The tension was thick enough that you could cut it with a knife if you wished to.
Sana was frozen to her spot opposite of Shigaraki, a slight tremble in her hands. If it was because of the cold or the fear that was coursing through her in that moment, she wasn't sure. Probably a mixture of both.
The irony of this situation. Telling Dabi to back off and stay on Shigaraki's good side, but not doing the same when the time comes.
The raven haired woman gulped, her eyes never leaving the pale man in front of her, anticipating his next move.
"What were you doing today?", Shigaraki asked once again, his raw voice filled with anger.
Behind him, the rest of the League was watching with interest. It seemed like none of them knew what had happened that day, most likely only Shigaraki and Kurogiri knew about it.
"I think it's time for you to speak up, Sana," Kurogiri spoke up dryly from behind the counter, his gaze still not moving from the glasses in front of him.
The temperature turned a notch colder and in response Dabi finally turned up his own body heat, going against the cold Sana gave off.
About a minute later Sana finally spoke up, muttering a soft "I did that for you."
If Shigaraki wasn't wearing that hand on his face she would've for sure seen his scowl as he replied "What do you mean?"
The raven haired woman took a deep breath, warming back up a little thanks to her brother's interference, then said "It was sort of a lucky strike. Dabi and I had been planning to join the League of Villains for a while now, the recent incident helping a bit in finding you."
Sana's eyes shot up, meeting Shigaraki's hidden ones.
"I figured, since you want to get to All Might, I could open up a backdoor incase anything else fails. I would get close to the Pro Hero Present Mic, since he's the easiest of them to get close to, and I would earn his trust up to the point he's ready to tell me anything so long I bat my eyelashes at him."
Inwardly Sana cringed at her words. This was the best she could come up with on the spot and by the gods did she hope he would, that they all would, buy it off of her.
Behind the pale man, Twice had jumped from his seat, shouting "That's a good idea! What the fuck?"
Toga had tilted her head in interest, while Mr Compress and Spinner didn't quite look like they bought it. Kurogiri had now also turned his gaze towards the raven haired woman.
"I haven't known him for long, but he seems to trust me a lot already. Give me a few more weeks maybe and I can give you the best opportunity you could ever get to confront All Might!", Sana finished, her hands now balled to fists at her sides to finally stop their trembling.
She couldn't afford such an easy gesture to give her away and make them pick up on her lies.
For a moment the entire bar was dead silent. Nobody moved a muscle or dared to say a word, all awaiting what their leader had to say to Sana's revelation.
Shigaraki huffed a laugh at her words, as if she had said some joke that nobody but he had understood. The picture he still held in his hand disintegrated the moment his little finger touched it and Sana couldn't help but take a step back at that. She didn't want to be next.
"Who do you think believes you? Your companion over there?", Shigaraki spat, pointing at Dabi, before he turned back to her, "You met up with a pro hero just to help me out? Without even knowing what I was going for? As a backup plan in case all else fails?"
Sana could feel her heartbeat pick up speed and the temperature of the room drop a few degrees once more. Had he seen through her? Then again, that hadn't been a brilliant plan to begin with.
"Who do you think you are to think you can dictate which plan fails and which doesn't? Did you think you could dictate me? Did you think I would listen to what some ill-mannered ice princess has to say?", Shigaraki questioned, his voice getting louder and louder with each word that left his mouth.
"You are not the boss of me! You are merely a little ant that I can crush whenever I see fit! Why isn't that in your stupid little brain already?"
Shigaraki reached out his hand and Sana instinctively took a step back, but not fast enough.
Just before she had gotten out of reach his hand had grazed her mask, disintegrating it into nothing but dust.
Out of instinct the raven haired woman slapped a hand over the lower half of her face, covering the scar that she hated to be reminded of. Unlike her brother's, who seemed to have a knack for self mutilation, her scars were involuntary reminders of her quirk.
Her eyes were wide and the temperature dropped even lower, way too fast. Ice was forming beneath her shoes and spreading across the paneled floor. Despite being the one forming the ice with her quirk, Sana began to shake, her breathing quickening in a race with her heart.
This couldn't be happening.
Dabi quickly heated up his own body, so far until flames almost appeared, but still careful enough to not set the bar on fire. He wasn't exactly sure if it was flameproof or not.
The taller one of the twins stepped forward, moving to stand between his better half and Shigaraki, his back turned towards the others.
Dabi hovered his hands over her shoulders, careful not to touch her. The scars on her face reminder enough of what would happen if he did.
It took almost a minute before Dabi's heat finally drowned out Sana's cold and the woman in question could finally stop shaking. Carefully she leaned her forehead against his shoulder, closing her eyes and taking the moment to breathe and calm down her racing heart.
"I'm sorry," she muttered softly so only he could hear. Finally Dabi gently placed his hands on her shoulders, leaning his head down a bit to respond "It's okay. But you have to show them now. Can you do that?"
Sana released a shaky breath, nodded and straightened up again. Dabi then proceeded to step aside and reveal her to the others again.
Most of them didn't seem surprised to find a scar adorning the lower half of her face, starting below her cheekbone and moving down, stretching across her throat and even lower, though her sweater hid the rest of it.
Shigaraki glared at Sana, a sound close to a snarl leaving his lips. Then he turned and headed back to his seat at the bar, while saying "Leave. I don't want to see your sorry face for a while. Or ever. Don't come back."
Sana knew she shouldn't. She couldn't misuse Hizashi's trust like this, but she also wanted to live a couple of years more. And he would never have to find her it was her, right?
"Why're you still here? Kurogiri, warp her away. I don't want to have her around here anymore," Shigaraki spoke, waving his hand in her direction in a dismissive manner.
Before Kurogiri could respond, Sana said "I know where UA's training camp will be held."
With that she had caught Shigaraki's interest, although he wouldn't openly admit it. The way he sat up a bit in his seat was enough for Sana.
"They changed the location so they would be more secure after all the media attention and the incidents with the League. But I know where and when they'll be there and I know who."
Sana tried to ignore the aching in her chest that this revelation brought her. I'm sorry Hizashi.
"And what do you think you can do with that information?", Mr Compress spoke up, clearly intrigued by what she had said.
"I know All Might won't be there, but we could get a student that's most likely to turn to our side and take them. It'll leave the heroes and especially All Might no other choice but to come and that could be an opening for the confrontation you're looking for."
The bar was silent for a few moments more as everyone let this proposition go through their heads. For a moment, Sana thought they wouldn't take her serious.
Then, Shigaraki finally spoke up.
"I decide who to bring back. You will plan and lead this mission. If you fail to bring him back and give me the confrontation I want, then it's over for you."
How she wished she'd kept her mouth shut.
