"𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙄𝙎𝙊𝙉, 𝙄 𝘾𝘼𝙉'𝙏 let you do that, all right? She's beyond reasoning." Luther chased after Allison, the rest of us following him up the steps of the theater.
"You hear the music? It's started," Diego shouted over muffled violin music coming from inside the building.
"Do you honestly think she's going to listen? After everything that's happened?" Luther asked Allison.
"Come on guys, hurry up. We don't have time for petty arguing," I said impatiently. "Ok," Luther sighed, nodding at Allison. She immediately ran down the hall.
As soon as she was out of earshot, Diego spoke up. "You're using her as a distraction, aren't you?" he asked. "Our best chance is to incapacitate Vanya. She'll thank us later," Luther said. I really wanted to slap him right now.
The four us began to walk in the direction Allison went. "So, what's the plan?" Klaus questioned.
"You wait out front," Luther instructed. I gave him a confused look. If he was able to completely conjure Ben earlier, shouldn't he be with us?
"What?" Klaus asked. "Yeah, you're the lookout," Luther asked, brushing the topic aside. "The lookout?" he said once again, in disbelief. "Yeah, seriously. What did Klaus ever do to you? He can be useful, maybe he'll be able to conjure Ben again." Luther stopped and turned to me. "Come on, you know that won't happen. I know you think you saw Ben, but that isn't going to help us."
I scoffed, pulling Klaus into a quick hug. "I'm sorry," I whispered. He just nodded, gesturing for me to keep going.
I continued to follow Diego and Luther down the hall. Diego found us a door to the backstage, letting us inside. I followed Luther to one side of the stage (because we all know he needs more protection) while Diego went to the other. Diego and Luther immediately ran into the stage, while I stayed back. And of course, knowing what Vanya could do, I code the right thing. I force created by her pushed both of them back and onto the ground.
The audience began to scream and run away in fear. Many of the performers started to get up too, but Vanya used her powers to push them back into their seats. She stood in the center of the stage, continuing to play. Her whole body began to glow. I stood up, ready to use my powers to knock her out, but as quickly as I stood, I was pushed back on the ground. I immediately crawled to where Allison, Diego and Luther were behind a row of seats.
"She's stronger than I expected," Diego said, referring to Vanya.
"Yeah," Luther breathe out. Allison threw a bag at Luther, having no other way to retaliate. "Yeah, we're fine. Thanks for asking. Look, I almost lost you once, all right? I wasn't about to lose you again," he told Allison.
"Well, so much for the element of surprise. What else you got?" Diego asked Luther.
"What about her violin?" I asked. "Oh, wait, yeah, her violin. It's like her lightning rod. If we take it from her and stop her from playing, we might have a shot," Luther said.
Right before the men from the bowling alley burst in the room, the sound of gunshots immediately resonating throughout the theater. "Wow, guys. You're so annoying. Great timing!" I shouted.
"What the hell happened to Klaus? He's supposed to be our lookout," Diego muttered, ducking under the cause once again.
"Yeah, you surprised?" Luther asked, giving me a pointed look. "Maybe if you encouraged him instead more, this wouldn't have happened," I retorted.
"What's with all the lolly gagging?" I heard Five say. I looked to see that he has appeared out of nowhere. "Five, get down!" I shouted. He trimmed around, realizing that we were being shot at, ducking behind the chairs with us. He crouched down beside me, and I immediately tackled him in a hug. "Where the fuck were you?" I questioned, giving him a quick peck on the cheek.
"Yeah, I thought you bailed on us!" Luther exclaimed. "I had an errand to run," Five responded hastily. "This is not good."
"You know these guys?" Diego asked.
"Yeah, I do," Five replied.
"And?" I asked.
"Well, we're screwed," Five said, watching as more of them piled in. Diego began to throw some knives, knocking a couple of them out.
"Ah! Guys, it's Cha Cha!" I turned to see Klaus frantically running in.
"Klaus, get down!" I shouted. Klaus screamed, ducking to where we all sat. Five teleported away, landing in one of the guy's back. He grabbed his gun, pointing it at the other men.
I see a flash of light, and Ben is there. Tentacles are coming from his stomach, grabbing the men, holding them in the air. "Yes!" I muttered, Klaus did it. I look over to Diego, then watch him run after Cha Cha. I turn my attention to Ben, who smiles at me.
"Oh my god, it's him. Ben," Luther says in disbelief.
"Now who's lookout," Klaus and I said in unison, giving each other a high five.
"Oh, welcome back. Where were you?" Luther asked Diego, who just ran back into the room. "Honoring a memory," he stated. I gave him a question look, brushing it off. "So, how do you want to end this thing?"
"We surround her. All right? We come at her from all angles," Luther ordered.
"So basically a suicide mission?" I asked.
"Yeah, but one of could get through. It's the only chance we got," Five said. "Why are you suddenly siding with him?" I asked. He only shrugged.
"Are we all in?" Luther asked. We all nodded. "All right, Diego, stage left. I'll take stage right. You guys take front," Luther commanded. We all ran to our spots. The building began to tremble and break around us, glass shattering and rubble tumbling down from the roof. Vanya continued to play, her presence becoming more powerful. "Now!" Luther yelled.
We all ran towards her, but were pushed back. Instead of landing on the ground, we were held in the air. We all struggled to escape her grip.
I turned to Five, grabbing his hand and holding it tight. I heard a gunshot, and we fell to the ground. A white beam shot up from Vanya's chest and into the sky. We all stood up, rushing to Vanya, who fell to the ground unconscious.
"Is she alive?" Luther asked. Allison nodded, the rest giving a sigh of relief. "Oh thank god," Klaus sighed.
"We did it, we saved the world," Luther said. Allison fell next to Vanya, tears beginning to fall from her eyes.
Five wrapped his arms around me in a hug. I leaned my head on his shoulder, breathing a huge sigh of relief. We pulled back, staring into each other's eyes.
"Five, I lo-"
"Um, guys? Do you see that big Moon rock coming towards us?" Klaus asked, looking towards the hole in the ceiling. I followed his gaze, seeing a huge rock flying our way.
"That's not good," Luther said.
"So, this is it, huh? So much for saving the world," Klaus says, disappointment laced through his voice.
"If only Sir Reginald could see us right now, huh? The Umbrella Academy. A total failure," said Diego.
"At least we're together at the end. As a family," Luther said.
"This doesn't have to be the end," Five interrupted.
"What? What are saying?" I asked.
"I think I have a way out of here. But you gotta trust me on this," he said. There were a chorus is disagreements from everyone else.
"Well, then, we might as well accept our fate, because in less than a minute, we're going to be vaporized," Five explained.
"Seriously, guys? Don't you want to at least try to save everyone?" I asked, standing up taller.
"What's your idea, then?" Diego asked.
"We use my ability to time travel, but this time, I'll take you with me."
"You can do that?" I questioned
"I don't know, I've never tried," Five sighed. "What's the worst that can happen?" Diego asked.
"You're looking at it. A 58 year-old man inside a child's body. So, there's that."
"Oh, what the hell, I'm in," Diego agreed.
"Yeah, whatever, I'm in," Klaus shrugged.
"Me too. Allison?" Luther looks to Allison, who nodded.
"(Y/N)?" Five turned to me. I nodded, giving him a smile. "Okay, great. Luther, grab Vanya," Five instructed. Luther walked over to Vanya to pick her up. "Wait, should we be taking her? I mean, if she's the cause of the apocalypse, isn't that like taking the bomb with us?" he asked.
"The apocalypse will always happen and Vanya will always be the cause, unless we take her with us and fix her," Five explained. We all exchanged glances, having nothing to say.
"Everyone grab hands," Five said. We all listened, joining hands in a circle. First me, then Five, Diego, Klaus (with Ben standing behind him, hand on his shoulder), Luther holding Vanya, and finally Allison on my other side.
Five gave my hand a squeeze, and began to conjure a portal, similar to the one he popped out of days ago. I look up to see the swirling blue electricity above us.
"It's working!" Luther yelled over the loud noises.
"Hold on! It's gonna get messy!" Five warned. I squeezed my eyes shut for a few seconds before opening them. I open them to see our younger selves. Five must be taking us to the past. I turn my head to Five.
"Five!" I shout. "Yeah?" he asks, concentration still fixed on the portal.
"I love you!"
He smiled at me, eyes becoming brighter. "I love you too!"
He turned back to the portal. "Any second guys!" he shouted. I squeezed his hand in reassurance. All of the sudden, my vision was blacked out, covered by a shadow. Then, all I felt was Five's hand in mine.
