how busy we both are.

Hunter: I know, I will make time for us.

Karishma: I know...

Hunter: look at me

Karishma: why lol?

Hunter: I just want to stare at your face without you looking down.

Karishma: you do realize we're in a room full of people? I can't be sharing eye contact with my professor that would be weird.

Hunter: hey! I thought I was your boyfriend.

Karishma: not anymore ;)

Hunter: you used me 😭

Karishma: yeah it was nice

Hunter: me or my dick?

Karishma: both

Karishma: it was really nice

Hunter: yeah it was

Karishma: I wish I could sit on your lap

Briefly looking around, Hunter smiled luckily he caught her eyes amongst the crowd of students. They immediately broke eye contact when they realized they were doing it again. Karishma could not stop thinking about it; about them together. She tried to not give it too much emotion knowing where that would lead to but what if it was already there. What if she was already head over heels in love with him. He stood slightly leaned over a desk, typing something before sliding his phone in the back pocket of his black slacks. He continued on to explain the next slide on the projector. Karishma had this stupid grin on her face the whole time. She watched the way he spoke, his body language; the way he looked at her from time to time. His jaw clenched to perfection. He was good at his job, there was never a student who could call him boring or annoying. He knew how to catch a young person's attention. He knew how to make everything entertaining for those with a short attention span. She had a short attention span only because she often thought about how they had moved to the next level of their relationship and had sex. It might not have been a big deal to someone else but it meant a lot to her.

Hunter: you can if you're wearing a skirt

Karishma: what would I be sitting on?

Hunter: idk you tell me

Karishma: idk lol

Hunter: squeeze your thighs together

Karishma: not here

Hunter: I have a limited amount of time 15 mins, I need to warm you up.

Karishma: pls stop ☺️

Hunter: stop what?

Karishma: looking at me, look around do something that won't make it too obvious.

Hunter: well frankly I enjoy looking at you...

Karishma: I have no option but to look at you. that's the difference

Hunter: bec you love me?

Karishma: no dummy, bec I need to pay attention to what my professor is saying.

Karishma, was flustered for a bit. Was it obvious? Did she love him... no she didn't. She didn't want to believe it either. She couldn't love him, it was too early but then again at what time do people fall inlove? She often found herself thinking about him, fantasizing about him. Would he marry her? If he did would she move to the USA permanently; probably because Hunter settling for a South African lifestyle would prove to be difficult. Did he even know what was loadshedding? He had a habit of leaving his phone and wallet out front in the car, so upfront it could be seen from the dashboard. The crime rate and Hunter's carelessness just wouldn't work. But wait, did Hunter even want to marry again? After going through such a divorce. Would his daughter like Karishma or hate her like her mother does. What would people say... about where they met..? What would his family say? Did they like people of color...? Did Hunter want more kids? She did, hopefully he did too. Would Hunter— she was thinking too far. Karishma had a special talent of overthinking and most of the time, it never worked in her favor. Looking up from her phone, she looked up and her eyes immediately met his. Her heart fluttered pleasantly. He had this smile that made her feel like all these weird thing. With her last boyfriend, yes she loved him but she never felt this extent— wait had she admitted to herself that she loved Hunter— no. Karishma immediately dismissed the thoughts. He was in a process of leaving a marriage to someone whom he had assumed he would spend the rest of his life with. She couldn't be too pushy or have too many expectations. He probably wanted to relax and take it slow this time. She didn't want to be the next divorcée.

Hunter: ouch so you don't love me?

Karishma: uhm... am I suppose to? 😂

Hunter: idk 🙍🏻‍♂️ I mean since we kinda did the deed, isn't that suppose to change things.

Karishma: you call it the deed, cute Hunter, very cute.

Hunter: What is it called then? I'm used to PG13

Karishma: right for your daughter?

Suddenly it was awkward.

Hunter: yeah

Karishma: cute

She didn't want to ask and be pushy. If he ever wanted to tell her about his marriage and kid then he would. She didn't want to be forceful in getting information.

Hunter: are you trying to carry my second child?

Karishma: lol nope, no.

Hunter: why not? I thought I had pretty decent genes.

Karishma: Do you actually realize what you're initiating?

Hunter: yes, you don't want kids?

Karishma: get your divorce settled then you can ask me that again.

Hunter: right

Karishma: yes.

Hunter: 🙂

Karishma: you do realize I'm looking at you rn and you aren't smiling...

Hunter then looked up from his phone and let out a forced smile. No one was really paying enough attention to see what was happening.

Karishma: wow I'm really getting the impression, I pissed you off 🙄 by talking about divorcing your wife. You said you wanted to divorce her, I'm just checking in on what's going on since you never mention it. I get anxious that you're using me and this is all I'm good for. If that's the case just say so... we've only had sex once and I'm pretty sure we could move past this and be civil with each other. It shouldn't be a big deal.

But it was, at-least to her. She just had to keep up her facade of not caring enough.

"No texting in my class, Miss Naidoo." Hunter said abruptly after reading the first part of her message. He knew she had more to say. He wasn't ready to hear it. Everyone turned to look at Karishma who slid her phone down and muttered a 'sorry' under her breath.

"He is such a hypocrite... telling you to stop texting when he was just texting the whole time and being distracted." Adhira hissed at her.

"I know right." Karishma whispered mouthing word for word while looking at Hunter from afar. "He is an asshole." Out of impulse and anger she quickly typed.

Karishma: pls leave me alone, I think this isn't working.

Hunter: okay.

Karishma was expecting more than just an okay. So this just proved to her that he only wanted to get in her pants? He was using her the whole time. He didn't care if she broke it off. Okay? Okay? Okay? of all things to say, he said okay. He didn't care? It meant nothing to him? Okay? Just okay? Everything is okay.

Karishma: is that all you have to say?

"Miss Naidoo, Do you have trouble adhering to my rules?" He said out loud.

Karishma huffed, upset and triggered; grabbing her phone, keys, water bottle and laptop bag. She left. Giving him attitude as she walked past him. He had not expected her to respond that way but to be fair if he was going to act like a professor then she would act like a student.
