Chapter 33. Dancing lesson

{Location: Destiny's Bounty}(Seliel's POV)

"So that's the infamous sunrise exercise? Not too bad." I actually feel great after the 'hard' stretches.

"Speak for yourself." Morro moans. He is wearing his normal Gi but has thick sunglasses as we approach Yang's floating temple.

Badink. Willow's phone goes off. Her face twists into an unhappy scowl.

"What's up?" Lloyd picks the phone from her hands.

"It's nothing. My landlord is just upset that I didn't pay his INSANE rent last night." Willow reaches for her phone and Lloyd holds it just outside her reach.

"Rent," Jay whimpers in sympathetic pain as Willow kicks Lloyd's shins to get her phone. "You still live in that dumpy apartment in Ninjago city?"

"Yeah. It's kinda hard to move when Phokae are attacking and mad women are bonding with superbeings and killing your sister." Willow says in the most deadpan voice possible. The Bounty lands and we disembark. "Still, I can't exactly leave everything there. Especially my checkbook."

"Not to mention my school books and art supplies are there." Kit cartwheels off the ship. Kit reminded me of someone, I couldn't put my finger on it just yet.

Ah. I smile slightly at a positive memory in my mind, She looks like an older blonde version of Julia.

"We've got plenty of room." Kai smiles as an airship flies in on the other side of the island. "Tell ya what, as soon as we can, we'll help you move."

"Really?" Willow looks shocked.

"Definitely. I'm sure we could actually go now if Wu said so." Skylor smiles as the airship opens its doors.

"Oh no." Cole stops in his tracks. "What's he doing now?"

"What's who doing now?" I actually never seen Cole scared.

"COLE!" A man with a cane and luggage limps his way over to us as quick as he can.

"Dad." Cole says in false gusto and hugs him, "What are you doing here?"

"Didn't you get my text?" Cole's dad holds up a phone.

"Ugg." Cole sighs as he presses the button. "You never hit send."

"Darn thing. Who are your new friends? I see some unfamiliar faces." Cole's dad points to me, Kit, Willow, Morro, Skylor and Katara.

"What are you doing here? I thought you and your quartet were on tour?" Cole ignores his dad's question.

"Twinkletoes," Jay mutters under his breath.

"I couldn't go on with these things attacking Ninjago." Cole's dad overdramatically holds his hand to his head after setting down his luggage. "And I wanted to see you, Son."

"Hey Jazz hands, how about you show your old man around while we ask my Uncle about a quick trip to the city?" Lloyd smirks as he goes to find his uncle.

"Can't we all show him? GUYS?" Cole whines as they walked away.

"YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN Triple S," Kai shouts as they walk in the temple.

I fake smile, hiding my homesickness and missing my own dad. "I better go fix the sparring equipment."

"And who might you be?" Cole's dad asks. He looked familiar.

"I'm Seliel Qortstone. Phantom Ninja. Cole's um." I wasn't sure what Cole and I are, we shared kisses and had a date but did that make us a couple? Do I even want to be in a relationship with someone I thought abandoned me?

"Friend. Let's just go with friend for now." Cole blushes a bit. Was that all I was to him? Do I want to be something more with him after the last guy?

"Hmm." Cole's dad rubs his chin.

"That's where I know you from." I tap my head as it dawns on me. "My mom had one of your albums in her office."

"Your mother had good taste. Perhaps I could autograph something for her." Cole's dad whips out a pen. "What's her name?"

"I'm sorry." I look down as heartache rolls itself over my heart, "My mom had been dead for two years." I feel tears threatening around my eyes.

"I'm sorry for your loss." Cole's dad puts his pen away as I feel a thick meaty hand pat my back. A rush of blush floods my cheeks. Now a mix of sadness, upsetness and 'oh-my-Grant, he's touching me,' happens. Sometimes I didn't like being a girl, too many complicated emotions.

"Hmm." Cole's dad rubs his chin as awkwardness ensued.

"So..how was your flight?" Cole asks as he picks up his dad's luggage.

{Location: New Ninjago City}(Willow's POV)

"What's with all the lottery tickets?" Lloyd waves a handful of colorful tickets in his hand.

"You'd be surprised at how pricey this place can be." I sigh as I pack my other uniforms in a cardboard box. Right now I am wearing a red and white blouse that makes me look like a candy cane with jeans. Lloyd wears a green sleeveless hoodie and an undershirt.

"LOOK what I found." Kit roll out from under our bed all dusty. In her hand, she holds a small mood ring. The one I got her after she made honor roll for the first time.

"Great find, now let's see if we can find some booty." Jay tries his best pirate accent, he is surprisingly good as he holds a small box of Kit's clothes. So far we only had five boxes and there isn't much else in the apartment.

"Here it be." I copy Jay's imitation and place my hands on Lloyd butt. He goes through seventy different shades of red in four seconds. A deep tug wiggles around in my stomach as he stutters and I take my hands off.

"No PDA with my sister," Katara yells from the other room. It is soon followed by a moan from Morro.

"I'm innocent." Lloyd finds his voice and picks up a box. We head to the main room, where Kai is rummaging through my cupboards. At the same time, they are playing something on the radio. The band kept saying, weekend whip.

"Why do you have so many ramen noodles?" Kai places a handful in a box.

"It's the only thing I can cook. Unless someone wants to be posained." I smile as we are practically done. Morro lays on the couch that is falling at it's seems, Nya places a small bag of toiletries on top of our pile as Jay puts down a box with heavy things inside. Katara is sitting on my window sill, people watching. Zane and Pixel had errands to run and Cole and Seliel were entertaining Cole's father. I think Skylor is taking care of her dad's will or something near the courthouse.

I sigh a the pitiful pile. "I think that's it."

"We interrupt this broadcast for an emergency report." The music stops and Gal Gossip, sounding faint comes on. "Currently, there's a wildfire in the Birchwood forest. Many believe this fire to be the same one which has claimed at least two dozen lives of hikers that were in the forest. The fire has come out nowhere in the middle of the wet season. To make matters even more strange, the fire is purple, not red." I click the radio off as the mood turns sour.

"Jezzie's baiting us. If we go after her now we'll walk into a trap." I sigh as Katara's hair tips catch small flames. Should I give her comfort, let her know that I no longer care about what she did to me? I'm so used to comforting Kit, it's been forever since I had to do the same with Katara, and even during those early days, it was mostly her comforting me.

"If you're thinking about Jezzie," I decided that maybe her possible train of thought. "I'm still going to kick her can for you."

This brings the corners of her mouth up the down as she remembers what happened next. Now she's remembering...who else did she meet in her 'afterlife'.

"Yeah," Kai smiles as he closes the Roman noodle box, "And I have a hard time believe that she could do anything worse than that."

"I guess that means you missed me during my,'break'?

"Oh yeah," Jay zaps the radio back on. Apparently, he needs to music to talking, "You should have seen how upset Morro was during those three days."

Katara smiles but she seems to be looking at the wall behind Jay. Mabey fading wallpaper is the color she likes. Now that I think about it a little more, she did seem interested in things behind, above or next to people. Why?

Morro moans, I can imagine that he too didn't like thinking about that, "Come on man."

"It's fine," Katara smiles as she closes the window, "And if that happens again, Turbine, please eat something."

Our faces freeze, we didn't even indicate that Morro barely ate. How'd she know?

Nya accidentally knocks off the small bag she put up, "How'd you know that? We never said anything about it." She picks it back up.

Katara smirks in her mystery knowledge, "Let's just say, the Departed Realm isn't ignorant of what happens here."

"Hey, Aquila," Jay looks up, probably trying to mentally ask for a little help, "Can you give us a little more info?"

I roll my eyes, "Aquila left for lunchtime hunting an hour ago."

"Oh," Jay has a nervous smile due to his ignorance, "We can always get more answer once we head back to the temple." Now he switches to a teasing face, "Maybe we can call Neuro, ask him for a mind probe of you two."

I freeze at the idea, they definitely would have nightmares from the tiniest sliver of my past. "Yeah, I'd let that happen once I lose a few brain cell. Dweeb."

Lloyd smiles a little, putting childlike playfulness in his emerald eyes, "No probing my girlfriend."

I force my stoic look to keep my blush at bay. I guess at this point we made a silent agreement about this, but it was never really discussed. "Unless Jay wishes to meet the same fate." I protest as Katara lights her hand up with a fireball. Joining my side in intimating him.

"Don't burn my fiancee. I sorta like him." Nya smiles as the fireball goes away.

{Location: The Airjitzu floating temple}(Seliel's POV)

"How do I get roped into things like this?" Cole has one hand on my hip and the other holding my right hand.

"Because I told you to. Now, one, two, three, four." Lou orders as Cole leads our waltz. Personally, I love/hate how close were are, the only space in between us as a small magazine but other than that I could practically feel his abs against my stomach. But it reminds me of another dance I shared with someone special.

"Not half bad cake-face." I tease in fighting my blush and try to embrace the excited part of me. Cole over steps backwards and my armor carries us his way. We land on the floor, the magazine is lost somewhere and a deep churning crawls in my stomach.

"No. No. Get up." Lou proceeds to beat me with a rolled up magazine.

"OK. Dad, how about we stop the dance lesson and let Seliel get back to work." Cole looks up into my eyes. His eyes are a chocolate brown color, it almost matches the cedar wood below him. I lose the battle of my blush as heat seeps its way into my cheeks. I take two more hits from the magazine than get off Cole.

"But I hurt my foot in my last routine and I can't dance with another male." Lou pouts as Cole gets up.

"Then go watch a video of a waltz on youtube. I have things to do you know." Cole snaps back as he dusts himself off.

"I don't know how. Your buddy never got the chance to show me how." Lou smirks. His eyes are constantly darting back and forth between me and Cole.

"Is there a reason for why we are doing this?" I complain as I take off my over armor to reveal a magenta undershirt with turquoise and violet splashes of paint.

"I'm actually experimenting with what Peter told me once." Lou smirks with trouble in his eye, "He claims, 'you can tell that a woman is in love by the way she smiles. But you can tell a man's in love by looking at his eyes.'" Lou smirks harder as another round of blush enters my cheeks.

"DAD!" Cole bites back a stronger word but he too is red-faced.

"Oh geez!" I hide under my hair.

Lou lets out a hearty laugh. "What, personally I think that you two make a lovely couple."

"Tell your dad to stop shipping us." I come out from under my hair and grab my helmet to hide in.

"What she said." Cole pulls up his mask.

"Come on, it's perfectly obvious that you two have the same mutual feelings for the other. I know." Lou sings. Like literally, he breaks into a song with a chores, 'I know things, I've seen things. I can see how you feel.'

I strap back on my over armor. "This isn't a musical." I never like being pushed. That was proven true when..no, I don't like thinking about that.

BEEP. BEEEEEEP. BEP. An annoying alarm sounds and distracts me from my thoughts.

"What's going on?" Cole asks as my helmet screen shows a picture of Clouse, time twins and Jezzie with ashen skin, breaking out.

"Zane's falcon is showing me a little jailbreak that happening on the island." I tighten the last of my armor as Cole and I charge out the door.

"Great. Stay here Dad." Cole closes the door.

"We also have another problem. Jezzie." I pull out my sickle.

"It's a real party." Cole grabs a scythe from the training yard as we book it to the west temple. Sure enough, there is a large gaping hole in the wall. "You're going to have to pay for that Missy."

"As promised, I'll let you have revenge on the ninja." Jezzie looks drastically different as she cackles. She has a purple battle skirt, the power armor and her no longer blonde hair is held back in a ponytail. She is truly bonded with the Overlord, their voices are even one. Basically, they sound like screaming cats on a chalkboard. "You can start now if you wish." Jezzie looks at us, her eyes now pool with red, violet and black energy. At her feet, darkness lingers and sweeps into the ground killing the nearby grass.

Clouse folds his arms in protest. "I don't take orders from Fay of any kind."

"Luckily we do," Acronics smirks as his brother charges at us.

"Let's just get out of here-AH!" Krux tries to grab me. He ends up with a metal fist to the gut.

"Agreed. Tell you friends, I'm waiting for them." Jezzie taunts as she grew large dragon wings that are pure black. "DO you really want to wait here Closey?" She starts flapping. Clouse grumbles something as he grabs on to her legs and holds on for dear life.

"Time to leave." Acronix throws a punch at Cole, who back flips away in evasion. The twins race back to Jezzie and cling to her arms as they fly away.

I curse and stomp on the ground.

"We'll get them. Contact the others." Cole mindlessly orders as he hops onto his dragon. In the corner of my eyes, a red and sapphire dragon races up to us as Cole takes me into his arms.

"GO GET 'EM SON!" Lou shouts as he hobbles to us. We wave goodbye and take off, chasing our prey.
