Suzzanah's POV

Somewhere deep, deep, deep inside of me, I knew...I already knew the answer to this question that had haunted me day and night for the past several days. But I never accepted it. Some part of me kept hanging on to the natural, the logical, the rational. I didn't want to believe that it was possible for a human to be anything but. Especially not an animal!

The Alpha is the wolf...

The wolf had been there in the forest with me, and had not seen the hologram, and the wolf was the Alpha, so the Alpha, having been there, and not having seen the blue-green eyed apparition was a BIG deal!

Oh my god, oh my god, oh my GOD!

It all fit in perfectly and there was no escaping the truth now.

The Alpha is the wolf...

Earlier I didn't want to accept that I had stumbled into the supernatural, into a world that wasn't supposed to exist. Because if I did accept it, then I'd also have to face the implications it had towards me, towards my life, or even lack thereof.

The Alpha is the wolf...

I was working for someone who wasn't human, someone who possessed the ability to change into a large, dark, powerful animal, someone who defied the natural and opened the gates to an unknown realm. A realm I didn't know whether humans were allowed into...or could survive in.

But now that I had no choice but to accept it all- the irrational, impossible and the completely bizzare- what should I do?...what should I do next?...

My hands flew to my mouth muffling the loud shocked gasp that escaped my lips as the grave realization of my circumstances sank deep into my body and mind. But unfortunately I didn't fail to catch the attention of the two bickering Alphas who now directed their questioning eyes at me, the same eyes that up until a minute ago had been as non-threatening as any human organ can be, but now...now they possessed the ability to chill me down to the bone and deep to the soul.

"See, even the Lu- I mean Ms. Winters finds the car breathtaking", Master Marco beamed at me.

Lu- Luna... I knew now.

But the meaning behind the word...was it still the same or hand it changed somehow?

The Mate of an Alpha...

And the Alpha is the wolf!

In my disturbed line of thought I had missed most of what Master Marco had been saying and only caught the last line, "Let's not waste any more time and be off", he said and walked to the limo.

Breathing a sigh of exasperation Alpha Zuerien looked back at me and my body went stiff as my heart rate sped up. And for the very first time, it was not because of the intense look in his eyes, the charm in his stance or the proximity of his presence. No, this time it was due to one untainted emotion - fear.

Wordlessly he placed a hand on my lower back again, inducing the same pleasurable tingles as he always did, but this time they did nothing to numb my frenzied panicked thoughts. With minimum pressure on my back, he ushered me to the limousine and I wondered how it was possible for a man who was half animal to possess such a gentle touch.

I managed to keep a straight face but ended up compromising the activity of my lower limbs. So instead of walking I ended up wobbling to the car as though I had sticks of jelly instead of legs holding up my torso. Surely I looked like some possessed demon in a dress wiggle-dancing down the pavement. I noticed that Alpha Zuerien deliberately walked slower so as to match my distorted pace as I tried to keep myself from appearing like a dizzy drunkard.

Inside the enormous vehicle there were luxurious cushiony leather seats facing each other. Master Marco and Mr. Talon sat on one side, while Mr. Penson and Master Cole sat opposite to them meaning I would have to sit next to Mr. Talon, across from the Alpha King himself.

Or should I call him the Wolf man?

Wolf man aka Alpha Zuerien held the door open for me, and I gulped as I stared into the door that would seal my fate and trap me in a tight moving compartment with a shape shifter.

Alpha Zuerien furrowed his eyebrows at me questioningly and I released a strangled breath before sliding into the car, beside Mr. Talon. After me, the Alpha promptly got in as well, sitting opposite to me and closed the door.

Nervously I looked up to see Master Cole and Mr. Penson having a conversation about the Annual Games. When I turned my head to the right, I saw Master Marco telling Mr. Talon something which Mr. Talon was busily noting down in his notepad. Now that left only one more person, but honestly I didn't need to look at him to tell that Alpha Zuerien's eyes were on me. I could literally feel the heat from his gaze seeping into my cold trembling body.

The limousine started moving and a heavy weight descended upon me. The weight of being caged in a metal box with four men and one half-human, half-wolf supernatural being who technically wasn't supposed to exist outside of one's imagination.

But wait...only one?

My eyes widened involuntarily at the question my very active mind had thrown at me without any warning. My gaze scanned the other four men in the car once again and my breath caught in my throat as yet another truth revealed itself to me.

Everyone else in this car knew about Alpha Zuerien being in the woods that day and seeing me. Did that mean...did that mean that they knew?!!

They knew he wasn't human!

My eyes widened in realization and my throat went dry. I gulped and panted for air as my hands trembled by my sides. My mind ran over all the random bits of information I had gathered over time which up until today I had deemed unimportant.

The howling I had heard on the night I had first arrived.

The wolf on the company logo - the wolf who was Alpha Zuerien...

All the uncharacteristic sniffing that had taken place on my first day of work...

All the warnings and advice to stay away from the Alpha or at least to not make him mad or disrespect him...

Mr. Talon had always seemed frightened to let me near the Alpha until one day that changed and he suddenly eased up about it going as far as to say that the Alpha wouldn't mind informality if it came from me.

"Of course, he wouldn't mind, since it was you"

So...what changed?

And now that I think about it, that night when I had spoken with Roma she had said some very strange things which now seemed to fit in.

"What people indeed", she had said when I asked her what people the Alpha ruled over.

"Let's just say...they're a people you don't know of..."

...yet...

I gulped. Well, now I did.

And of course not to forget the one person who constantly brought up wolves time and time again, made me rake my brain for answers I didn't even know I had and always left me hanging with words of caution and advice that always held unspoken secrets.

Mr. Penson

Now that I thought about it, it was a miracle I had managed to stay in the dark for so long given all the instances that he had hinted it to me.

"Do they have any wolves in the middle East? Have you ever seen any? Do you know anything about them?"

Back then I had thought Mr. Penson just had an unhealthy obsession with the animal. Little did I know...

"Don't forget. Jungles, forests and woods are called 'The Wild' for a reason"

"Do you know what exactly the ancient people of the forest heard? They heard howling"

"Probably by a wolf... A colossal beast, with fur that shines and dark eyes that blaze. A strong, large, powerful creature that howls to the moon and challenges the sun"

"Isn't it strange that an emblem of a wolf that was designed and created many hundred years ago resembles our Alpha King so very accurately?"

My heart rate sped up as my mind recalled the several hints Mr. Penson had thrown my way during my time here and I felt chills run down my spine as I remembered one last thing he had said.

"She knows"

My eyes shot up to Mr. Penson and they went wide when they discovered that he was already looking at me. Not just him but all the men in the car were looking my way.

Or rather...all the wolves!

"Are you alright Ms. Winters?" Alpha Penson asked me and I swallowed the scream that had made its way to my throat and nodded shakily.

"You look pale, and you're shivering" Master Cole stated.

"Are you unwell?" Mr. Talon asked worriedly turning towards me and I looked at him with sad eyes.

Et tu, Mr. Talon?

Even he was one of them. Not trusting my voice I just stared at my feet and shook my head quickly.

"Come to think of it the weather here has been kind of cold lately which is really weird. I mean it's in the middle of summer and the capital has had nothing but clouds and rain", Alpha Marco stated looking out of his window.

"I swear if she falls sick due to this bad weather I'm going to kill Rino", Alpha Zuerien said seriously and I felt more chills run down my spine.

Kill...somehow that threat seemed far more real now than ever before...

And yet again there was the mention of the mystery guy who everyone kept bashing up for the bad weather. The guy who had mentioned the word Luna...that guy obviously also knew about them, if he wasn't also one of them that is...

Alpha Marco looked towards Alpha Zuerien, "Yeah is Rino alright?"

"He's fine, just being his over-dramatic self. I called him the other day. The fool is having mood swings", Alpha Zuerien said irritably.

Alpha Marco laughed, "Well he needs to stop being hormonal. We need fair weather for the Games after all. And if he-"

Mr. Penson cleared his throat and Alpha Marco stopped talking. His eyes suddenly fell on me before they widened and he coughed, "I mean if his information about the sunny weather this week is wrong then it could be troublesome for us. He needs to reel in his mood swings and do his work right!"

His words seemed so made up that even Alpha Zuerien cringed at him.

"Either way it must be the weather that is causing the hum - I mean people to fall sick lately", Master Cole quickly changed the topic but I didn't miss his little stumble and it only made my tension rise.

Hum- human...it made sense, because he apparently wasn't one.

"Are you sure you're not coming down with something Ms. Winters?" he asked me and my back went stiff as I shook my head again.

I didn't have time to react as suddenly Alpha Zuerien bent forward towards me and his hand came up to my face.

"Let me see", he said softly before placing his warm hand against my forehead recreating the tsunami of tingles I hadn't seen coming.

I bit my lip to suppress a gasp and his hand slid down my face and pressed against my neck, "She doesn't have a fever", he stated thoughtfully, "She's actually really cold...and she's sweating"

"A cold sweat?" Alpha Penson said softly and I gulped, "Are you nervous about something Ms. Winters?"

Yes...about dying!

"Uh..." I fumbled with what to say, "I guess since this is my first time going to such an event I'm a little...jittery", I replied trying to keep my voice from wavering.

"It's nothing to worry about really", Alpha Marco said bending forward to look at me, "I told you, I'm in charge of the games this year, it'll be perfect! And we'll make sure no one pranks you either", he added with a smile but it only made my apprehension worse.

Had they really been pranks? Somehow I seriously doubt it now...

"Speaking of pranks", Mr. Penson spoke up making my tense gaze fall on him, "I have pictures of all men with blue green eyes who work here at Royale industries. There aren't that many because blue-green eyes are quite rare. It's most likely that one of these is the man who pranked you", as he said this Mr. Penson's eyes twinkled in the way they only did when I knew he was up to something.

He moved forward on his seat and held the photos out and everyone including a disoriented myself bent in to have a look at them.

The first photograph was of a young blonde guy with a small scar on the left side of his chin who was grinning widely. His eyes were far too blue to be the color I had seen. All the me- wolves around me gave Mr. Penson blank looks as though implying that there was no way this could be the guy and I affirmed their unspoken thoughts by shaking my head.

The next photograph was of another blonde who was middle aged but had green eyes and I shook my head yet again. We went over half a dozen photographs like that and even though I was heavily disturbed by being in such close proximity of wolf-human...people, I too was eager to find the creepy guy in the woods.

When Mr. Penson pulled out the seventh photograph everyone's eyes widened and Mr. Talon gasped.

"B-but sir, he isn't even-"

There was a chorus of 'shushes' around me and I immediately grew wary of them.

"He isn't what?" I asked, the resolve in my voice conveying that I wouldn't back down till I got an answer.

Everyone exchanged glances and I felt my anxiety spike.

"He isn't...working for us anymore", Mr. Penson said thoughtfully but I could sense truth in his voice.

"But why show me his picture then?" I asked.

"Because I believe that just because he isn't working here anymore doesn't rule him out as a suspect", Mr. Penson stated and Alpha Marco snorted and mumbled something that made Alpha Zuerien whack him on the head with a newspaper making him cry out in shock and Alpha Penson shake his head.

I had faintly heard him but I couldn't make out what he had said as to me it had sounded like, "More li....jut...isenere"

"What is his name?" I asked and everyone's eyes widened and shot to me.

"Evan Stanlings", Master Cole answered excitedly before Mr. Penson could and for a split second I thought I saw a hint of irritation and disapproval cross Mr. Penson's face.

Evan Stanlings...

"Is it him?" Master Cole asked eagerly and I looked up at him with guarded eyes...and shook my head.

Everyone slumped or sighed in disappointment except Alpha Penson who regarded me silently with his wise eyes. I held his stare and his eyes glinted for a second before he smiled and shook his head.

I didn't know what he had read in my eyes but the soft look on his face told me he understood much more than he let on. He pulled out another photograph and everyone tensed. I shook my head. Yet another and again I replied in the negative. Finally there was only one photograph left. Everyone sat attentively as the suspense clawed at our skins.

My palms became clammy and I shuddered and almost instantly Alpha Zuerien's arm came around me and rubbed my back. The warmth of his hand and the tingles helped calm my inner distress, which was very strange seeing as he was the one responsible for most of it. And I wondered why it was that despite knowing what he was, I still couldn't help but feel drawn to him.

It truly unnerved me...

The last photograph came into view and I released the breath I didn't realize I had been holding in. A middle aged blonde haired, blue green eyed man stared back at me silently through the confines of the photograph and my entire body slumped under the realization that the photograph brought.

I sighed, "No...it's not him"

A chorus of frustrated groans filled the car and even Alpha Zuerien sighed in disappointment.

"So it's not anyone working for the Royale industries then?" I asked and Alpha Penson nodded, "It would seem so", he stated but something about his tone told me he had gained something from this exercise we just did.

But question is...what?

"But that means that some outsiders are trespassing on the Royale territory", Mr. Talon stated worriedly and Mr. Penson exchanged glances with Alpha Zuerien.

"Cole, call Del and tell him to do a thorough sweep of the territory with the other patrol members", Alpha Zuerien said, "I don't want any area to go unchecked. Even have them check the staff quarters before they make their way to the site of the Annual Games"

"Yes Alpha", Master Cole replied and made the call.

I knew it was probably a matter of great concern that some outsider had stumbled into their territory, especially seeing as they were protecting secrets of such gargantuan proportions that if the news ever leaked there would be chaos everywhere, maybe even World war III.

So how was it that the men in this car still remained so calm about it all? And how had they managed to keep such a huge revelation a secret from the rest of the world for so long? According to Mr. Penson, the Royale family line went back many hundred years, so did that mean they had all been wolf men? Or were the present generation of males some strange radioactively converted mutants?

Only men?...

Roma knew about the Alpha and his people and Annabelle had healed at an unnatural speed. So that meant, they too were...

With great difficulty I bit back the urge to scream like a banshee. Was there anybody else who was human here apart from me???!

Only here?...

Resisting the need to yank that annoying voice in my head out of there, I concentrated on what it had stated. The Royale Industries was a multi-national company. They had branches all over the world. So did that mean that wolf men and women existed all over the world?

And according to Alpha Penson many employees from those other branches would be at the Annual Games! Was...was this event an 'All supernatural being' event? Would I be the only human there?! And if so...why me? Why did they insist on taking me with them when I was clearly not one of them?!!

"My queen...my Luna"

My eyes went wide as I remembered what I had heard the Alpha whisper to me that day when he had nearly bitten into me. Had he...had he been talking about me?

My gaze slowly rose to look at the Alpha and my body jerked in alarm when I found him already looking at me with his intense chocolate brown orbs. I immediately looked away and out of the window. Outside, the clouds were thick and I could almost see the impending rain they were holding back.

"Argh man! What is it with this god awful weather? I'm calling Rino", Alpha Marco said irritably, "And Talon, tell the driver to turn down the air conditioning, Ms. Winters might get cold"

I would have thanked him but truth was I wasn't cold at all; on the contrary my body was burning under Alpha Zuerien's heated gaze. I could feel his eyes roaming over my body and I cursed myself for having chosen a dress instead of trousers.

My gaze flicked to him to find him gazing at my neck, the same side where his teeth had grazed me that day and I felt heat rise to my cheeks. He was sitting with his elbow on the hand rest and his fist pressed against his mouth, his long legs kept brushing against my bare ones and I sat a little more upright to try and avoid the contact.

From the corner of my eye I saw his gaze descend down my neck and I blushed harder as I desperately controlled the urge to adjust my dress.

Was my bra visible?

Was my dress transparent?

Was my cleavage showing?!

OH GOD why is this shameless man-animal-person checking me out so blatantly in the presence of four other men?!

His eyes fell to my legs and my tension spiked. Oh God, don't tell me, my dress! My dress isn't...it isn't torn again is it??!!

My hand immediately slid down my thigh searching for the cut, slit, tear or whatever else I had come to dread even more than being shot! But my eyebrows furrowed and confusion marred my features when I found everything down there intact. Puzzled my eyes went to the CEO to find him looking out the window, his fist on his mouth barely concealing the wide smirk he was sporting.

EEESHH he knew what I was doing?!

His eyes moved to me and the mischievous look in them made my breathing hitch. My skin was burning so bright that I was surprised I hadn't blown up like a firework on a festival. I pulled my cardigan closer around myself and pressed my body further into my seat as far away from him as possible.

"We can't have weather like this right now Rino. You have to get it together!" Alpha Marco spoke into his phone catching my attention, "No! No you can't talk to the Quee-"

Five bewildered stares, mine included fell on Alpha Marco as he stopped mid-sentence and the way his eyes flicked towards me didn't go unnoticed by me, or Alpha Zuerien, as a low growl rumbled through his chest making me want to jump out the window next to me and run away screaming.

Alpha Marco gulped before his face scrunched up in thought and then he scowled, "Tell Prophecy to stop creating trouble that other people have to clean up. She'll see her at the games, why does she want to speak on the phone?"

I frowned in thought at what Alpha Marco could be talking about when Master Cole spoke up, "We're nearing the location Alpha. The road gets kind of rough from here"

"Oh for crying out loud, is it my fault you're the only one who hasn't met her yet Prophecy?!" Master Marco yelled into the phone, "How on Earth did I get stuck with such a difficult cousin?!"

His cousin?

The road started to get bumpy and keeping my legs from touching the Alpha's started becoming harder.

"Oh d-dear", Mr. Talon mumbled as his handwriting on his notepad started to resemble dead insects.

"We haven't had any news of the other two Lunas", my ears perked up at Alpha Marco's words, "Only Prophecy has seen them, apparently"

The road suddenly started to resemble a shifting sand dune and the seats a bounce house as I and Mr. Talon juggled around on our seats while the rest of the men shockingly managed to remain quite still.

"I know how you feel about this matter Rino, but she- we- we're not in a position to take her help", Alpha Marco spoke into the phone, "she doesn't know yet"

If he was talking about me, oh how wrong he was...

"No Rino, not now!" Alpha Marco yelled.

A bolt of lightning struck across the sky and a startled scream escaped my lips as the weather outside turned dark and stormy. Immediately Alpha Zuerien's warm hand appeared on my right knee and my head shot up to find his eyes warm and reassuring, "It's okay", he whispered to which I nodded shakily and his eyes moved to Alpha Marco.

"Okay, okay, okay, Rino, just calm down will you?" Alpha Marco's voice sounded panicked and suddenly everyone in the car was concentrating on their conversation, "Look it can't be helped"

Thunder sounded in the distance and the terrible road started to resemble an earthquake making fear course through me. What was going on???

"Marco", Alpha Marco looked towards Alpha Zuerien who motioned coolly for him to give him the phone.

"Here, speak to the King", Alpha Marco said before bending to hand the phone to Alpha Zuerien.

"Rino", Alpha Zuerien spoke into the phone calmly and there was some loud rumbling from the other side of the line, "Rino, calm down", Alpha Zuerien said which was followed by yet another bolt of lightning and loud thunder.

Both I and Mr. Talon jumped at the sound and Alpha Zuerien's eyes fell on my scared face and his eyes darkened.

"Rino I said calm down!" he called into the phone loudly and almost instantly the shouting on the other side of the line stopped.

It was as if even nature was obeying Alpha Zuerien's command as the clouds suddenly seemed to thin and the road became more even. I could no longer hear any rumbling from the other side of the line which told me he was now speaking softly and not shouting like earlier.

I looked to Mr. Talon and he gave me a smile and patted my hand. Even though they were not human, I had received nothing but kindness from all the men sitting with me. So was it really right for me to judge them as the bad guys because they happened to a different species than me?

"Rino, she is human"

My eyes shot up to Alpha Zuerien just as his eyes left my face and he looked out of his window.

He was...talking about me!

Pin drop silence descended upon us as all attention was directed towards the Alpha King. After a short while Alpha Zuerien nodded, "Okay, I'll see you there", he spoke into the phone before promptly cutting the line.

We all sat in silence for some time as the weather outside cleared and the sky appeared brighter. The now even road made it hard not to notice the silence till Alpha Marco spoke up, "Well, that was something huh? At least the road seems better now", he added with a smile.

As sudden as a snap, the car jerked into the air as it hit a brutal bump in the road and I didn't even have the time to scream as I flew off my seat and onto Alpha Zuerien. My hands grabbed onto the hand rest and his shirt as my face collided with his hard muscular chest and my legs tangled with his. Two large hands came around me immediately, one going around my waist while the other went to my thighs and I felt it smooth my dress down.

It was safe to say that despite my heavily disoriented state embarrassment came as fast as a gust of wind. I quickly tried to remove my body from the Alpha's but his large hands held me to him. I lifted my aching face from his chest only to find a shocked Master Cole gaping angrily at an equally if not more shocked Mr. Talon who was now sitting on his lap.

"Get off!" Master Cole screeched in irritation and hastily pushed Mr. Talon off him and onto the opposite seat while Master Marco too settled into his seat.

He too had fallen forwards but steadied himself by grabbing onto Alpha Penson's knees. So now that left only me still perched gawkily on the Alpha King's lap and sticking out like a sore thumb. With a screech I tried to untangle myself from him yet again but his hands held me firmly in place. I glared at him.

Really? NOW?!!

He smirked and this time I did step on his foot hard, too bad I wasn't wearing heels. His eyes widened ever so slightly before he dug his fingers into my waist making me jump as the ticklish feeling hit me like an electric shock. He pulled me up and separated his legs seating me in between them.

Oh God why?!!

"S-s-sir!" I wiggled in his grip feeling as flushed as an Eskimo at the equator and whisper yelled, "please let go!"

His smirk widened and his grip tightened. I whisper shrieked and peeked at the other men in the car and to my utmost horror and embarrassment all their heads were turned all the way to the other side.

"No can do", Alpha Zuerien whispered and to my shock he once again buried his face in my neck.

Gaaaahhh! Nooo! Not in front of everyone!

My eyes widened in shock and I quickly corrected myself in my head, Gaaaahhh! Nooo! Period.

He inhaled deeply and I remembered how he had said he like my Arabian scent, which by the way should not exist!

"I can't seem to get enough of it"

I blushed at the remembrance of his words. Why did he insist on being so touchy feely with me all the time?!

Why with ME?

"Mine", he whispered against my neck and a gasp escaped my lips as waves of warmth and pleasure seared through my hot skin.

"My Queen...my Luna"

My world suddenly stopped on hearing that one word that he had whispered so wholeheartedly. My body was suddenly flooded with a feeling of joy and affection so intense that I almost couldn't contain it. But amidst all that intensity there was one corner, one dark corner of longing which didn't overpower the other emotions but didn't disappear in their presence either.

And the most bewildering part of all this was, that these weren't even my feelings, they were someone else's. And something told me, I knew that someone else.

The skin by the left side of my neck started to tingle as though in anticipation of something and I found myself awaiting that something with conflicting emotions of excitement and fear. And when that something didn't happen, I found both disappointment and relief flood through my body.

The Alpha sighed heavily against my skin before lifting his head giving me the opportunity to look up into his eyes. And as I had expected, I found them a few shades darker and a whole lot stormier. He clenched his jaw and looked out the window and I knew he was restraining himself. But from doing what?...

I was quite shocked when the car suddenly stopped and four large men quickly scrambled out of the door on the other side. I didn't know what to do. Get up? Stay seated? Move closer? Pull away???

"Let's go", the Alpha said resolving my dilemma and I nodded vigorously, eager to get back my clarity of mind.

He opened the door and I quickly slid off the seat and got out of the limousine. My flushed skin was greeted with a gust of cool refreshing air and I found myself inhaling deeply.

In front of me was a vast, clear, grass laden area surrounded on all sides by a thick blanket of trees. Neatly fenced cobblestone pathways lead into the trees in various directions. A large wooden hut resembling a boat was right in front of me where a group of males and females dressed casually were standing, talking or walking around. On an archway in front of it hung a large signboard that read "THE ANNUAL GAMES" in letters so big that one could probably see them from the moon.

A large hand pressed against my back and I looked up to see the Alpha looking down at me tenderly. The limousine drove away as soon as all of us got off.

"Welcome to the Annual Games Ms. Winters", Alpha Marco said walking up to us, "What do you think?"

The place was truly breathtaking. Everything about it was so refreshing and serene that it instantly filled me with a feeling of peace.

"She hasn't even seen anything yet Alpha Marco", Master Cole said smiling.

Alpha Marco pointed to the large wooden hut, "you see that there? That is the reception area. All the fenced pathways either lead here, to the restaurant or to Game grounds so no need to worry about getting lost"

He pointed to several direction boards embedded near all those cobblestone pathways that were leading into the trees. Each had symbols and directions of various areas.

The board closest to me on my left read:

Rooms - Straight and left

Bathrooms- Straight and right

Lounge and Restaurant - Straight

The board on my far right read:

Swimming pool- Straight and left

Gym- Straight and right

Game Grounds- Straight

This place was nothing short of a five-star resort! I was still busy gawking at the place when a group of young men in black and white uniforms came up to us and offered to take us to our rooms. Alpha Marco, Master Cole and Mr. Talon left with them. Before leaving Mr. Talon turned towards me and smiled, and I involuntarily smiled back. I couldn't help it, even if he was part of this country's fauna. After all, it was Mr. Talon!

"Oh Ms. Winters, I almost forgot to tell you", Alpha Penson's voice brought me out of my thoughts, "As I mentioned before, people from branches of the Royale Industries all over the world are here and in order to encourage friendship, you will be placed with a roommate"

My high spirits suddenly fell. I had only just managed to get along with one roommate, not to mention with great difficulty, and now I would be forced into one room with another! WHYYY?!

Having noticed my suddenly crestfallen face Alpha Penson continued, "Don't worry, your roommate will be a female and will be chosen based on whatever room number you choose"

An attendant came over with a bowl of colorful balls in it, each with a number on it. Alpha Penson motioned for me to take one and I picked the ball with the number 8 written on it. Beside me Alpha Zuerien breathed out a sigh and I wondered whether it was one of disappointment or relief.

The attendant scurried away and I frowned, "Won't you pick a lot?" I asked Alpha Penson and he smiled telling me he already did and when I turned to Alpha Zuerien questioningly he looked into my eyes with his warm brown ones.

"I don't pick lots. I choose whatever I want for myself", my eyes widened when he stepped closer to me and bent down so his mouth was right next to my ear and whispered, "And I always get what I want"

He stepped away from me and smirked at me before turning and walking away with Alpha Penson leaving me stunned and wondering about the hidden meaning in his statement. A female attendant came up to me and offered to show me my room saying that my luggage had just been delivered there.

After walking down a few clearly demarcated fenced pathways we came across a series of beautifully designed huts decorated to look like they were made of hay. Each had a beautiful wooden door decorated with flowers and a number. The attendant left me at room number 8 and I stood outside the door biting my lip and wondering how I was going to spend a week with another unknown wolf woman.

Gulping, I slowly opened the door. The room inside was perfectly homey. One window on each side, a little wooden desk in between and two beds, one of which was occupied by the owner of a set of green eyes that now regarded me with silent curiosity.

I bit my lip and stepped into the room nervously wondering if I should brace myself for an attack or turn and run away. I was surprised when there arose no need to do either as the beautiful red head in front of me smiled softly at me.

Relief flooded through me and I smiled back at her. She stood up and extended her hand towards me.

"Hi", she said calmly, "I'm Megan Houston"

"Suzzanah Winters", I said taking her hand and shaking it, "Nice to meet you"

"Likewise", she said and withdrew her hand, "I'm here from the Royale Industries branch in Sydney and you?"

"Oh I work in the branch here", I told her, "I'm Al- I mean Mr. Penson's P.A" I quickly corrected myself just in case she was human and didn't know about Alphas or in case she was a wolf and suspected me of being a threat as I was a human and still knew about them.

"Mr. John Penson?" she asked and I nodded. She smiled impressed, "I see", she said and smiled again.

Her tone was calm and even, and she never raised her voice by even an octave. She gave off a very serene, quiet and mature kind of feel reminding me quite a bit of Mr. Penson.

"Do you mind taking the bed on the left or should I move?" she asked me.

"Oh no, I don't mind at all, thanks", I said and she nodded before settling down on her bed with a book.

I closed the door and opened the window on my side of the hut letting fresh air into the room. After breathing deeply I settled onto my bed thinking about all the things that I had discovered this morning.

I was working for a group of wolf-human supernaturals who had secluded themselves in the midst of a forest. The CEO was apparently a King in addition to being the most powerful animal I had ever laid eyes on, had some serious pathology in his ever changing eyes and for some reason was hugely possessive of...me.

"I always get what I want"

I blushed and squeezed my eyes shut, shaking my head vigorously to get rid of that thought only to find Megan watching me thoughtfully from where she was sitting silently on her bed when I opened them. My eyes went wide in realization of how unnecessarily animated I was being and I quickly smiled at her.

She smiled back softly before returning her calm gaze to her book and I was grateful that she didn't ask me about my bizarre behavior. I turned away from her land looked out of my window which faced room number 7 and wondered who was staying in that room.

Who...or what?!

I gulped as the panic threatened to resurface. Clenching my fists I quickly walked to the door to leave, not wanting to act like a lunatic in front of my new roommate.

Luna-tic

ARRRRGGHHH

I grabbed the door knob and yanked the door open. Not wanting to seem rude I turned to tell Megan I was going for a walk but yet again found her already looking my way. Her green eyes remained cool and indifferent but something about them told me she wasn't quite as detached as she came off. Not at all.

"I thought I'd go for a walk", I told her and she nodded.

"Okay"

I smiled, "I'll see you at the breakfast table then"

For a few seconds she didn't reply but for a brief moment her eyebrows knit together as though something was worrying her, as though something was wrong. But the action had been so fleeting that I couldn't be sure I had actually seen it.

"Yeah", she replied softly before promptly returning to her book.

I quickly stepped out of the room and closed the door behind me. Slowly I began walking down the fenced pathway. The air outside was fresh and cool and it helped soothe my frazzled nerves, but only barely, as my mind returned to the disturbing thoughts of shape-shifting humans, one of them to be precise.

Alpha Zuerien Kai Royale, Alpha Supreme, the Wolf in the Woods!

The thought of his name made me shiver, but the strange thing was I shivered due to a feeling of warmth and pleasure and not of cold and fear. I didn't think there was anything that could bother me more than the fact that I was surrounded by creatures that had up until a few hours ago existed only inside of books, movies and wild imaginations. But as the wave of warmth and pleasure passed leaving my body pleasantly tingling, I realized with a strangled breath, that there indeed was something else. Something which actually troubled me far more than supernatural beings...and that was this.

Why was it that a wolf-human supernatural being such as him made me feel so...right?!

When I was with him, I felt a strange sense of warmth, of safety, of belonging! Even this morning, upon discovering the truth about him, when I deemed him as dangerous, when he held me close to himself and buried his face in my neck, I didn't offer as much resistance as I could have.

The rational part of me, that was my mind, had been screaming at me to get away. He wasn't human, heck he wasn't even supposed to exist! So why had I let him do as he pleased? Why had I not pulled away?

Goosebumps formed on my skin as I became more and more aware of the most unnerving fact that my mind was so transparently conveying to me.

Maybe because a larger, firmer, stronger part of me didn't want to pull away. The feeler part of me, that was my heart, had overpowered my mind and kept me where I was, pressed closely against that person who was part wolf, part human, but all Man. Maybe it was because some part of me had wanted to be exactly where I had been, always and forever in the arms of that person who had whispered that one word to me.

Mine...

Maybe because my heart which longed for an 'Unconditionally' of its own had recognized it before my mind could. And maybe because no matter how much I denied it, I knew...somewhere deep, deep, deep inside of me I knew, that I actually liked being irrational, being there in his arms...

...being his...
