Water droplets dripped down my short hair, a pair of walking shoes caught my blurry eyes. The man pressed a button, for the third time, and a thousand volts of electricity wrecked havoc  in my already singed body.

"Are you still not gonna own up to your mistake boy?" He asked me tauntingly.

I was too close to unconsciousness, barely able to speak a word. How could he expect me to answer when I couldn't even open my eyes properly?

"You poor boy! I just talked to your boss, and guess what? He abandoned you!" He sang, and I cursed under my breath.

Of course, he would.

"Didn't you know I have all influential men inside my fist? Or, didn't you know I am the main contributor in your boss' newspaper? But," He said, stopping his prancing. "Where's your new owner? She was too brave, threatening to end me if I touched you."

He came closer to me, and I could see the stars in his pitch black eyes. "Where is that bitch?"

He didn't know that I was a loser, who'd lost both his job and his lover. Well, he didn't need to know anyways.

I kept silent, counting my last moments, and hoping he would just end my life. Just then, a loud crash sounded from somewhere distant. Seconds later, gunshots ricocheted throughout the base. My ears perked up, and my captor hastily barked orders through his walkie-talkie. What in the world was happening?

No matter what he said, the gunshots didn't stop. The fear on his face told me he was under attack, but who would dare to do  that to the most notorious mafia leader? Unless..... no, no, no. There's no way.

Lifting my buzzing head up was still a bother, but I did so anyway. I was deadly curious about this invader. And they didn't take long to reach where we were, in one of the torture rooms. The doors slammed open, and two guards dropped dead with a bullet in their heads.

But the most surprising thing was the person who entered. Fiery red bangs framing her green eyes, contrasted with her black leather jacket. As she entered, her jade orbs locked onto my brown ones. Recognition and flame ignited in her eyes, and confusion brewed in mine. Why was she here?

A man crept up from her left side, and without looking, she smacked his head with the butt of her gun. Turning to her right, she punched another man in the face, breaking his nose. Delivering another gun to his head, she dropped him.

"Long time no see, Marco. I see you've been acting out a lot lately." She greeted the mafia leader standing at the farthest end of the room.

Marco laughed. "I can't believe you really came for this loser. What happened to the great assassin queen Alexandra?"

"Nothing, darling. The queen's just busy a bastard who can't follow orders." She shot another man in the head, and blood flowed out of his wound like a stream.

Nearing the corner, she stood chest to chest with Marco. "Luke might he a loser, but he's my loser. And you'll pay for your stupidity."

Before Marco could touch her, Alexandra flew into the air to her left with the fluidity of an assassin, and her place was promptly taken by her second in command.

She wasn't alone. Her whole gang was here.

"Hi darling! Missed me?" Her voice came dangerously close to my ears, and I saw her standing right above me.

I averted my eyes from her, hating that she was seeing me at my worst. Being battered and bruised and in chains made me look weak, and I abhorred it to no end. But she bent down and lifted my chin up.

"I knew you were trouble since the first time I met you."

"Then, why did you come back? Just leave me to die here." I said, my voice choking up.

"Baby, I can't do that. I can't let someone else kill my prey. I'm gonna do it myself."

She replied, and kissed me. Hard. Her soft red lips fell against my thick ones in a familiar rhythm, and I sighed against her. I'd missed her, and it looked like she had, too. Our tongues met eventually, tasting, squeezing, clashing against each other like the men in the background. I was slowly running out of breath, and the cut on my upper lip was starting to hurt, but I didn't care. All I wanted was her.

"Boss, someone's behind you," Alex's man shouted, and she pulled away. Winking at me, she extended her hand behind her, expertly shooting the goon in his heart. He slumped to the ground, and I stared at him.

I could never get used to the sight of so many bodies. However, Alex diverted my attention with her sweet voice, "C'mon lover boy, we gotta get outta here."

Someone had apparently broken my cuffs with a hammer while I was busy locking lips with Alex. I struggled to stand after hours of torture, and my legs felt like jelly. I was finally inside the outside world, and noticed how most of the enemy's men were wounded or dead.

The war continued with us standing in the middle of it. Alex held my hand and hid me behind a table in the corner. "Don't come outta here, boy. And take this gun, shoot them if they come near you."

Before I could protest, I was holding the trigger under my index finger, and Alex was long gone, punching and kicking people down. I watched her fight from behind the table, and she looked like some Goddess.

Her red hair flung around in the air, giving her leverage to strike her enemies. At some point, her bullets emptied, and she took out her knife instead. She smashed her gun in their faces, then stabbed them in any place she found. Ruthlessly, like a routine she'd been following for years.

But, I saw something she didn't. Marco was hiding behind a chair against the left wall, his gun aimed straight at Alex. My eyes widened with fear, my fingers trembled. The forgotten buzzing in my head was back, and I contemplated my choices.

Alex had once told me that in her world, everyone was a hunter. If she didn't shoot, she would be shot. It was actually how the whole world worked, not just hers. Her words echoed in my head, as I saw Marco deliberating on whether he should press the trigger or not.

Having taken my decision, I remembered how Alex had taught me to use guns. 'Stretch your arm, straighten your shoulder.'

My arm was raised and steady.

'Aim higher than the point you wanna shoot, and let out a breath.'

I breathed out deeply.

'Now, pull the trigger, as calmly as you can.'

Without hesitation, my finger pressed down on the deadly button, and a loud shot sounded. Everyone went silent, as they watched in horror, bright red blood splashed on Marco's lifeless body.

I looked at Alex, and she smiled proudly. In that moment, I realized I would always be her captive.
