Suzzanah's POV

I heard it. I definitely heard it.

My eyes left the large wolf's brown ones to frantically search the foggy vicinity, which now looked much clearer. But they didn't find the object of their interest there.

But I heard it, his voice!

I was still panting, but not quite as heavily, and my nerves were starting to calm down. And although my mind still felt greatly muddled, I was very much aware of the large animal sitting behind me, as its warm breath fanned my neck and its soft fur grazed my body.

My confused wide eyes returned to chocolaty ones that had never left my face. Where had it come from? I had been so wrapped up in my very own horror story that I didn't even notice.

Had any of that really happened?

I gulped and looked around again, not able to comprehend anything. I was so confused. What the heck was going on with me? Was I going crazy? I held my head in my hands, fisting my hair in frustration.

Why is this happening? What was that shadow? What was that floating figure? What is up with those creepy whispers? Who the heck is this Luna?!

I felt the wolf's muzzle against my hand, once, twice and then a soft sound. I immediately dropped my hands and looked at it to find its warm eyes looking...worried?

It kept looking at me with its intense brown eyes. There was something about this wolf's eyes that unnerved me. They were intelligent and knowing. Why did they look so human? But more importantly, why did they look so much like a particular human's?

As quick as I could I stood up, albeit unsteadily and moved away from the wolf as it imitated my actions and stood too. And my, my what a mighty sight it was. This animal was far too large for comfort. It pinned me with its intense gaze as I stared at it warily. It was like it was watching my every move, even those I didn't know I was making. I gulped.

"Y-you! What are you doing here?" I said, my voice coming out raspy.

I felt incredibly stupid to be asking a wolf that but there was a part of me that expected some form of reaction from it in reply. But all it got was a twitch of its ear. I gulped again.

"Wh-what's going on? I know something is up", I spoke, more to myself than to the wolf, "Is the CEO here?"

I was surprised when the wolf's eyes narrowed as though it understood what I was saying.

"He is isn't he? I heard him!"

Its eyes went wide and so did mine.

Wow, I wasn't expecting such an elaborate reaction.

The wolf almost looked shocked at what I had said. This animal definitely understood what I was saying.

But how...never mind that!

"Where is he?" I asked looking around, "Sir?" I called out, but got no reply.

I felt really silly calling out to the CEO knowing that if he did show up, I'd be gob-smacked and too embarrassed to say anything but right now I didn't care about that.

"I refuse to believe that I'm going insane", I whispered to myself, "I heard his voice and that means he is here!"

I cupped my mouth with one hand and called out louder, "SIR?"

Still no reply, but the wolf's ears twitched again as it now gazed at the ground with its wide brown orbs. I narrowed my eyes at it. This animal definitely knew something I didn't.

Heck, now even animals know more than I do!

Maybe this wolf was domestic after all. Maybe it was a pet. And seeing as his eyes and that golden streak had such an uncanny resemblance to the CEO, maybe...the CEO's pet? Worth a shot...

"Please take me to him!" I said to the wolf taking a step towards it making its head jerk towards mine as though I had awoken it from a trance.

"I know he is here. You know him right?"

The wolf didn't move but something about its eyes told me it understood what I was saying.

That or I was insan- NO!

"The CEO! Do you know him?" I asked and then cringed hitting my head with my fist, "Stupid idiot! Suzzanah there are like a million and one CEO's on this planet. Be more specific", I told myself.

A name. Use his name. What was his name?

It hit me immediately, "Zuerien", I whispered and from my peripheral vision I saw the animal stiffen, but something about the name felt off, it needed some sort of title attached to it.

"Alpha Zuerien", I said louder and turned my head to look at the wolf, but was shocked to see it suddenly look panicked. The large wolf's eyes widened even more, something I didn't think was possible. Its body went stiff and its muscles rippled underneath the rich black fur.

Is it alright?

I gazed at its tense stance and wondered if I had said something wrong, "Alpha..." its heels pressed into the ground and its body constricted, "Zuer-"

A growl escaped the large animal making me gasp. Its stance looked threatening now, its eyes were narrowed and its gaze intense.

What? What did I do?

"Z-z-", another low growl followed and my fear peaked. I brought my hands in front of myself in surrender, "please calm down", I pleaded and immediately its body seemed to relax.

It continued to regard me with cautious eyes but its stance was much less threatening than before. I didn't understand what I had done wrong. I sucked in a breath and crossed my fingers.

"Alpha Zuerien", I called out loud and immediately its body tensed again and a fire returned to its eyes. This animal really didn't like the CEO, or just the name Zuerien.

Let's try another name then. His middle name maybe?

"Kai", I called out and I had no time to react as within a split second the large animal was up in my face. A shriek escaped my lips as I slipped and fell on my butt against a tree.

The large wolf stood upon me, its strong sturdy legs on either side of my body, its head bent close to mine. Fear coursed through my veins as I shielded my face with my hands, "Oh God! I'm sorry, please don't eat me", I squeaked as I felt its breath on my forearms.

Why did this wolf seem to rage like a tornado every time I mentioned the CEO's name? As if it wasn't bad enough that almost every other person I met was terrified of him, he had to go have bad blood with animals too?

I sat like that, on the ground, with the large animal atop me, my frame seeming Lilliputian in comparison. A few seconds passed and I felt its nose against my forearm. I peeked through the gap between my hands but I couldn't see its face.

I felt its nose on my hand again and I tried to move away from it. Suddenly it pushed at my hands forcefully with its head taking me by surprise as my hands fell away from my face.

I stared at it wide eyed as its chocolaty orbs searched my face, examining every one of my facial features with keen eyes before the sharp look in them softened and its gaze met mine. It looked into my eyes a little longer and just when I thought I would move away, it buried its large head in the crook of my neck.

To say I was shocked would be a HUGE understatement. But the shock was less from its action and more from a memory.

That time outside the hospital when the CEO had buried his face in my hair flashed in my mind, and my eyes went wide. But I didn't have time to ponder over it as the animal suddenly raised its head and looked into my eyes again.

I regarded it uncertainly. Its body suddenly went stiff and it looked away from me. Its brown orbs abruptly glazed over and I stared at it puzzled. It stood over me, unmoving and as still as a stone.

After looking at it for a few more seconds, I attempted to get up. Its huge body was still in the way, but I could still manage to squeeze myself out from underneath it. Using the tree trunk for support, I lifted my body up on my hands, being careful not to disturb the suddenly paralysed wolf.

What was it doing?

I managed to squat awkwardly between the wolf and the tree behind me, then I slowly started to stand. But when I was still just halfway there, the wolf seemed to snap out of its trance and its eyes immediately found my frame pressed against the tree.

I must have looked very silly, with my knees bent and butt sticking out, like I was sitting on an imaginary chair. I could have sworn I saw something like a frown spread across the animal's face. But what I didn't expect was for it to suddenly push its head underneath my bottom and push me up so I was standing straight.

"Aaaahhh!" a surprised squeal escaped my lips as I covered my butt with my hands and moved away from the animal. It snorted.

It snorted??!!

I took another step away from it but it noticed and quickly walked up to me. It was such a large animal that its head almost came up to neck.

It lowered its head and pressed its muzzle into my stomach making me jump at how ticklish it felt. Ignoring me, it repeated its action making me wiggle away from it.

What the heck in this animal doing??

It took another step towards me and pressed the top of its head to my chest pushing me back.

"Eeeee!" I screeched in alarm and covered my chest with my hands but it just pushed at my waist next.

"Aiyyaah! Stop it you!" I yelled but it didn't listen and pushed at my butt next.

Another high pitch squeal escaped my lips. This animal is harassing me!

"Don't!" I swatted my hands at it like it was a fly and another irritated expression flashed in its eyes before it pushed my shoulder.

"Stop doing that you-you-you shameless animal!" I squealed making it raise its head and give me a look best described as shock. Before I could move away it pressed its head into my lower back and started pushing me. My legs moved taking quick steps as the wolf continued to push at me while walking itself.

"What has suddenly possessed your wolf body?" I asked trying to push my legs into the ground to stop walking but the wolf snorted again and pushed harder.

I let out a frustrated breath and wiggled away from it making it growl.

"Stop it, I'm ticklish!" I yelled and I was shocked into the afterlife and back when I saw it roll its eyes.

I was still gawking when it bent low and pushed at my knees.

What is it do-...!

I looked at the wolf and then at the tree I had fallen against, then back at the wolf again. It pushed at my legs and I let it. That's what it's doing.

Its leading me!...somewhere...

"You want me to go this way?" I asked and it looked up at me before releasing a breath from its nose and walking ahead of me. Once it was a foot in front of me, it turned its head to look at me and jerked it in the direction it wanted to go in.

My lips formed and 'O' before I took an uncertain step forward, then another. Once satisfied that I was following, it started walking ahead.

I continued to stare at it as I followed. I was very impressed with this animal. It was unlike any other I had ever come across. There was a strange intelligence in its eyes, a charm in its movements.

I admired the wolf's strong sturdy build. Its muscles rippled as it walked, its fur shone majestically. It walked with its head held high. A proud animal, no doubt, and most definitely, a powerful one.

But when my gaze reached its head, I found that it had stopped walking and was regarding me with its hawk-like eyes again. I smiled at it and its eyes widened ever so slightly before it turned its head and started walking again.

But where was it leading me?

"So...where are we going?" I asked and then mentally chided myself at my stupidity.

It's an animal you fool! How will it talk to you?!

As expected, the wolf didn't say anything, thankfully. If it had, I would have died of shock.

But then...how had I heard the CEO's voice in my head earlier? Had my mind really just made it up?

I bit my lip and continued to watch as the majestic animal made a turn and started walking down another haphazard path.

"You...you're not...you're not going to eat me are you?" I asked and I saw its muscles tense but it continued walking.

"Please don't, okay?" I said softly and I heard it release another breath.

I sighed. I'd just have to take that as a yes. As we walked further and further, the air seemed to get clearer. It was like this wolf's presence was dispersing the fog.

Did that even make any sense?

After a while I felt the need to say something again so I did.

"Are you a pet animal?"

The wolf stopped in its tracks and jerked its head to look at me. Its mouth curled in a snarl revealing sharp canines. I gulped and bent my head back smiling nervously at it, "No, not a pet", I said and its mouth closed and it started walking again.

"I mean I just asked because, I don't know, you understand me", I continued, "It's not every day that I meet a wolf the size of an elephant who understands what I say. My sister once told me that most humans don't even understand what the heck I'm saying you know"

I laughed awkwardly but when I didn't get any sort of response from the animal I stopped abruptly and cleared my throat. Was it even listening to me?

"I know it's asking for a lot, but since you can understand me, I'd really appreciate some sort of response", I said but I still got none making me pout, "Meanie".

We walked on and as time went by I felt more and more at ease around the giant animal. I talked about random stuff like how the beautiful the forest was and how fresh the air felt but it didn't so much as look back at me. After a while, I started to feel annoyed so I decided to annoy it in return.

"So, are you male or female?"

The wolf stopped abruptly in its tracks and I looked up to see it staring at me with a mix of extreme anger and shock.

Somehow I didn't feel afraid. On the contrary I bit my lip trying not to smile, "What? It's just a question? If you're male then go 'Grrr' like you usually do. If you're female please turn and continue walking ahead"

It did neither, but turned and stalked towards me, power and rage radiating off its large body. My eyes widened and I took a step back.

It approached me with narrowed eyes and I returned the gesture, "This action doesn't answer my question. If you choose neither of my options then what am I supposed to make of it? Either you're both or neither"

A loud ear-splitting growl filled the air making me shriek and cover my ears.

"Calm down!" I said quickly, "I was just kidding"

Before I could react it bent its head and tore a big piece of cloth right off the side of my skirt.

"AAAAHHHH!" I screeched in shock and gaped at the slit on the side of my skirt that now exposed my thigh.

"You-You-YOU PERVERT!" I yelled trying to pull the sides together, but then I realized what happened the last time I had tried to do that and quickly stopped.

I looked back up at the wolf only to find haughty eyes looking back at me. The piece of my skirt hung from his mouth. I glared at him, feeling my cheeks burn.

"That's classified as assault!" I bellowed but he just snorted again before turning and walking ahead. I screeched in irritation before stomping after him muttering to myself.

"Stupid male wolf ripping my skirt. This is the second one in a row! At this rate I won't have any skirts left to wear to work"

The proud animal continued walking without a care but his ears were pointing upwards telling me he was listening.

I glared at him before looking back at my exposed thigh, "Of course you don't care about having destroyed my skirt! What would animals know about clothes anyway? They happen to be expensive! And I'm a poor person. At this rate my salary will leave my account even before it has been credited into it"

That thought made me feel depressed. I had bills I needed to pay, loans I needed to reimburse, funds I needed to save up. I whimpered sadly and immediately the wolf turned his head to look at me. I frowned and looked away.

He continued to stare at me and I returned my gaze to it, "What? Keep walking please, I need to get back on time or they might deduct my salary", I said unhappily, "I already took a week off for which I most likely won't get paid"

The wolf's eyes softened and he looked at the ground for a few seconds before he started walking again. I followed sulking, but it was only a matter of time before I got bored and started talking again.

"Where are we going?" I groaned, "Is it really far?"

Again he didn't respond in any way.

"Do I have to insult you every time I need a reaction from you?" I asked but I still got no response. I huffed and muttered, "Alpha males"

Alpha...

The CEO's face flashed before my eyes and my gaze slowly shifted to the magnificent animal walking beside me. I bit my lip before inhaling deeply.

"You have many traits that are similar to someone I know", I said softly but when I saw his muscles stiffen my interest peaked again. I would have to be careful not to rile him up like I had done a short while ago, but I was curious to find out why this wolf got so worked up over Alpha Zuerien's name.

"He is my boss", I continued, "The CEO to be precise, but you probably don't understand what that means"

He continued walking quietly.

"You both have that fancy golden streak through your hair" I said and brushed my fingers over the glistening band of fur. I felt the regal animal's muscles flexing under my touch, and he turned his head to look at my hand, torn piece of cloth no longer in his mouth. I immediately withdrew it.

"Sorry", I said and he turned his head away again.

"And you have the same eyes as him", I continued, remembering the CEO's mesmerizing brown eyes. They were like deep pools of intensity, every time I looked into them, I felt like drowning in their chocolaty depths.

"The same eyes as Alpha Zuerien", I whispered and from the corner of my eye I saw the wolf turn his head towards me again as I smiled reminiscently, "beautiful eyes", I whispered and looked at the wolf only to find the same beautiful eyes staring back intensely.

Staring at me, staring into me, staring at my soul.

And for a split second, the wolf was gone, and the CEO stood in his place, just like from my dream the other day. The same hair, the same eyes, the same intense gaze. I felt chills run down my spine as my eyes went wide as his voice from before filled my ears.

Its okay, I'm here...

I gasped and blinked and just like that, he was gone, and the wolf was standing before me again, still looking at me with his unwavering gaze.

I gulped and looked away. My mind was playing tricks on me again. I looked back at the wolf and smiled, "Sorry, I'm alright. Let's keep going", I said.

His eyes lingered on my frame a few seconds longer before he started walking again. For the next few minutes I remained silent thinking about everything that had happened today.

I needed to tell someone about this. Even if it sounded crazy and they decided to take me back to the doctor, I couldn't just ignore everything that had happened. Especially about those two creepy ethereal figures I had seen earlier.

What had happened back there?

The only person I could tell was Mr. Talon...Mr. TALON!!! My eyes bulged out of their sockets and I gasped out loud as I remembered that he had come into the forest with me. I had lost him!

"OH NO!!!!" I yelled making the wolf stop immediately and look back at me with wide eyes.

I pulled at my hair, "Mr. Talon! I forgot about Mr. Talon!" I shouted, "We have to go back!"

I turned around to run back but immediately my path was blocked by the wolf.

"Did you see him?" I asked frantically as panic filled my body, "he is about this tall, he's wearing a suit and tie and he has glasses", I said quickly, then groaned and held my head in my hands.

Of course a wild animal won't understand any of that, no matter how smart he is.

How had I forgotten about him? Who knows where he was now. Poor thing was probably worried sick about me, or maybe he too was lost? What if he had encountered a wolf too, a not so friendly one?! What if he was in trouble?

I started to hyperventilate and my heart beat sped up.

"Oh God, Mr. Talon", I whispered as my eyes started tearing up.

Immediately the wolf was beside me, his head bent, his inquisitive eyes boring into mine.

I looked at him through my teary eyes, "I lost my friend somewhere in the woods", I whispered feeling my heart constrict in worry, "I don't know what to do?"

The wolf's eyes softened and my lips trembled, "What if he's hurt? What if something happened to him?"

A strange resolve crossed his eyes and he raised his head. I was still breathing heavily when I suddenly felt a soft nudge on my shoulder. The wolf wanted me to follow him again.

"But...but..." he just softly nudged me again and waited for me to follow. My eyes widened.

"Do you know where he is?" I asked quickly and he bent his head before he started walking again.

I sighed in relief and smiled happily before wiping my eyes and quickly following after him. He had started walking faster and I was jogging to keep up with him. We took a few more twists and turns and soon the woods started to thin, the trees became scarcer and I started to recognize where we were.

As if on cue, the Royale Industries office building came into view and a joyous squeal escaped my lips. I could see the end of the woods now, but what elated me even more was the person standing there.

Mr. Talon was walking up and down, wringing his fingers, and then fisting his hair. A laugh escaped my lips and my gaze returned to the large wolf which now stared at me with soft eyes. I smiled widely at him before running and throwing my arms around his wide neck.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I cried hugging his neck tightly. His muscles tensed under my touch but soon relaxed and he buried his muzzle in my hair.

"You're always looking out for me", I whispered softly into its fur, "I'm so glad we met again, minus the skirt ripping part", I added with a laugh.

When I pulled away, the large kind wolf looked into my eyes with his beautiful brown ones and I smiled warmly at him.

"You need to go now, if anyone sees you, I don't know what they'll do", I whispered but his eyes didn't leave my face.

"Thank you for everything", I said wholeheartedly and ran my fingers through the soft fur on his head. He pressed his head further into my hand and my heart warmed at the gesture.

I bent down and pressed a kiss on the top of his head and a string of tingles erupted through my body. When I raised my head, the wolf's eyes were wide and an emotion very akin to affection swirled within their warm depths.

I smiled softly at the dear animal, "Let's meet again, friend", I said before slowly walking away from him, "Goodbye!" I called out before turning and running towards where Mr. Talon stood.

"Mr. Talon!" I called out making his gaze immediately zero in on me and I saw his eyes go wide as he released a loud breath. When I reached him, I immediately threw my arms around him and hugged him.

"I'm so glad you're alright!" I told him.

He tensed but then patted my head comfortingly before pulling away.

"Likewise child", he told me sincerely and I smiled at the sound of his familiar voice, "I was so worried about you! Are you alright? Are you hurt?" he asked frantically looking over me to check if I was alright, "AAAH! Your skirt again!" he cried out and I blushed.

"Yeah, it sort of...tore, again. But its okay, I'm okay", I told him honestly, "I got lost, but...managed to find my way out again, with some help."

I whispered the last part while trying to glance behind me see if the wolf had left.

"Hmm?"

"Uh, don't worry Mr. Talon", I said quickly, "but I didn't find the jacket!"

"Well, at least you're safe and back here now, so let's just forget about that godforsaken jacket and put this whole kerfuffle behind us", he said smiling at me while adjusting his glasses, "and you do realize that we are late! Lunch hour ended 15 minutes ago!"

I gasped and he nodded, "that's right, let's go. Later today I want to hear about everything that happened but for now we need to get back to work"

I nodded and he started to lead me away. I quickly turned and gave the woods one last look, my eyes searching for one thing in particular, but they didn't find it, and I was both relieved and saddened by that.

The large, kind brown eyed wolf was gone.

****

The few tormenting moments in the elevator were spent with me closing my eyes tightly and Mr. Talon instructing me to imagine open gardens and lakes and the statue of liberty.

Once out we rushed to our respective rooms. I dusted myself off and quickly cut the tattered ends of the torn slit in my skirt till it looked somewhat like a bad fashion statement. Sighing I grabbed the necessary paperwork and ran to Mr. Penson's room. Once there, I knocked and was surprised when instead of a 'come in' I heard footsteps and immediately after, Mr. Penson yanked the door open.

When his eyes fell on me he seemed to release a breath before he smiled at me, "Come, come Ms. Winters", he said all too welcomingly.

"I'm terribly sorry I'm late sir!" I said quickly before walking into his room.

"That's alright", he said walking to his desk, "Are you okay?"

I was caught off guard by his question and wondered if he meant it in regard to my skirt, but when I saw his genuine expression, the whole paranormal scenario from the forest ran through my mind making me hesitate in replying.

"Ms. Winters?"

"Oh! Y-yes", I replied quickly before handing him the papers that needed his signatures.

He took them from me started going through them. While I stood waiting for him to finish, my eyes fell on a brown paper lying on his desk underneath some neatly stacked files. It looked old, but had a really beautiful intricate golden design all around the borders.

"This seems fine"

Mr. Penson's voice drew my attention back to him as he signed the documents, "Here, you can file these and have them sent to the CEO's office", he said and I nodded, bending forward to take them from him, but when I did, my eyes landed on a word on the brown manuscript underneath the files that made my heart stop for a second.

Luna

The papers slipped from my fingers and fell onto Mr. Penson's desk as my eyes widened.

Luna

There it was again! That blasted word! My breath hitched as I stared harder at the paper.

Luna o-

I couldn't read the rest. My hand involuntarily reached out for the paper but yet again Mr. Penson's voice snapped me out of my trance.

"Ms. Winters? Is something wrong?"

"Huh?"

I looked at him with wide eyes and furrowed eyebrows to find him looking at me with the same knowing glint in his eyes. I gulped before looking down at the brown paper and then back at him.

"Is something bothering you?" he asked and I could feel the need to tell someone coming back up with a vengeance.

"You can tell me, Ms. Winters", he said and I could feel my barriers breaking down. It was like there was an unspoken command in his voice which was willing me to say it. To tell him everything that was bothering me, everything that was eating me up on the inside.

"Mr. Penson", I started uncertainly, "can I please ask you something?"

He nodded encouragingly, "Please do"

"What-", I gulped, "what is...what is a Luna?"

The minute the words escaped my lips a tense air settled around us. I could feel my heart beating fast and my hands started to get clammy. My eyes shifted from the document to Mr. Penson. His face was a mask, but his eyes continued to twinkle with understanding.

Understanding what?

"Why do you want to know Ms. Winters?"

His voice came out soft and yet seemed to echo inside my head. So he knew what this Luna was meaning he could help clear a few things up for me. I gulped, then answered hesitantly, "Mr. Talon...called me that...the other day"

A ghost of a smile played across his lips, "How do you know he was calling you?" he asked, his voice coaxing me to answer truthfully.

How did I know?...I just...did.

"I...I..."

"Has someone other than Talon also called you that?" he asked and my eyes went wide in recollection.

"Lunaaa"

"Please Lunaaa"

"Lunaaa"

"LUNAAAA"

I gasped as those voices from earlier rang in my head. Fear coursed through me and I took a few steps away from his desk.

"Ms. Winters?" Mr. Penson's voice turned concerned and he stood from his desk, but I wasn't paying attention.

It was happening again. The entire out of body experience thing was happening again.

"Lunaaa"

Oh God no! It was back! The whispering was back.

"Ms. Winters, what's the matter?"

"Please Lunaaa"

"Ms. Winters, calm down! Please sit"

I stared at Mr. Penson wide eyed as I realized the horrifying truth.

He couldn't hear the voices!

A cold sweat drenched my body and my throat went dry. I was going insane. I was going insane.

"Lunaaa"

I clamped my hands tightly over my ears and squeezed my eyes shut, walking backwards away from Mr. Penson. I kept walking, knowing that any minute my back would hit the door. But when my back touched the hard surface behind me, a tsunami of tingles flooded through my body, numbing my mind and intoxicating my senses.

I gasped and my heart skipped a beat as the terrifying whispers were suddenly replaced by the kind gentle voice of a woman. A voice I hadn't heard before.

"No matter what happens, as long as your mate is still out there, you will always have a reason to go on living."

The voice was warm and loving. It made me feel a sense of comfort and peace. And the word mate filled my body with a strange euphoria.

"And she will make you very happy-"

I felt warm hands on my shoulders and I looked up wearily, although a part of me already knew who it was. My eyes were met with hauntingly familiar wolf-human brown orbs staring at me intensely.

And I whispered the same word that the kind voice in my head whispered at that exact moment.

"-Zuerien"

And as his warm chocolaty eyes widened and his grip on my shoulders tightened ever so slightly, I heard one last voice in my head. And the words it spoke reminded me so much of a large dark kind wolf with the same beautiful eyes as him.

"It's okay, I'm here"
