Chapter 2: Chasing Adventure

The sun had risen over the greatly known Land of Lightning. The breeze had brought a chill to those who had been awake at the time, but felt refreshing to those who had been working.  In the middle of a small but sweet village, a humble house had been breathing out smoke from its small chimney.  From the inside, a proud mother had been making delicious food for her very own son to eat in the morning before his daily departure.

The green haired woman had been wearing a simple pink dress over lightly shaded yellow sleeves. She held her soup ladle in hand as she finished up the food she had been making. She called out, letting her voice reach her son, "Izuku! Food is ready when you're ready!"

The green haired boy had heard the voice of his mother calling out to him, and slowly opened his eyes.  He tiredly rubbed his eyes and tried his best to yawn away his sleepiness. He felt the warmth in his bed sheets, wanting to stay within them, for they felt like a comfortable marshmallow.  He snuggled deeper into his bed sheets, hoping to drift off to sleep again.

The worried mother made her way to the entrance of her son's bedroom. She knocked on the door once but no one had answered. She turned the knob and opened to the door, only to see the green head still asleep. "I-Izuku! Wake up! You'll be late for training with his majesty, King All Might!"

The young boy immediately threw his sheets off of him and tried to look as awake as possible, "ALL MIGHT!?  LATE!?  NO!!!"  He quickly jerked his head back and forth as fast as he could realizing what his mother had said.  He frantically searched for his clothes all around the room as fast as he could, not wanting to disappoint the king.

His mother, Inko, giggled a bit at her son's struggle. "Don't worry, Izuku. I was just trying to get you out of bed." She smiled at the boy and he let out a sigh of relief. "Food's done, so get dressed and come to eat with me when you're ready." She turned around and slowly closed the door on her way out.

The young boy sighed again as he saw his door get closed.  He headed back towards his bed and began to fix it up, making sure he didn't leave it looking like a mess when he came back. He grabbed his favorite garb, one that was handcrafted by his very own mother. He then took his sword in hand and attached it to his belt, putting on his gloves right after, and completed the look by adding on his favorite pair of red shoes, the ones he wore all day everyday.  Looking into his room's mirror, he patted his head a bit, looking at his curly hair.  He smiled and nodded, ready to start off the day.

Izuku left the room and closed the door behind him, walking with a smile toward the house's humble kitchen.  Inko greeted him, as he sat down on one of the table's chairs.  His mother had served them both, and in no time at all, they had been eating happily.

"So," the mother started to make conversation with her son, "Izuku, how's training going with All Might?"

"O-oh! It's going great! Today I'm supposed to go on my first Mission!" He smiled as he consumed another of spoonful of the soup. "All Might said that I should start off easy, so he'll give me a D-Rank Mission!"

Inko smiles as she put the pot away, "Izuku, I'm really proud of you, but be careful out there! I don't want you to get hurt. I know how you are with these things." She then looked at her son a bit worried while folding up a napkin.

Izuku had finished his bowl in no time at all, as his mother had excused him from the table.  "Don't worry, Mom!  I'll be fine!  Nothing can go wrong on a simple D-Rank mission!"  He smiled as he got his bag ready for training that day.

Inko gave her son a nervous smile as she nodded, "Alright Izuku, I'll see you as soon as your mission is done!  I love you!"

The green haired boy ran up to his mother and gave her a hug, right when he was done packing his bags and pouches.  "I love you too, Mom."

Once they parted from the hug, Izuku headed out the front door with a proud look on his face. Inko came out too, watching her son as he left the village. The caring mother waved continuously, until the boy could no longer been seen from where she had been standing. She held her hands close to her and sighed, "Please let my son return home safely..."

Quickly arriving in the center of it all, Izuku had finally made it to the Land of Lighting's huge castle. Above the entrance, a emblem of lighting had marked the castle. The green head breathed in as he had knocked on the gates, not really expecting someone to answer. His knock echoed throughout the castle's halls, alarming a few of the highly ranked knights.  One of the knights had left his post and decided to opened the gate to check who exactly had been knocking.

He opened it just the slightest, just to see who had been there.  He saw the green haired boy waiting there with a huge smile on his face.  The man sighed and cleared his throat, getting the boy's attention, "Oh, you must be Izuku Midoriya.  His Majesty has been expecting you in the garden out in the back."

Izuku nodded with a smile, "Thank you! I'll be there right away!"  He made his way through the side of the castle and past a few rose bushes.  He made a few lefts a rights before he reached the buff man who wore the golden crown.  The blonde had been standing in the middle of the garden's gazebo, as his robe had been proudly and neatly draped over his shoulders. The boy's smile only widened at the sight of the king, "A-All Might!!!"

The king turned around, his huge smile taking up most of the space on his face. "AHAHA! LOOK WHO'S HERE!" When Izuku made his way into the gazebo, All Might hit his back a bit too roughly, making the boy wince a bit. However, he knew that All Might only meant well, and didn't mean to hurt him. "Welcome back, Young Midoriya! I see you're here early!"

"Y-Yeah!"  He had a nervous smile plastered on his face.  He was trying to contain his excitement, for he had been a big fan of All Might's since his debut as a knight. "All Might, I'm surprised you haven't changed back yet."

"AHA! I guess I'm just stronger than I—" he coughed up blood and immediately changed his form into a shorter, skinner version of the widely known king, "thought.."

Izuku let out a tiny scream as he witnessed All Might suddenly change. Even though he had witnessed this many times, it had still acted as a surprise to him.  "A-All Might!?  Are you okay!?"

The now bony man had been wiping the blood from his face and continued to cough a bit.  "Yeah, I'm fine.  This happens all the time, no need to worry, Young Midoriya!"

The green haired boy let out a sigh of relief, as he had been holding onto the bag he had wrapped over his shoulder. "So, All Might, about that mission..?"

"Oh!  Right!"  He rubbed the back of his neck as he remembered what he was doing, "I haven't decided what mission you should go on yet, that's why I wasn't expecting you to come so early."  He blushed with embarrassment as he saw the boy's smile crumble with disappointment, "Sorry."

"N-no! It's fine! It's my fault for coming so early!" He again plastered that same nervous grin on his face, trying to show All Might that he hadn't been disappointed.

The blonde blinked and then chuckled, "Don't blame yourself for everything, kid! I promise, I'll get you a mission right now! Just wait right here, and you'll be set!"

"R-really?"  Izuku's face had now light up with excitement when he heard the king's words.  The blonde nodded, reassuring the boy.  "T-thank you so much, All Might!"  The king gave Izuku a thumbs up, as he headed off into the castle walls.

All Might had made his way to the castle's library, knowing that he kept all of his mission scrolls there. There was a whole pile of new scrolls for new missions on the library's main desk, telling him that more requests had come in this morning. He sighed as he approached the piled and started to dig through the scrolls.

"D-Rank... where can I find an interesting D-Rank mission for Young Midoriya?" He started to look through all the scrolls, throwing them behind him after looking at them. It only created another pile, something that he would have to deal with later.  A knock sounded at the library's main door, alerting the king.  He quickly turned back into his buff form, "You may come in!"

One of the knights had opened the door and looked at the king, "Your Majesty," he got on one knee and bowed at All Might's presence, "We have a Knight from the Land of Fire here upon orders."

Those words got the king's attention, "The Land of Fire?" The Knight nodded at his question, "Let him in."

The Knight backtracked through the door and went to the castle's main entrance again. He came back with a Knight who wore glasses to greet the king in his seat. The blue haired knight bowed, "It's a pleasure to meet you, your Majesty All Might."

All Might had been really confused, King Endeavor never asked for help from the other Great Nations, much less the Land of Lightning.  He cleared his throat, "Welcome.  What brings you to my humble kingdom?"

The Knight had fixed his glasses, "I am Tenya Iida, Prince Shoto Todoroki's most trusted Knight.  I have come from the Land of Fire upon request of a four man squad.  I spoke to all of the Land of Fire's Knights, and no one seemed to want to come along.  Same thing goes for your knights."  He looked around, "I fear it might be due to the long and dangerous journey ahead.  Based off of the details, I would say it's about the level of an S-Rank Mission.  Is there anyone available to take on this mission?  It would be greatly appreciated by King Endeavor if someone could offer a hand."

All Might wasn't sure how to react, "Um really? No one wanted to volunteer?" The knight nodded at the king. Suddenly, All Might got an idea. It may be a little reckless, but this was his chance to show what he had. "Actually, I do have one available knight!" He kept the same huge smile on his face, as he gave Iida a thumbs up.

Iida smiled, "Good, let's inform him of the mission immediately, and then we'll be off." All Might nodded and led him to the back garden where Midoriya had been waiting for him to return. The green head saw All Might and his face lighted up once more. Iida fixed his gaze upon the boy, "Is this him?"

All Might replied, "Yes, this is him, Izuku Midoriya.  Now if you'll just excuse me."  Iida was confused by how plain the boy looked, for he didn't seem like he had much experience as a knight.  The king approached the boy and joined him on the gazebo once more.  Iida stayed back, politely sitting on a nearby bench settled right next to the many rose bushes. All Might started speaking with the green haired boy again, "So, Young Midoriya, I have finally chosen what your first mission as a knight should be!"

"R-really!?" He jumped with excitement as he looked at the king's smile, "Finally! My first mission! I hope this D-Rank mission isn't as boring as I've heard them to be!" His eyes started to water up, as he filled with joy.

All Might chuckled and put his hand on his hips, "HAHAHA! NONSENSE! This here is an S-Rank Mission!"

"W-what?"  The smile on his face turned to pure terror as he looked at the king before him.  He had no words, for he wasn't sure why All Might would give such an inexperienced knight the duty for a highly experienced knight.  He started to panic, "A-All Might!  B-but what about what we talked about!?"

The blonde chuckled once more, "My boy, everything will turn out fine!"  He then started to whisper into the boy's ear, "But on a less simpler note this is your chance to prove yourself.  If you start out big and succeed in your mission, more people will request your help!  Don't you think that this is great!"

The boy whispered back, "B-but what if I mess up? Then my whole reputation could be ruined!"

"Don't worry, I believe in every bit of you, Young Midoriya!" Midoriya was shaking a bit, nodding at All Might's reassuring words. "Now, Young Iida is waiting for a response, go and make your debut!"

Midoriya gulped and turned around to face the knight. He approached him at the bench and was still shaking. The blue haired boy stood up in his presence and listened to his words, "I-I h-heard y-you w-were h-ere t-t-to g-give m-me a-a m-m-m-mission."

Iida raises an eyebrow at the boy's stuttering, "Ah, yes. It seems you're the only knight available, so we'll have to go with you." He fixed his glasses and shook hand with the green head. "However, we are still in need of one more member."

All Might perked his head up, listening to the knight's words, "Since no one here at the palace volunteered, there's a sweet little village, not too far South from here.  There you might find some willing travelers."

Iida looked hesitant, but then agreed, "As long as we can find someone else."  He again turned to Midoriya, "Your name was Midoriya, if I'm not mistaken.  Come along now, we shall be off to find another member for this mission."

Izuku was a nervous wreck, giving All Might a nervous smile and a shaky thumbs up before parting ways with him.  "G-Goodbye, A-All Might!  I-I'll see you when t-the mission is done!"  All Might retuned the thumbs up, as Iida and Midoriya headed off South towards the village.
