Chapter 13: A Prince Worth Fighting For
"No, Monoma. I challenge you." It was actually quite the shock when Izuku drew his blade, and it sent everyone into a frozen state, not really able to find the right words. The only one who moved was the other knight, using his hand to slowly move the blade away from himself. "I challenge you to a duel."
"So, Izuku Midoriya, you want to play it that way?" Neito stepped back, being a little cautious of the other male, as he began to draw his blade from the sheath attached to his side. "And why would you have the audacity to do so?"
His green eyes trailed to Shoto who was staring in awe at his bravery, "Because, from the very moment I laid my eyes on him, I swore to protect and escort him. And under no circumstances will I let you just walk away without a real fight. There's still so much that I want to do with him, and I'm just really not ready to let him go. I will do whatever it takes, just to see his smile, and whatever it takes to keep it there."
With a chuckle, the blonde shook his head, looking as if he were amused with his words. "Ah, I see. So that's why. You have a little crush, I see."
Izuku's face turned pink, but he tried his best to retain his look of seriousness, "Don't change the subject! En garde!" He screamed in a very high pitched manner, running toward Neito at top speed, his blade held out straight to his side, ready to strike.
"That wasn't much of a warning, coward!" Once the greenette went in to swing his blade for a first attack, the blonde deflected it off. Small sparks flew off from the impact, as their blades caused abrasion to the others.
"Coward!?" He lifted his blade and quickly backflipped back, "Who are you calling a coward!? You're the coward if you really need to steal a mission just so you won't be forgotten! Maybe you should think about others rather than yourself for a change!" At this point, the look on his face was filled with distraught, unlike his usually friendly smile.
"You really are one to talk! You're trying to take him back for your own selfish deeds, aren't you?" Neito then lunged at him, raising his sword before Izuku could even react. When he swung his sword, it sliced off some of the other male's curls, as well as cutting his right cheek, just below his freckles.
This made Shoto panic a bit, but he was still too frozen in place to react to what was going on. As was Tenya, who would have usually stopped the fight from even happening in the first place. Ochacko, Itsuka, and Tetsutetsu just didn't know what to do to stop it, they were just terrified of what the outcome would be.
He felt the blood drip slowly down his face, and he wiped it away with his sleeve. It only stung a little, so he disregarded it for the time being. "AT LEAST I'M TRYING TO MAKE ANOTHER PERSON HAPPY! AT LEAST I WANT TO KEEP ANOTHER SAFE! ISN'T IT A KNIGHT'S JOB TO THINK ABOUT OTHERS AND NOT THEMSELVES!?" Running behind Neito, he went in for another strike, throwing his arms in a one-eighty degree turn.
Dodging, the Blonde's garb got torn at his side, only slightly grazing his skin, barely leaving a scar. "I don't need to hear your input! I know what I'm doing! You and I both know the dangers of defying the words of King Endeavor! You and I both know how much devastation that will cause! Do you really expect me to stop and let you ruin a mission that can cost the whole world?" Using his own blade, he moved Izuku's away from him, hoping to knock it out of his hand, however only making his wrist twist in a spiral due to his tight grip on the sword's hilt. He then moved it again in one quick motion, sliding it against the side of the greenette's skin.
"I-I KNOW THE RISKS, AND I'M WILLING TO TAKE THEM! AND THE OUTCOME IS INEVITABLE ANYWAY! YOU KNOW THAT TOO!" He felt his blood gushing out of the side, the spot turning his green folds into a dark shade of crimson. This didn't stop him from making a counter attack, turning his body around in a spinning motion, knocking the blade out of Neito's hand using sheer force.
Sliding on the ground after his blade, he jumped back onto his feet, running once again at him, seeming as if he were ready to impale him. "YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT YOUR OWN WORDS BEFORE COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW SELFISH OTHERS ARE! DON'T YOU THINK THAT YOU SHOULDN'T BE SUCH A HYPOCRITE!?" Instead of impaling him, he immediately changed his stance, and cut through the skin of the other male's shoulder.
Izuku screamed in pain, as he could detect the cold feeling of his blood running down his arm, dripping to the ground. He realized that he could no longer fight using that arm, and had to resort to a one handed sword fight from then on out. "YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHAT SHO HAS BEEN THROUGH! I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO MAKE HIM FEEL HAPPY! I KNOW THAT'S REALLY SELFISH, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW YOU'RE GOING TO GIVE HIM THAT HAPPINESS! IF YOU MAYBE SHOWED THAT YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO SACRIFICE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING FOR HIM, THEN I WOULD LET HIM GO WITH YOU! THEN AND ONLY THEN WOULD I LET SHO LEAVE OUR GROUP! ON TOP OF THAT, I VOWED TO HELP HIM FIND THE HAPPINESS HE NEEDS! I VOWED TO LIGHT HIS WAY IN DARKNESS! I VOWED TO PROTECT AND TREAT HIM WITH THE KIND OF LOVE HE DESERVES!" Sparks of green lightning started to flash and surround his body, as if he were ready to use full strength against Neito, showing no more mercy at this point. Using his only available arm, he swung at inhuman speeds, leaving a huge cut on the blonde's left arm.
Now, this pain had been excruciating. It was as if tiny little blades were eating away at his skin, even long after it had been pulled out of the wound. This wasn't just some normal technique that anyone was taught, this was one of the advantages that Izuku as a legendary knight successor had obtained from his special training. However, he wasn't going to stop now, it was far too late, and though it was going to catch up with him later, he was already committed to the fight.
"Midoriya... Izuku..." his breaths were heavy, as he gripped his arm, trying to numb away the feeling of the throbbing that echoed throughout every inch of his body. "I admire your... perseverance.... You have wonderful vigor... but I won't allow you to..." he coughed, some blood dripping out of his mouth before he used his sleeve to cover it up, "win... this fight... not on my... watch.."
The smaller male, the lightning still surrounding him, was breathing heavily as well, just as worn out, as his eye was a little lowered down from the hits he had taken. You could tell that he was hurt pretty badly, his clothes overly stained, and the scrapes that were scattered across his face, along with the tears in his garb. "I could say... the same for you.... Monoma.... Neito...." Doing his best to shake away his tiredness, he slid underneath the other knight, and using his sword, created a gash in his leg.
Neito started to get a little lightheaded, all of the blood that had been dripping out of his body, and the never ending torment that came from the wounds only made the strain on him worse. He was losing his balance, and though it seemed like he was going to lose, he still went in to swing his blade at Izuku, trying to match up to his speed.
This just barely gave him a cut, and a huge one, only because he was trying to move away, but it only worsened it. His vision had started to get blurry, and he could hardly keep his concentration on the other male at this point. "P-plus u-ultra..." He began to slowly drag his body along, as he tried his best not to pass out right then and there. He rose his blade high up into the air, ready to strike once more.
"P-plus u-ultra indeed..." Following Izuku's lead, he rose it high into the sky, striking down, ready to hit him. "N-no... not.. Now.." his arms lowered slowly, as his body began to give up on him, "I'm... n-not.... Finished... w-with.... Him..." The words barely came out of his mouth, as his blade dropped to the ground, and following right after it, came his whole body, planting himself face first into the floor. He was out cold, thankfully still alive, however.
Izuku looked at the fallen knight, hardly able to process his win, since the whole world was spinning, and he could hardly keep himself straight on the ground. "I-I... w-won... Sho... d-did you see.... T-that...? I-I..... w-won.... Sho... we..... Can.... finally.... T-travel... t-together...." He was starting to walk his way over to the prince in a sluggish manner, trying to find the strength in his face muscles to smile, as his lightning finally dispelled. "S-Sho... c-catch... m-me.." He then dropped his blade by his feet, and slowly started to collapse to the ground.
Shoto, who had just snapped out of his state of shock, was able to catch him, and hold him in his arms gently, as to get a word out of him. "Izuku... why would you do that...?" He was panicking because everywhere he looked, blood had been located on every inch of his body.
He was barely able to muster a small smile, as he pulled his only functioning hand to hold the other male's cheek. "B-because.... Y-you're... a... p-prince.... Wo-worth.... F-f-fighting... f-for.." He began to lean in, towards his face, almost as if he were going to kiss him, but every inch of his body was shaking, so he couldn't move any closer.
"You got yourself seriously injured though. I mean, look at you... there's blood all over you. I saw the whole thing, you could have died. I wanted you back, but... not... not like this." He looked like he was on the verge of tears, feeling the pain that Izuku must have been experiencing for himself.
The greenette noticed, and slowly shook his head, "S-Sho... p-please.... Don't.... C-cry..." He tried to turn his head to Neito, to see if he was okay, realizing now that what he did was wrong.
When he looked, Tetsutetsu and Itsuka had been finally relieved of their former state, and ran over to Neito, who still hadn't woken up. They shook him in a panic, but to no avail. The orange haired girl shook her head slowly, and asked the grey haired male to help her carry him. Hoisting his arms around their respective shoulders, they walked away from the scene, thinking that they needed to get him healed immediately.
"I-I'm... s-sorry.... I just.... T-thought.... T-that.... Maybe...." he started coughing, more blood dripping out, "I-if................ I-I... d-did............... t-that................... M-maybe.......... I could........ Prove....... To you..... H-how....... Much...... you..................... m-mean.................................. T-to.................................................. Me."
"Izuku, you don't need to prove anything about yourself. You've already proved enough. Please save your strength. We need to find a way to heal you as soon as possible." He started to frantically turn his head in every direction, in the hopes of seeing a nearby town that could possibly have some sort of health center, or a potion shop, just anything that could help.
He laughed, but it only turned into another cough, the noises that he made sound scratchy and hoarse. "U-Uraraka-San..... Is..................................... A.............................................................................. witch....................... I-I'm.................. s-sure................... Sh-she................. C-can.................. figure.......... Something............... out........ Besides........... Yo-you're.............. T-the only............................ H-healing.................. t-that I need...." He sunk his face into Shoto's chest, trying not to let him worry about his damaged face.
He grabbed the knight's hand, Izuku trying his best to give him the same grip, but his hand was shaking, to the point his grip just gave out on him. "Izu? Hey, are you still with me?" He lifted his face, only to see that the greenette was no longer conscious. He immediately picked him up, cradling him in his arms bridal style, trying his best to keep his head up right. Standing up, he yelled to the brunette, "Uraraka! Do you have any healing materials? Potions? Tonics? Anything!?"
Ochako had slapped herself, bringing her mind back into the world before her. "U-uh, yes! I'll get them right away, Todoroki-Kun! You can count on me!" She immediately jogged over to Guinivere, where they kept all of their supplies, and started digging through her bags.
"Izuku, please stay steady until we can get you back into shape." Even though he knew that his words weren't going through to him, he still wanted to make sure that he was okay. He kissed him on the forehead, and slowly placed him down on the grass, making sure to stay by his side until he woke up.
