Chapter 16: Project Garb Enhancement Is A Go!

"Jeez.. these clothes are all torn... maybe that battle wasn't such a great idea..." Izuku sat in his tent, looking at the garb in front of him, the one his mother had prepared for him just before he set out to train with All Might. It was now tainted with blood as well as tears at its seams, ruined to every inch. It was surprising that it was still holding together well to the extent he could wear it as coverage, however, he was going to need a change of clothes soon, because he couldn't wear this forever if he wanted to impress the royal family, or rather, Shoto. "How am I going to tell mom..."

"Hey, Izuku I—" Shoto had been entering the tent, but stopped as soon as he saw the greenette, realizing that he didn't have a shirt on. Both their faces were red with embarrassment, as they both stared at each other in surprise. The half and half male seemed to have been admiring something, but he covered his mouth, and tried to avoid eye contact, "I'm sorry... were you getting dressed in here? I didn't mean to disrupt."

"No wait it's fine, I was just looking at my ruined garb, it's the only thing off, I swear!" He smiled nervously, reassuring the other male that all was well. He quickly put on the white pleated long sleeve, before putting on the green vest and fixing the cuffs at the wrists. "See? It's all better!"

He let out a sigh of relief and went to sit down closely with Izuku, "That's what I was going to talk to you about. I saw how torn your outfit got as well as the blood that I got mine stained with, and I've come to a conclusion that we should stop by at the shop back at town. They make magic armor and other stuff, so I asked Iida if it was okay to stop by. He said yes, I hope you don't mind if I treat you to a little something for helping me."

"...Sh-Sho! You really don't have to treat me to anything! I really didn't do anything, it's fine!!" He was flailing his arms in different directions in a nervous gesture, not wanting Shoto to do anything for him.

The prince smiled slightly, as he watched Izuku's nervous antics, "You did more than you think. In any case, that garb is important to you, yes?"

With a nod, the greenette began to play with his gloves again, "Y-yeah, my mother made this for me, just before I became a knight under All Might's lead."

"Same thing with mine. I hope that they don't change the design too much. I haven't seen my mother in years, and I hope to still have a keepsake from her." He seemed calmer and more at peace with himself when talking about his mother this time, however, he was still a bit disappointed that he had ruined something that he promised to keep safe. "But, things like this happen, I suppose. Would you like to get going?" He stood up, and offered a hand for the knight, wanting him to join him outside for today's departure.

"Y-yeah! L-let's go th-then!" He took Shoto's hand, and held it into his, and used it to prop himself up from the ground. He smiled widely, just before dragging the prince outside to where Tenya and Ochako had already been halfway done with packing up their things.

"Oh, good morning, Midoriya. I was wondering when you would wake up." Tenya had fixed his glasses, just before he went over to Guinivere to pack supplies and their quickly depleting supply of rations. "If I had to guess, Prince Shoto already told you about our plan for the day. Thankfully, the town is just along the road, still on our path to the Land of Earth." Smiling, he looked at the other two males, who were still standing side by side, "I still don't understand Prince Shoto's strong desire to help you out, but I suppose you can't stay in torn clothes forever, after all, we will be going to meet another royal family very soon."

Shoto then mumbled something under his breath, however, it was too quiet for anyone else to hear it. Izuku just looked at him, wondering what he had said, but if it was too quiet for even him to hear, then he must have not wanted anyone to listen to what he had to say. Clearing his throat, the greenette looked at Tenya, "Y-yeah, the royal family... right..."

Tenya nodded and looked to the side, going off topic, "In any case, you should get packed soon. Prince Shoto was lucky he packed fast, just so he could talk to you, however, we cannot waste too much time here. We have been nothing but lucky, especially when it comes to the many..." he cleared his throat, recalling the previous three days, "roadblocks we've encountered."

"Y-yeah, you're right. I'll get to it right away!" Izuku began to grab the silk of his tent so that he could dismantle it. However, Shoto grabbed his hands and stopped him, grabbing the greenette's attention, and making him face the other male, "Sh-Sho? Is something the matter?"

"Sorry about that, but maybe I should dismantle the tent for you. I think you should go eat instead, I'll pack your things away."

He was wide eyed, as a blush appeared on his face, "N-no! This is my tent and I should put it away, don't you think?"

"No," was his only answer, as he led the greenette to the breakfast waiting for him. "I insist. You need to be energized, and if you don't eat, you won't have the same energy that you always do. In any case, go eat, I'll pack your things."

Furrowing his eyebrows, Izuku put his hands on his hips, and stated proudly, "W-well you don't know how to dismantle my tent, so jokes on you! Good luck trying to figure it out!" It was mainly true, because Izuku didn't know how to tie things properly, so it was a wonder how it stood together all the same.

The prince sighed, and pulled at one of the knots slightly, making the whole thing fall and disassemble all in one quick motion. Being a little sassy, he looked at the greenette again, "You were saying?" and then immediately went to pack away the pieces into Izuku's bag, a smirk of satisfaction on his face.

The knight was now embarrassed, "Sh-Sho! That's not fair!" He laughed and went back over to Shoto, now helping him pack away his things. They continued to go back and forth, laughing a little bit in between their playfulness, until they walked over the Guinevere and finished packing everything up. "You're so mean," Izuku said, sticking out his lips, pretending to be disappointed.

"Doesn't that make you the mean one for calling me mean?" He slowly started to walk ahead, dragging his ivory steed by her golden reigns.

"W-what?" He then realized that Shoto began to walk away and caught up with him, "H-hey! Don't leave!"

"Maybe you should have eaten breakfast, then maybe I would have been a bit more forgiving."

"I-I w-well s-sor—"

"Why are you apologizing? Here." He grabbed something from one of his bags and gently handed it to Izuku. It was nicely wrapped in red and blue cloth, matching the color scheme of the prince.

Once he opened it, his mouth widened at a perfectly wrapped and shaped onigiri. "Where'd you get this f-from...?"

"I made it for you. It took a while to gather the materials, but I was able to do it while the rest of you were asleep. I got a little bit of help from the townspeople, but I hope you enjoy it."

It was a bit questionable, however, he nodded nonetheless, and took a small bite. "Oh my goodness! It's delicious!" His entire face lit up, as he continued to stuff the rest of it into his mouth, just before swallowing. "Th-thank you Sh-Sho, I love it!"

The prince, smiling slightly, looked ahead again, "Good. Now, don't hesitate to get as many enhancements as you want, because I want you to treat yourself. I have the time and money, don't worry about anything."

The greenette only nodded, as they entered the front gates of the small town. There were people situating every area, and it seemed as if either everyone was talking, or at least trying to make business. There were a few noticeable people that could be heard fangirling, seeing the prince's handsome face, but there were also some whispers coming from others, who weren't so friendly towards the Todoroki bloodline. Izuku had noticed, and he didn't know what to make of both kinds of people, so he only walked closer to Shoto.

The half and half male then suddenly stopped in front of a shop, looking up at a sign. "This should be it."

Izuku looked up at the sign as well, once he stopped right besides him, "Sparkling Styles...? What? Wait a second... please don't tell me that this—"

But he was cut off by another, who had just come in and tackled Izuku, "OH MY GOODNESS, IT'S YOU AGAIN! PLEASURE TO MAKE YOUR ACQUAINTANCE!!!" She had vibrant pink hair that stood out with the general brown color of the buildings around them, as well as golden eyes that seemed as if they could see a longer distance than normal.

The greenette didn't have a response, he was still processing that the female was right on top of him, and he didn't know what to do with it. This also made Shoto uncomfortable, as his gaze looked around somewhere else, but it was hard to avoid it, since he didn't like even the thought of someone being on top of the other male.

"Oh sorry, did I scare you?" She popped right off of him and fixed her goggles, not even giving herself a second to dust her clothes off, "It doesn't matter, anyway, it was Midoriya, right? IT'S A GREAT THING THAT YOU'RE BACK, I HAVE SO MANY NEW BABIES TO INTRODUCE TO YOU!!"

The prince tried to help the knight up, but raised an eyebrow at her words, "Babies...?"

Izuku, sighing a bit, tried to rub his head after standing up, and started to shake it ever so slightly. "She's talking about her inventions. Hello, Hatsume."

Mei smiled a bit, flicking her goggles and wiping a bit of oil on her face, only making it smudge across her cheek. "But welcome back! I've been WAITING for you to come back! We could really use someone with your assets!"

Izuku began to shout defensively, "I already told you that I'm not going to be used as an advertisement!!!"

"Ah well I tried, BUT PLEASE RECONSIDER!" She then looked at Tenya, and looked at him like he was a billboard, "OR MAYBE I COULD USE HIM, HE'S PERFECT TO TRY OUT MY NEW BABY!"

The blue haired knight stepped back a little bit, "Please don't do that..." he said, a nervous look on his face.

"Well SOMEONE has to, I mean I have ALL OF THIS PREPARED and it would be quite the bummer if you MISSED OUT on all of this AMAZING magic and tech!" She gestures to the inside of the shop, which was filled with all kinds of new armor as well as accessories to increase magic power.

Tenya looked at the inside, but genuinely didn't want to be intentionally used for personal advertising, so he looked at Ochako, who was making sure that Guinevere didn't run off. "Well, I apologize, but I think that should be a Midoriya and Prince Shoto kind of... adventure. However, Uraraka and I will make sure that Guinevere is properly fed and groomed, since we are here in town and there must be something like that here somewhere..."

Ochako hadn't really been engaged in the conversation, but she did see this as an opportunity to leave the two males together on some sort of date. Smirking a bit, she returned Tenya's gaze, "Yes! Let's go right away!" She then dragged the armored knight away as fast as she could, leaving the other two with the pink haired female.

"Uhhhh... anyway, we c-can't stay too l-long... we're kind of on a mission and I don't want Iida to get too disappointed in us for constantly getting sidetracked..." Izuku fiddled with his gloves, looking down at his feet.

The prince looked down at Izuku, "Right... mission..." he looked a little hesitant, and was now kind of determined to delay the mission even further. "Hatsume," he said in a monotone voice, recalling the name that the greenette had used to greet her not too long ago.

"YES? THAT'S ME!" She beamed with excitement, expecting him to volunteer to advertise her works.

"I would love it if you could put together brand new attire for us. As you can see, Izuku's garb is torn in various places, and mine is bloodstained as well. The only thing that I request from it is that the general design stays the same."

Although truthfully disappointed, Mei still yelled with the same loud enthusiasm, "ALRIGHT! COME RIGHT IN!" She went behind them and pushed them inside, before using her foot to shut the door behind them.

The room was thankfully lit to every corner, so they could see the filled racks of new and sewn clothes. There was one of the racks that had been filled with garbs that had a lot of glitter, probably far too much than was needed, if it really was necessary. The pink haired female then went to sit down at a desk that had a whole lot of loose papers, as well as a pile of unfinished products of her own just behind the chair.

"Any magic enhancement? It's usually upon special request, but I mean you two look like you could REALLY need it one day!" She was referring to Izuku, who really just looked like he took a real beating, which he did, but it's not like she knew what went down.

"U-Uh w-well I d-don't kn-know... I usually go simple..." Izuku wasn't really sure, since he didn't normally use magic, since it did quite a number on him.

Shoto looked down, but spoke up, "Do you do fire and ice? More specifically, Fire on on the left and Ice on the right."

"Fire AND ice? You must be REALLY skilled to control two types of magic! But yeah, we can do something like that!" She looked up at him and started to aggressively doodle on her paper, as well as write a few things down.

"Wait, Sho, you use magic too?" The knight looked up at the other male, tilting his head slightly, unsure what to think about it.

He nodded, "I don't usually use it... but she's right, we might really need it one day." He looked back toward Mei, thinking about how much he wanted to prevent any harm on Izuku, so maybe he would have to use his magic eventually.

"W-wow that's so cool! I do too, but it's usually just lightning. I don't even know what kind of enhancements I would have. Besides, I like my outfit right now anyway, I don't think I want to change them."

"I think your design suits you. It matches your beautiful green hair and eyes." He said that without thinking, but it wasn't like he wanted to take it back.

The knight was silent, as you could see his face grow just as red as Shoto's left side. He tried to express his thoughts, but it just got jumbled in his flusteredness, as he went from flailing his arms in different directions, to rubbing the back of his head in a speedy manner.

The prince wanted to make a comment about how adorable he looked, but the thought was taken away once Mei grabbed the papers and shouted, "DONE!!!" She showed each design to them, hoping that it met their standards. "HOW IS THIS???"

Izuku snapped himself out of his trance, and looked at the page, "W-wow, this is exactly what I wanted. Th-thank you!"

The prince nodded in satisfaction, "Yes. I quite like this."

The female smiled, and turned toward a curtain that led to the back of the shop. "Hold on, let me get him."

Both males titled their head, unsure who 'him' was. "Who?" they both said in unison, watching Mei do her thing.

She cupped her hands around her mouth, and shouted in the same direction, "BOSS! WE NEED YOU OUT HERE, WE HAVE CUSTOMERS!!!"

"Oui?" Her boss peered through the curtain, showing off an outfit that matched the same thing as the rack filled with glitter garbs, or so they were labeled. Now the name of the shop made much more sense: his outfit was far too blinding, and it was stunning how he walked around in that all day.
