// SPOILERS AHEAD //

A queen sits waiting for a visitor beneath the tree where she first met him and he saved her from a group of rogues. The mysterious tom arrives and the queen pleads with him to stay with her. It is revealed that he is part of DarkClan and that, though he wishes he could, the Clan needs him – a rebellion is stirring and he is part of it. He promises that she will see him again once the rebellion is over. The she-cat's kits are born, spitting images of their father, but the mysterious DarkClan tom never returns.

Five moons after the rebellion, Dewkit plays in the nursery with his mother, Cinderblossom, and the medicine cat, Mothpelt. He is eager to start training with his friends, Crowpaw, Crisp, and Oats, but Cinderblossom is hesitant. Dewpaw is revealed to have a stunted back leg and crumpled ears as a result of his genetics (his father, Smoketalon, was closely related to Cinderblossom). Mothpelt convinces her to let Dewkit join the others and the kit rushes off in search of the trainees.

He is tackled to the ground by Crisp and the rest of the trainees join them. Quartz, their mentor, stages a mock fight between Soren and Webpaw. Dewkit watches the fight in amazement until its close, when Soren pins Webpaw down. Quartz questions the other trainees on the techniques exhibited before asking for two new volunteers. Dewkit yearns to be part of the training, but is told that observation can be just as formidable a skill by Nightchaser, who arrives to watch the trainees.

Crowpaw and Hazel are chosen instead. This time, Dewkit attempts to answer Quartz's question but Nightchaser corrects him, not too kindly. With training over, some of the trainees choose to go hunting while the others return to camp. On the way, Dewkit asks Crowpaw if Nightchaser has always been grumpy and mean and it is revealed that, since the rebellion, Nightchaser has slowly been distancing himself. Dewkit also complains that camp is boring, and Crowpaw tells him to leave it to him.

Meanwhile, Lightpaw trains with her mentor, Flamestrike, back at the DarkClan camp. She is a formidable fighter but her stealth still needs a lot of work. Flamestrike is, however, generally happy with his apprentice and praises her.

Back at camp, Flamestrike goes off to join Dapplefrost and Smoketalon while Lightpaw joins the other apprentices. The animosity between Lightpaw and her littermate, Beetlepaw, is quickly apparent, but the other trainees seem to get along. They all complain of a hard day of training, Stormpaw protecting Rainpaw from Beetlepaw's barbed comments.

Lightpaw is asked to join a patrol with Rowanstorm, Oakshade, Flamestrike, and Shademask. They reach the cliffs by the sea, which Lightpaw finds breath-taking, and circle back around to the camp. On the way, they pass a large mound of dirt and Lightpaw wonders why it is there, noting the way Oakshade dips his head while passing. It is a grave for those who died in the rebellion.

Lightpaw remembers the rebellion, but notes the changes DarkClan has undergone since then – no more caretakers or truth-teller, the return of an honoured healer, and the establishment of life-long pairings.

At the alley cat camp, a dead-end alley with mountains of cardboard boxes, Crowpaw comes through with his surprise for Dewkit. The trainee leaves items for Dewkit to discover within the camp that will lead him to a mystery location where Crowpaw is hiding. Dewkit finds a jay's feather in Jaystrike's den, a pond lily in Lily's medicine den, and a stalk of indigo and a cobweb in the nests of Indigo and Webpaw. While Dewkit puzzles over what location the items symbolize Bronco, the alley cat leader, suggests he just follow Crowpaw's scent instead.

Dewkit finds Crowpaw but the two are forced to hide when they hear voices. They listen as Sprucetail and Cinderblossom attempt to calm Nightchaser down, and learn that the former truth-teller blames himself for the deaths that occurred during the rebellion. As the older cats leave, Nightchaser locks eyes with Dewkit.

Cinderblossom grounds Dewkit for being so far out of camp and for eavesdropping on their conversation. It starts to snow and, bored, Dewkit takes it upon himself to clear the camp of it, much to the amusement of the older cats.

That night, water leaks into the nursery and Cinderblossom and Dewkit abandon it. The entire camp scrambles to abandon their dens before they collapse, but Crowpaw is trapped beneath a pile. Condor, Beaver, Roanne, and Nightchaser work together to shift the wet cardboard and free him.

In DarkClan, Lightpaw returns from a hard training session with Smoketalon, who she loathes. She visits Reedpaw for a minor shoulder injury and tries to lift his confidence when he second guessed his choice of herb. Reedpaw worries that, without a mentor, his best won't be good enough for Dawnstar.

Lightpaw gets into an argument with Beetlepaw promptly afterwards and Spiderthorn comes to break them up. Beetlepaw accuses their father of always taking Lightpaw's side. Spiderthorn speaks with Lightpaw and mentions ways for her to try and get along better with Beetlepaw, mentioning two toms (Nightchaser and Flamestrike) who began training at night to strengthen their bond.

That night, Lightpaw is put on a hunting patrol and she and Rainpaw work together to bring in freshkill. Oakshade and Thistleshade praise them, but Lightpaw becomes uncomfortable when they begin to show affection towards each other.

The weather turns colder and Lightpaw and Yewpaw are set to practice their stealth in the mud. While hunting, Lightpaw happens upon Oakshade and Thistleshade having a private conversation and realizes their words could be traitorous when they mention love.

When they return to camp, Reedpaw joins the apprentices and mentions his inability to hunt and fight; Stormpaw wonders why he is not allowed to join them, as Nightchaser trained with the other apprentices. Beetlepaw interrupts the conversation, stating that medics are a waste of prey and space, and Lightpaw defends Reedpaw. Dawnstar, overhearing their squabbling, breaks them up, but pulls Lightpaw aside.

Lightpaw is made to clean dens for the next quarter moon because Dawnstar believes she is stealing extra freshkill. Shademask is set to watch her. As Lightpaw goes to clean out Dawnstar's den she overhears Newtfang and Shadowpelt telling the leader of the rebels' movements.

Once her punishment is over, Lightpaw rejoins the apprentices and beats them in fighting training. She is praised by Rowanstorm and he likens her fighting style to that of Spiderthorn. Flamestrike also lets her know that he doesn't believe she stole prey, as she is not stealthy enough and would have gotten caught if she tried.

After training, the Clan assembles and Dawnstar brings in a prisoner – a kittypet from Twolegplace. The entire Clan is made to participate in her murder once it becomes evident she has no information about Nightchaser's whereabouts.

The alley cats, after the night of the storm, travel to Tumble Down Den, a secondary camp. Along the way, Nightchaser grows aggravated that this new camp is further from the edge of Twolegplace. Cinderblossom lets up on Dewkit's punishment and asks Webpaw to watch him so that he can traverse the fences with the trainees.

Dewkit becomes aware of the animosity between the alley cats and the rebels – Clan cats, as Leo puts it. The trainees decide to play a game of fence hopping and Dewkit is soon left behind. Distracted, he falls off of the fence and into the garden of a Twoleg den. A dog attacks him and Dewkit struggles to jump back atop the fence. He is rescued by a loner, who introduces himself as Killian when a rebel and alley cat patrol comes back to look for Dewkit.

Sprucetail, Nightchaser, Roxanne, and Bronco are skeptical of Killian but allow him to join them on their trek to Tumble Down Den. A few days later, Charlie and Minerva arrive with news of a kidnapped kittypet – Bree, the cat killed by DarkClan. Killian's comments earn him a battle with Sprucetail and he is allowed to stay, but only upon the condition that he defeats her. Bronco breaks up their stalemate and allows Killian to stay at Tumble Down Den.

Lightpaw is put through her paces when the apprentices are made to practice their stealth. They are to sneak through the forest without getting caught by their mentors. Lightpaw is caught twelve times total, earning her an earful from Rowanstorm. In general, the mentors are not impressed with the stealth of the apprentices, including Rainpaw who was only caught twice.

Lightpaw decides to eat on her own that night but is joined by Thistleshade, who tells her about her own littermate who, though a great fighter and hunter, had trouble with being stealthy as well. She advises Lightpaw to practice but also assures her that, if her stealth is not up to par and she is caught by the rebels, they wouldn't kill her as some of the others seem to think they would.

Deciding to take Thistleshade's advice, Lightpaw asks Rainpaw to help her train. She worries about Rainpaw's littermate, Reedpaw, and visits him in the medicine den to find him treating Pigeonfang, who is pregnant with a litter of kits.

She joins a patrol made up of Thistleshade, Rowanstorm, Shademask, and, to her dismay, Beetlepaw. Shademask takes up leadership of the patrol and splits the party at the Twolegplace border. Lightpaw, paired with Shademask, finds his willingness to converse with her strange, as he is usually very quiet.

As she is marking the border, Charlie appears and Lightpaw tries to gain information about the rebels' whereabouts from him. Smoketalon and Dapplefrost catch her speaking to him and accuse her of conspiring with the enemy. Shademask stands up for her when he arrives and, afterwards, confesses how nerve-wracking speaking against Smoketalon was.

It begins to snow heavily, and Dewkit finds himself locked into the camp with only Killian for company. Killian tells Dewkit of his littermate, Jed, who was also crippled. At the end of the story, Jed is killed by DarkClan who Killian calls the Marked after the scars on their shoulders. After hearing this, Dewkit becomes aware of the scars on Sprucetail, Jaystrike, Birchfrost, and Bramblefire.

Nightchaser shows up in camp and names Dewkit an apprentice – Dewpaw. Cinderblossom tells him that he is to be apprenticed to Mothpelt. Dewpaw fights against becoming a medicine cat and is instead assigned to Quartz as a warrior trainee.

His first session is with Leo, who takes the trainees hunting. He finds it hard to keep up with the apprentices but is helped up a fence by Robin along the way. He begins his hunt by the lake and accidentally has his legs slip in; startled, he scares a bird out of the rushes and brings it down with his own weight, making his first kill.

Dewpaw is then pitted against Crowpaw in a mock fight and, determined, manages to win. The trainees mock Crowpaw for having been beaten by a cripple. Dewpaw, back leg sore from falling into the lake, decides to visit Mothpelt. He stops short when he overhears Cinderblossom telling Mothpelt how hard it is being a mother to a kit she never wanted. Hurt, Dewpaw runs away from camp and spends the night in a sewer.

The next morning, he stumbles across a bridge and finds himself in the territory of the Junkyard Gang, who take him hostage. Jet, their leader, decides to kill him but Gannet stops him, proposing the gang use Dewpaw to trade with the alley cats for more territory.

In DarkClan, the apprentices wake up to snow but are chastised for playing in it by their mentors. Dawnstar asks to have a word with Lightpaw, believing Lightpaw is conspiring with the rebels. She is kept in camp and decides to visit Reedpaw, aware of Dawnstar's eyes on her. She bumps into Shademask, who seems worried about her, but Reedpaw is out.

When she is able to escape the camp, Lightpaw runs far into the forest, unable to escape her thoughts. She runs into Smoketalon and Dapplefrost, who look to be more intimate than DarkClan allows for – Dapplefrost is also Flamestrike's life-long pairing. They threaten to hurt Lightpaw if she dares to tell anyone.

Afraid to let it slip, Lightpaw spends time alone. Spiderthorn corners her and offers to share freshkill with her, berating her for trying to run away from the Clan. Confused, Lightpaw tells him she was trying to find out information about the rebels; it becomes obvious that Smoketalon is lying about her. Shademask backs Lightpaw up to the Clan deputy when asked.

During her next training session with Flamestrike, Lightpaw is told that she is ready for the next phase of training. She is also summoned by Dawnstar to her den and once again overhears Newtfang and Shadowpelt reporting about the rebels' movements and the internal strife in their camp.

Dewpaw wakes in the gang camp. On the ninth sunrise the gang moves off in the direction of the alley cat camp but, instead of proposing a trade, attacks. Dewpaw sees Killian attempting to protect Cinderblossom from Gannet but is pushed aside by the larger gang cat. Dewpaw rushes to save his mother but Gannet is distracted by a commotion on the other side of camp.

Outside, Dewpaw witnesses Crisp saving Oats from Queenie. Bronco jumps to the centre of camp, Jet's scruff in his mouth. Nightchaser decrees that there are too many cats living in Twolegplace and one group must be removed. He gives the Junkyard Gang the choice of joining them or being forcibly removed. Only Jet, his mate, Queenie, and his deputy, Fang, do not take him up on the offer.

Cinderblossom refuses to let Nightchaser kill anyone, especially Queenie who is pregnant with kits. Sprucetail steps in, but Fang is killed moments before. Nightchaser stands down and Jet and Queenie go free, as do Chrome and Ace. She welcomes the remaining Junkyard Gang to Tumble Down Den.

The tension in the camp rises as the Junkyard Gang refuses to join training or patrols. Dewpaw is distracted during practice and Robin confronts him about his recent experiences. Crowpaw and Killian also try to support Dewpaw.

Unable to sleep, Dewpaw roams the camp at night and stumbles upon a group of gathered cats. He overhears them speaking of Nightchaser's growing madness and StarClan's plan to rebuild the Clans of Old once DarkClan has been defeated. It is also revealed that the mystery tom from the prologue, and the father of Crisp and Oats, was Lionmask.

Lightpaw continues her stealth training. She gets a thorn stuck in her pad and visits Reedpaw, who is also treating greencough patients – Minkfur, Antkit, Yewpaw, and Spiderthorn. Despite her injury, Lightpaw is put on patrol by Skunknose, who is acting deputy while Spiderthorn is sick. Shademask takes her place. It is revealed that Dapplefrost is pregnant.

Right before she is sent on her assessment, Lightpaw says goodbye to her father who, in his sickly state, mistakes her for Morningfire, his former mate. Her unease increases when she is partnered with Beetlepaw to infiltrate the alley cat camp and gain information; Stormpaw and Rainpaw are assigned the Junkyard Gang. Lightpaw exchanges brief goodbyes with Reedpaw, Flamestrike, and Shademask.

As they traverse Twolegplace, Lightpaw and Beetlepaw run into a dog. Charlie, appearing out of nowhere, comments that the dog is harmless, and offers to give them refuge for the night. The two she-cats follow him to the place where he lives with Minerva.

That night, Lightpaw has a dream in which Nightchaser comes to her and asks her what she is seeking. She replies that she is seeking the rebels, but Nightchaser asks her to second guess her response. When she confidently responds that she seeks the rebels he attacks her and she wakes.

In the middle of the night two cats – Pearl and her young kit, Periwinkle – arrive at the Twoleg den. Jet and Queenie, the cats who were chasing them, arrive moments later and attack the cats. Lightpaw kills Jet in self-defense and Queenie vows revenge.

Dewpaw's days turn into a routine of training, hunting, eating, and sleeping. The entire camp seems to be in a routine lull, but he notices Cinderblossom growing happier as she spends more time with Killian.

During his next training session, Dewpaw fights Hazel and uses his signature move for the first time – using the deadweight of his crippled back leg to wipe out her legs from underneath her. Hazel still beats him, as Dewpaw cannot jump high enough, but Oats offers to help him train his jumping. At camp that night, both Robin and Crowpaw grow worried as Dewpaw begins coughing.

As Dewpaw is hunting a couple of days later, Crowpaw creeps up on him and forces him to eat some herbs. Later, cats begin falling sick in the camp and Dewpaw realizes Crowpaw may have saved his life. During their next practice, Crowpaw is pinned by Hazel and Jaystrike grows angry that Crowpaw refuses to fight back.

Back at camp, Dewpaw overhears Killian and Gannet plotting, though it is unclear whose side they are on.

As he hunts a few days later, he runs into Killian, who accuses him of having a problem with how close Killian and Cinderblossom have grown. Dewpaw lets it pass, glad Killian does not know he overheard him. Robin confronts Dewpaw about his distance from Cinderblossom, but he blows her off.

Oats and Dewpaw train in climbing but, when they return to camp, they find Fiero has died of greencough. Dewpaw realizes that Crowpaw should be a medic, and not a trainee, and Crowpaw reveals that he has had dreams from Finchwatcher, one of the medicine cats of old.

They try to convince a jury of this but Jaystrike is adamantly against having Crowpaw switch mentors. Mothpelt listens to him, however, and Crowpaw becomes a medic's apprentice. Dewpaw plants a seed in Nightchaser's mind that medics are just as important as warriors.

Following the death of Jet, Lightpaw feels shock and guilt. She and Beetlepaw decide to look for the rebels and run into Nightchaser on their way, who does not believe their story and tries to kill them. Sprucetail stops him. The two she-cats are briefly interrogated before being allowed to stay in the camp. Mothpelt offers soothing herbs to help Lightpaw with her shock.

Dewpaw does not trust the new arrivals but lets them be. While out on a patrol, he notices that DarkClan is marking their border more strongly than before. At the end of the patrol Webpaw thanks him for helping Crowpaw follow his calling.

When training the mentors subbing for Quartz, who is sick with greencough, decide to introduce some more advanced moves. All of the trainees find it challenging except for Beetlepaw, who executes it perfectly. Dewpaw becomes afraid of how much more well-trained DarkClan seems to be than they are.

Robin tries to confront him about his distance from Cinderblossom again, but Dewpaw walks away. He overhears Sprucetail, Nightchaser, Bronco, and Roxanne talking. Nightchaser believes Lightpaw and Beetlepaw are DarkClan spies and have not been cast out by DarkClan as they claim to be. Sprucetail disagrees, but assures him that, even if they are spies, they have the capacity to subdue them.

Lightpaw learns of Beetlepaw's excellence in battle training and worries about their mission. She attempts to befriend Crowpaw, hoping to learn things she can pass on to Reedpaw. During her stay in the medicine den, she also observes the camp and realizes it is very fragmented; she doesn't think the rebels stand a chance against DarkClan.

The trainees practice group fighting and Lightpaw is put under Jaystrike's mentorship. He praises her skills and comments how similar her fighting style is to Spiderthorn's. They head back to camp, where they find Birchfrost has been killed by greencough. Jaystrike is particularly affected, as the she-cat was his mentor.

The following night, the trainees return to see Quartz has passed from the greencough. They all sit vigil together for their mentor. Pixie, of the Junkyard Gang, also dies, and Nightchaser comments that everyone is the same in death, regardless of where they came from.

Oats and Dewpaw do some more climbing practice but, this time, Lightpaw joins them. She then offers to do some extra battle training with them and critique their techniques. Dewpaw begins to trust her, but still believes something is off.

Lightpaw's paranoia grows and she finds it hard to fit in at the camp. Beetlepaw, on the other hand, has assimilated well, and Lightpaw finds her flirting with Gannet. At the next practice, Lightpaw downplays her battle skills in order to make friends with the trainees. When she sits with them to eat freshkill that night, however, Hazel and Webpaw grow jealous of the attention Lightpaw gets from the alley cat toms, and Lightpaw leaves.

Beaver rescues her by placing her on patrol. At the border, Lightpaw runs into Shademask, who is relieved to see her. He tells her that Stormpaw and Rainpaw had returned to camp, as there was no more Junkyard Gang, but that they had been punished by Dawnstar. He also shares his doubts of Dawnstar's real purpose for tracking the rebels. Lightpaw also learns that Yewpaw, her littermate, has died of greencough.

The rest of the patrol returns and Lightpaw runs Shademask off. Cinderblossom stops her and tells her she knows her secret, but won't turn her in.

Dewpaw finds no joy in training anymore and sneaks out of camp to do some hunting. He runs into Killian near the border, but otherwise has a successful hunting trip. He visits Crowpaw and asks him if he believes DarkClan can be defeated and the three Clans of old can rise again. He also shares his doubts about Lightpaw and Beetlepaw. Crowpaw seems to trust Sprucetail and believes she has everything under control.

Moments later, a bloodied Nightchaser arrives in camp and announces that DarkClan's healer – Reedpaw – is dead. Dewpaw feels guilt as it was he who gave Nightchaser the idea in the first place. Sprucetail makes her disappointment in Nightchaser's actions known.

Lightpaw grieves the death of her friend. Mothpelt tries to assuage her grief and hatred of Nightchaser by telling her of Wrenflight, and how dealing with grief can change someone's perspective. Lightpaw is watched in turns to ensure she does not attack Nightchaser.

Once some of the grief has ebbed, Lightpaw befriends Flea and Penny, two of the Junkyard cats. They are able to speak freely, especially about their littermates, and Lightpaw finds she enjoys the freedom the alley cat camp offers.

Lightpaw is asked to join a hunting patrol by Sprucetail. Towards the end, Sprucetail draws her aside and tells her she knows that Lightpaw and Beetlepaw are spies. She reveals that Thistleshade and Oakshade have been passing information to the rebels. Nightchaser is not privy to this information, as he is too unstable to be trusted. When given the choice to run to DarkClan or stay, Lightpaw chooses to stay.

Dewpaw skips out on extra practice because of a patrol. The patrol is attacked by DarkClan at the border and Dewpaw finds himself staring at its leader: Smoketalon, his father, who he is the spitting image of. It slowly dawns on him why Cinderblossom did not want him. The patrol also mentions that they have a spy in the rebel ranks. During the ensuing fight, Stormpaw asks Dewpaw if his littermates are alright. He asks Dewpaw to pass on a message to Lightpaw: that they should stay away from DarkClan, as life is not worth living in it.

When the bloodied patrol returns, it is speculated who the spy might be. Sprucetail and Dewpaw come to the conclusion that it might be Killian.

Lightpaw dreams of Nightchaser once more but, this time, responds that she is seeking revenge and attacks him. Nightchaser turns into Reedpaw, who asks her again what she is looking for. When Lightpaw responds 'light', he lets her wake.

Dewpaw passes on Stormpaw's message to Lightpaw moments before Mira announces that DarkClan is getting ready to attack. Beetlepaw and Lightpaw exchange a confused look, as neither of them passed on any information to DarkClan. Sprucetail rushes off to deal with the spy and Beetlepaw and Lightpaw join forces to convince the trainees of their innocence, and inspire them to fight alongside them.

Sprucetail runs Killian, DarkClan's spy, out of camp. Lightpaw realizes he was the one feeding information to Newtfang and Shadowpelt. The alley cats prepare to attack but it is brought up that it is not the darkest of nights, which was their downfall in the previous rebellion. Sprucetail assures that the night has never been darker, as Nightchaser is at his darkest, and they move off. Dewpaw finds himself next to Cinderblossom, who he apologizes to and receives an apology from.

As the two sides crash into battle at High Stones, Dewpaw finds himself opposite a she-cat who has had half of her face mauled. Stormpaw comes to her rescue, calling her Rainpaw, and battles Dewpaw. Lightpaw knocks Stormpaw off of Dewpaw and convinces both him and Rainpaw to fight for the rebels instead.

Dewpaw moves further into the battle and sees Robin pinned beneath Smoketalon, screaming for help. He uses the deadweight of his back leg to slam into the older tom, but Smoketalon promptly subdues him and Dewpaw falls unconscious.

Lightpaw, after saving Dewpaw from Stormpaw, sees Newtfang moving in to kill Finch. She does not reach them in time, giving herself away as a traitor but does not save Finch. She battles Newtfang but is knocked aside by Shademask, who she also manages to convince to 'follow the light'. She briefly wonders if Nightchaser is the darkness and she is the light that will save them from DarkClan.

She catches sight of Dawnstar next and the wounded Nightchaser, who is battling her. Before she can reach them, Flamestrike hits her and she manages to convince him, too, to help the rebels. They move off to help Nightchaser against Dawnstar, but Smoketalon injures Flamestrike along the way. Dawnstar then grabs hold of Lightpaw, throat between her fangs.

Nightchaser offers to take Lightpaw's place, but Dawnstar does not accept. Spiderthorn jumps in to save Lightpaw, throwing Dawnstar off of the High Stones. Both Nightchaser and Lightpaw watch as Spiderthorn kills Dawnstar, but sacrifices himself in the process.

The battle ends abruptly and both sides draw nearer to the dead body of the DarkClan leader and deputy. Both sides lost four members – Dawnstar, Spiderthorn, Newtfang, and Duskwhisker from DarkClan, and Indigo, Mira, Finch, and Soren from the rebel side. A feeling of hope falls over the survivors that they will be able to rebuild a life free of DarkClan's control.

In the epilogue, Mothpelt strides peacefully through High Stones, recounting some of the past half moon's events. Though Dawnstar was defeated, Skunknose, Shadowpelt, and Smoketalon all escaped from the battle and are still somewhere out in the world.

Cinderblossom asks about Flamestrike, who is recovering but will forever have a stunted back leg. No one has died of their injuries, but Mothpelt knows some of the scars will stay forever.

The three new leaders of the reborn Clans arrive at nightfall after their visit to Moonwaters – Sprucestar of RockClan, Gannetstar of SeaClan, and Tallstar (Bronco) of MoorClan. They tell the gathered cats that they have spoken to StarClan about the division of the Clans, but each individual is free to choose where they belong. They then announce the new Clans.

Mothpelt, now the medicine cat of RockClan, tells Crowpaw they will meet the following night at Moonwaters so he can receive his full name before bidding him farewell. As she moves to leave, she sees the lone figure of Nightchaser on the Speaking Rock.

Nightchaser tells her that he has no place in the new Clans and that his duty has been fulfilled. He will go where all of the others have gone, as all the truth-tellers before him. Their goodbye is bittersweet, but Mothpelt knows she is now responsible for teaching the ways of the warrior code to RockClan and looks forward to the peace of tomorrow.
