Chapter 4 || Her Background
"Goddess of the Soccer Field."
Her story was an unlike for a child to experience, yet that was the caused that Kawaguchi Chieko grew to become as who she is today. She could only look at the present and never to her miserable past.
Meeting Yuuto and Haruna was a pleasant memory to Chieko, they were one of the few who actually did not recognized her as somebody who was bound to a destined future until a few years. It was nice knowing she could act like some girl who just loves soccer.
Her parents were the reason why she was here, standing on the soccer field. They were supportive of her, always encouraging her to always do whatever she loves despite her hobbies being considered a hindrance to her hectic everyday schedule that was set-up by her own grandmother, who was the matriarch in her family ever since her grandfather had vanished from existence. Her top most priority was to become the best heiress of the family's company. There was no excuse, unless it was to be passed down to her younger sister.
"I cannot let her suffer," she told her parents who were concern for her.
Her grandmother was demanding a concrete and reasonable reason for whatever her parents did, and that was giving her the freedom that she was supposed to have as a child.
Soccer was the reason why she met Yuuto and Haruna.
Getting lost on an unknown playground that was quite far from the household was her aim, but she never suspected to run as far as this that she had no idea where she was. A few untamed grasses tickled her ankles and it made her feel as if she was free. Unknown to her, there were two other children who was eyeing her in wonder.
"Is she new here, onii-chan?" The blue-haired girl tucked at the little boy's shirt sleeve. The boy was staring at the same girl. He shrugged and held his sister's tiny hand while walking up to the other girl who was enjoying the fresh air.
The green eyed girl finally noticed the two kids and was shocked and embarrassed at the way she acted. She never looked this carefree in front of just anybody, especially people who were mere strangers to her. She managed to give them a big grin while waving.
"Hello!" she beamed. The two siblings looked at each other before speaking.
"Who are you?" pointed the blue haired girl to the raven haired girl.
"My name is Kawaguchi Chieko! How about you guys?" she looked at the both of them with anticipating eyes.
'Acting like a child felt so nice!' Chieko thought with a warm feeling inside her little heart.
"My name's Yuuto while she's Haruna," he introduced for the both of them. Chieko could not help but grab for the both of them for a hug, making them jolted out in surprise. She felt heir shock through her hug and immediately met them go with an apologetic smile accompanying.
"I-I assume I made you uncomfortable, I'm sorry," she said while bowing a few times that caused the siblings to fuss.
"N-No! we were just surprised!" Chieko sighed in relief while laughing nervously.
"It's just that I don't meet a lot of people like you guys," she explained.
"Don't you have friends? You look like you're somebody who has lots of them!" Haruna exclaimed cheerfully. Chieko shook her head and smiled sadly.
"I don't but that's alright! I was able to meet you guys after all, can we be friends?" they did not hesitate to even accept her, bringing joy to Chieko's heart.
"Do you guys know how to play soccer?" mentioning this, Yuuto eventually noticed the ball that was behind Chieko's legs. He nodded and looked at Haruna who was smiling shyly.
"I'm not very good at it though..." Chieko giggled and gave a thumbs-up.
"That doesn't matter! As long as you want to play soccer, that should do!"
They enjoyed stealing the ball from one another, shooting the goal as if they were in some international tournament. The game ended up with Haruna being the winner. She was like a bundle of joy, jumping up and down because she won against two persons who were better than her.
"I'm pretty sure you just let her win," Chieko whispered to Yuuto who only smiled back in return.
"I'm happy to see her this happy," the two siblings reminded her of her own sibling who always wanted to win against her. Something vibrated on Chieko's wrist, she looked over to see her watch already alarming her for her time limit.
"I-I need to go-"
"But Chieko-chan! It's still early!" Haruna whined while frowning.
"Yeah, it's still early, can't you stay longer?" her gaze changed to Yuuto who was frowning like his younger sister. She awkwardly chuckled and shook her head.
"I-I can't...how about some other time? I-I-" she looked away that caused Haruna and Yuuto to become confused.
"I swear I'll be back as fast possible," she smiled apologetically before leaving quickly, not even bidding them a goodbye.
She eventually met Kageyama Reiji who was recommended by her parents to help her improve her soccer.
"Huh? Kageyama Reiji-san...?" a seven year old Chieko asked in confusion. She could feel his aura that made her terrified at first.
"Yes Chieko, from now on, he will be your mentor," her father said. Her negative thoughts eventually dispersed quickly. She was invaded my excitement. She beamed and grinned widely.
"Really, Kageyama-san? You're really going to help me improve soccer!?" Kageyama crouched down to her height and placed a hand over her head, a soft smile carved on his face.
"Of course."
"Y-Yuu-kun!?"
"Chi-chan!?"
the two seven year old boy and girl gasped seeing each other on the same field.
"So you knew each other then? That would be good," their commander said. Yuuto gazed at Chieko with a wide smile,
"I never knew that you'll be here too! I-I mean, I thought we were only going to meet on the same field back there. Were you also recommended?" Chieko stared at him with questioning eyes.
"What do you mean, Yuu-kun?"
"She wasn't. Now," he gave each one of them bright orange cones that were less than a head taller than them. As quick as their little feet could bring them, they lined them all up, a gap for a player to go through.
"Let's start," he gave them a soccer ball of their own and they began as they were commanded to. It was to train their dribbling ability and their agility at the same time.
"Don't lose concentration of the cones, the surroundings and the ball!" yelled out a reminder of their new mentor. They went side to side, going in and out of the gaps of the cone they made, dribbling the ball with full concentration.
"Ack!" Chieko gasped when she fell down, her ball sliding next to her.
"Get up, Kawaguchi!"
"Y-yes sir!" she got up with her tiny legs wobbling. She looked at Yuuto who was focused on the task.
'I shouldn't disappoint commander in my first day!' She stood up firm and continued again.
"Get up, Kidou!" she saw Yuuto with the corner of her eyes, a concern look hovered over her. She saw Yuuto standing up and continued with a troubled look.
"Concentrate more, Kawaguchi!" Chieko did as she was told.
The thought of being swallowed up by his darkness made her shiver, but she was unaware her friend already fell into it.
Kageyama knew too much about soccer to hate it after all.
'He still has love for soccer, he still has love for soccer, he still love soccer,' she kept on insisting in her mind.
Eventually, she was deemed to be a somewhat potential yet a threat so she was transported to somewhere that had caused her despair.
She did not remember how she even fell. She did not notice that she was tricked. In the Ideal World that the mastermind created caused the others to fall into darkness.
Imperfection is a disgrace.
Winning is the only goal needed, even if it was earned through dirty plays and tricks.
How could she even fall?
