The Fox and the Flower

"Do you understand,Naruto?", Karin asked with a sigh. She rubbed her temple to ease the oncoming headache. This was the 13th time she had to explain the rules to Naruto. And she prayed it was the last. Naruto nodded enthusiastically and repeated them. Karin sighed in defeat, he was close enough and she was too tired to repeat the rules. She held out her hand, offering it to him to which he shook his head.

"I'm not a baby anymore! I can walk by myself. I'm a big brother now and I can't look like a baby.", he whined and looked up at her determined. She chuckled and smiled down at him, retracting her hand.

"That's right Naruto, you're a big boy now. I'm so proud if you for getting so responsible.", she ruffled his hair and smiled. He flailed his arms in an attempt to get her to stop messing with his hair. She giggled at his attempt and stood, leading the way to Sakura's room.

Sakura was now eight months old. The scientists had decided to wait for her to grow before allowing her near the other brothers. Most of them were too ruff or too young, except Itachi. They were worried his sharingan would hurt her since she was already so fragile. And Kisame and Zetsu might scare her. But she should be fine by now, they presumed.

She could now crawl and stand, but not walk. Her body was developing slowly and she was still fragile, but for the most part she was on track with everything.

Karin slowly opened the door to see Sakura standing in her grip and holding onto the bar for leverage. She looked at them curiously before laughing and smiling at Karin. Naruto walked closer to the crib with Karin as she picked up Sakura and gently placed her on the ground. She took a seat in the rocking chair in a far off corner and started reading a medical textbook, leaving the other two to have fun in their own.

Naruto sits in front of Sakura and gives her a big, bright smile. Sakura returned the gesture with one if her own even though she didn't have most of her teeth yet.

"Hi, Sakura! I'm Naruto! Dattebayo! I used to be the youngest, but you're here now and ibget to be a big brother! So you can look up to me too okay!", he said excitedly in his usual loud voice. Sakura didn't exactly know what he was talking about, but gave a happy squeal if her own either way.

Naruto smiled at her and walked to a box of toys in the corner. His fox tail swayed happily behind him, much like Sakura's cat tail, as he reached for a few toys. He came out moments later with a shark, fox, and ramen plushie. He turned around to see Sakura crawling after him quickly before toppling over with a giggle.

He sat down and she crawled foward climbing into his lap as he helped her sit correctly. Naruto dangled the plushie in front of her. She cooed and reached out for it, but her brother would swing it further out of the way each time she got close.

Naruto and Sakura had spent four hours together. They played, took a nap, ate, and played some more. Karin even allowed Naruto to feed Sakura as she read them both a story after their nap.

Karin rocked gently in her chair as she looked up from some medical papers to see what the duo were up to. Currently, Naruto was pretending to chase Sakura around as he made growling sounds and roars with a happy smile. It would seem Sakura's favorite thing to do is move around and run.

Karin sighed and rubbed her temples to mentally prepare herself for the ball of energy Sakura would be when she got older. She loved to run, play, and already had an attitude. Man, would her brothers spoil her.

She had a feeling the girl would have everyone wrapped around her fingers as soon as she learned to walk.
------------------------------------------------------------------
"-And we played tag, too! Sakura can crawl really fast, dattebayo!", Naruto yelled happily. It was later in the night and Sakura being the baby she was, had to go to sleep earlier than her brothers. They were sure she would change to be a night owl lime the rest of them soon enough.

Naruto and his brothers lounged around the Artificial outdoors room as he recounted the day he spent with his baby sister. His brothers all had small smiles on their faces from the excitement their little brother had from spending the day with Sakura. However, the few that weren't allowed to see her yet were tempted to pout in envy.

Laughter filled the room when Naruto gave a rather detailed description of how Karin freaked out when Sakura spit milk in her face. For a cat hybrid, Sakura really hated milk. But she's not lactose intolerant.

"Well, Naruto while you were with Sakura we all went and had ramen without you.", Kisame teased. He wanted to see if his youngest brother cared more about the ramen he loved so dearly or his new baby sister. After all, family is very important; Even among hybrids and freaks.

"WHAT!? You all had ramen without Me?! That's not fair, dattebayo!", he yelled and folded his arms before sitting with a pout. Kakashi chuckled at Kisame's antics and Naruto's reaction. Naruto seemed to have a sudden Idea and peeked up with a mischevious smile.

"Its fine. I got to play with Sakura all day and you still didn't see her yet!", he teased back and started to laugh at his own remark. His brothers all joined in with laughter of their own as Kisame pouted.

"Hey, pup that's not fair. Who taught you to be rude anyways? Was it Itachi or Sasori?", he asked and leaned in close to interrogate. The mentioned two raised their eyebrows as if silently asking Kisame to repeat himself. As they did that, Neji kept quiet and gave Naruto a small smile and pressed a finger to his lips. Naruto responded with a hidden thumbs up.

It's always the quiet ones.
