3. new home

Keni

"Passengers, we will be landing in Incheon Airport very soon," One of the stewardess announces through the microphone from the front. Then another voice announced the same thing, but in Korean. I sighed when I realized that my Korean is a little rusty since it's been 8 years when I left Seoul with my parents to live in LA, but at least, I still remember my Hangul. I hope that its enough for now since I still need to get used to the new changes... My fresh start.

15 minutes later

I got up from my seat next to the window and pulled my suitcase out of the compartment above my head. After waiting for the passengers from the front to get off the airplane, I started to move while pulling my suitcase behind me. Once I got out of the airplane and into a tunnel that will lead me to the inside of the building of Incheon Airport, I remembered a few things back then when I was 8 years old and wondered how many things changed in Seoul. I checked in through one of the offices and walked towards the departure area where I will be meeting my Aunt Rina, who I haven't seen in such a long time. I walked around the area for the next 37 minutes and then I heard someone calling for me.

"KENI-AH!" A familiar voice of a woman calls out as I passed by the waiting place.

I faced the woman, who called for me, and softly smiled when I see that it's my Aunt Rina. Then I quickly walked over towards her with my suitcase behind me and stopped right in front of her. "Aunt Rina, he- I mean, annyeonghaseyeo!" I greeted, then bit my lip when I almost said the word, hello.

My auntie, who is in her early 40s smiles and laughs at me. "Aigoo! It's fine if you said hello, I am not like how your uncle, who used to act irritated towards people who speaks English back then," She honestly told me. Then adds in, "I wouldn't mind listening to my beautiful, smart niece's English."

"Ah! Ani, I should start speaking in Korean since I'll be staying here for awhile," I exclaimed and got another warm smile from Aunt Rina.

That's when I realized how she resembles my own mother due to her warm smile and gentle voice. They really are like twins, not identical, but fraternal, and even when 8 years passed, I still find it weird that my mother has a twin sister. After a minute of hugging, Aunt Rina and I took a taxi cab back to her place and I got to have a quick tour of some parts of Seoul as I looked outside my side of the window. It only took 16 minutes to get to the house that now belongs to my auntie and her only son, my older cousin, who is by the way a member of BTS. I've never mentioned it to anyone, not even to Officer Ho- I mean, Eric, since it's nothing big... Okay, it is big, but not to me. Plus, I am not the type of person that likes to share such good juices about my family.

"Welcome back home, sweetie!" Aunt Rina announces when we got out of the taxi cab and entered a big .

I can so imagine Hoseok buying this place just for him and his mother since I remembered that silly promise of his to buy such a big house for his family, but I never thought that it'd be this kind of house. Aunt Rina helps me with carrying my suitcase up the front steps of the house and then she opens the door and we both walked inside. I looked around and saw how modern the looks like.

"Do you like it?" Somene asked and brings me back to reality.

I turned around to see my older cousin wearing a red-and-black scarf around his long neck and a round-lens glasses. "Keni, it's been too long. Did you miss me?" Jung Hoseok said as he happily smiles at me.

I smirked and teased him, "If I say, no, what will you do?"

Hoseok chuckles and answers with a wink, "Then I'll make you miss me."

"Ew, oppa, just ew," I exclaimed as rubbed my arms since I started to feel a bit cold. Then I asked out of nowhere, "Um, did you purposely made it cold in here?"

"Hmm, why? Do you feel cold right now?" He asked as he gets the remote for the air conditioner in the living room, Then I nodded and saw Aunt Rina walking towards us after returning back from upstairs. "You're room is ready!" She said excitedly and takes my hand, then pulls me up the stairs to the second floor.

Hoseok followed us while whistling to one of his group's songs, No More Dream. Then Aunt Rina stopped walking as we finally reached a plain white door down the hallway. "This here is the door to your bedroom. I hope you like it."

I smiled nervously as I opened the door slowly and then I gasped when I saw my new . Then I faced Aunt Rina and Hoseok. "Thank you," I told them honestly as I tried not to cry.

Hoseok grins while his mother hugs me again. Then she pulls away and said, "I'll be making some snacks. Come back downstairs when you're done, okay?" Hoseok and I both nodded, and Aunt Rina left.

"So, do you really like it, Keni?" Hoseok asked as we both walked inside and lied down on my new bed. I faced him and smiled softly. "I don't like it... I love it!"

"Good because starting from today, this house will be your new home," He slowly said with another one of his happy smiles. Then we both stopped talking and faced the white ceiling above us. After a few minutes before my older cousin and I left my bedroom, I thought to myself quietly, "...I do missed you, Hobi."
