"No! You don't get to touch him." Helen is absolutely incensed over her supposed uncle trying to touch her Flinx without her permission, worse, without his permission.
"Azreal, you really need to go over the rules once more. Flinx belongs to Helen and myself. He willingly bound himself to us and you said something about him not just being our pet but something more. I think you are truly overstepping here." Desmond is furious and he makes sure that the death angel notices it.
Azreal shakes his head and steps back. "Once more I owe you three an apology. I am so intrigued by the feel of Flinx that I forgot myself."
"What do you mean?" Helen interjects by no means mollified especially since she can feel Flinx doing his best to stop the tremors of fear that are shaking his body.
"The spell the witches set on him to hide him from us is breaking. I am drawn to him to see if I can fully break the spell. I can do it now, I think, and then he will be able to obtain his full potential as well as be better able to defend himself.
"As I said, it is breaking and eventually it will be gone, but it will be an irritant to him until it is fully gone. Like an itch that can't be scratched. In my desire to better help him I forgot myself once more."
Helen exchanges looks with Desmond and then turns to face Flinx, "It is up to you if you want him to do that."
Flinx bites his lip nervously before speaking directly with Azreal, "Will it hurt?"
"To be honest, I'm not sure. If it does hurt, it will be mostly your abilities filling you up and you becoming used to them. So, it might hurt for a bit until you get used to your abilities."
"Wait, what do you mean abilities? If he has a spell keeping them back, then what about me?"
Azreal smiles at her softly, "Like your mother your abilities lie in helping others. You have great compassion and forgiveness in you. Perhaps even more than my sister had. That and your incredible painting abilities. I swear that you have those places dead to rights."
Azreal points to various paintings as he speaks, "That location is one where many angels go for picnics. The view is incredible. That one is a favorite of mine. It was also a favorite of your mother. She and your father went there often for dates."
He points to the one that had the bidding war between Desmond and the fallen angel. "That location is very special to all in heaven. If you are in need of peace, no matter how chaotic life is you would find it there. The Creator himself often spends a great deal of time there."
"Well, that certainly explains why the fallen one would want it so badly." Desmond says thoughtfully as he studies his favorite painting. When he saw it, he knew he had to have it, the absolute peace he felt looking at it calmed him like nothing else.
"What!" Azreal exclaims shocked.
"Desmond and the fallen angel got into a bidding war for that particular painting."
"I would think that it would be far too painful for him to see it day after day." Azreal says thoughtfully before a smirk makes its way onto his face. The pain of being away from Heaven is definitely presenting itself to the fallen one.
"It did, but I think the desire to have that piece of what he lost was more important." Desmond says thoughtfully still studying the painting. Hearing about that place certainly explains why it calms both parts of him so well. He just never thought he'd ever see anything from heaven. Now he not only has paintings that seem to be scenes from there, but he's bound to two angels. As good as married if Azreal is to be believed.
"Not as good as married, Desmond, you and your destined and your pet ARE married by celestial law." Azreal states and watches Desmond closely.
Desmond narrows his eyes, "How did you know what I'm thinking?"
Azreal leans towards him, "After centuries of killing demons I have become rather adept at reading their body language. I really have no desire to read your mind, even less to read the minds of others of your kind."
Desmond sniffs, "There are no others like me."
"Thank goodness." Azreal shivers at the thought of having to go against an army of those like Desmond. "I would still like to know how you came about, but," Azreal holds his hand up, "I don't expect you would ever tell me."
Azreal turns back to Flinx, "With your permission and that of your masters, I would like to examine the spell that was placed on you and once more, with permission I would like to remove it."
Once more Flinx is biting his lip and looking to Desmond and Helen.
"It's up to you Flinx, you will be the only one feeling the possible pain from it's removal."
"Oh, he'll feel it once the spell is completely gone whether I do it now or it breaks over time. The break likely started as soon as you two claimed him. Love is the antithesis of the black magic the witches used."
"What will you need to do?" Flinx asks nervously barely able to bring himself to look at the imposing angel before him.
"I will lightly run my hands down your head and face, that's all. If I'm able to break it I will do so at that time. If not, I'll let you know, and you'll know why you feel that slight discomfort until the spell finally breaks. You'll be able to prepare yourself for the pain once it does that way."
Flinx swallows hard and nods once. Helen moves out of the way and Azreal lightly runs his hands over Flinx's head and then down his face.
"It's further deteriorated since I've been here. You will be losing this spell now or if not, me removing it, it will remove itself likely within twenty-four to seventy-two hours." Azreal lightly holds Flinx's head and closes his eyes. Although Desmond and Helen can see him moving his lips they can't hear what he's saying.
Suddenly Flinx gives out a cry of pain and Azreal gently lowers him to the floor.
Sasha is suddenly there gathering him into her arms.
Azreal just stands there more than a little bemused.
Sasha catches the look and becomes more than a little hostile, "What, you've never seen a mate take care of her love?"
Azreal just shakes his head. "This situation is nearly as messed up as Jewel's. Forgive me, miss. I just didn't realize that you were his mate or beloved since you aren't wolves."
"Sasha will be the one teaching him the basics of fighting. She's my second in command and the next best fighter in my seethe."
Helen looks at Desmond confused. "Seethe?"
"A seethe is where vampires in clans live. Not all the clan members will live in the seethe." Azreal tells Helen, "Desmond's clan is rather small compared to some, but other than the vampire king's clan, which has grown considerably since he found Jewel, his is the smallest. But the others are very afraid of him and what they can do." Azreal tells Helen all this, but the tone is filled with respect.
"If we are so small, then how are you going to win against the clan that is preparing to come against us?" Helen, asks Desmond, more than a little afraid now.
Azreal raises an eyebrow at this, "There is a clan foolish enough to declare war on you?"
Helen looks at Azreal in confusion.
Desmond looks at him in frustration before answering, "It's the first made of the fool that made it so I had to leave the underworld. I guess it's taken him all these centuries to get the guts up to fight me. I was less than pleased on his declaration. Killed my fledgling inside my mate's car."
Azreal was less than pleased by this. "I'll help your people get into fighting shape. Not that I think they will need much."
"Azreal, I would love nothing more than to have a death angel, the leader at that be there to instruct my people, but we both know that there is no way the Creator will allow you to teach my people."
There is another thunderclap and Helen and Flinx both jump, startled.
Azreal is beyond shocked and can't hide it from those in the room.
"What did He say?" Desmond demands.
"Tell your people to be ready to work out tomorrow about seven pm. Apparently we are both wrong, I've been instructed to teach them. I'll be getting instructions from the Creator on what He wants me to teach them tonight.
"He also said that now that Flinx is no longer blocked by the spell that he'll be able to learn and catch up fast. Wants him to join in the learning tomorrow night. So, he'll have the day to learn the very basics before he's thrown into the deep end of fighting. If he's anywhere near his father in abilities, I have no doubt that he'll learn like a sponge."
"My father was that good?" Flinx asks more than a little dazed still. Sasha is helping him sit up but keeps him from standing.
Azreal sniffs, "I have no doubt that your father would have eventually taken over my place if he hadn't been trapped by the witches. They had to enspell him for the demons to finally kill him. Even with that he was able to kill many of the demons."
"Thank you, just knowing that little bit is nice after not knowing anything all my life." Flinx is so emotional that he wants to cry. Sasha pulls him into her arms and holds him.
Helen and Desmond watch this approvingly. What Azreal thinks is well hidden.
"I don't think Flinx is in any condition to cook tonight." Desmond says after looking at the young man.
Helen looks at Desmond and raises an eyebrow, "What are you saying, Desmond?"
"I think that we'll be taking a closer look at those bastards that hurt Flinx. If Flinx can handle going there as my guest. We'll do a double date with him and Sasha."
