Chapter 42
Abir P.O.V.
I woke up hearing the alarm sound, turning it off I looked at my wife sleeping soundly beside me there were little sweat beads over her forehead as we kept the AC at 23. Decreasing the AC's temperature to 16 I set an alarm for fifteen minutes and again slept.
As the alarm rang again I dismissed it, and glanced at her she was ok now. She needs the temperature at 16 and I need it at 24. That's a big problem! Like Aarav and Myra we can try to get a middle lane too. We can keep it on 20. From tonight we will keep it in 20.
"Rabbit, rabbit get up. We are getting late" she was in no mood to wake up. I tried patting over her cheeks,
"Let me sleep Abir!" She said in her sleepy voice, she is tired, I guess I should let her sleep a little more.
After five minutes I tried to wake her up again, she was too sleepy. Bechari badi honi ki responsibility pehli baar uthayi hai, thak gayi.
We are almost half an hour late should I wake her up or let her sleep. If it would have been just our anniversary celebration I would have let her sleep, but it's her dream, her NGO..
"Rabbit utho" I tried to wake her nicely, slid all the hair strands over her face to behind her ears,
"Utho bhi" I tried to shake her a little but she is really in a deep sleep.
"Mishti!" I called out a little irritated, I called her out a few more times, sighing I took the water from the side table and was about to throw all of it over her face but then I thought to be gentle with her, so I just dropped two drops of water over her cheek. She was so in sleep that she just wiped it off and again went back to sleep.
"Mishti get up or I will empty the jug over you!"
"Shut up and let me sleep!"
"Iski to.." I was about to empty the jug over her but then halted and just poured a little amount of water near her eyes. She got up with a jerk, and gave me an unbelievable look.
"Why? Why can't you let me sleep?"
"Look at the clock! And sleep more if you want to!"
"What's it?" She looked at the clock and was shocked,
"Why didn't you wake me up? Have you lost your mind? You should have woken me up long ago..." she kept ranting about how I made her life miserable because I didn't wake her up while she got up from the bed and collected all her things.
"I am sorry! Ok!" I said not having any options. I should have emptied the jug over her I would have at least had mental satisfaction.
"Aapke sorry kya me achaar dalu? Itna time waste ho gaya na! Ab ye time to wapas nahi aane wala!"
"Ha to kya ho gaya? Kuch nahi hua! Tension mat lo!" I wanted to fight back with her but if I do that both of us mood will be spoiled and we won't be able to enjoy our functions.
"Hogaya sab? Ab chale?" I asked as she got all her things at one place. We decided to get ready at the NGO, so it will be convenient for all of us. There was a knock on the door, opening it was ketu, she was done and was waiting for us.
Me and Mishti were in one car, maa and ketu in the other while Kuhu and Kunal were still not ready. As usual I was driving the car while she rested over her passenger seat. She rested her head over my shoulder and sighed at the traffic. Two minutes ago she was fighting with me for not waking her up and now she is leaning over my shoulder. My woman has got serious mood swings issues.
"How does it feel Braveheart?" I asked her about the NGO
"It sucks! Right now I just want to get out of this traffic!"
"I was talking about the NGO!"
"Everything is good but I have an issue.."
"What's it? Who's troubling my wife?"
"The women they sent to our NGO. They all were into prostitution. Let's get honest here I opened the NGO for women like widowed women, divorced women, children, old age people.. I didn't expect my First interaction to be with prostitutes. I clearly don't have any idea about how to talk to them, what to make them feel, what they need, I am just zero in this topic. I am not able to understand a thing."
"Relax Wifey! Breathe! We will figure it out together. Don't worry."
"I know you will do it! You are good at everything especially communication but I am not I am scared that I might say something wrong.."
"Breathe first meri Jaan!" She did as I said and had a sip of water.
"Do you trust me?"
"Yeah of course what sort of question is this?"
"Good then just treat them as you treat other women's. Don't differentiate! Forget that they had a past!"
"What did you think I was going to say bad words?"
"Not that way Rabbit! The whole life they didn't get just one thing and that is Respect! So give them respect that's it. You don't need to work more to gain their trust"
"You are right actually.."
"Be calm. Keep your short temper aside when you talk with them."
"I won't be angry until they do something irrational"
"Still you need to be considerate a little lineant"
"Yeah. When I meet them I will introduce myself to them, ask them about thier themselves. That's it. That would be enough for tonight I guess"
"It is enough for tonight but you need to talk more to them later"
"We will do that too. But I want you by my side to handle it if something goes wrong"
"Don't worry nothing is going wrong"
"Are you by my side or not? Just tell me that!"
"For the next 7 lives, My chaand"
"That's all I want!" Saying she pressed a kiss against my upper arm,
"Better stop there! Or we will get more late!" I warned her.
"Shut up! You one track mind! Drive."
" The Abir Rajvansh ko driver banake rakha hai"
"Aapne mujhe bawarchi banaya hua hai uska kya?"
"So we are on equal terms!" There is no chance I can fight with her, she always has a comeback ready.
"Hmm"
As we reached the NGO I helped my wifey with the things, and walked to the room where I was supposed to get ready.
It didn't take me a long time to get ready, I was going to wear a three piece suit which would have matched her gown which I got designed for her but now when she is wearing the saree I should match my outfit with her. So I got a Kurta with a long jacket that would match her saree.
I walked out to check if everything was going right, I can understand the mistakes happening in our anniversary celebration but any mistake in NGO inauguration brings out the worst in me. I just yelled at them for the smallest mistake they made. I want everything perfect, I want my wife's dream to come true to be flawless no matter what.
(Entrance)
(The trees around were lighted up!)
(Sitting arrangement for guest)
(Photo booth)
The stage was kept different so that it would stand out. Mishti wasn't interested in the planning of decoration at all so I had to take it in my hand and make it colourful. The whole theme being red would have made it look boring so I changed the stage element to a colourful one. It was clear that I spent a lot of money for this function because spend much on our wedding and I wanted to make it grand like it's now.
Some of the guests arrived, I had a little talk with them, they were curious about Mishti but she is still getting ready. As I was walking to the ladies room with a lot of gajra in my hand I saw Mishti's brother. I don't know if I should be happy and embrace him or yell at him for not knowing what his wife does. I just passed a smile to him and was about to ignore him but he called out my name so I had to go and talk with him.
"Kaisa ho tum?"
"Me thik hu aap bataiye?"
"Aree kuch nahi tumhari bhabhi ke liye paani leke Jaa Raha tha.."
Before he could complete his sentence bhabhi came in scolding him for being late, such a drama person!
I hate her! I avoided even looking at her.
"Kaise ho tum?" She asked in her fake sweet voice, all I really wanted now was her to vanish in thin air or I will.
"Thik hu! Aap kyu aai bhabhi? Aaram se Ghar PR baith ke aaram karti. Phone pr live dekh leti kyu aai aap yaha pr? Itni takleef kyu li?" I said that out to her not able to control myself, if she keeps coming in front of me I am disrespecting her the way she disrespected my wife. I am not leaving any stone unturned then.
"Me bhi yahi keh Raha tha isse!" Replied Bhai,
"Me aata hu. Kaam hai jara!" I made reason to get away from them. Strolling to the ladies room I knocked on the door waiting for them to open.
They opened the door as the women wore their clothes and were getting their make up or hair done.
I glanced at my wife sitting in front of the mirror wearing that dark green saree her parents got for her. She looked elegant and royal in it, as in the saree was made for the queen and she is the one. Her hairs were tied into a bun the way she likes, her partition filled with sindoor, the brown diamond bindi over her forehead sparkling like a star, she wore the heavy copper earrings, she is definitely going to have a problem with those at night. she wore a medium length gold mangalsutra followed by a long temple jewellery. In the morning I was right about her she is the femme fatale.
As soon as Mishti saw me,
"You.." she threw a few brushes of the make up kit at me, I was successful in saving myself from all her attacks. Thank God there weren't a lot of people in the room. It was just rajshri maa, my wifey and the stylists. If bigben would have been present here, Mishti wouldn't have dared to throw things at me.
"Nishana kamzor hai aapka begum sahiba"
"Nishana my foot! Now I am going to give you hickeys all over your back.."
"I am dying for it! How about doing it now!"
"You shut up! I will kill you!"
"Aisa nahi kehte Mishti!" Rajshri maa interrupted,
"Bohot violent hai aapki beti! Apne pink belt ka bohot acche se istemal karti hai!" I said going closer maa,
"Brown belt!" My wife corrected,
"Waise hua kya?" I was unaware of anything that got my wife so much anger.
"Me nahi bata sakti!" Maa said smiling in a shy way. I am more curious to know what happened exactly.
"Rabbit?" She looked away from me,
"Koi batayega?"
"Actually mam change karni gayi thi, mam jaise hi blouse pehan kar bahar aai, her back was filled with hickeys we had to use make up to hide all those!" Explained the makeup artist who was smiling since I entered the room. Maa burst out laughing along with the artists in room
Now I couldn't stop my smile, I looked at my wife smirking,
"And on top of that meenakshi maa, ketu, kuhu sab the yaha pr. Do you even know how embarrassing it was.. don't smile now.. I will take all your teeth out!" She said frustrated.
"What was embarassing in that? Meri biwi ho tum! Pure riti riwaz se shaadi ki hai tumse.."
"Ha to logo ko hickey dikhate ghoomu? See my husband and I made out today!" She was angry but all of us were busy laughing at her words and expressions.
I tried to control but couldn't,
"Me subah soch Rahi thi ki tum dono Aaj ke din kitne busy ho, ek dusre ke liye time nahi milega tumhe aur tum dono ye ...hickeys..." said maa between her laugh,
"Maa! Aap bhi shuru ho gayi!" Mishti couldn't believe we were laughing at her state.
"Fine. Sorry begum sahiba! Agli baar se hickey dene ke baad aapko bata dunga!"
"You come close to me I will show you!"
"Tum to gaye Abir!" Maa teased me while her laugh was still uncontrollable.
"Waise maa me ye gajre laya tha. Lagane hai aapko?"
"Ha. Kyu nahi!" Replied maa
"Me laga du?" I asked a little loudly, teasing my wife. She just gave me a I will kill you look.
As maa stood before I set the gajra around her hair perfectly. I am being good at it now practice makes the man perfect.
"Tum to bohot acche se gajra lagate ho Abir!" Maa said, impressed by my skills I muttered a thanks to her as my eyes were pinned to my wife the whole time.
"Begum Sahiba aapke baalo me laga de ye gajra?"
"Ha!" She said in a low voice.
"Sunai nahi Diya?"
"Maa ke pass de dijiye. Maa laga degi!" She said in a anger filled tone. Ohh to madam bilkul bhi mazak ke mood me nahi hai.
"Aree nahi sab sunai deta hai mujhe! Abhi kar deta hu!" Getting close I stood behind her and arranged the gajra in her bun while she sat on her chair staring at me through the mirror.
"Why are you staring at me like that again?" I whispered to her.
"Nothing I was just looking at you!"
"No. That's just not a look. That's something else. There is something in your eyes you look at me with"
"What is it?"
"I don't know that's why I am asking you!"
"I also don't know or maybe you are thinking way too much!"
"Maybe!" I am sure the way she looks at me is different, something I am unable to understand.
As I was finished I bent to her face level beside her, as we both looked at each other through the mirror.
"Bilkul mere chaand jaise lag rahi ho!" She was looking tooo pretty even when her make up was not completed. She doesn't need to make up to look pretty, she is beautiful the way she is.
"Wo to me humesha lagti hu! Kuch Naya try kijiye!"
"Maine Aarav ko message kar diya hai ambulance ready rakhne ke liye"
"Kyu?"
"Tumhe dekh kr meri dhakane tej ho Rahi hai mujhe dar hai ki kahi mujhe heart attack na aa jae" I wasn't lying at all, I could feel my heartbeat raising everytime I looked at her.
"Shut up!" She said smiling at me, she and her shut ups!
"Waise make up se chupane ki zaroorat nahi thi. I did a great work!" I said to her while standing,
"I will chop you into pieces, coat those pieces in besan and deep fry it. Once they are ready I will serve them to dogs!"
"One request.. you have my cock!" I requested at least Marne ke baad to Mera cock meri biwi ke muh me jayega.
"Shut up you idiot!"
Turning to maa, "Maa aapko pata hai ek chiz ka regret hai mujhe humari shaadi ke baare me"
"Kya beta?" Maa asked concerned, while my wife stared at me to know the reason.
"Humari shaadi bohot late Hui.. thodi jaldi honi chahiye thi.. me to kehta hu baal vivah kara dete hum dono... humare mamle me I would support child marriage.. bohot der kar di aap logo ne" maa and my wife smiled at my answer, isme hasne waali kya baat hai? I was serious. I wasted so many years of life without her.
"Maa give the remaining gajra to Meenakshi maa, ketu, kuhu"
"And bhabhi!" Added my wife,
"Koi zarurat nahi hai!" I answered back, maa looked at me surprised by the change,
"I mean unki hairstyle pr suit nahi karega" I made up a lie and maa bought it.
Strolling to the door I turned back to know how much more time they are going to take,
"Five minutes!" Replied the make up artist, I wasn't talking to her, why did she jump in. I looked at my wife for an answer,
"10 minutes!" Answered my wife,
"I am waiting" saying I walked out, one of my employees came in with the pair of heels I ordered, grabbing them and I got back to the room.
"Have patience Abir!" My wife called out irritated,
"That's something I don't have"
"Inborn error!"
"Contact the manufacturer!" I said as I kept the box over the bed placed at the corner of the room.
"Ajeeb Rajvansh!"
"Box me kya hai?" Asked Rajshri maa,
"Aapki beti ke liye heels hai!"
"I already bought a pair!" Replied Mishti,
"One of those like in the morning?"
"Yeah!"
"Tumhare heels kitni acche hote hai pata hai hum dono ko! So better wear the one I got"
"I bought them matching to my saree!"
"The ones I got for you are block heels from a very well known brand that match with your saree. So that it doesn't hurt you, you don't trip, it doesn't ditch you in the middle of the road, it's comfortable and trustworthy"
"Whatever I am still not going to wear that"
"Maa aapko pata hai Mishti ki Aaj beech raaste me heels Tut gayi aur wo gir gayi" I know how to make her agree to anything.
"Mishti! Kahi laga to nahi tujhe! Aur kaise giri beta?" Maa asked being concerned about her daughter trying to find any wound over Mishti's skin.
"Nahi. Abir ne girne se bacha liya!" My wife answered uttering bad words for me under her breath. I didn't care about it, I cared about her not tripping and getting hurt.
"Wajah puchiye inse maa!" Maa looked at her waiting for the reason,
"Meri heels tut gayi thi"she admitted,
"Aur pata hai kyu maa! Kyuki madam ko mehnge acche heels pr paise kharch nahi karne the. Inhe saste cheap road side heels kharidne me interest tha. Aur wo inhi sasti cheap roadside heels ne inhe beech raaste me dhokha de Diya aur phir bhi inko ussi saste cheap road side heels pehanni hai!"
"Maa, he took me to a place where a simple plain heel cost ten thousand! So I thought the saste cheap road side heels would be good" She said mimicking me,
"Agar me nahi hota maa to ye raaste ke beech me gir jaati. Uska kya? So it's better to spend thousands rather than getting hurt" I said looking at maa,
"Giri to nahi na me maa!"
"Agar gir jaati to!"I said now looking at my wife,
"Subah the na aap. Waise humesha rahenge mujhe pata hai!"
Now should I fight with her or smile at her trust,
"All I know is you are wearing the heels I got. Maa please isse samajhiye" maa was busy staring at both of us with a smile, beti ke saath saath maa bhi pagal ho gayi hai.
"Maa!"
"Ha! Bata dungi!" Leaving the room I noticed Aarav and his wife coming inside, Aarav couldn't just keep his hand off his wife. For a change Myra was wearing a saree with the jewellery we gifted her.
"To? Had fun?" I asked as they stood ahead of me, they just blushed,
"Kaha maasi Ghar me hi hai, aur wo Pooja ke baad jaygi!" Replied Aarav shamelessly,
"To maasi ko dusre bedroom me Sula do na.."
"Wo to ab raat ko soygi na! Abhi dopher me soi hi nahi."
"Very bad! Bechare!"
We asked maasi to not let them have fun. Because unki suhagraat ke liye room sajana hai, din me thodi kar sakte hai suhagraat.
"Myra, maine Rajshri maa ke pass abhi gajre diye hai, agar tumhe chahiye to un se Lelo!"
"Nahi Bhai. Rehne dijiye. I am ok this way!"
"All the ladies got managed? Any problem? Aur vo abhi tak yaha aai kyu nahi?"
"Aa jayenge! Waise unki ek complaint hai.. humara male designer gaya tha unke pass and they literally tried to force him!"
"Force him in the sense sexually?"
"Yeah! I shut his mouth and didn't let him leave our job"
"Good. I will talk to them."
I just couldn't believe that, it's good that Aarav managed it but if the designer goes saying those women tried to exploit him sexually it will demean our NGO image as well as it will affect our business.
Soon my wifey walked out with her mother,
God! She looks so breathtaking!
"Kaisi lag rahi hu?"
"Itni acchi ki me jaldi hi Alzheimer's aur heart pateint ban jaungaa!"
"Alzheimer's kyu?" Asked gorilla,
"Kyuki inhe dekh kar to me sab bhul jata hu!" I said noticing my wife from head to toe. I was right when I named her Aphrodite!
I forwarded my hand to take off a little kajal from her lower lid,
"Maa ne laga Diya!" She said stopping me from doing my work.
"Koi baat nahi. Ye meri taraf se!" Taking the little kajal from her lower eye lid, I placed a tikka over the back of her neck.
"Ek chiz Kam hai.. yahi ruko kahi jaana nahi!" The payal I got for her would look great with her today's attire.
I was quick to get the payal I got for her from the car, when I got back, maa went to her son while my wife and the new couple were talking about something.
"Yaha baitho!" I made her sit on the chair, while I handed her the red velvet box of payal.
"You got them for me?" She asked with a glint of happiness in her eyes.
"Hmm. It's my anniversary gift to you"
"That's so sweet of you!"
I sat on my knees and took her foot in my hand, before I could remove her heels I noticed that she was wearing the heels I got for her and also another new set of payal tied around her ankle
"Rabbit yeh.."
"Rajshri maa ne abhi diye mujhe unki shaadi ke time ke hai!"
"Ohh.." this means she won't wear the payal I got for her, I kept her foot back on the ground, and was about to stand back,
"Rukiye!"
"Yahi hu Rabbit!" I said getting up, why would she wear the payal I got for her. She will always give the first preference to her parents, not because she is affectionate to them but because they have done a lot for her.
"Wo payal nikal kar ye naye pehanaiye mujhe!" She ordered still sitting in the same place,
"Pr kyu? Wo payal to tumhe maa ne diye hai na"
"Aapko KBC khelna hai ab? Aap kheliye me khud pehen leti hu.."
"Are nahi. Ruko ek second.." I was again on my knees, removing her heels I kept her foot on my thigh and unhooked the payal she had been wearing.
"Ye lijiye!" She gave one of the new payals to make her wear while I returned her the old one. I was making her wear the one I got for her.
"Good evening, Mr. Singhania!" Aarav said in a little high tone so I could understand someone is here and look up, my wifey got conscious about our position, she tried to get her foot back to the ground but I kept a tight grip over her ankle not letting her move. I gave her a don't you dare look and she kept quiet
"Let me introduce you to my wife, my better half
Mrs. Mishti Abir Rajvansh!" I said looking at the man standing ahead of me,
"Nice to meet you Mrs. Rajvansh" came a reply from the other side while I helped her wear the anklet on the other foot and then the heels.
"Bhabhi ji to bohot khubsurat hai!" Mr. Singhania complimented, Mishti muttered a thanks to him while I stood on my legs and forwarded a helping hand to my wife. She looked at me smiling as she grabbed my hand stood up beside, I snaked my arm around her waist and she stiffened at my touch over her bare waist. The way her body reacts to my touch makes me want to feel it more.
"Waise meri biwi to hai hi bohot khubsurat!" I was slightly angry who is he to compliment my wife?
"Mrs. Singhania nahi dikh Rahi?" Asked Aarav as Mr. Singhania came alone,
"Unki tabiyat kharab hai thodi!"
"To aapko unke pass hona chahiye tha"
"Agar Aaj nahi aata to aap naraz ho jaate. Isiliye socha thodi der ke liye aakar chala jau" he replied definitely not wishing to break the good business relation of ours.
"Mrs. Singhania thik hote hi bata dijiyega" I answered in a little strict way. I can't be that soft Abir which I am around My wife. I have to be that rude Abir Rajvansh everyone at the office knows otherwise they will not take me seriously
As he walked away, Mishit looked at Myra and said,
"Yahi hona hai humare saath function khatam hone Tak! Ye dono baat karenge hume introduce karayenge hume smile karna hai aur phir ye log baate karenge aur hum third wheel ban jayenge!" She was smiling while saying it, but I got what was making her feel the third wheel. I will try to involve her in the conversation I have with all so that she doesn't feel left out.
"Ab inse shaadi ki hai to ye jhelna padega!" Came a reply from Myra.
"Waise photo booth bohot accha bana hai photos lete hai na sab!" Suggested Myra with excitement even my wife was interested in clicking pictures today so we walked there only to see the ladies grinning as if their dream came true.
"I love this!" My wife muttered to me,
"Itna pasand aaya tumhe?"
"Ha bohot! Hum Ghar le ja sakte hai isse?"
"Ha! But ye real flowers se bana hai to jyada din nahi tikega!" The other couple was busy getting the pictures clicked.
"Please ghar le chaliye! Jitne bhi din tike!"
"Ok!" Myra called Mishti to join her in the photo booth, taking out my phone and I clicked their pictures. After a few pics Myra walked out leaving Mishti alone at the photo booth.
"Disney fail hai yaar!" I said noticing my wife looking far better maybe the best of the princess! She isn't the princess anymore she is the queen! My Queen!
"Kuch bhi!"
"Arey sach me! Disney kya Miss world Miss universe sab fail hai tumhare saamne!" I praised her as she posed and I kept clicking her photos as it's the first time she is willingly posing.
We went to the NGO, to meet the ladies that had just arrived, we suddenly heard voices probably of females from a room which had closed the door, Aarav being more impatient than me opened the door forcefully revealing a stranger couple having sex.
For God's sake I didn't want to see that thing!
Someone please erase it from my mind! Please
Aarav yelled at them for doing it at this place which I probably wanted to but the woman having sex was one of the ladies that has been sent by the government, me yelling at them the very first day would create a wrong impression.
Mishti and Myra just turned away not wishing to see that unwanted scene. Mishti still does not know about the woman. Aarav gave them a good lecture, he is definitely my shadow for a reason. He is using the exact same words I wanted to.
As we moved to the room which was given to all the ladies that just arrived, the woman who was having sex entered after us. The shock over Mishti's face was enough for me to understand her feelings, she was disgusted.
"Please stop that. Me ye sab yaha bardasht nahi karungi!" She said in a little high voice to that woman, I held her hand indicating her to relax.
"Kal se Kiya nahi na to chain nahi aa raha tha" the woman said shamelessly, Mishti looked at me with utter shock,
"Wo sab chodiye. Rabbit relax.." circling my hand around her waist, I started to draw circles, to divert her attention. I gave her an assuring stare.
"Ye Mishti Rajvansh hai. Iss NGO ki malkin. Ye aap sab ko ek nayi aur acchi zindagi banane me madat karegi. Ummed ye hai ki aap sab bhi humare saath coordinate kare" they just stood there silently, I glanced at Aarav, he just shrugged his shoulder.
"Ye Aarav hai, Mera dost aur wo uski biwi Myra..." they were still silent, but a little girl of merely 12-13 years came ahead asking, "Aapka naam kya hai?" Smiling at her, I replied "Abir Rajvansh, aapka kya naam hai?"
"Sameera" she said cutely,
"Bohot pyaara naam hai!" I said cupping her face in my hand, bending to her level
"Meri maa ne rakha hai.."
"Achha. Aap chocolate khayengi"
"Ha"
Grabbing a chocolate from my pocket I handed it to her, another lady came keeping a hand over sameera's shoulder, glancing at her she was staring at me with anger in her eyes and said "Koi zarurat nahi hai chocolate ki beta, unhe de de wapas."
"Rehne dijiye. Bacchi ke liye hi laya tha!" She took the chocolate from Sameera and handed it back to me.
"Humari bacchi se dur rahiye! Aap jaise mardo ko acche se jaante hai hum!" She said staring at me, I badly wanted to give her a befitting reply but I kept quiet not wanting any interruption in the inauguration of NGO.
"Aap ko ky.." Mishti was ready to fight but I held her hand, and said no to her through the eyes,
"Mere Bhai aise nah.." Aarav started,
"Aarav stop. Let's get out" I looked at him and gave him just shut the fuck up look.
"Tum jaise aurto.." started Myra,
"Myra chale bahar!"
We four got out of the room, all three started to fire at me because I didn't say a word and didn't even let them.
"Kya karte tum? Kya kehte?" I blurted out frustrated
"Me unhe batati ki mera pati unn mardo me se nahi hai jo unke darwaje pr aate hai. Mere pati jitna accha insaan unhone apne pure zindagi me nahi dekha hoga" my wife yelled at me, she practically wanted to say that to the ladies inside the room but I didn't let her.
"Aapne hume bolne kyu nahi diya? Aur khud bhi kuch nahi kaha. Koi bhi aira gaira aake mere Bhai ke character pr sawal utha kar jaega aur me chup rahu? To mere Bhai hone ka koi fayda nahi hai!" That was from Aarav.
"Me to ladai me number one hu mujhe bhi bolne nahi diya.." said Myra
Honestly they are angry at me now but I am feeling happy. Contented that I have got such a supporting people in my life, they can fight for me.
"Vo sab chodo yaar idhar aao," saying I embraced Mishti and pulled the other couple in the hug.
"Mujhe nahi pata tha tum log mere liye ladd bhi sakte ho!" I said as we broke our hug, we all just chuckled. Jugnu came to tell us that everyone has gathered and all are waiting for Mishti.
I asked Aarav to go ahead with his wife as I noticed that Mishti started to panic, her hands were shivering.
"Relax. Breathe Jaan. Just breathe!"
"How am I going to give that speech in front of so many people... I can't.. Abir can we skip the speech part?"
She has a stage fear, that was clear.
"Relax breathe.. breathe.. no one is there... it's empty.. just family members hai..." I lied. I was continuously rubbing her palms, her arm to calm her down. She became a bit normal,
"You can talk to me right?"
"Hmm"
"When you are on stage just look at me and stare into my eyes straight. Forget that anyone else exists. Just remember that I am proud of you! You have achieved a lot... ok?" She hummed in response unsure about herself.
I took her in a hug a tight one, she leaned into me letting her fear out,
"Everything will be good!" I whispered to her breaking the hug,
"You can do it yaar! Me aise hi tumhe Braveheart nahi kehta" she smiled at me gaining a little confidence. Planting a kiss over her forehead we walked to the stage together. I helped her to climb the stairs, when I turned to leave she didn't leave my hand.
"Kaha Jaa rahe hai?"
"Yahi hu nicche. So that you can look in my eyes!"
"Hmm"
"All the best and smile Braveheart!" And she flashed her beautiful smile to me.
Walking down I was supposed to stand closer to the stage, but if I stand here she will look down at me and people will think she can't talk with her head straight up so I moved back till I was in the middle of the whole crowd. The people around were literally pushing me away it was too much crowd but I stood there firm knowing I had to be her confidence.
Her eyes found mine, I pressed my eyes to give her assurance and strength. I messaged Aarav to get a video of Mishti's speech.
"A very good evening to all of you present here." That was her first statement, she will slowly gain confidence, her eyes were glued to mine. I was smiling looking at her, cheering her
"As we all know we are here for NGO inauguration. It might be another normal NGO for you all but for me it has been a dream.. a dream since I was teenager.. usually teenagers have a dream of becoming doctor engineer astronaut but I had a dream of giving shelter to those people who needed help, the womans whom society won't accept, the kids who were abandoned by thier parents or family. Anyways this NGO will always be open to anyone who needs help. We are always there for you! Enough of the boring speech, it's time to cut the ribbon.." all the time her eyes never left mine. As if she was seeking comfort in my eyes. Breaking the eye contact she looked at the families standing near the stage. I know she is going to ask Maa and papa to cut the ribbon. I have just arrived in her life, I don't hold as much importance as her parents.
"I want the three most important men of my life to cut the ribbon.." she announced. For sure it's Papa and Bhai. But I thought she would ask maa also, and who the heck is the third man? Who is he jisse me nahi jaanta?
"First, Papa. Sapne dekhne ki himmat mujhe papa se mili hai. Papa ne sikhaya ki sapne dekhna galat nahi hai.. insaan ko sapne dekhne chahiye aur unhe pura bhi karna chahiye..." she was looking at papa all the time smiling while papa was proud of his daughter. That look on Papa's face was genuine, it was not a act.
"Second saurabh Bhai, ek meeting aisa nahi thi jisme me akeli gayi hu, har meeting me, har jagah Mera saath Diya hai Bhai ne.." she is lying. Bhai did not accompany her in one meeting. Bhai too looked proud of his sister, if everyone is being genuine here where is the problem? Why does Mishti feel loathed? They are genuinely happy for her, why does she feel this is fake?
I will look at it later, I want to know about the third person, who is the third most important man in her life and I don't know him. Does she have a best friend?
"Third..." her eyes again locked with mine, say it quickly or else I will die here with jealousy.
"My husband, Abir... Abir Rajvansh.."
WTF! I didn't know she was going to ask me to cut the ribbon. That's a big honour! I was jealous of my own self.
"Iss Khali jagah pr itna khubsurat NGO banane me inka bohot bada haath hai. Apne kisi hotel ke interior ke liye itni mehnat nahi ki hogi jitni humare NGO ke liye ki hai... he filled my dreams with colours"' She said staring at me. All I wanted was to go and embrace her but she is not comfortable. And more importantly nazar lag jaati hai.
As she walked down the stage I moved closer to her, I had to use all my energy to not kiss her.
"I am proud of you Braveheart!" I whispered to her as we moved closer to the door where the ribbon was tied.
Mishti handed the scissor to papa, he placed a hand over her head, planted a kiss over her forehead, lovingly and then took her hand in his to cut the ribbon together.
Papa then looked at me and Bhai asked us to join him, all four of us cut the ribbon together. Maa and papa stepped in first behind then Mishti did I get close to her again.
"Congratulations Meri Jaan!" She looked at me smiling,
"Thanks!"
"I wasn't expecting you to actually take my name."
"You did a lot for the NGO. And plus Abir Rajvansh is a brand that can help me get a lot of money"
"Seekh Rahi ho mere saath reh kar!" Someone came to talk to her, I glanced at bhabhi roaming around, I wish I could feed her the kheer from suryavansham but she is pregnant, why should the kid die.
I felt a pull on my kurta, glancing at it was Sameera, I kneeled to her height and asked what she wanted.
"Chocolate!" She replied innocently.
"Agar aapki mummy ko pata chal gaya to dono ko daat padegi!" I replied keeping a little distance from her.
"Mummy se puch kar aayi hu!"
"Pakka?"
"Ha!"
"To ye lo!" I handed her the chocolate I gave her earlier, she ran away as she got what she wanted. I stood up and noticed my wife who went away to talk with someone
One of the ladies from the group of ladies sent by the government came to me smiling at the retreating figure of the child.
"Me Vanshika. Sameera ki maa"
"Aapko kuch chahiye?"
"Aapki maafi! Jo aap logo ko dekhna pada wo yaha nahi hona chahiye tha. Aur phir jo Rekha ne aapse baat ki wo bhi galat thi. Wo bss sameera ke liye thodi protective hai.. to usne keh Diya."
"Unhone kuch jyada hi keh Diya.." I was quite because it was most important day of Mishti's life I didn't wanted to spoil it otherwise I would have shown them what the Abir Rajvansh is.
"Aapne wo dialogue suna hai 'zoya hum gutter me pale hai, hum gutter me hi jeeyenge aur gutter me hi marenge.."
"Iska aapki baat se kya lena dena?" I heard it when Alexa was playing a Hindi song
"Hum gutter me pale the aur gutter me hi jee rahe the lekin kuch acche logo ne hume uss gutter me se nikal kar achanak se iss roshni bhari jagah pr rakh diya.. itne saalo ki wo gutter ki badbo yuhi thodi chali jayegi.. ek raat me hum doodh ke dhule to nahi ban sakte.. isiliye aapse aur aapki biwi se ye guzaarish hai ki humne galatiya ki hai aur aage bhi hongi bss uska bura mat maaniye. Un galtiyon ke liye me aapse pehle se hi maafi maang leti hu!"
"Me samajh sakta hu.. lekin umeed hai ki galtiya genuine ho jaanbhujkar nahi!" I don't talk much to others, so I cut the conversation by just one line. If I wanted I could have given her a long lecture but let's not waste time.
"Uska dhyaan rakhne ki zimmedari meri. Humare liye kuch kaam kyuki wo sab to ab yaha nahi chalega, hum aap pr bhoj nahi banna chahte"
"Do din baad meeting rakhi hai. Tab tak aaram kijiye" she left after thanking me. I wish she stays on her word. Searching for my wife she was with maa and some other lady, I was going to leave her alone to have some time for herself but then I saw bhabhi walking towards them so I was quick to stand beside my wife. I don't want anyone hurting her. If bhabhi says something I am seriously going to kill her. Thankfully she didn't say anything to Mishti, maa introduced me to another lady standing there, she was one of their relatives which I was definitely not interested in.
The event manager came to us saying that everything is ready, we just need to go and cut the cake. After that we have to do that speech thing. For the very first time I am very excited to give a speech. Of course I will be there for my wife. I made so many efforts on it. I have been writing it for the last one month.
We were standing at a long distance from the stage, but the event manager asked us to wait so that she could clear the line and we could walk as center of attraction.
"Do you like the decoration?"
"It's giving the vibe of Rajvansh. It looks so royal.."
"Hmm"
"What was she talking to you? Did she again say something like that?" She asked with less concern and more anger about Vanshika.
"No. Wo to waha maafi maangne aayi thi.."
"Aur aapne kya kaha?"
"Maine kaha thik hai" she gave me a you are unbelievable look.
"To aur kya kehta me?"
"Kuch to kehte sidha maan gaye.."
"She was genuinely sorry yaar.. besides humne meeting rakhi hai na do din me.. to unhe ye do din Jo karna hai karne do.. hum unse do din baad baat karenge.. hmm?"
"Hmm"
"Forget about them we are having a beautiful moment waiting for us. Tumne apni speech to tyaar ki hai na?"
"Speech? Yaha bhi speech deni hai? Don't tell me that.. I am so dumb.. sorry Abir but I don't have a speech ready and I don't even have the strength to go there up again and talk.."
"Relax Braveheart! Me to mazak kar Raha tha yaar.. aur tum serious ho gayi!" I lied not wanting her to panic or feel guilty.
"Pakka mazak tha na?"
"Ha!" I again lied to her keeping my feelings aside, manager indicated us to walk till the stage. I was about to loop my hand around her waist, but she wanted to circle her hand around my shoulder. As I kept my hand for her to encircle she tried to grab my palm.
Ahh! So much confusion!
"Wait!" Grabbing the end of her pallu I circled her pallu around her back and handed the end to her in front.
"What?"
"Ek second.." I picked her up in bridal style, and walked to the stage,
"Mazaa aata hai na aapko!"
"Bohot!" I replied as I smiled looking at the people around.
"Me itni halki hu kya? Ki aap asie hi utha lete hai jaise me bacchi hu?"
"I just realised ki tumhara vajan sach me bohot Kam hai. You need a proper diet. After all this we are going to a nutritionist" there were fireworks going on by side of us because of which flinched it bit as it blew up suddenly. "Relax. I am not going to drop you!"
"What the fuck? You could have said something sweet that was mean" she replied ignoring my recent words instead of focusing on them she just heard the proper diet sentence.
"Do you think I am those of your men in a book who just speak everything sweet to their wives and keep them off the reality? No! This could be a problem for you in future" everyone around was hooting for us while we both were busy having an important talk.
"Shut your rude mouth up!"
I let her stand on her feet, as we got near the cake where all the family members were waiting for us.
Bhabhi stood beside My Wife, I indicated Aarav to come and stand beside Mishti but he was confused why I wanted him to do that. I gave him a 'just do it you gorilla' look and he came forward with a reason for clicking pictures. As he stood beside Mishti creating a rift between my wife and bhabhi I sighed in relief. I really don't want that woman to even stand close to my wife.
We cut the cake together, we both fed each other the very first bite of the cake smiling at how our journey was. We then fed the cake to remaining of our family members, for a change Mishti took a step and fed the cake to Myra, Myra being the playful girl she is, applied a little amount of cake on Mishti's cheek.
Mishti looked at me with 'see, this is why we don't go well' because she hates wasting food, this applying cake on someone's face is what she hates like I hate bhabhi.
Everyone was busy talking, feeding cake to each other so I used the chance Myra gave me, I wiped the cake off my wife's cheek with my thumb and then tasted it.
"That's better Braveheart!"
"Shut up!"
Out of the blue bhabhi came to us, I looked at Mishti wanting to kill her sister in law but Mishti just pressed her eyes asking me to control.
"Agar tum dono ka hogaya hai to me thodi der ke liye Mishti ko le jau?" Asked bhabhi, ohh she acts so well.
"Nahi!"
"Kyu?" Came a question of the woman I hate the most.
"Mujhe meri biwi humesha mere saath chahiye!"I said firmly pulling my wife close to myself, glancing at her she was already looking at me,
"I am never going to get enough of her!" I said looking in her eyes, as her smile broadened mine reflected hers. Bhabhi went away as she was left speechless.
The stage was cleared as we had met everyone now and clicked pictures with them and got gifts which we may never even open. I never unbox the gifts, that excitement in me is killed. And I think that's too immature. Some relatives, some business related people kept arriving at us, congratulating us, complimenting us, giving us the gifts, having a short convo with us, clicked pictures and then left.
I tried to involve Mishti in every conversation I had with others so that she doesn't feel like the third wheel or left out.
Maasi came up to us, I argued with over for being late to which she just apologized to us. As we took her blessings she said "sada suhagan raho!"
"Ye to uske liye ho gayi blessings mere liye?"
"Tumhe hi indirectly aashirvad Diya Maine. Tumhari Umar lambi ho karke!"
"Ha aapke aashirvad se meri umar lambi hogi na meri biwi ki nahi. Aise lambi umar ka kya fayda jisme meri biwi mere saath na ho!" She understood what I was trying to say so she corrected her mistake saying "Dono jindagi bhar saath raho!" she handed the gift to us and walked away
One of my phoi came to us congratulating us, I know she was living in our house maa told me about that. I asked maa to not include her in the guest list but maa being maa forced me to do so.
"Beta ek baat kahu tumhe isse acchi biwi mil sakti thi"
"Par mujhe yahi chahiye thi phoi!"
"Tum dono ki height me bhi kitna farak hai. Bechari ki height bhi bohot kam hai"
"Haa to accha hai na jab bhi mujh se baat karegi sir utha kar karegi"
"Lekin tujhe to sir jhukana padega na!"
"Ha to apni biwi ke saamne sir jhukane me kaise sharam? Aur mujhe humara yahi height difference bohot accha lagta hai' I said looking at my phoi silently warning her to not say anything more against my wife.
"Aadmi ko sirf apni maa ke saamne sir jhukana chahiye!"
"Meri life me maa, ketu aur Mishti teeno ki importance same hai. Kisi ki Kam ya kisi ki jyada nahi hai"
"Apni biwi ko itna sir pr mat chadha.."
"Aapki problem kya hai phoi? Aap apni life me dekhiye na aapke bete ka kisi ek ladki ke saath..." Mishti held my hand trying to stop me.
"Dekha..." I showed her Mishti holding my hand
"Ye mujhe aapse aise baate karne se mana kar Rahi hai. Aapki bahu hai ye. Meri Biwi aapko izzat de ye aapki expectations hai lekin aap meri biwi ki izzat nahi karengi! Ye kya baat hui phoi!" I controlled the decibel of my voice knowing there are people around. She walked away from there, being upset with the way I talked with her honestly I am not sorry for it at all.
My wife looked at me grinning,
"Kya?"
"Mujhe nahi pata tha aapko humara height difference pasand hai!"
"Bohot! Mujhe to tum bhi sar se pao tak Puri ki Puri pasand ho!" She blushed for a simple comment,
"Aur ye kya meri biwi, meri biwi you don't leave a chance to claim me ha!"
"Ho to tum meri hi biwi ho aur meri hi rahogi agle 700 Janam tak."
"So sure?"
"Tumhare kanha ji hume alag karke to dikhaye! Unse ho hi nahi payega!"
"Shut up. Juban pr din me do baar sarswati baithti hai"
"Ha to tab baithe na jab Maine kaha ki hum agle 700 Janam tak saath rehenge"
"Why are you suddenly challenging all the gods? Just shut up!"
"Jaisa aap kahe begum sahiba!" I saw Phoi talking with maa, she is definitely complaining about me.
A few guests came over the stage to meet us and then left. Rihaan along with the family came to us, that was a surprise because I thought he wouldn't come.
"Ruhani, how are you? Aur ye humari princess kaise hai?" I handed the little kid the chocolate I had,
Ruhani handed me a gift,
"Iski kya zaroorat thi? Tum log aa gaye na wahi bss hai"
"Me to Khali haath hi aa rahi thi ye soch kar ki jiske pass already sab kuch hai usse kya hi Dena!" She said indicating at Mishti as my Sab kuch. I liked fhe idea. But let's get real there are other people in my life too who matters to me. So I can't give her the nick name 'sab kuch'.
"Phir ye gift kyu le kar aayi tum?"
"Wo Rihaan ne kaha ki Khali haath nahi jaate!"
Rihaan was quite all the time so I had a talk with Ruhani and her child. I invited her to the satyanarayan Pooja at Aarav's house, she is a social person married to an anti-social person.
"Khana khaake jaana dono teri pasand ke gulab jamun bhi hai!" I said to Ruhani who got excited hearing gulab jamun, her husband smiled at her excitement. As they walked away my wife glanced at me,
"Aap dono bohot jyada close lagte hai? I mean aap aise hi kiske saath tu tadak se baat nahi karte"
"Dost hai meri! Are you jealous Braveheart?"
"Nahi. Me uss tarike se nahi keh rahi Abir. Aap dono ko saath me dekhti hu to kuch alag lagta hai.. me ye nahi keh rahi ki aap dono mil kar mujhe cheat kar rahe ya something but it feels different.."
"Tell me kya different lagta hai I will try to clear your thoughts.." I don't want any misunderstandings between both of us. A small misunderstandings are enough to break one relationship.
"I don't know, maybe aap usse tum keh kar baat karte hai isiliye.."
"Meri Jaan, dost hai wo meri isiliye tum kehta hu. Aur most important bhabhi hai wo meri! It's just ki uski zindagi, rihaan, unka baccha, me aur ek do dost chod kar koi nahi hai.. that's why she is very close to me. Don't think otherwise.."
"I know I just.."
"No. Other. Women. Is. Going. To. Take. Your. Place. In. My. Life. Ever." I said each word firmly and clearly. Knowing she doesn't believe in promises but believes in words. She just smiled at me, she might be feeling that way because Ruhani is the first woman other than family, with whom I am normal otherwise I behave like The Abir Rajvansh with everyone.
Why is he here? I told Aarav to not send him invitation at all. Aarav really needs some scoldings!
It was one of our business client who was a Playboy, he eye fucks every woman he sees
before he could approach us I walked to him,
"Meri biwi se das feet dur rehne! Aur apni ye palake utha kr meri biwi ki taraf dekha bhi na to tumhari aakhon me sulfuric acid dal dunga samjhe!" I whispered to him before we walked to my wife standing at a little distance from us.
"Aankhein neeche!" I warned him and he followed loving his eyes more. He didn't even look at Mishti or even touch her he just wished us quickly and was about to leave but I stopped him and said
"Agar meri ghar ki kisi aur aurat ki baare me socha na to ussi acid ke tub ne dooba kar maar dunga!" I said to him again in low voice he left the event in a second knowing I was capable of doing what I said!
"Ye kya tha? He didn't even look up" My wife asked looking at me, confused by his behaviour,
"Uski aankhein kharab hai!"
"Bechara!"
"Hmm bohot bechara hai! Isiliye to usse chalne me help karne Gaya tha me!"
"Ha accha Kiya!"
It's good she thinks this way, she shouldn't know all this.
Mr Goenka walked to us along with his daughter, I just put up a fake smile because his daughter always throws herself at me. I snub her every time. All of their meetings are handled by Aarav because of that reason.
Mr. Goenka wished both of us first, I introduced them to My wife and then told Mishti about our business relationship.
"Aap shaadi shuda dikhte nahi hai kisi bhi angle se. Mujhe to bachelor hi lagte the!" Said Miss Goenka I was about to give her a good reply but my wife spoke
"Maine kaha tha inse ki mangalsutra pehen ke aur sindoor bhi laga le. Ye sunte hi nahi hai! Har baat bhul jaate hai!" I just smiled as Mr. Goenka did at my wife's sarcasm.
"Kisi din apni biwi ko hi na bhul jae!" Miss Goenka taunted in a joking manner,
"Me apni biwi ko dementia hone pr bhi nahi bhulunga Miss Goenka! Ha lekin aap jaiso ko bhulane ke liye dementia hone ki zaroorat bhi nahi hai" I answered smiling in the way she did earlier,
"Shuru ho gaye dono!" Mr. Goenka said smiling as he feels we are just joking around, I wish he knew what his daughter's real intention were. I have made it clear to her since the day I got engaged that there is no chance but still she doesn't get it. Even earlier I was never interested in her but I had to handle her because her father was sort of support to my company. Mr. Goenka handed the gift to me,
"Iski koi zaroorat nahi thi aap aagaye yahi bss hai.. infact aap time nikal kar aaye that really means a lot" he is a really busy person and his age is almost 70 years. He still works, goes to his office daily, attends all his meeting, looks into everything minutely by himself.
I learned many tricks about the business from him. Once he told me to not get a tender because it will cause loss in future but I still did it anyways, I got profit at earlier stage then everything turned upside down later. That day I understood all this elder people when they say something we should follow because it's not them speaking it's thier experience speaking to us.
From then till now I haven't did anything that he says no to. I listen to him always when it's about business.
"Gift nahi Mera aashirvad hai beta!" He said smiling,
"Thanks!" I said as I handed the gift to the helper behind. The photographer asked us to stand, as obvious Mr. Goenka should have stood beside me and Miss Goenka beside my wife, but she had to cling to me here too. She stood beside me trying to get her hand circled around mine but I just pulled my hand away from her and kept it over my stomach to avoid any type of touch with her.
"I am better than her in many ways!"
"You are better!" There was a little smile over her face, feeling she is getting me in her trap
"But my wife is the best!" I whispered smirking at her, as the photographer was done, Mishti looked at me indicating me to get Mr. Goenka's blessings together, as we took his blessings he blessed us saying stay together for whole life. I like people who give this type of blessings otherwise there are people saying sada suhagan raho to the women what about me?
"Bhag khul gaye tumhare Abir beta!" Said Mr. Goenka we just smiled at him,
"Thank you sir!"
"Thank you mujhe nahi, Meenakshi ji se kaho! Warna tumhe itni acchi biwi to kabhi nahi milti!" He said smiling at us. I mean everyone roasts me, meri koi izzat hi nahi hai meri biwi ke saamne. Office me kisi ki himmat nahi hoti meri taraf dekhne ki bhi aur yaha!
One of my doctor friends came up on stage to meet us as Mr Goenka walked down,
"Meet him Rabbit, Atharv Deshpande, he is one of the best doctors in our city and he treats the people we knock out!" Mishti's expression changed for a mili second, then she was back to her good smiley face.
"Atharv, she is my wife, Mrs. Mishti Abir Rajvansh!" I like taking her full name. I like how her name is joined with my name it sounds so good to me. It gives me mental peace to know she is mine.
"I have seen you somewhere.." Atharv tried to recollect as he glanced at my wife.
"Maybe at some hospital.."my wife tried to help him recollect,
"Yeah can be!" He replied still not sure where he had seen my wife. As he got done with his work he walked away,
"Why did you go to hospital?" I enquired my wife,
"For a.. blood checkup.."
"You are fine right?"
"Ha!"
"Then why did you face change when you saw Atharv?"
"It was not because I saw him, I am actually tired of all this can we get down?"
She asked still sounding a little worried and unsure,
"Ok. As you wish!"
When we got off the stage, I noticed Aarav and Myra dancing,
"Look at them!" I said as we both sat down on the chairs around the round table,
"They are looking too good.. wait let me take a video of them.." grabbing my phone I recorded those two happily dancing with each other while laughing at each other's silly jokes.
"They look good together!"
"I know. Mere Bhai hai hi itna accha.."
"Aapka Bhai! To kya humari ladki kuch Kam hai? 4440 volt ka bulb leke dhundoge na tab bhi nahi milegi Myra se acchi ladki!"
We were back in our roles of samdhi samdhan, what good role play idea it is.
"Chahiye bhi nahi thi.."
"To shaadi kyu ki phir!"
"Ab kya kare humare ladke ko pasand to yahi aayi.. nikamma kahi ka isse hazar guna acchi ladki dhund kar Lata me uske liye.."
"Ek kaam kijiye humari beti se acchi ladki dhund kar dikhaiye.."
"To kya karenge aap?"
"Uss ladki se baat karungi aur aapki usse shaadi Kara dungi.. mujhe bohot pareshan karte hai Aaj kal aap.."
"Arey ye Hui na baat samdhan ji.. ladki to tyaar hai aap bss usse baat kar lijiye rukiye me aapko photo dikhata hu.." she was left speechless, as she thought I would say something sweet about her but I was ready with some other girl.
Opening my gallery I showed her one of the picture I took of her from the Aarav's wedding..
"Acchi hai na ladki?"
She blushed looking at her own picture, "kyu shaadi karni hai isse aapko? Isme itna khaas kya hai?"
"Ye puchiye ki kya nahi hai iss ladki me. Sarvgun sampann hai ye. Aur khana to kya banti hai, itna accha khana to maine aaj tak kabhi nahi khaya.."
"Khane ka kya hai? Wo to koi bhi bana leta hai! Kuch khaas ho to bataiye"
"Sarcasm! Hayee! Inki issi adaa pr to hum fidaa hai! Hume kabhi bore nahi hone deti.." she was enjoying listening to her own appreciation. Staring in her eyes k l got serious
"Tumhari aankhein bohot bolti hai chaand, tumhare hothon se bhi jyada baate karti hai ye mujh se. Tumhari muskurahat pr dil aa gaya hai Mera, Mann karta hai ki iss saari duniya ka kaam chod kar bs tumhe kiss karta rahu.. tumhe apni baaho me sammet lu aur bhul jao ki koi aur duniya bhi hai...
Tumhare baalo ki kuch laate jo tumhe baar baar pareshan karti hai unme uljhana hai mujhe.." I said as I tucked those few strands of her hairs behind her ear.
"Tum jab bhi lipstick lagati ho na.. mujhe jalan hoti hai.. mann karta hai ki iss lipstick ko bigad du aur usse batau ki inn hontho pr sirf Mera haq hai..
Jab bhi me kuch kehta hu aur tum blush karti ho to Mera dil jor se dhadkane lagta hai..." I could feel my heartbeat rising as her cheeks turned pink.
"Me jab bhi tumhare in khubsurat baalo gajra lagata hu to alag sa sukoon milta hai mujhe..
Aur in sab ke baad jab tumhare gale me mere naam ka mangalsutra dekhta hu, maathe pr mere naam ka sindoor dekta hu to yakeen nahi hota ki partner ne tumhe... tum jaise special ladki ko Meri zindagi me bheja hai. Apni hi kismat pr yakeen nahi hota mujhe" I stared into her eyes finding the same affection for me, few whistles brought us back to the present and it was none other than Gorilla with his wife. They were listening to us, fuck! But I am not embarrassed because all this was added in my speech I was going to day it in front of the whole world, which probably didn't happen because of my wife.
"Wahh Bhai mujhe nahi pata tha ki aap itne romantic hai!" Aarav uttered as he came closer to us, glancing at my wife she was busy blushing and smiling hearing all this. I wish I could have said my speech aloud. I wanted the world to know that she is mine and I am hers. I wanted them to know how lucky I am to have her in my life, how she brings happiness in life, how she filled colours in black, blue and white life, how she is the one I want to be with till my last breath...
I just couldn't! I imagined our anniversary in a whole different way, and something else is happening here well I am happy anyways, but the whole scenario I created in my mind is ruined.. and I can't even say a word about it.
Aarav and his wife kept teasing us, so I stood up and ran behind Aarav to beat him,
"Bohot jyada bol Raha hai tu ruk.."
"Sorry.."
"Tu to gaya!" I increased my speed and eventually I got him, I was about to punch him but he said
"Aaj hi to shaadi Hui hai aur aap Aaj hi maroge accha lagega kya?"
"I don't care!"
"Aaj suhagraat hai meri, Myra ke saath please.."
"Fuck off" I punched him in his stomach but lightly. And was about to give him another but bigben came in giving us those big eyes look asking us to stop our stupidity as there are guests still around. Leaving him I straightened my kurta and we both walked back to the table where everyone was around. I asked Aarav to go back to his home as it's their first night but he just didn't listen.
"Maa, me aur Mishti Aaj Ghar nahi aayenge!" I said walking to maa,
"Kyu?"
"Wo hum dono.. humne Jo Naya Ghar liya hai waha Jaa rahe hai." Her face expression changed from anger to fear.
"Waha kyu jaana hai?"
"Thoda time akele spend karna chahte hai hum"
"Ha to Rajvansh sadan ka sabse bada kamra tumhara hai.. aur doors bhi sound proof hai..use it"
"Maaa!" She was being too bold to say that,
"Akele time spend karne ke liye Ghar chodne ki kya zaroorat hai.. tum kaho to hum chale jaate hai ya phir dono kahi bahar ghum kar aao"
"Ha to isiliye to naye ghar me Jaa rahe hai na.."
"Cut that Abir! Tumhe bahar ghoomne Jana hai jao pr tum uss Ghar me nahi jaoge.."
"Kyu? Uss Ghar me kya problem hai?"
"Aaj ek din ke liye jaoge, kal do din ke liye, parso ek hafte ke liye aur phir ek time aayega jab humesha ke liye chale jaoge.."
"Maa maa relax.." I gave her a glass of water, I am now understanding her point of view. She feels we will leave Rajvansh sadan and live separately. Getting on both of my knees I took her hand in mine and looked at her.
"Bharosa hai mujh pr?"
"Ye kya baat Hui? Ha hai!"
"I promise me humare naye ghar me sirf mahine me ek baar hi jaunga. Usse jyada nahi.. aapka Ghar tutega nahi maa.. me aapki mehnat aise hi waste nahi hone dunga.."
"Sure?"
"Hundred percent. Aap, ketu, Nanko, Kuhu sab ko Aise hi chod kar thodi jaunga.. aap sab meri family hai aur meri liye bohot important ho... I know me aap sab ko itna time nahi deta lekin iska matlab ye nahi ki aap log mere liye koi maaine nahi rakhte.. I need you all in my life.. jab ketu mujh se gussa thi to Roz suffocating feel hota tha mujhe just imagine aap logo se dur chala gaya to Mera kya hoga.. me aur Mishti kahi nahi jaa rahe.. I promise!" It was necessary to make her understand that I am not leaving her, otherwise she will over think like me and that will eventually increase her sugar level.
"Ye kya? Itni si baat pr aap ro Rahi hai! Yaha kisine dekh liya na to aapka khauf khatam ho jayega!" I said while wiping her tears, as I stood on my feet she was quick to get back to her resting face.
"Aap kuch khayenge?"
"Ha. Me cake khaungi leke aaiye mere liye.." answered Ketu who just sat on the chair beside maa.
"Ketu!" Maa tried to scold her with her big eyes,
"Rehne dijiye maa! Me leke aata hu!" While moving I caressed Ketu's hair because of which she got a little irritated.
Grabbing the cake from the counter, I was going back to Ketu when bhabhi came to me asking for Mishti, I had enough of her nonsense. She needs to be treated. So I dragged her inside so there were no people around,
"Abir mujhe Mishti se baat karni hai!"
"Lekin mujhe aap se baat karni hai!"
"Kaho na!"
"Kaise baat karti hai aap meri biwi se?"
"Acchi tarike se to karti hu!" She said behaving all innocent.
"Me jaanta hu aap kya hai aur kaise hai ye natak band kijiye.."
"Mishti ne bataya tumhe?"
"Usne nahi bataya, aapne khud bataya Maine ek baar call receive Kiya tha aapka Mishti ke phone pr"
"Wo sab mazak tha Abir..."her face changed,
"Aap ek baat sun lijiye acche se agar algi baar aapne kuch kaha mere biwi se to aapka parivar raaste pr laa kar chod dunga"
"Pr Abir.."
"Aur ha, aapke maike ka parivar raaste pr aayga kyuki Maheshwari's meri biwi ka parivar hai"
"To me bhi to parivar hu na!"
"Parivar? Seriously iska matlab bhi samajhti hai aap?"
"Abir me ..."
"Aapka phone tap karvaya hai Maine agli baar aapne meri biwi se badtameezi ki to uska saza aapke parents aur aapke Bhai ko milegi aur aise milegi ki suicide karne ke sivaye koi option nahi bachega!"
I walked past her but then remembered something was left, so I turned towards her
"Agar ye baat kisi aur ko pata chali to aapka divorce karake hi maanunga! Mishti ko iske baare me pata nahi chalna chahiye agar pata chal gaya to aap gayi" she stood there stiffened not knowing what to say,
"Aur ha Meri biwi se maafi maang lijiye!" Completing I turned and walked forward only to halt noticing my wife,
"Aap yaha bhabhi ke saath kya kar rahe hai?"
"Cake! Cake khilne aaya tha bhabhi ko!" I said as we both walked ahead together.
"Jisse aap kal maarna chahte the Aaj usse cake khila rahe hai?" Asked my chatur wife.
"Ha. You know dushman se bhi dosti karni chahiye" I handed the cake to Ketu, while she threw a tantrum about me taking too much time to get the cake, everyone was busy dancing, glancing at my wife I asked her "Dance?" I was pretty sure she won't say a no to couple dance because she did it last time with me.
"Hmm!"
Grabbing her hand in mine we walked to the stage created for dance, as the song played dil diya gallan we both started to move at our own speed, eyeballing at each other, neglecting the enclosing people. My hand over her waist moved in its own accord as I loved the feeling of her goosebumps.
Twirling her, I pulled her back to me, as her back pressed in my chest,
"Kya soch Rahi ho?"
"Yahi ki aapne bhabhi se kya kaha!"
"Meri Jaan! This is our moment just live it! Don't think of anyone else than your handsome husband!"
As we continued to dance she was smiling throughout the dance, enjoying the moment and thinking less of a not needed creature of earth.
Everyone around clapped as we finished, we just gave them a smile and walked back to the table. We had a talk with Maheshwari's, and Ketu came in between asking,
"Chocolate hai?"
"Hmm" grabbing a chocolate from my pocket I handed it to her knowing it's her favourite one. I brought chocolates before the event as I knew there would be many kids present in the event.
She being the antique creature sat over the table, she was not able to open it, so I took it from her hand, opened the wrapper and fed her a bite of the chocolate as I continued my talk with vishambhar papa.
I kept feeding her the chocolate piece by piece but then I noticed her looking at something intently, following her gaze she was staring at Aarav and Myra. Papa too noticed it, to not make it more obvious I handed it chocolate back to her
"Ketu jaa jaake event manager se puch aur kitne guests bache hai? Aur usse keh ki program jitni jaldi ho utni jaldi khatam kare"
"Rukiye thodi der baad jaati hu!"
"Abhi Jaa! Jaldi Jaa!" She walked away muttering something bad about me. I didn't care about that, what I cared about was her image. Her staring at Aarav and Myra could create a wrong image in Vishambhar Papa's point of view. It doesn't take a lot of time for a rumour to be spread about a girl. She is still the kid which I used to take care of. For me she is never going to grow up, she will always be the kid for me.
Many things are changing today, papa was himself talking more with me otherwise he would just have a small talk with me and leave but today he is going on and on forgetting he hates me.
Mishti came to us asking about Sanjay and Meera, calling them and he said Meera suddenly got sick so they had to cancel the plan.
Mostly guests left the party, the ladies in NGO were allotted their rooms, I was busy with the very few guests that were left and once I they departed I searched for my wife, yeah there she is! Wait she is with Miss. Goenka. That woman I don't trust her at all. Striking to them I heard her questioning my wife "So how does it feel to get married out of your league?"
"Bohot accha! Itna ki me apni Khushi me aapko bata nahi sakta Miss Goenka!" Getting close to my wife I erased the little distance between us sliding my arm around her waist.
"Aisa lagta hai ki zindagi me zaroor kuch acche karm kiye honge jo itni paak biwi mili hai!" Miss. Goenka walked away feeling insulted I glanced at my wife she definitely had a lot of questions
"Is she behind you?"
"Sort of!"
"What about you?"
"I am behind you!"
"That's how it should be!"
"Shukriya!"
"Waise paak ka matlab kya hai?"
"Pure holy innocent!"
"Aap kuch jyada hi urdu nahi bol rahe Aaj kal?"
"Ek Naya contract liya hai aur uss company ka owner Muslim hai so unke saath uthna baith na hota hai to thodi bohot urdu Sikh leta hu!"
"It's fine but aapko nahi lagta ye Miss Goenka ka kuch karna chahiye. Ye aise kyu hai? Iske pita ko pata hona chahiye ki unki beti kaise hai how does he even tolerate all this!"
"Apne baccho ki galatiya dikhai nahi deti Braveheart! Plus Miss Goenka ne apni life me bhi bohot kuch Saha hai! Me unhe defend nahi kar raha bs bata Raha hu. Me humesha Miss Goenka se chaar kadam dur hi rehta hu!"
"4 feet dur rahiye Miss Goenka se!"
I asked Bhai to take bhabhi home as quickly as possible making a reason of her being pregnant, I didn't want to see her face.
Mishti sat on the chair beside me, pressing her shoulder with her own hand. It might be hurting her, she is too tired, so getting up I stood behind her and started to massage her shoulders, she sighed in relief.
"That feels so good!" She said her muscles relaxed by my massage. Aarav came to us with his wife asking to join in for a selfie,
"Halat dekho humari Aarav!" Complained my wife but
"Nayab lag rahi ho!" I complimented her but she still made faces, we didn't hear her we just posed for the picture, she eventually gave in and smiled. We definitely clicked the pictures without a filter as we both husband and wife don't prefer pictures with filters.
"Send me!" All three of us said as he completed taking pics
"I am creating a WhatsApp group of four of us!" He said working over what he said,
"That would be the most chaotic group ever!" I said very well knowing how chaotic the four of us are.
"Group ka naam?" He asked us,
"Rakh de kuch bhi, it doesn't matter!"
"Zindagi na milegi dobara!" Came a suggestion from Myra,
"Hum saath saath hai!" It was a suggestion from my wife,
"Befikre!" Replied Myra,
"Hum hai rahi pyaar ke!" -mishti
"Ram Leela" - Myra
"Chalte chalte" - Mishti
"Dostana" -Myra
"Waqt humara hai" - Mishti
"Total dhamaal" - Myra
"Socha na tha" - Mishti
Me and Aarav looked at each other and said together
"Humne shaadi kyu ki?" Only to receive slap on our arms from our respective wives.
He shamelessly named the group 'humne shaadi kyu ki' and shared the pictures. I asked him to share all the videos he took today, as I wasn't able to record my wife while she was giving the speech.
Soon the whole family sat together for dinner, the fact that everyone waited was heart warming. All of us had food together then we all took pictures together, separately, all types. After having food I thought to tease ketu so I wiped my hand with her dupatta to which she got angry looking at her anger maa offered me her pallu to wipe my hands even though my hands were clean why to leave the chance so I wiped my hands and mouth with maa's pallu.
"Tujhe Sabyasachi ka studio chahiye tha na gift me?"
"Ha!"
"Maine bohot socha ki tu studio ka kya karegi usme wahi purane designs honge koi Naya design nahi phir to ek din bore ho jayegi isiliye maine a
Sabyasachi se ek contract sign Kiya hai..."
"Aur wo kya hai?"
"Tu jab chahe tab Sabyasachi ka koi bhi piece order kar sakti hai, tujhe ekdum fresh piece milega tu usse pehen kar phir wapas lauta degi so that they can rent it or do whatever they want!"
"Isme Sabyasachi ka kya fayda hai Jo wo maan gaye?"
"We own a textile Jasmine. So we made it business deal!"
"You are the best!" Saying she embraced me quickly,
"Kuch der pehle to mujh pr gussa kar rahi thi!"
"Sorry!"
"Chal thik hai" she walked to tell this news to others while maa looked at me with you did it again look
"Kya zaroorat thi?"
"Wo khush hai maa!"
"Tum ketu ko bigad rahe ho!"
"Ha to aur kon bigade ga maa?"
"Itna bhi nahi bigadte Abir ki kal ko uska pati tumhara level match kar hi na sake!"
"Nahi kar sakta to meri behan se shaadi hi na kare"
"To kya zindagi bhar apni behen ko kunwari rakhoge?"
"Ha. Jab tak kisi ko dekh kar mujhe ye nahi lagta ye insaan ketu ko mujh se Jayda khush rakh sakta hai tab tak me ketu ki shaadi hone hi nahi dunga!"
"Phir to baitho aise hi koi nahi Milne wala!"
"Kyu nahi milega?"
"Ek kaam Karo Abir, tumhare aas paas jitne bhi shaadi shuda ladki ke pita hai unse jaa kar pucho ki kya wo apni beti ki shaadi karke khush hai? Kya unhe jaise chahiye tha waisa damad Mila? I guarantee ki 90 percent ka jawab 'nahi' hoga"
That was fucking deep, I didn't had any reply to it but still I can't just sit silent so I said "Then I will be in the rest ten percent"
"Koshish kar lo!"
"Aaj hi dekha na aapne Myra ke parents kitne khush the ki unhe Aarav jaisa damad Mila, aur me bhi to Mishti ko humesha khush rakhta hu!"
"Abhi abhi rakhne Lage ho. Isse pehle ke mahine bhul gaye kya hum? Waise Myra ke parents Myra ke saath kyu nahi rehte?"
"Wo Delhi waale hai na akad hai thodi unme unhone kaha ki wo Delhi nahi chodenge!"
"Thik hai lekin apni hi beti ki shaadi ki functions kaise Miss kar sakte hai? Unhe yaha hona chahiye tha apni beti ke function ke liye! Ya unhe apni beti se Jayda pyaara Delhi hai?"
"Nahi maa wo actually flights over booked thi!"
"To train se aa jaate! Ye bass bahana hai Abir"
"Jaane dijiye na maa. Hume kya karna hai wo kuch bhi kare!" She didn't say anything after that I noticed nanu talking with other person of his age so I walked to him and waited for the other person to leave, as that person left I looked at Nanu and questioned him,
"Jab aapne maa ki shaadi karayi thi kya tab aap khush the?"
"Bilkul bhi nahi. Tere pita jaise aadmi se me uski shaadi kabhi hone nahi deta lekin Teri maa ko pyaar hogaya tha to me bhi kya karta apni beti ki zidd ke aage haar maan li. Aur uss baat ka mujhe Aaj Tak pachytava hai."
"Aisa kyu nanu? Kya baba itne bure the?"
"Tu abhi bhi masoom hai Abir. Tu nahi jaanta ki Tera baap kaisa aadmi tha, jis din tujhe puri sacchai pata chalegi na uss din tu apne baap se nafrat karega"
"Kyu nanu? Aisa kya hua tha?"
"Wo to sharabi tha, na khud ko sambhal paya na apne parivar ko.. tu bs 6 mahine ka tha tab se meenu ne Rajvansh ka saara business sambhala hai. Bohot chota sa business tha jisse Aaj meenu ne itna bada kar Diya.. mujhe apni beti pr sach me garv hai.."
Ye sab to me already jaanta hu, to nanu ne Aisa kyu kaha ki baba se nafrat karunga? I know wo alcoholic the Ghar me koi Paisa nahi laate the but unhone kabhi mujhe nahi maara, maa tak ho kuch nahi Kiya.
Wo peete the but he never hurted anyone,
"Tera dada to achha hua jaldi mar gaya.. agar nahi Marta na to me apne haato se usse zehar de deta.."
"Kyu?" Because everytime I saw dada ji behaved good with maa infact he was too sweet with maa. Why is nanu hating dadaji then? Mere hi Ghar me itni saari chize hai jo mujhe hi nahi pata. Itne saalo se iss Ghar me rehne ka kya fayda hai?
"..taane taane Marta tha meenu ko wo!"
Nanu sluttered with his words giving me hints that he was definitely lying, but then why would he lie to me.
"Naanu aap thik hai?"
"Ha mujh jaise young man ko kya hoga tu apna dekh le budhai!"
I just smiled at him, understanding he was diverting the topic, I walked away from him while my mind raced of all the possibilities why naanu hates baba and dadji so much.
Maybe he is right on his place, his daughter has to work at home and at office too, her husband was of no use, instead of being an helping hand he was nothing but a bhoj over maa. And dada ji must have taunted maa which I don't know.
I get it now. As a father he is right at his place.
Kunal didn't drink today, that was a relief, I talked with him for a while. I want him to regret letting go the 10 percent share because of his behaviour that's why I have not organised a second competition yet. It was after a long time I had a nice talk with him. Maybe everything is finally falling in its place.
Mishti walked to me looking at me suspiciously,
"Kya kaha aapne?"
"Kis se?"
"Bhabhi se!'
"Kuch bhi to nahi"
"Jhoot mat boliye. Aap kuch der pehle bhabhi se baat kar rahe the!"
"Ha to maine bataya na me unhe cake khila Raha tha"
"You hate her! Aap unhe cake kyu khilayenge?"
"Wo tumse akele me baat karna chahti thi, aur me jaanta hu ki agar wo tumse akele me baat karengi matlab wo tumhe hurt karengi isiliye maine unse baat karli aur cake bhi khilaya!"
"Bhabhi ne aakar mujh se maafi mangi. Wo aise hi thodi karengi aisa"
"Maybe unhe unki galati ka afsoos ho!"
"Mujhe nahi lagta"
"Braveheart wo pregnant hai and pregnancy me realisation hote rehte hai logo ko!"
"Aisa bhi hota hai?"
"Ha. Pregnancy me unke pass do dimag hote hai na to double thinking. So unhe realise ho gaya hoga ki unhone tumhare saath galat kiya."
"Shut up ha. Do dimag vajera kuch nahi hota!"
"Jab ek pregnant lady khana Kam khati hai to hum usse kya kehte hai? Kha lo tumhe do pet ke liye khana khana hai." She nodded innocently,
"Agar do stomach ho sakte hai to do brain bhi to ho sakte hai na."
"Pr.."
"Ab baccha bajer dimag ke paida to nahi hoga na!"
"Hmm.."
Taking the advantage of her going into her thinking zone I changed the topic and talked with others.
Maa, papa went away, as did kuhu Kunal and others. I walked to ketu and maa, I helped maa sit in the car as I moved to Ketu's side, embraced her,
"Don't think too much. Aur waise bhi tere jaise princess ek gorilla se shaadi kare accha lagta hai kya? Frog hota to baat alag hoti, keh to sakte the ki kiss karne ke baad wo prince me transform ho jayega." She both just laughed at my PJ,
"Maybe brother's best friend wala trope nahi tha meri jindagi" she replied glancing at the newly wed who were busy having a talk with my wife.
"Brother's best friend wala trope bohot cliche ho gaya hai, tere liye kuch Naya dhundenge hum.."
"Kya?"
"Jab tere saath hoga to tujhe pata chal jayega, waise Aarav aur Myra ka konsa trope hai?"
"Grumpy and sunshine I guess"
"Ha to tu kisi ke jindagi ki moonshine hogi Jo uske andhere bhari jindagi me chaand ki tarah roshni layegi. Hmm?" She smiled looking at me relived, but I just said it to make her smile I won't get her married to a person jiske zindagi me andhera ho.
"Waise Mera aur Teri bhabhi ka konsa trope hai?" I enquired trying to divert her mind,
"Arrange marriage, forced proximity"
"Interesting! Kuhu aur kunal ka?"
"They both are crazy in love but I guess friends to lovers"
"Tujhe inn saare trope se accha trope milega. Don't lose hope" planting a kiss over her forehead,
"Ek baat kahu?"
"Tujhe permission ki zarurat nahi hai!"
"Mujhe lagta tha ki aapka aur bhabhi ka trope revenge ka tha!"
"Kyu?" I asked the most obvious question.
"Shaadi ke pehle, phir shaadi ke kuch mahino baad Tak bhabhi aapko bohot intently dekhti the as in she was planning to kill you!"
"Kya bakwas karti hai tu! Kuch bhi matlab!"
"Arey nahi Maine padha hai different type of stares. Aur bhabhi Aisa dekhti thi aapko ki kab unhe mauka mile aapka gala dabane ka.."
"Chal chal bohot ho gaya tu aur Teri psychology! Kuch bhi bakti rehti hai" I helped her sit in the car
and the first thing she did was remove her heels.
"Dekh Aaj to me nahi hu lekin mere room me study table ke aas pass kahi to maine massager rakha hai wo use karle!"
"Password?"
"Me WhatsApp karta hu tujhe!"
"Hmm!"
"Aur jaake ke so jaa phone mat dekhti reh!"
"Ha na!" Saying she pulled the car's door knowing I will lecture her otherwise. The driver started the car and they moved away, I stood there till the car was visible to my sight.
Mishti had a crush on me so she might be looking at me in that way but Ketu misunderstood. Vrna Mishti mujhe kyu maarna chahegi? Ya phir uss waqt wo mujh se upset rahi hogi. Kuch bhi bolti hai Ketu, Aarav ki shaadi ki wajah se uska dimag thoda hil gaya hai.
Sighing I walked to the three talking, they had few gifts for us.
"Ye gift aapke liye! Mera iss gift me koi haath nahi hai!" Said Myra as she forwarded the gift in her hand to Mishti and didn't take any responsibility of the gift Aarav was holding. Mishti was hesitant to take the gift from Myra but I pressed my eyes telling her to accept the gift. Aarav handed me a gift which I took without saying anything and kept it inside the car.
"Enjoy tonight!" They both blushed hearing that,
"Raat ko kaam ho Jana chahiye. Abhi se mehnat shuru kar do"
*Kis liye?" Myra asked innocently,
"Cricket team banane ke liye. Aarav always wanted to make a cricket team with all his children."
"Bhai aap bhi kya kab ki baate le kar baith gaye. We were drunk at that time! Aur nashe me insaan kuch bhi bakta hai.. I don't like kids"
"Tum dono itne utavale ho ki lagta hai shaadi ke pehle mahine me hi good news aa jayegi!" My wife teased them. They didn't blush or smile over the joke, that's not how Aarav behaves when we tease him. Something is wrong.
I noticed the dark colour of Myra's mehendi that reminded me of my wife's words.
"Myra, Aarav is really very affectionate towards you!"
"I know Bhai. That's why I married him!" Came an answer from the new bride.
"Why are you suddenly appreciating me?" Asked the gorilla not able to believe I said something good about him, cause we keep roasting each other.
"I am not appreciating you. Mishti told me darker the colour of mehendi more is the affection of your partner towards you. And Myra has got a dark brown colour so it means you are very affectionate towards her" Aarav bursted out laughing hearing my words,
"That's so silly. You believe in this!" He said, a weird laugh never leaving his face.
"It's true!" Replied his wife stopping his laugh but then he again did that.
"Seriously guys! It doesn't depend upon the skin type, body heat and all"
I didn't believe in it too but my wife does, that's enough for me to believe that too and moreover it's just a superstition that makes her happy so why not accept it for her sake.
Aarav glanced at the mehendi on his hand as his wife gave him an angry stare,
"See my wife loves me a lot!" He said showcasing how dark his mehndi was,
"Less than you love her!" My wife said without thinking twice as Myra's mehendi was too dark compared to Aarav's.
"It doesn't matter bhabhi! Even if she loved me very little I would be grateful to receive even that tiny amount of her love! I am still ok if she doesn't even love me. Moreover my love is enough for both of us." He answered back, I am honestly proud of him. He really treats Myra very well, the way I wished Kunal treated his wife, but that sick is just busy in drinking alcohol and ruining both of thier lives, I am tired of explaining everything to him.
"Let me be clear my sometimes sweet sadu, I love you a lot!" Replied Myra looking at her husband.
"Myra, jab tak Aarav apna naam tumhari mehendi na dhund le tab tak usse pass mat aane dena!"
"Thanks Bhai. Ye baat to me sach me bhul gayi thi! Ab to tum gaye sadu!"
"Ha ha dekh lenge! Naam to me yu dhund lunga!" Replied Aarav staring at his wife in a challenging and lustful tone.
"Ho gaya dono ka? Ab Ghar jaake yahi sab karna hai nikalo!" I didn't wanted to waste thier time, it's going to be there first night, that's a special time which I ruined by my own stupid acts.
That's why to make up for my mistake I made special arrangements in our new home, I want to relive the wedding night with my wife. I have got our bedroom decorated beautifully to make it more memorable, it's her first time and she shouldn't regret surrendering herself to me.
They drove to their home while I looked at my wife who was standing with her back resting at the door of the passenger seat of our car. Stepping closer to her, staring into her eyes, I rested my hand on the car above her head, I controlled my urge to kiss her knowing my future plans
"Aapne to mujhe bataya hi nahi ki me kaisa lag raha hu?"
"Bilkul mere!" She said staring at me dreamily,
"Hayeee! Hum to aapke hi hai!" I said as I kissed her forehead first then her cheeks.
"Chale!" She said breaking the moment as I was going to kiss her chin,
"Hmm!" As we sat in the car, she took off her heels, got her legs up on the seat, folded her legs got comfortable and started to remove the pins in her hair one by one.
"I will help you once we get home!"
"No. I can do it!"
"Hmm!"
"Are we going to our new home?" She questioned me as I changed the route,
"Hmm"
"Maa ko bataya?"
"Ha!"
"Good!"
"Rabbit I have something to say.."
"Don't create suspense!"
"I promised maa that we will go to our new home only once a month!"
"What why?"
"She was panicking, she thought we might shift to our new home leaving the Rajvansh sadan. She was really stressed I didn't want to give her any tension, I wanted her to be relaxed already her sugar level is reaching 400 I didn't think me saying something else would have calmed her" she didn't say anything instead she glanced outside the window,
"Braveheart listen please don't get mad. I said what came to the brain first. Please!"
"Fine! But we will spend two days once we go. Is that fine with you?"
"Yes. No problem, that's better"
"So that's the rule we go to Mishbir home once a month for two days!"
"Yes. We will follow it" she again looked out of the window,
"Rabbit are you still upset?"
"No not at all Abir!" She said meeting my eyes,
"Sure?"
"Ha. I can't fight with you for thinking about your mother. Whatever you did at that point was right. I could have said the same if put in your place.."
"Thanks for understanding me"
"Hmm"
"Ice cream khaogi?" I asked her as I halted the car in front of an ice cream parlour.
"We just had it at our event!"
"Ha to kya hua phir se kha lenge!"
"Get me hazelnut!"
"Hmm" I was quick to get ice cream for both of us,
"I am going to call the police!" I said, taking a bite of ice cream I got for myself. The look on her face changed, as if she was scared,
"Why?"
"Because you are planning to kill me!"
"That's stupid Abir! Believe me I am not planning anything like that.."
"You are planning it, begum Sahiba by wearing that saree, that jhumka, that lipstick, that little bindi, the scent of you. you are so fucking gorgeous you are killing me by your look's, your smile, that messy bun..."
"Stop it! Kitni tareef karenge Aaj pure din aapne sirf meri tarif hi ki hai!"
She said as her cheeks turned pink,
"Tum itni manmohak dikhti ho na ki jitni tarif ki jae utni kam hai."
"New word?"
"Hmm!" She took a bite from my ice cream abd her facial expressions were enough to tell me she liked my ice cream more.
"You know what let's exchange!*
"Why?"
"Because I don't like hazelnut"
"You like to try new things"
"Ha so this one failed and being my husband it's your duty to help me in every bad situation"
"So how can I help my wife stuck in a bad situation?" I asked as my eyebrows cocked up waiting for her answer
"By exchanging ice cream!"
She handed her cup to me and took my ice cream, sighing I had a bite of the hazelnut ice cream while another cheesy line hit me
"Itni meethi to hai ice cream!"
"I didn't feel that!"
"Tumne isse choo liya to ye apne aap meetha ho gaya"
I took another bite while she smiled saying, I don't know why was I being so cheesy
"Enough of your cheesy lines! I will kill you if you say any more cheesy words!"
She looked away from me, I was quick to slide my fingers through her hairs and pull her face to mine, keeping merely one inch difference between us, our nose touched, she froze shocked by the sudden moment and the close proximity
"You don't fucking know how much I have been controlling all day." I glanced at her lips and back at her eyes cause if I looked at her lips even for one more second I would lose the last string of control.
"Every time I looked at you I got hard. It's the final straw of my control that's saving you otherwise I will fuck you so hard in the back of the car that you won't feel yourself, let alone be legs!"
She tried to speak but nothing came out of her mouth, so I left my hold over her scalp and sat properly over my seat. I just behaved so out of my own character! Can't help it! It's her! Braveheart! Mishti! My wife! She is so gorgeous that I forget who I am and behave like a beast.
As I continued driving the car, Ketu's words kept roaming in my head unwanted. I know she must have mistaken Mishti's stare. Or maybe she is right like last time.
I don't want to commit the same mistake I did earlier, not trusting Ketu. But before she was sure about that now she just feels it. Glancing at my wife she was busyy finding a good song on the radio station, with her hairs left loose, to tease her and make me jealous. Her hairs are so lucky they get to be with her all the time, kiss her cheeks, fall on her shoulder like I like to pepper kisses over there, touching smooth back. Aahhh! I am jealous of her hairs! Seriously Abir!
Suddenly she asked me to stop at side,
"Why?"
"I need to go to cobbler!"
Glancing back there was a cobbler sitting with many new pairs of footwear in his small store.
"Cobbler! Did the heels I brought you torn?"
"No! Wait a second!"
She grabbed a plastic bag from back seat, revealing the pair of heels which ditched her in the baraat.
"I threw them!"
"So what? I got them back, I need to get them stitched. So that I can wear them later"
"Are you deranged?"
"No. You are!"
"What me?" She was wearing the heels I got for her so that she can walk out of the car.
"There's a bag below your seat!"
"What's this an aeroplane?"
"Just check it!" She did it and got the bag I kept for her.
"For me?" She questioned wearing the simple and comfortable jutti I got for her. I know she is not very comfortable with the heels so I bought a pair of jutti for her which I will keep in the car. Everytime she removes her heels she doesn't has to wear those again.
"Ketu ke liye thi!" I answered in the way she does.
"Get her another" She said before she could open the door and walk out. Having no option left I too climbed down the car and followed her. But I liked the way she showed her rights on me and asked me to get another for Ketu.
"Why do you want to wear them again?"
"Because I spent my money over it!"
She handed the broken heels to the cobbler, but he was busy staring at the car, the heels and us. Unsure if we really wanted to get the heels stitched.
"But it ditched you in the middle of road. And this can happen again! Don't you get it! Fine you spent money over it kitna spend Kiya tumne?"
She looked at the cobbler and yelled at him to do his work and not listen to our fights, then she looked at me crossing her arms around her chest and answered
"500!"
"Tum The Abir Rajvansh ki biwi ho! Agar tum har ghante bhi aise nayi chappal kharido gi to bhi agle 100 saal Tak paise khatam nahi honge!"
"Ye baat paiso ki nahi hai!"
"To kis chiz ki hai?"
"Bharose ki hai! Fine ki isne mujhe ek baar dhoka diya lekin ab me inhe sila kar le rahi hu ye ab dhoka nahi denge"
"I can't believe it. Jo ek baar dhoka de sakta hai vo dusri baar bhi vahi kar sakta hai!"
"Why are you so negative? Just imagine kisi insaan ne aapko dhoka diya to kya aap usse second chance nahi denge?"
"Nahi! Jo ek baar mera bharosa tod de me uss pr phir se bharosa nahi karta!"
"That's not how things work Abir. Agar kisi ne aapko dhoka diya hai to try and find out ki kyu? Maybe unki koi majburi ho sakti hai. Just give them another chance"
"Tell me one thing agar me ek kaanch ka glass tod du aur phir usse jodne ki koshish to bekar hi hogi na!"
"Lekin agar aap un pieces ko jodne ki koshish Karo to atleast ek dusre ke paas to rahenge na"
"Non functional way me pass rehne ka kya fayda. Wo cracks to rahenge na, me uss insaan pr phir kabhi puri tarah se bharosa nahi kar paunga"
"We can't live this way Abir! Agar har kisi se choti choti baat pr rishte todte rahe to jindagi me koi nahi bachega aapke pass aakhir me akele reh jayenge"
"Honestly jab tak tum, aur humari family mere saath hai mujhe kisi aur ki zaroorat nahi hai"
"Agar hume se kisine aapko dhoka diya to?"
"Nahi doge! Tum, maa, Ketu aur Aarav ye chaar Insaan mujhe meri zindagi me kabhi dhoka nahi denge iski guarantee hai mujhe!"
"For a second let's consider ki maine aapkp dhokha de diya to!"
"Jo ladki apni tuti hui heels tak ko stitch karke wapas pehnti hai wo dhoka degi? No chance!"
"Phir bhi ek minute ke liye imagine Kariye ki hum chaaro me se kisine aapko dhokha de diya to?"
"Nahi! Kyuki me kahi na kahi khud se bhi jyada bharosa karta hu tum chaaro pr"
"Itna vishwas mat kijiye kisi pr, khud se Jayda to bilkul nahi. Kya pata kab waqt badal jaye aur hum me se koi aapko hurt kar de!"
"Me aise hi kisi aire gere pr vishwas thodi kar raha hu. You guys are family aur family ditch nahi karti"
"Phir bhi sambhal kar, rehna chahiye Abir. Itna aakhein band karke bharosa nahi karte kisi pr!"
"Baat to sahi hai madam ji ki sahab" Interrupted the cobbler as he was finished with his work.
"Aapka kitna hua wo bataiye, baaki sab mat boliye!"
"Hue to 40 hai lekin ek zindagi ki baat batate hai sahab mere parivar ne hi mujhe dhokha de diye the varna humar to bada dukan tha ab kaha iss choti si kutiya me aa gaye hum!"
I was quick to fetch out the money and hand to him because we didn't wanted to listen to his whatever life lessons. As I didn't have change he was searching for change in his pocket when I noticed his hands and legs were cracked so I asked him to keep it to himself.
"Chale!" Collecting the heels in my hand we turned to walk,
"Sahab aap bohot acche hai! Isiliye keh rahe hai aapke un chaar logo pr hadd se jyada bharosa mat kijiye ga. Aapko Aaj nahi to kal koi dhokha dega!" I turned back to him only to say "ab mere pass aapke liye ek rai hai, ye dukhan me na chapplen hata kar picche bhagwan ke photo laga dijiye aur aap orange kapde pehan kar baith jaiye. Jyada paise kamayenge aur ha shant rahiyega"
He just smiled at me and I continued to walk with my wife, who was busy in her thinking zone. As we sat in the car, I asked her whats wrong to which she didn't respond.
"Rabbit!" She got out of her world and looked at me,
"Hua kya hai? Kya soch Rahi Ho?"
"Kuch nahi!"
"You are fine right?"
"Yeah"
"Abhi to mujh se lad Rahi thi ab kya ho gaya?"
"Kuch nahi hua hai. Aap gaadi chalaiye!"
"Ok!" I did as I was told, a few minutes later she glanced at me asking
"Kya aap sach me uss insaan ko second chance nahi denge Jo aapka bharosa tod dega?"
"Of course not Braveheart!"
"No matter how important that person is to you!"
"Ha. Ek baar tutne ke baad wo pehle jaisa kabhi nahi ho sakta!"
"Hmm!" She looked out,
"Agar uss insaan ke pass koi valid wajah ho to bhi nahi?"
"Nahi!"
"Hmm!"
For an unknown reason Ketu's words were still roaming in my head, glancing at my wife she was busy adoring the outside empty road.
No! Mishti aisa nahi karegi! One thing I can say with total assurance is she won't cheat on me physically. It's something else, or maybe I am really over thinking.
As we reached our home, parking the car I helped her to get down and we walked inside, all the lights were off as expected.
Asking Alexa to switch on the side lamps so house is not much bright but enough for us to walk till the room. There were red heart shaped balloons tied over all the house, rose petals covered the whole stair case and our way to our room, she glanced at me,
"You really have a good memory!"
"Thanks but for what?"
"Balloons!
As we walked to our room, she glanced at me,
"Aise mat dekho tumhara hi hu!" I said staring back at her and she just chuckled hearing that.
"Arrangements to best hai!"
"I know but phir bhi thanks!"
I held her wrist before we could enter our room,
"Braveheart I have an question for you!"
"Ask it!"
"Aisa nahi hai ki me tum pr bharosa nahi karta, but I want you to answer me honestly without hiding anything from me. I will trust every word you utter!"
"Don't scare me Abir!"
"Did you marry me for some reason?"
"Everyone marries for a reason Abir!"
"Not that way Braveheart! See I know the answer but I want to hear it from you cause I really don't want to repeat my mistake.." scooping her face in my hands I made her look at me,
"Is there any sin I committed that you want to take revenge of it that's why you married me?" She didn't answer but lowered her eyes, removed my hands from her cheeks and turned her back to me leaving me with more doubts in my mind. Is she really here for a revenge? Was Ketu right once again? I tried to remember each and every mistake I committed so that I could find her link but no! I was not able to do that.
Then what is she here for?
