Chapter 37: Confrontation
Izuku almost fell over, looking at that familiar wrinkled face as if he had just seen a ghost. He was gripping onto the iron bars of the window tightly now, his bottom lip in the gap between his two rows of teeth. At this point, his palms were sweaty, which forced himself to wipe them on the sides of his pants ever so constantly.
Shoto looked up at the greenette, wondering about what exactly he was doing. He whispered, just loud enough for the other male to hear, "Tomura Shigaraki?"
The knight didn't respond. His gaze was fixated on the inside of the prison.
Taking this as him not being able to hear him, the prince pulled at Izuku's leg, trying to grab his attention. However, Izuku began to topple over, his grip slipping from the bars.
"W-woah!!" He fell over onto his back with a loud 'THUD'. "Owww... Shoto..."
Shoto made a sharp inhale, immediately turning around with a worried look on his face. He started to pick him up as he spoke, "Izuku I'm so sorry, are you—"
His sentence was cut off by a groan from the inside of the building. Then, the sound of walking, just before there was a vibration that shook the stone. There was a sigh, then, finally, words. "Your fucking friends are delusional. You know, if they really wanted to infiltrate this prison, they would have done a much better job keeping themselves quiet, don't you think?"
The voice of a female stuttered, struggling to find the right words to follow up with. "H-Huh? Wh-what are you talking about??"
"Your friends. They're here, aren't they??" Tomura hissed at Ochako, his stone gaze unmoved.
The brunette looked around, not quite understanding what he was on about. She fiddled with her hat more, scrunching it up for support. "I don't know what you're talking about. The only people who are here are you and me."
Tomura pointed a finger at her. He wasn't messing around, so he just decided the best course of action from this point on. Something that would piss someone off so much, they'll practically come out on their own.
He raised his voice, loud enough for those outside the prison to hear. "Don't play dumb. You know full well that your squad is the type to come running after you. Especially that incompetent, that worthless, that small, annoying, skilless, good for nothing, piece of trash, Izuku Midoriya."
Now, that insult hardly affected Izuku, especially since he was so used to hearing words like that, especially to his face (thanks to a certain ash blonde male). He only looked to his side, rubbing it off as just another comment.
Shoto, on the other hand, absolutely hated the insults thrown Izuku's way. Now, this was where he got overprotective. Was it a good thing? For Tomura? Maybe. For the prince and the knight? No. Definitely not.
"Bastard." The dual colored male grumbled, grabbing Izuku tightly by his wrist. He stomped off towards the entrance in a rush, dragging the greenette over with him.
This caused Izuku to freak out, trying to break the prince's monster grip. "Sh-Shoto! What are you doing??"
Without looking over at him, Shoto turned the corner, his strides becoming longer. Izuku's legs were significantly shorter, so he almost tripped because of this. "I'm going to confront the bastard."
"This wasn't part of the plan! Please, it's okay, I get talked down on all the time! Please, just stick to what we're supposed to do! Shoto!" He was practically yelling at him, but to no avail.
"That's my fucking point. No one talks down on my Izuku."
Izuku completely ignored that statement, still trying to halt him. "Don't let Shigaraki manipulate you! He wants you to go in there! It's not safe! Please, I don't want you hurt, don't do this!"
It was too late. Shoto kicked down the door, the light in the prison slightly illuminating his face.
Tomura smirked with delight, jerking his head in the direction of the pissed off prince. "How amusing. You really did come." The grin that graced his lips made the scar through them become more noticeable.
Izuku gulped. He didn't think he'd be staring face to face with this guy again. Yet here he was, lip quivering and legs shaking. "Shoto Shoto Shoto Shoto..." He was pulling at the prince's arm, trying to get him to turn back.
"Your boyfriend's scared of me, Prince Shoto. Come on, you should know by now that Midoriya would know right when danger is approaching." He turned to Izuku and waved as if to act friendly.
The greenette looked at him, starting to shuffle behind the taller male. His words turned into nothing more than small whispers. "Shoto please... you're everything to me... just turn around..."
"That's no way to treat an old friend. Come on, let's talk it out, why don't we?" Tomura used one finger to motion for both males to come over and join him, just before he went to go lay his hands down on the table in the middle of the room.
Neither the prince or the knight flinched. Shoto, although ready to kick the white haired male's ass, had decided to take a look around the complex first. There were three cells. One illuminated, that one had Ochako sitting on the ground. The second was dark, only a feeling of a shadow of some sorts sitting on the inside. The third and furthest had broken cell bars, twisted and bent through like bendable pipe cleaners.
This place was eerie, and sent a horrible feeling down Shoto's spine. Especially that second cell. It was a familiar feeling that he loathed but proceeded to ignore, it wasn't like staring was going to fix anything.
The prince joined Tomura in the middle of the room, letting Izuku take a seat. Izuku was hesitant, but at least this was better than a fight ensuing. He watched as Shoto's hands we placed on his shoulders, this time his touch becoming gentle, yet somewhat stressed.
He seemed pleased that they actually complied, and walked to the other end of the complex. There, he took two mugs, filled them with some sort of hot light brown liquid, and placed them back on the table in front of the two teens.
Izuku looked curiously into the mug. The steam blew it his face, sniffing the brown liquid as if trying to decide what to call it. He was having trouble identifying the smell, the area outside messing with his sense of smell. His first instinct was to assume, so he started to slowly push the mug away, "I don't drink coffee, I don't like the taste in my mouth."
"Nonsense. It's hot chocolate. Your favorite."
The knight raised an eyebrow, peering over into the mug again. He picked it up, starting to sip the beverage. Smiling with delight, he licked the access liquid from his lips after moving the mug down. "This tastes really good! You've gotten be— erhm Sho, you should try some!"
Shoto looked at the mug. He was skeptical about the fact that Tomura of all people was treating them to drinks, and decided to look up at him. All he saw was an awaiting smile on his face, followed by the words "You heard him. Drink up."
He looked down, a trusting smile on Izuku's face. He assumed that if the greenette was still fine after drinking it, why not him?
The prince took the mug, starting to drink it. It warmed him up, calming him down a bit as the liquid slid down his throat. He sighed, resting his head on top of Izuku's, his chin getting lost in the green tufts of hair.
The knight patted the taller male's head, smiling in relief as he seemed to have calmed down a bit. He smiled, then turned to Tomura with an unsuspecting expression. "So... uh... you won't hurt us?"
"Oh course not. Does it look like I have any interest in hearing your screams at the moment? I've already had enough of two other good-for-nothings, so what's the point of getting more annoyed?" He started to scratch at his neck, recalling the events a few hours ago.
Shoto sighed, still not very assured that Tomura wasn't going to act off of anything. After all, he was acting suspiciously welcoming for someone who was supposed to be on the opposing side. He rolled his wrist, making the liquid in the mug move like small waves. "Then, what the hell do you want to talk about? Get it over with."
Tomura chuckled, "You're quite like the both of them. Well, I guess it really is to be expected." He used his legs to push himself back, the chair leaning on its two hind legs. "But for now, how are you Midoriya? Well? It's been years since I last saw you."
Izuku narrowed his eyes, trying to focus on the mug as if this were nothing but a normal conversation. "Uhm... I'm okay.. What about you...?" He knew deep that Tomura would never ask how he was without a reason, but he proceeded to choke back that feeling.
"I'm fine. Is All Might treating you well?"
"Mhm.. of course..." Right after he spoke, he started to aggressively chug down the rest of his hot cocoa.
Shoto looked down at Izuku, tilting his head. "All Might? As in King All Might? Are you two close?"
The knight nodded, still drinking in silence.
The prince looked slightly surprised, but then looked around as if to try and put two and two together. "Wait if you two are close... and you're both from the Land of Lightning... you have similar fighting styles..." He paused for a moment, before his eyes lit up with the feeling that he had found the answer. "Wait... are you All Might's secret love child or something??"
Izuku nearly choked, spitting out his drink all over the floor. That was followed by a series of coughs, as he covered his mouth with his elbow so as to not spread anything else around the room. In between his actions he was able to let out a subtle "Sh-Shoto... n-no!"
Shoto scratched at his head. "No? Oh. So.. you two just train together then, yes?"
The greenette's coughs were starting to subside, putting a hand over his chest because it was starting to hurt. "Yes, we only train, I swear, there's no other relation."
It seemed that the prince was finished asking questions, as the floor was given back to Tomura in a snap. "But back to the main question. Do you know exactly everything about King Endeavor's rule?"
The shadow in the second cell moved with that question, and also caused Shoto to raise an eyebrow. Of course he knew everything about it, he was his son for god's sake. "Yes, why the hell wouldn't I? You're just wasting my time."
"Oh? I'm wasting time now? How about you zip your mouth and listen up. There's so much more about your father that you should learn." Tomura's crimson gaze trailed to the dark cell, shooting a threatening look that read 'don't you dare speak'.
Shoto's hands trailed down on top of Izuku's, starting to draw small circles of his skin. "More? What more do I have to learn about that bastard? What would I even get out of that? I just want to get Uraraka and get out of here, so Izuku and I can finally be peaceful."
"Oh don't worry, I'll give you the girl. As soon as you sit down and listen to what I have to say. If you don't, then the answer is simple: You both can die, right here by my own hands. I'm sure it's in your best interest to stay safe, right? Unless you want to live through the pain of watching Izuku Midoriya die right in front of you? He's your dearly beloved, am I right? So? What will it be?"
Shoto fell silent, as he watched Tomura smirk like this was nothing but a game to him. Then he looked down at Izuku, just thinking about how much it would hurt to see him gone. The prince looked back to the white haired male, letting out an exhausted sigh, "Fine. I'll listen. Just don't take too long."
"Perfect. You've made the right decision." With that, he went on to start from the beginning of it all.
