"Cause I'm your home, home, home, home..." the soft music blaring from the record player beside the tv was tuned to the interior, but nothing suited for the weather outside.

Lightning flashes, brightening the sky for a mere second before vanishing instantly, leaving no trace except for the roar of thunder reverberating after a few seconds. Kind of like a relationship: the period of loving ending so quickly in comparison to the time taken to get over the break-up. Despite how fear inducing it may appear, in the place we are most comfortable, nothing can scare us anymore. Wrapped up in a blanket burrito with his boyfriend on the sofa, in front of the flickering coals of the lit synthetic fireplace, this was Yunho's comfort spot.

The faint overhead yellow light illuminated only the coffee table directly under it, creating an atmosphere of absolute calm. Outside, the rain grew heavier, office workers opening their umbrellas while getting off the bus in the hopes of keeping their designer suits dry. Leaving a wide berth around each other, no physical contact whatsoever. But, up on the fifth floor of the apartment block, the couple shared their warmth with each other, cozying up closer under the covers.

As the night wore on, Yunho felt his eyelids grow heavy, and slowly, involuntarily, his head tilted onto Seonghwa's shoulder. At the sudden added weight, the latter awoke from his slumber. Blinking a few times to snap out of his daze, eventually, he stole a peek downward at the dead weight resting upon his left side and couldn't help but smile. A smile that anyone could tell from a single glance how contented he was. Resting his elbow on the armrest, he would have leaned over and fallen asleep again, but those plans were instantly foiled when he noticed the tears leaking from the sleeping one's eyes, leaving their mark as they rolled down his cheeks. That look of content from moments before immediately transformed into one of concern. Taking one of the younger's hands from under the covers, he wrapped both of his palms around it, gripping it like a vise, before lacing his fingers between, and stroking the back of his hand. "Yunnie, wake up..."

The younger awoke in a frenzy, head darting about as though he had lost something important, before his gaze fixated on the elder still nestled beside him and let out a sigh of relief. "Hwa..."

"I'm sorry. I should have been there for you. Way earlier than when I did."

"It isn't your fault. I-I just don't want to lose another person. Another person that I love with all my heart. I thought I lost you too..."

"Shhh... it was just a nightmare. You're never going to lose me, I'm going to stay here with you forever, whether it be in human or spirit." At those final words. Seonghwa lifted his hand to the younger's face and gently brushed the last few stray teardrops aside with his thumb. "There, now don't cry anymore. I'm not going anywhere."

Yunho lifted his arm and gingerly dabbed at his face with his sweater paw, leaving behind a pretty obvious brown stain from the makeup on the pale blue fabric. Sheepishly, he attempted rubbing it off to no avail, and ultimately gave up. "Sorry, Hwa."

For once, Seonghwa found that he didn't care. As long as his Yunnie was happy, he would be too. "It's alright, it'll come out in the wash anyway." A flurry of emotions must have emerged, because suddenly, the younger threw his arms around the elder, wrapping around him so tightly that if he were a present, that would have been the most pristine packaging. Yunho lowered his chin onto the other's shoulder once again, and breathlessly uttered his words in a whisper. "Thank you for being here for me."

Seonghwa felt his face turn pink with blush, accompanied by the prickling of tears forming, but he held them back in a desperate attempt, knowing that if he started, it was never going to stop. "Don't thank me, Yun. If anything, I should also thank you for making my life so wonderful." The following endless exchange of bickering compliments was shortly interrupted by the deafening clap of thunder. Both heads sharply turn toward the window, only to notice each other in the reflection of the dark landscape outside. As their eyes met in the glass, both parties broke into grins. "Y'know what this reminds me of? The first few times we met. That promise I made to you then, is and forever will be the biggest promise I've made in my life, and one I intend to keep with my life."

With that, the elder leaned over and planted a soft kiss on the other's cheek, his left hand tracing circles in the middle of the younger's back. His heart is beating way too fast. "The back of your top's soaked. Let me go get a change for you. And while I'm at it, I'll go get the record. Maybe that'll help calm you more." "I don't need it now, Hwa. Just stay..." "It'll only be a few seconds."

Seonghwa stood up from the couch, taking his side of the blanket and wrapping it around Yunho. "I'll only be gone a few seconds." He also couldn't help but giggle slightly as he headed down the corridor toward the bedroom. Yunho looked exactly like one of those distraught puppies left at daycare. But, just as he entered the mouth of the corridor, something stopped him in his tracks. A voice. Singing.

"Unconditional, unconditionally."

The tears he had desperately tried to stop earlier overflowed and escaped their boundaries. Slowly, he turned back toward the living room, memories whipping through his head faster than he could recollect them before meeting gazes once again. The other's eyes were shiny in the dim glow. And if but for a moment, time stopped as their voices melded in harmony.

"I will love you, unconditionally."
