"ugh, I'm so bored" muttered a sighing blonde girl, sitting on a nearby rooftop of the Daily Planet of Metropolis, her cape blowing in the wind softly along with her hair and skirt as she huffs in boredom.

The girl is Kryptonian named Kara Zor-El and it was almost 2 years ago she debuted as Supergirl, and fought crime and big threats alongside her cousin and friends she made along the way, before joining a team of Heroes named the Outsiders led by the former sidekick of Batman: Robin, now Nightwing.

Crime hasn't been picked up for almost an hour and Kara had her chin in her hand, waiting for something to happen, she was expecting an Outsider alert on her comms but as life goes... Nothing exciting will happen all the time.

She starts to remember when she first joined the Outsiders, boy she remembered her crush on Nightwing, it was rather embarrassing since she kissed him right in front of Starfire, who wasn't happy with what she saw but understood that Kara didn't know that she and Nightwing were in a serious relationship.

Kara remembered how she and Batgirl first met... It was a faithful night in Gotham and Batgirl was struggling to deal with Ivy and Harley Quinn, until Supergirl herself arrived after flying over Gotham since her cousin was in Gotham, possibly at the Batcave.

Supergirl and Batgirl became friends not long after the encounter with the two troublemakers.

She smiled, remembering it all, she has come a long way, from losing her planet of Krypton, to her pod being knocked off course and separating her from her baby cousin, to landing on Earth years later after being in suspended animation and finding her baby cousin grown into an adult, to now becoming Supergirl who people thought was Superman's sidekick or sister according to most people.

Before she could rethink more about what she's been through, her communicator goes off, excited to hear it go off, she tapped on it and heard the familiar voice, belonging to Nightwing.

"attention Outsiders, we have a new problem that needs to be addressed and it's serious... Come to my coordinates, effective immediately before it's too late" Nightwing sounded a little worried, as his coordinates narrated over Kara's comms, telling her he was located in Central City, Downtown.

"he sounded worried, and a worried Nightwing means something terrible has happened" Kara said to herself before floating off the ground and flying off towards Central City, flying past the buildings of Metropolis, all the way outside the city before creating a sonic boom where it was safe to take off at mach speed.

It didn't take long till she arrived to Central City and found Nightwing and some others who were with him.

Miss Martian aka Megan/M'gann

Nightiwing was kneeling down on the floor, examining a previously killed person.

"what happened?" the super blonde asked the group as she landed on the ground, approaching her friends.

"2 unidentified people assaulted this location that held a secret weapon, made by the US Military and the US Secretary were visiting according to a surviving guard" Speedy explained as Nightwing stood up.

"this is... Horrible" the Martian says in horror, disgusted by the violence that happened here.

The dead guard had a clean cut through his torso, only a blade of a sword could do and kill the man instantly.

"I've also searched around the place, all I found were more bodies, and destroyed armoured vehicles, blade marks and so fourth, it was like a war happened here" Kid Flash explains in detail as Supergirl looked on with shock after hearing what she's just heard.

"there has to be more to investigate, whoever these people are, we're gonna-"

"gonna do what?" a sharp voice interrupts Nightwing, appearing out of thin air.

The figure stood in front of the Heroes, standing pretty tall for a normal Human being, his big swords in each hand and he was bald.

His outfit was covered with a redish poncho, his arms were mechanical along with his armoured suit underneath his poncho.

"it's been a while since we ever saw any 'Heroes' got into our business" another figure appears, wielding an red energy axe, his voice was slightly raspy but clear enough, he was a little smaller than the other one but had one cybernetic right arm and showed off his armoured attire of silver and red, his cybernetic arm donned a symbol, his hair was black and a scar ran down across his face, a very visible scar he got a very long time ago from a Legend forgotten in history.

"let me guess, you're the ones who did all of this?" Nightwing asked as the Heroes got into a startled stance, waiting to attack.

"well, my friend did most of the work out here, I did the inside work, if that counts" the red axed mercenary smirked.

"Outsiders! Take em down!" Nightwing ordered as the Heroes fanned out against the 2 unidentified beings, as their battlemasks formed around their faces and proceeded to defend themselves.

Supergirl, Nightwing and Kid Flash went for the axed mercenary while Speedy, Miss Martian and Bumblebee went for the other one who removed his poncho, showing how armoured he was.

"show me a good time you three!" the axed mercenary, immediately blocking Supergirl's heat vision attack as Nightwing rushed him along with Kid Flash with a coordinated strike they had worked on for the last few months, only for Nightwing to be kicked away and Kid Flash outsmarted by the mercenary, his axe had consumed enough of Supergirl's heat vision energy and disbursed it all out, knocking her down to the ground with a violent thud, leaving a huge mark on the concrete.

Meanwhile, Speedy, Miss Martian and Bumblebee were having a little bit of trouble with the other mercenary, he was too fast, even for a big armoured tall man.

Bumblebee's attacks left no mark on him, even if she shrinked in size, the mercenary could still see her approaching for a sneak attack, and simply used his swords to keep her away from him, eventually the blunt side of his swords hit her unconscious due to the force of the attack, sending her flying out of combat.

Speedy's arrows left no scratch, nor could Miss Martian get into his head and reveal his next moves, it was almost like...

"hahaha, I'm fucking invincible!!" he shouted out in excitement, smiling beyond his mask as he hit Miss Martian with the hilt of his large sword. He raised 6 shields in front of him that extended out from his back.

"this guy has everything!" Speedy said in frustration, no matter what arrow he used, it wasn't working at all.

In the distance, a figure stood by and watched, his blue coat blew in the wind as he stood by, he watched as these 'Heroes' were struggling against an old enemy of his and someone else he didn't recognise.

He wasn't wearing his traditional armour he once wore for a very long time, and hasn't worn it since fading away from existence, turning from a Legend to a forgotten Hero from an old war, a being who had protected Earth for centuries yet everyone forgot he existed, all he was now... Was but a myth.

He now wore something different, something new and refreshing.

He now buried his former self in the past, for he was called Umbra who swore pact to the Ancient Ones to end the conflict between his people and their enemies and had slain gods and goddesses, harnessed their power and used it to protect, not destroy. was now and forever.. gone. He died after the warrior purge that killed many warriors like him. Many of his close friends and family were killed during this time... And he was betrayed by someone from his own blood... His twin brother he loved dearly until the betrayal.

He sensed something was up, he could feel something big was coming, a weaponised sentient mech, capable of destruction.

He sensed something else, a presence he hadn't felt since the purge.

"Ash" he said under his breath, sensing his twin brother's presence.

He had been following a trail that led to the place where they all were, where his brother was, after all this time... He never thought coming back to face his brother once again after all these years of pretending to stay dead, and keeping his identity hidden.

He thought to himself 'I have to get down there... These Heroes are losing a fight they can't win'.

"it's time for the storm to approach..."

Nightwing had locked weapons with the axed mercenary now identified as Ash, surprised to know he had lived for a very long time but hasn't aged since then.

Kid Flash ran in circles around Ash as he blindsided Nightwing with his axe disappearing and reappearing in it's sword form, smacking him in the face with the hilt before stabbing the ground to disburst energy out to knock Kid Flash off his feet and roundhouse kicking him away violently.

Supergirl got back up after being knocked out the fight for at least 15 seconds and flew right towards Ash after seeing Nightwing parry Ash's attack, before he sensed it coming and simply pushed Nightwing with his sword now transformed back to his axe to stagger him and jump out the way, making Supergirl crash into Nightwing, knocking them to the ground.

"for Heroes, you're all really bad at teamwork" Ash complimented with a smirk before looking at his friend, he was handling himself very well.

He had knocked out Miss Martian surprisingly and knocked down Speedy, who was groaning in pain after his bow was cut in half, the blades had sciffed right off his arm, before being knocked down to the ground with a kick.

Bumblebee tried advancing on him again but was caught by Ash, who knocked her down with his axe.

But as Ash was about to say something, 2 lasers hit his back, causing sharp pain before being punched forward, replacing him was a pissed off Supergirl, her fists clenched.

"I've already had enough of you two already!!" Kara grinds her teeth as she catches Rix's blades with her hands, trying to snap them in half but weren't bending at all.

Instead, she makes a smart move and yanks his blades away from her before delivering a furry of fast punches, knocking back Rix a few feet away from her before landing a powerful kick, sending him towards Ash.

With this enough time, Supergirl quickly checks on Nightwing who was just getting up from unconsciousness.

"urgh, what happened?" he groaned as Supergirl landed beside him, her hand reached out.

"we were getting our asses kicked, that's what happened" she reassured her team leader, as she pulled him up back to his feet.

"Wing, I'm out" Speedy had gotten up, holding his injured arm, leaving his broken bow behind him as he joined them.

"gotta say... I've never been out-sped before, not since Thawne out-sped me a few years ago" Kid Flash appeared beside Nightwing

Bumblebee resized beside Speedy, "we need to rethink our strategy"

"I agree" Miss Martian appeared beside Kid Flash, "this Rix and Ash, they're nothing like we've ever faced before, they took us down without any holdbacks"

"wait! What're they doing?" Speedy pointed out as Ash and Rix began to back up as something big had landed in front of them, leaving a big pile of dusty smoke around the crater.

After the smoke cleared, a giant 22ft tall robot stood a few feet in front of them, revving up and getting ready to battle the Heroesx

"what. Is. That?" Karen asked as they all looked on in shock.

"Outsiders! Meet... M.O.D (Mech of Destruction)" Rix shouted out to the Outsiders, as the Mech started to advance on them.

"ok, I'm gonna sit this one out... Since... Well" Speedy slowly backed off as Nightwing then ordered him to get back to the javelin they used to call for backup, since the "scout" mission didn't go pretty well.

"Outsiders! Stall this thing until we..." before he could say anything else, a gust of wind knocks them all back, as a thousand visible cuts are shown around the Mech of Destruction.

Standing behind the robot, the Outsiders could see what appeared to be a man, in a blue coat, slowly sheathing his katana.

I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING!

After sheathing his katana, the cuts lit up and shattered like glass breaking, the Mech of Destruction began to dissolve into cut pieces, dropping behind the blue coated figure.

It all went quiet after the rest of the Mech dissolved into pieces, falling to the floor with a violent thud, as the figure was stared at by everyone around him.

"did... Did he just-"

"cut that... Mech with one sword?" Bumblebee finished Martian's question.

Nightwing and Supergirl only looked on in undeniable shock, after witnessing some random stranger cut down a giant 22ft tall robot in a blink of an eye out of nowhere.

The figure then turned around a little, looking toward the 5 Heroes who began to get up after being knocked down by him accidentally. His E/C eye and red augmented eye staring at them before his eyes set on Supergirl.

This instantly sent flashbacks from his past, Supergirl looked a lot like a female warrior he knew once during his early days, someone he misses dearly but moved on from, he always visits where her ashes were buried, to place flowers on her tombstone, to honor her memory and sacrifice.

"wonder who he is, he just done the job for us" Kid Flash got back to his feet within a flash, his arms were crossed as he was looking at the blue coated figure like the others were, wondering who just saved them.

"wait? That sword? That's the Akinigota!" Nightwing realised the sword's look told in the Tales of Old, thanks to his girlfriend Barbara Gordon aka Oracle, doing her own research about it and the man who wielded the legendary sword.

"the what?" the Supergirl and Miss Martian asked in confusion.

"the Akinigota was a legendary sword, wielded by a man lost in legend. I thought it was but a fairy tale but..." Nightwing explained as his head turned to face the blue coated man who was slowly approaching Ash and Rix.

"wait... Are you saying that-"

"yes... It has to be him" Nightwing interrupted Bumblebee politely.

"I don't expect a thank you" Umbra spoke out to the 5 heroes as he looked away from Supergirl.

Ash scolded the blue coated man, the forgotten legend named Umbra, he had history with him in the past as brothers in the same family.

"I didn't think I'd see you again... Brother" he smirked, but it soon faded as he kept his stare on the figure.

Rix reached for his big sword on his back with his free hand, getting ready to fight the attacker, only for Ash to raise his axe in front of Rix.

"stay out of this Rix, he's mine, go deal with those Heroes in the meantime" he motioned to deal with the 4 Heroes as he readied himself to fight the Outsiders.

"you five, go deal with him" Umbra gave an order to the five heroes, obviously pointing out to stall Rix.

"hang on, why are you giving us-" Supergirl was about to protest before hearing something coming their way, a blade thrown by Rix and Kid Flash catches it thanks to his quick manuvers, throwing it back to Rix who catched it.

"so I can deal with my brother" Umbra answered back, even though Supergirl was interrupted as he thought to himself, 'she even protests like her too'.

"ok Outsiders... Round 2!" Rix shouted in excitement, ready to fight as his visor and mask slid across his face.

"alright Outsiders, you heard the man, let's take him down!"

Ash approached his brother with a somewhat annoyed look, after all these years... The rivaled brothers reunite.

"so... You survived the purge that happened all those years ago, I'm surprised" Ash says with a hint of distaste, hoping he would never see his rival again.

"I always survive Ash, for years I was trapped in a different dimension until I found my way out, only to know it had been over 100 years since the purge, the world was changed when I came back, and so did I" Umbra replies, his hand gripping tightly around the scabbard of his sheathed katana.

"I see you've got your Akinigota" Ash's eyes focused on his brother's sword, he was always jealous of his brother's immense power, due to the pact he made with the Ancient Ones.

"if you want it Ash.. Then you'll have to take it" he coldly told Ash, "but you already knew that"

"hmph, I knew you'd say that... Y/N" Ash summons his red energy axe in his hand, staring down Umbra/Y/N.

Y/N pulls out his scabbard in front of him, he slides his thumb up to pop out his katana and then smirks.

"let's settle this... Ash"
