Chapter 17. Disarmed

{Location: The Destony's Boundy in the Hollow woods southern region}(Kai's POV)

"Break it down for us sis." Me and my brothers charge into the Bounty's mission room. A video of a large white and purple snake is in the middle.

Nya pulls a loose hair out of her face. "It's Pythor. He's been spotted in the forest."

Zane points to a large purple sword. "And it appears that he's got the missing Anacondrai blade from the museum."

Lloyd folds his arms. "So he stole property, that gives us the right to go after him."

"We have another problem," Nya zooms in on the time stamp, "This was just sent to us but it was taking nearly four hours ago."

Jay sighs, "So he could be anywhere in the forest. Perfect."

"It'll be hard, not impossible." Cole puts on his thinking face. "We'll split up. Zane and Kai will look in the middle region, Jay and Myself will look in the north and west, Lloyd and Nya will take the south and east."

I roll my eyes. "I recall lots of bad things happening to us when we split up." I have an uneasy feeling about this mission.

Jay put his hands on his hips. "Yeah, Natackon?"

Lloyd bit his lower lip. "Or the whole Morro mess?"

Cole flips on his hood. "I don't like it either but we need to find Pythor and that takes priority over our feelings. Now, let's hunt down the stupid snake."

[2 hours later]

"Come here, you slimy egghead." I peer into a cave. I hate this plan, but even more so when Zane decided to split us up even further, he was now searching the west of the river. The sunset an hour ago and the night air is setting in. It feels cold and unwelcoming, I hate being cold.

Pythor slithers up behind me and wraps me up with his thick arms. "It's not nice to call people names."

"Let me go and fight, you coward." I snap and struggle.

"What the matter? Don't like being alone?" Pythor reaches his neck out so he could face me. His smirk falls when he noticed my father's blacksmith symbol on my Gi.

"Checking out the show?" I smirk and flex at a bit.

"I recognize that symbol. It's the same one that blacksmith had on when he lock the Anaconda away." Pythor now wears a very angry face.

"I guess he didn't bury you deep enough." I glare in victory. I can win this.

"HH!" Pythor growls and pushes me into a cave, in between two rock are two long chains which fall on my hands. The one on my right is looser than the left one. "I made a promise to my father, that I'd take something valuable from that man. As I did, my father let himself get eating, starting with his left arm." Pythor picks up the purple blade and runs his fingers over its edges. I rarely felt fear, but now it is screaming in my heart. "But since your father isn't here to pay, I guess you'll have to pay for his sin." Pythor holds the blade over my left bicep. He pushes something so the rocks move and I am stretched so far that I can't struggle.

"You don't have to do that. Just umm...mess up my hair or something." I wince as Pythor makes his practice strikes. My siblings will rescue me. Soon. A flicker of hope tickles me.

"Sorry chape, no one's coming to help you with this gone." Pythor holds up my walkie talkie and throws it into the cave.

I hear a series of snaps and cracks. "Please don't," I beg in a defeated voice. I am shaking like a leaf in the wind.

"For the Anacondrai, for revenge." Pythor does a downward strike through my arms. At first, nothing happens, then the right chain's tension pulls me away as my left arm is held in Pythor's hands. He cackles and unchain it. I manage to pull my other hand out of the cuff as he swallows my arm whole. I just start running. I clutch my open wound as pain sets in. I feel dizzy from the blood loss and I find the river.

"Help me," I cry as the rock beneath me turns crimson. Pythor isn't following me, he must have felt satisfied with what he had done and is probably sleeping, dreaming of dismembered limbs. I have to get out of here. I make futile attempts to take off on my energy dragon but I am too scared. I end up laying on a big rock over the river, my blood dripping into its crystal clear waters. "Maybe someone will see the blood and travel upstream and help me." I bite my lips, trying to distract myself from the pain. "Help me," I whine and force my eyelids to not close. I try to heat myself up to fend off the coldness I feel.

"Kai?" I hear Zane's robotic voice nearby. "Why aren't you looking for Pythor?"

"Because I found him." I turn around slowly, showing off my newest scar.

"Oh, dear motherboard." Zane's attitude changes and he runs to my aid. "You're going to be ok. Hold still." Zane does a small blast of ice and freezes over my wound. The ice tickles my flesh as it turns red from all the blood. "This is Zane, come in ninja. We have a man down. Meet me back at the Ranger camp on the western side." Zane picks me up bridal style and hops on his dragon as I wince in pain

"It hurts," I whine as the cold night air bites my face.

"I know. Just hold on." Zane sits behind me and holds the rines as we soar into the night sky.

We land hard and nearly crush the mailboxes in front of a large wooden cabin with a green roof and a first aid symbol on the logo. Two Rangers men with thick beards runs out to greet us. It is getting hard to tell their features as my eyesight goes blurry. "This man need help." Zane carries me with my remaining arm over his shoulders.

One of the rangers take me, his hands feel hard like wood, he carries me into the facility as other Rangers get the med bay ready. "What happened?"

"Sword." I choke out as the wooden floor starts leaving a blood trail. "And an angry Serpentine."

"Put him here." The ranger orders as I lay down on a stretcher and is taken upstairs.

Another ranger stops Zane from following as I let my eyes close. "Stay here. We'll take care of him."

[Two hours later]

I open my eyes to the wooden ceiling. "Maybe it was a dream?" I reach over with my right hand in search of my left one, my fingers end up traveling to what was left. "Nope," I say aloud as I sit up. I have some kind of cloak/blanket on that feels like pinpricks. I don't feel dizzy anymore but I force myself to look. A stump of an arm is covered in bloody bandages wrapped intricately around the area. I bend over my bedside and start crying. I haven't cried since my parents' funerals. I only then let a tear slide as Nya cried in my arms.

Nya opens the door as the cloak thing in closes around me, hiding my wound. "Kai?"

Jay follows along with the rest of my siblings. "You ok?"

"I'm going to kill that slimy snake." I curse under my breath as my tears stop. "I'm gonna find him and hurt him."

Lloyd comes in and closes the door. "What'd he do?"

I don't respond, instead, I sit up taller, the blanket falls behind me as shocked faces appear. Zane is stoic but looks like he is holding back a few choice words.

Cole mutters as I start crying again. "It's..his....Pythor."

Nya hugs me as my brothers surround me in a hug. I keep crying as gentle shhs and calm words are spoken over me. But nothing they say would have stopped my inner fire from flickering out. It doesn't go to the point of dying, but it barely lives on the embers of my emotion.

{Location: The airjitzu temple}(Nya's POV)[A day later]

"Let me help." I pick up Kai's finished plate. Most of the food is gone so that is a good sign about his mental state. His emotional state, however, is all topsy-turvy. He barely talked, joked, trained, or pranked.

Kai mutters as he leans back so I can grab his plate. "Thanks."

"Don't worry," Jay smiles as he and Lloyd start the dishes, "You'll get through this."

"Care to explain how?" Kai snaps as a little bit of his hair catches fire. Zane has to blast a small bit of ice to put it out. "Pythor ATE my arm!" Kai slams his fist on the table. "It can't come back."

Cole forces a smile, "Sometimes we lose something valuable in life," he is going to import a wise saying from Sensei Wu as Kai grips the table with his hand.

"I didn't lose my arm. It was taken." Kai looks on the verge of tears as small sparks come off his body.

Zane pulls his lips into a straight tight line. "Loss is a normal thing in life."

"But it's how we respond to it that makes us stronger." I finish the quote from Sensei as I set the dish down. "It's just going to take time."

Kai looks mad, sad, terrified and worried at the same time. "Sensei isn't even here, Mom and Dad are at the workshop. Anyone that can fix what's wrong with me isn't here, so how can I get over it without a solution." Kai scoots out of his seat and marches to the training yard.

"He's not wrong." Lloyd sighs. "We can't bring back his arm or give him a new one."

Zane lights up with an idea as he dials a number on his phone. "I might know someone who might."

"Until then," Cole picks up his plate and sets it next to Jay, "We can't leave him alone for long periods of time."

Jay turns on the faucet and grabs the soap. "Agreed."

I weakly smile as I go off in search of my brother. "I'll keep an eye on him for now."

"Hello, Dr. Borge." Zane starts talking on the phone as the door swings shut behind me. "Yes, I was wondering if.."

{Location: Central New Ninjago Middle school}(Kit's POV)

"Hey." Nelson Little leans up against my neighbor's locker as I put my books away. He looks like a normal high schooler with his Ninja t-shirt that displays Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole, and Lloyd. The weekend is seconds away as older kids shove their way in the hall to freedom. "Smarty."

"H-hi!" I reach for my bag as my hand accidentally slams into the locker wall. "Ow." I whimper and pull it back.

"So...Um." Nelson holds something in his hand, it looks like a number written on a small square sheet of paper. "I was wondering if..um."

Go on. Don't stutter. I bite my lips as butterflies explode in my stomach. "Yes?"

"I was hoping that you'd like to.." Nelson nervily grins as my phone goes off. I pull it out and recognizes Dr. Borge's number. He is probably calling about my latest computer code project.

"I've got to take this." I hate putting people on hold, both face to face and over the phone. I press the answer call button as Nelson works up more courage. "Hello?"

"Ah, Katherine." Dr. Borge talks loudly as machines hammered metal behind him. "How are you doing this Friday?"

"I'm good. I was just about to head home for the weekend. Did you need something?"

"I do. As one of my most promising pupils, I do occasionally allow one of my projects to be assisted by a student of my choosing and I have a very special order that just came in." Dr. Borge closes a door and the banging sound is muffled more. "I was curious if you could help me with the coding of it?"

I feel my mouth drop to the floor. This is a once in a school year opportunity.

"You will, of course, get credit for your assistance but this is a rush project and needs to be done sooner rather than later." Dr. Borde stops talking as I forget how to form words. "Katherin? Are you still there?"

"I'm here. That is a..wow." I run my fingers through my loose hair.

"Is that a yes?"

"Yes. Definitely."

"Good. I'll email you the information. I hope your weekend is free." Dr. Borge hangs up as I put my phone back into my pocket.

Nelson smiles as he fiddles with the small paper. "What was that?"

"I think I just got a job." I quickly explain the conversation I just had.

"That's incredible." Nelson doesn't look as thrilled about the news as my phone buzzes.

"So," I point to his paper, "What did you want to ask me?"

"I was hoping that you could come on a hiking trip my folks are planning. Your sister could come too. If she wanted." Nelson looks down.

"I'd love to come. When is it?" I get giddy at the pure thought of spending time with him as I grab my rather light school bag.

"This weekend. I meant to ask you sooner but I got caught up in a dare with Brad and Gean."

"Oh. I don't think I can make it." I feel my face drop into a sad look. FENWICK! I think about the master writer and how he is seriously messing with my life right now. "Maybe another time."

"Yeah. Well," Nelson closes my locker door as I relock it. "I've got to go. Gota pack."

"I'll see you Monday." I smile as he walks off and joins his friends. "Why?" I look up as I walk to where Willy is waiting for me in the courtyard. I pull out my phone and open my email, maybe planning ahead for what codes I'd need to write would take my mind off of my boy troubles.

The email was written in haste as many words are misspelled or were stuck on caps lock, "Thank you so much, Katherine. I know you're a busy girl and I've gotten most of the work done already. I just need a little help for a few moments as I work on other projects." I read as I walk. "If I could see you either later tonight or tomorrow morning, that would be fantastic.

From, Cyrus Borge. C.E.O. of Borg incorporated."

"Hey Kitkat." Willy smiles as she waves to another teacher. "How was your day?"

"You won't believe it." I put my phone away as I tell her the news.

"That sounds amazing. When do you need to be there?" Willy smiles and as a bus pulls up just in front of us.

"He said it was a rush project, is it alright if I go tonight?" I fish my bus tokens out of my pocket.

"Sure. I'll be sure to pick up some pizza for you." Willy finds some seats near the back.

"YAY! PIZZA!" I smile at the thought of cheesy goodness.

[Early the next day]

"And done." I rub my eyes from the computer screen as the early sun rises in the sky. Sunlight tiptoes in and casts light over me as I force myself to stay awake. Willy is out cold and uses the pizza box as a pillow. "Who is this for exactly?"

"I was asked to be secretive about it." Cyrus is wide awake and rolls in with a coffee in both hands. "Thank you so much for all your time."

"I'm," I yawn as I close the laptop, "Just glad it was a weekend."

"As am I." Cyrus forces a coffee into my hands as he pulls various wires off from a sterling silver box. "You and your sister should get going."

"Oh yeah." I actually could have fallen asleep right here as I roll my chair over to Willy. "Wake up sis." I gently shake her as the pizza box flap gets tossed off of her. When she just shakes me off, I resort to a wet willy.

"Gross!" She bolts up and covers her ears. "Yesh, I'm up."

"Sure," I grab the box and throw it away as Cyrus holds the case in his lap, "But I better make sure."

I reach over for a noogie when Willy anticipates and gives me one instead, "I win again Kitten."

"Got me again." I snicker as I pick up my bag and hear the elevator ding as it arrives to us.

"Going down?" Cyrus rolls in and chuckles as Willy and I hurry over to him. "Main floor please."

The voice recognizer picks up and we go down. Most of the ride is quiet as all three of us have varying degrees of tiredness. "I can't thank you enough for this Katherine." Cyrus looks at his watch as we disembarked and walk outside the building. Some people mill about either in groups or in pairs.

"I'm just glad it's done now." I smile as an air taxi flies over to us.

"I'll put in your credit later tonight. Goodbye." Cyrus rolls into the car as Willy waves it down for him.

"I'm going to find a bus schedule," Willy stretches, her hair has pizza grease all over it and it dribbles down onto her white and grey striped t-shirt. "You hang here for a bit."

"Ok." I stop another yawn as I sip my coffee. Willy finds a small bench as my eyes try to close.

"Well, if it isn't," I recognize that snarky arrogant little voice. I put on a glad face as Gene and Brad walked up to me, Gean looks especially evil today in the morning sun, "Katherine Pauline Mae. What's your little butt doing here on the nice side of town?" They are wearing their football uniforms despite it being the off-season.

Brad sneers as annoyance is added to the tired I am weighted with. "Here to pickpocket for college?"

"Brad and Gene." I am tired but I have energy for a snippy comeback, "Shouldn't you two melonheads be in detention right about now?"

"Melonheads?" Gene shakes his head, "Is that the best you got half pint?"

"Too bad my worst is your best."

"Rumor has it, you ducked out on Nelson," Brad has an evil chuckle, "I bet you've got no idea how much he's been dying to ask you out."

"I'd sooner kiss a toilet." Gene snickers as anger and frustration build up in me. I get this now and then in school.

I search my numb mind for an insult, "I feel for that toilet." I may not be held responsible for what could happen next.

"Oh please." Brad shakes his head as the two idiots surround me, "I bet she doesn't even care for, Little."

I am caught between saying, yes I do, and, go away. And somehow I pull a Jay and mix those up, "Yes I away." I realize my words and sigh as the two chuckle at me.

"Wow," Gene calms down as my fists shake, "The second most brilliant person at school can't even talk."

Brad holds himself in a giggle fit, "Maybe they should bump you back to kindergarten." Brad teases..not in a friendly way.

I force down my tears, as they would give them what they wanted. But I still felt my hands get warm and shake from my anger. ZIPS! A portal opens up on the other side of Borge tower, a large machine falls out along with two other objects. I hear hissing as the machine slams to the ground with a thump. Another person falls as I stare at my hands, they are currently coated like they were when the time blades were present. Oh no. That person is going to die because of me. I have to stop his fall. I make sure Brad and Gene aren't looking as I carefully aim a green time blast at the falling man. Except I fast forward too much and he disappears entirely. I have a feeling I didn't dissolve his into nothingness as police arrive to arrest the men in the machine.

Brad steps back as Willy walks back to me. "What the?"

Willy holds her sword blade and folds her arms. "Is there a problem here?"

"N-no." Gene glares, "We were just talking." The two walk away, "See you at school."

"And was there a problem?" Willy smile as our bus pulls up.

I hold my hands up to show off the fading colors. "Yeah. It's been a heck of a day."

{Location: The Airjitzu temple} (Kai's POV)

"Come on Kai." I bite my lip as I pick up my comb. For some reason, brushing my hair always calms me down. But I also have to use both hands for some of it.

"Need a little help?" Nya knocks on the bathroom door and walks in. "You know you don't have to do it on your own." She picks up the comb and starts to brush my hair. "That what Sensei would say."

"He probably also would say something about iron sharpening iron." I smile at the idea of Sensei. "I hope he's ok, whenever he is." Nya keeps trying to make small talk as she messes with my hair.

Zap! A familiar noise rings in the room as Sensei Wu himself trembles in from who knows when.

"Sensei?" I can't believe my eyes as Sensei stumbles into the wall. "What-...How? When?"

"I don't know." Sensei gets up and dusts himself off. "What did I miss?" He points to my missing arm as my brothers hear the commotion.

"SENSEI WU!" They all exclaim in various ways and force a group hug as my depression is temporarily displaced by seeing my Master again.

"I thought you were lost in time," Jay almost mixes up his words as I hear our doorbell ring. "How did you get back?"

Cole smiles as we slowly make our way to the front door. "And where are Kruxs and Acronix?"

"The hands of time are here. I saw them get arrested as I fell out of the Iron Doom." Sensei pauses as he tries to properly collect his thoughts, "By the Borge Tower."

I fight off a little sadness creeping in the back of my mind. "But how'd you get here?"

Lloyd hums, "Maybe the fast forward blade hit you?" He fumbles for an explanation as Zane opens the door.

"Perhaps." Sensei doesn't seem satisfied with that answer as Zane says thanks to a stranger. "I am just glad to be back."

"We happy for your safe return as well." Zane turns around and holds some long silvery box as Cyrus Borg rolls after him, "And what luck on this timing."

"Hey Cyrus," Jay waves as curiosity tickles my thoughts. "Thanks for the fast order."

"I'll be sure to extend your thanks to my accomplice." Cyrus bowes a bit as I really want to know what is in the box, "She did give up her Friday night to help code this."

I frown as my siblings seem oddly giddy. "Code what?"

"Remember what you said a few days ago," Cole folds his arms as the box is placed in the center of the room, "How we can't fix your arm or bring it back?"

Nya nudges me forward as my human hand fumbles to undo the locks. "Well, we found someone who could."

Jay can't stop smiling, "I think Pythor will have a little bit of a harder time eating this one." He snickers as the lid comes off. Inside black cushions, is a titanium arm that is smoothed to a crisp. My eyes grow to the size of a sword as I realize who it was for.

"I put all my best effort into it." Cyrus has a proud smile as I pick it up and let the others see, "It's made from the same material that Zane is. It can also run off your elemental energy, so there's no need for external power sources." I nod as I look it over, on the palm is a little covered over a hole, "Hopefully, it can also fire as well as your first one did."

"You guys did this for me?" I almost have tears in my eyes as they nod.

"Well," Lloyd smiles and folds his arms, "We can't be short of one Kai Smith on our team."

Jay looks a little eager at the arm. "Does it do anything else?"

"I designed it to have a neuro-link with Kai so he won't have to do everything manually. Unless he chooses to." Cyrus pointed to some spray paint in the box, meaning I can paint it however I wish to, "Even if the arm is damaged, he won't feel the pain."

"That some pretty advanced coding," Nya smiles as I actually feel happy since the incident, "Who did it?"

"One of my students from an advanced program I semi-run." Cyrus smiles at the thought of this mystery person, "She's very talented for her age."

"Well," Jay smirks, "Are ya going to put it on or what?"

I slowly bring the end of the arm up to my torn flesh. Srink! Little wires jump to my veins and intertwine as it pinches a bit.

"I should have mentioned that that binding process is a little strong." Cyrus smiles as his watch beeps.

I've had worst. I smile as the arm beeps once. I begin moving it around, getting used to the new weight.

Cole smiles as I get better right off the bat. "How's it feel?"

I feel a smirk on my face for the first time in two days as I let out a flame and hold it high in my new hand. "Like a million dollars." I stop and am eager to play with my new toy.

Zane smiles, this was probably his idea, "That's probably how much it cost." He smiles as I find an arm flap similar to his and press a button. The weekend whip by the fold begins playing.

Cyrus looks at his watch as I keep pressing buttons. "I also may have looked into few of your favorite songs and pre-programmed them in."

"This is truly awesome." I stop the music, "Thanks, guys."

"What you think we were going to do?" Lloyd smiles as I feel another group hug come on, "Leave you to your misery?"
